Second time at PS23 and it did not disappoint. I was a little embarrassed to get the Mistress Manhattan but boy oh boy was it worth it. We got the chicken dumpling soup. A little disappointed by the single dumpling. Biggest downside of the nights eve. But the creamed corn made up for it and then some! I could bathe in that stuff. The Parkside burger was delightful and the steak salad is something to write home about....in fact I did call Mrs. W afterwards to tell her how great it was. Seasonal Goodness! This restaurant should be on your favorite list! Every menu item is fantastic. Fresh locally sourced foods, seasonal menu and reasonable prices. We were greeted by a professional staff, seated immediately and our waiter arrived on the spot. Drinks ordered and specials of the day noted, we sat back to take in the ambiance. While the restaurant is bustling, there is still a calm vibe, very smooth. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with Collard Greens! Fantastic! Fresh, piping hot, super flavorful. Next, Corned Beef and Cabbage. Yup, Irish for the day. It's obvious that they prepared the meat in house. Wonderful flavor and very tender, sides were delicious, buttered baby reds and cabbage. Had a lovely birthday dinner here tonight and it couldn't have been better. Our sever, Jake, was so warm and friendly and the food...Highly recommend the chicken dumpling soup - it was perfect for a cold winter evening. The duck breast was cooked perfectly and where else can you find baked Brie served as a side. My wife had the pork chop and it, too, was outstanding. Great food and the outdoor patio is very nice. No reservations for the patio, but usually was able to wait for a table.

A coworker of mine had been telling me to go here for some time now so we decided to celebrate my cousin's birthday there. Their butternut squash risotto is so rich and filling. Made for great leftovers the next day. The rest of our group had a pasta, macaroni and cheese, and a burger. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we also had to get dessert. WOW! We stumbled across this place on our way to Milwaukee. We came in for brunch and left so happy! Mismosa flights, creamed corn and short rib hash. The hash was good, the creamed corn was great, the two together were OUTSTANDING! I love when we can order and share dishes. The food was great, but the real stand out of this place was the service. A staple in the Brookfield/Elm Grove area. They have a garden on the property they use for the produce, which you can't beat. My two faves are the short rib and the scallops. Anything with their seasonal risotto is worth getting as well. Never had something bad here. read more

I made a reservation for My wife and I for Valentine's Day on 1/31/2019 (2 weeks in advance). During that conversation I was informed multiple times that they had a 2 hour deadline and I could only make a reservation if I could be in and out within that deadline. I thought that was a weird constraint but I don't take that long to eat so I obliged. He took down my first and last name as well as my phone number to book the reservation. Present day, Valentine's Day, I called at noon to confirm my reservation and the guy who answered the phone could not find my reservation by name or number. He went to talk to his manager who did not come to the phone, just instructed to tell him they couldn't find my reservation and they were booked but they could get my in at 7:30 pm. I have only been to this place twice before for drinks, both experiences were fine. However, I won't be back after this. I purposefully made reservations 2 weeks in advance and their employees cannot keep track of it. I read on Google reviews that this happened to a couple other customers on other days within the last couple weeks. Secondly, the manager wouldn't come on the phone to admit the fault, just played messenger through the host. Very clumsy and unprofessional in my opinion. EDIT: I got a call from Parkside 23 at 6 pm asking if I was going to show up for my reservation. I asked to speak with a manager and she she checked the name under my reservation and whatever was written down was not even remotely close to a name I gave. They also had my phone number, however, that was not checked this after noon. I am beyond disappointed read more

We love this restaurant. It has great food and service. I would have given it a 5 star except for one issue. We made a reservation for a party of 4 at 10:05AM for a 7:00PM time. At the time I made the reservation, I asked for a booth which was available. When we arrived, I was notified by the hostess that booths were only for groups of 6 so we were seated at a table in the middle of the dining room even though 2 booths were empty.By the time we left, both empty booths had 2 couples(4 people). I was fuming but instead of making a scene, I post this review to let management know not to make promises that you can't keep and have a hostess that lies! The service was great, we checked in on Yelp and didn't have to wait, had we not the wait would have been 45 minutes for dinner on a Wednesday. The scallops were not that great, my friend said it was like eating crab rolled up. She said they had a bit of a fishy taste. I had the filet medallions, pretty good but I didn't really enjoy the veggies or potatoes that came with it. We also had the Brussel sprouts they were over cooked and some tasted burnt. This place is extremely popular in the Brookfield area and I somewhat understand why. Decently good food in a farm to table, up-scale vibe, without driving into downtown Milwaukee. That being said, I thought the service was great. We sat at the bar to have a drink and an app before sitting at our table and it was packed, but the bartenders did a nice job at managing everything. The food was average, in my opinion. We had the lobster bisque to start and it was extremely salty with only two pieces of lobster. We both got the scallops which were cooked perfectly, but they sat in a pool of risotto which I thought was over kill especially considering that the risotto wasn't that great, and could have definitely used more flavor. I think this is a nice place in a nice location for people living in the Brookfield/pewaukee/lake country area, but I'll stick to the similar concept restaurants in Milwaukee that have even better food for similar prices. read more

Sat at a high top in the bar while waiting for a table and the waitress was rude about us not having dinner there? Odd. Our waitress was short with us, sassy about how we wanted the steak cooked, and seemed to give every other table more attention. We asked for a box for leftovers and took about 10 min to get one. We also talked about how it was my moms birthday multiple times, she opened a gift, and opened cards. The waitress never offered a birthday treat but 3 other tables were given a dessert. Mixed reviews on the food. Our favorites were the Creamed Corn and vanilla Creme Brulee. The creamed corn was exceptional and not something I see often. Our entrees were OK. I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon which was good but the parsnips were undercooked. This used to be a pretty good restaurant. Perhaps Parkside 23 has new owners, a new chef, a new manager, but this place is a pale ghost of its former self. As we often do, we chose to eat at the bar. There were a bevy of young women working at the bar, but surprisingly, they all had their backs to us. Rarely are you ignored at a Wisconsin bar, but I guess if the bartenders can't see you, they can't get you a drink. We sat, and sat, and sat while the multitude of bartenders washed dishes, cleaned glasses, and made drinks for the table servers. Finally, one young woman turned around saw us and with a greeting worthy of any chain restaurant script, asked us with a big phony smile if we would like a drink. Yes we would, that's why we're at a bar. After asking for the menu, we waited an inordinate amount of time to place our order. We were staring at backs again. Eventually the menus arrived, and we asked the bartender to describe some of the items on the extensive menu. She literally had no clue and went looking around for someone who could answer our questions. One of the backs turned around after the bartender tapped her on the shoulder, and her advice pointed us to the Burrata and Mozerella Caprese salad. I had never heard of this. Most Caprese salads are made with Buffalo Mozerella. What is Burrata Mozerella? Well, it's Mozerella with Burrata pieces in it, and according to the former back delicious. It wasn't. The cheese was bland and the salad unmemorable. The tomatoes were as bland as the cheese. Our pretzel crusted veal entree was tasteless, and its sauce ruined the crust, making the veal soggy. In summation, the service was laughable and the food forgettable. The former excellent Parkside 23 is a vestige of the past. read more

The outdoor dining for happy hour is the best in western suburbs hands down. Patio is nice and the wine and beer is a good value as is half price flatbreads. The bar is set up nice and the bartenders are great. Everything on the menu and we have sampled almost all the items are prepared well and taste very good. Short rib tacos are exceptional. This restaurant has become our favorite lunch stop. They seat you immediately and if you let them know that you are on your lunch hour, they get you in and out.
