These places when the crowd is thin are the most charmed of hours as you get to chit-chat with the bartender, let them air out the dirty laundry, and learn all the deep dark secrets baked into the old walls. Is Chico Club a destination? I don't know about that, but it's certainly a neighborhood gem if you're looking for a cold drink with a side of pool, a good juke, and some TVs with sports. We were a group of about 7-8 people total. When we came back after grabbing drinks, we saw that the other group had completely taken over the table. They said they didn't care that we were regulars and called the security guard over. We explained the situation, and his response directly to us was: "I don't care, you can shut up, close your tab, and leave." We had already spent plenty of money there and were not asking for special treatment, but the lack of professionalism was awful. I've worked in customer service for almost a decade and have never spoken to a customer that way. This is exactly how a good place can lose loyal customers because of incompetent staff.

The bartender walks away to make the drink and immediately complains about me to her friends sitting directly across the bar. One of them rolls his eyes at me. Me: Hey, I was nice enough to wait while you were on your phone. Bartender: No, you weren't. I slide my drink back to her. Me: You can just give my drink to your friends across the bar. Bartender: I will. I walk out. The eye-roller stares at me as I leave. Acknowledge guests, stay professional, and don't complain about customers to friends sitting right in front of them.
