I have been here about 4 times now. The atmosphere is nice, they have a good amount of TVs, and the staff is very friendly. I love their pretzel appetizer, their fish and chips I didn't care for - it tasted a little off to me. I also have had their BLT which is decent as well. Stopped here on a weekday for dinner since I saw poutine on the menu. Poutine is not common around here so I was excited to give it a try. Parking was easy since the nearby lots were open and free during the holidays. The restaurant is easy to find and conveniently located downtown. It does not seem like reservations are required. Since we had a larger party, I did make reservations via OpenTable. Our table was ready upon arrival and we were greeted by our waitress Jessica. Jessica was great. She was the only waitress working, yet had a great attitude and was efficient. We quickly received our drinks and placed an order. I chose the poutine for my entree. Others in my party ordered the meatloaf, stroganoff, and chicken and waffles. We were impressed by how much protein was provided with each entree. They definitely do not skimp on the meat. The poutine was covered with melt in your mouth short ribs and garlicky cheese curds over crispy fries. It did have some flavorful jalapeño gravy but needed a lot more. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and most of us returned home with leftovers. The stroganoff was particularly filling. It was large, packed with flavor and meat. The ambiance of this place is great. It's cute and quaint. That's sort of where it ended for me. Let me lay out the issues that I found here. We sat at the bar which usually does predispose you to not quite the same service as at a table. I never got a refill on my drink even though I literally had it where it could be seen, couldn't even ask for it because we were hardly checked on again. The staff behind the bar seemed more concerned with gossiping about bad customers and how much they hated terms like, "no but I'll take the winning lotto numbers." Granted that is annoying, but you don't sit there and let the customers hear you slamming them.... We also waited an extraordinary amount of time for our check. The food was okay. I had the shrimp and grits and my friend had the eggs Benedict with a side of grits. They were both lukewarm which was a bit strange. That probably is what affected the taste. We enjoyed our first time at the Parkside Restaurant. We went for brunch and I had the Prime Rib Scramble Bowl, and my husband had the special (a chicken and waffle with jalapenos with gravy and a cooked egg on top. I got to try some of his and he tried some of mine, we both agreed that both were so delicious! I also was able to try a peachy mimosa drink that was tasty. We were a party of six at the Wendell Falls today. the food was excellent but the server needs more training. T he smash burger was listed on the board for $9. Five of us ordered it and when the bills came we were charged $11-$13 and when we brought it up to the waitress and she left and the manager came over. He has zero customer service and told us we had to pay the charges because it was an error on the board. I told him I hoped he could survivor on that extra $2 because I would not be back after being treated that way. Parkside is doing a great job during Phase 2. We came in, there are few people in the restaurant so plenty of social distancing. We had just come from an #educatorsforjuatice walk so we needed some a/c. The menu system are large posters spread around or you can pull it up w a WR code. I'm not sure if it's the location off the beaten path or the art-deco corner "Restaurant" storefront sign, but Parkside seemed to beckon like an old house among shiny skyscrapers. It was time well-spent. Starting with NC drafts for $4 helped set the mood. I was feeling a little sentimental and traditional, which means zeroing in on anything remotely steakish on the menu. Bingo! If only there were trufffles, but I won't complain. Starting with a Caesar which was tasty, I was set up nicely for the main event: steak frites (wouldn't you like to sound trendy being able to pronounce that word?). Hint it doesn't rhyme with "bites". They got my "medium rare" just right, and the bed of potatoes was actually a nice touch. I wolfed this all down like a last meal (hey you never can predict). Complimenting the steak was the excellent choice of pan-fried Brussels! I was bouncing back and forth like a pinball machine between Brussels and steak, steak and Brussels, can't stop the bouncing. It was an amazing combo, and I would only fail to recommend this if you are one of the .00005% of humans who detest both medium-rare and Brussels. That seems like it would be about one person per continent, and maybe one of those hasn't tried them fried yet. Enough of that as you hopefully get the point. Wait just one more thing. I was actually completely full after this excursion, so I'd recommend the stop here. Sure, you'll find trendier "hottest place in Rollywood" type establishments, but how many of those downtown joints allow street parking practically outside the front window minus $30 valet fees? First time here and it won't be my last. I came for brunch and I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. They also have parking right up the street from the restaurant. When you turn in the lot, the Parkside parking sign "should" be visible to let you know that they only have numbered spots 20-32 but sometimes it can fall over. You can be towed from that lot if you aren't parked in their spots. Back to the fun stuff: They have drink specials during brunch. There was this $5 mason jar drink with peach schnapps, vodka, champagne and orange juice I believe... Super tasty! Also, $4 mimosas. My chicken & waffles sandwich with tots was good but the harissa syrup stole the show and took that sandwich up a level in taste. Service was really good too. Can't wait to go back. read more

Upon arrival, I noticed that my tater tots had an enormously insane amount of salt in them...they were honestly swimming in it.
