I observed plates and glasses on the bartop and a drain odor upon entering, which prompted me to request a wipe of the bartop. First time to this location, and honestly I didn't even realize there were any Bar Louie's in the greater Milwaukee area, so was pleased to check it out. Came in mid-day on a Sunday for lunch with some girlfriends. I was kind of surprised that the place was almost completely empty if I'm honest. Always a little lack of atmosphere in that case, but oh well! We were sat at a four top near the windows and our server was quick to take care of us. They have quite the extensive menu- something for everyone really. I went with a pick from their burger menu, the mushroom and swiss. It comes with fries but I opted to swap for grilled asparagus which was a solid choice because they were good and well-sauteed. The burger itself was tasty as well. Thick and cooked to medium as requested. Came stacked high with tomato, onion, and lettuce. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals as well, leaving with to-go boxes as portions are generous. Visited this restaurant yesterday with a group of 7 at around 6:15. Restaurant was somewhat busy but service was quick, friendly and efficient. Drinks, appetizers and meals all arrived quickly with sufficient time to take orders, share appetizers, etc. The nachos were plentiful but the toppings were a little scarce, the cheese curds were excellent, very crisp coating served with two dips. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken which was served with roasted potatoes and egg plant. The chicken was very tasty, could have used a few more grape tomatoes but the potatoes and egg plant were tasteless. If they were seasoned you wouldn't have known it. The serving size was large enough to make a take home meal for me. Also had a vodka gimlet served in the usual rocks glass, shortest fill I've ever experienced. My bill for the drink and dinner was $34.75 without tax and tip, a happy hour discount was applied but the bill wasn't clear just how much my savings were since we paid for everything on one card. Total bill for the seven of us was $325.93 discounted to $273.53, so with $65.19 tip came to $338.72. It was a decent experience for a first visit. Great atmosphere and service, but the food and drink missed the mark. This is a spacious, super clean spot with plenty of seating. I opted for a seat at the bar, and while the service was perfectly fine and the staff were attentive, the actual meal was disappointing. I ordered a burger, but it felt pretty generic and lacked structure--it completely fell apart while I was eating it, making for a very messy experience. They barely gave me any fries. To top it off, my beer was flat. It's a nice environment, but the quality of the food and drink just wasn't there for me. read more

Coleslaw tasted like water, sauces was all smashed inside of the containers so they were spilled all over our food, macaroni and cheese tasted like nothing just pasta and butter. Bar Louie was decent. I came here for dinner with a friend. I had the Monterrey Chicken. The chicken itself was dry, but the sauce and veggies were amazing. I'd get that as a side if they had that as an option. Service was fine. I was sad that the wrap I wanted from the online menu wasn't available in the restaurant, but I did enjoy dinner. A couple friends and I went out for a lunch get-together recently - it was all of our first time at Bar Louie and I was pleasantly surprised. As it was early afternoon on a weekday, it wasn't super busy and were able to be seated outside on the patio right away. I got the Green Goddess sandwich with fries as a side and the strawberry lemonade sangria. The sandwich was tasty and surprisingly filling. The only negative was that I felt the sandwich could have used a little bit more salt - it was just lacking a tiny bit in flavor. I dipped it in hot sauce they provided and it was really good that way! The fries were really good - cooked crispy on the outside, right thickness, seasoned properly! The sangria was also good - light, refreshing, and a little sweet. Very good on a warm sunny day! The reason for the four stars is because while our waitress was very attentive at the beginning with taking our orders and bringing out the drinks, the food did take a little while to come out and then afterwards we didn't see her for a while when we needed something, which was odd given that it wasn't very busy. read more

Went for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant was packed for a St Patrick's Day event and seemingly had one server total. First off, the drink menu has my least favorite feature of chain restaurants: no prices. This typically indicates overpriced drinks and I was right. Simple cocktails were $13.75 which is basically downtown pricing. The server seemed fairly clueless. We ordered our kid's meal right away with our drinks. When he came back with our drinks several minutes later, we ordered our food and he confirmed the kid meal choice and that he hadn't entered it! Finally paying our bill took forever as our server ended up seating new people as a host wasn't available, so they were even further understaffed. He was supposed to take off an appetizer from a certificate we had and even mentioned he asked the manager, but when it was time to pay he hadn't removed it still and I ended up using a reward from my account and he never gave back the certificate. Our table had lots of gouges and scratches in it and looked like it needs refinishing or replacing. Overall, felt like a waste of time and money and won't likely be back any time soon. read more

The Bar Louie around us closed a few years ago so when I saw one on my way home around lunchtime, I had to stop in. Hindsight is 20/20 and I should had kept driving. I started with the fried pickles, way too over seasoned. I ended up pulling 75% of the breading off. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger which could have been better if they cooked it correctly. I upgraded to the loaded fries which were a mistake. If you are using queso for your loaded fries, you are doing something wrong. read more

The first thing to note is that it looks like the sort of spot where you would wait for the host to seat you. Not so--it's open seating. Simply find yourself a spot. My dining companion and I easily found a table and were greeted immediately. After perusing their beverage menu, I opted to start things off with a classic old fashioned. The beverage was well made. For my meal, I got their caesar salad with salmon added. I loved the portion of salmon, which was definitely generous. The salmon itself tasted fresh but was a bit overcooked. The caesar itself was ok. I couldn't really discern any parm. I think it was on there--I just think it was powdered (not my favorite). We stopped in for lunch in the middle of the week between appointments. I will admit I did not have high expectations as I had been here a few years ago and I was less then impressed. We were seated immediately however, it took about 10 minutes for a server to come to the table despite only having 3 tables sat at the time. Once our order was taken the service improved and she checked on us regularly. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and the tables are nicely spaced apart. If it were crowded there would be no issue walking through the dining room. The bar looked like a fun pace to sit and we will likely go back to try dinner and see if we have any luck. The hot honey chicken (lunch) and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was crispy and had a good flavor, the sweetness of the honey complimented it well. Date of visit: October 12, 2023 I was a bit wary when a friend suggested a group gathering at Bar Louie; I remember going to the one at Bayshore and finding it impossible to hear a word that anyone said! Thankfully this was a much better experience, with classy ambiance and comfortable seating, plus a space that allowed our group to talk freely and easily. Destiny, our server, was friendly and accommodating, but in a slightly fake way. Her platitudes and compliments were the exact same that she foisted upon other tables, taking something that felt special initially and making it hollow. That being said, she was very attentive and I appreciated the service. My food was just okay; the BBQ Boneless Wings were a bit overdone, as though they had been left in the fryer just a little too long. It didn't kill the meal, but it definitely dried out the wings and I needed a fair amount of ranch to revive them. I didn't bother complaining since they were a happy hour special and were half off; I would have sent them back if they had been the full price $15.25! read more

Both were good, I prefered the pretzel bites but didn't love the cheese it came with. For dinner I had the hot honey chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was huge and drowning in hot honey so it was definitely sticky and messy. I ended up just eating it with a fork and knife. The chicken was good and well cooked. The drinks are very tasty. Great place for groups and kids. The service is usually good. We have gone there every few months when in Milwaukee. While they do have some vegan options, their gluten free options weren't great. It's disappointing when your gluten free option for a burger is NO BUN. The logical thing to do would be to have gluten-free buns available for those that need it. If you do not have any dietary restrictions, they have a great selection of items. read more

Hadn't been to a Bar Louie in over a decade and thought I'd check out the happy hour. Not quite what I remembered but then again times are changing. The portions are sizable, but the quality has definitely gone down. Calamari are very thin with lots of breading boneless wings, not very tender. The tater tots were full price at $12.75. I understand rising food cost but for three appetizers and a soda, we could have gotten a 3 course steak dinner for 2 for the same price across the parking lot. This was my new restaurant of the week to try because I have a new restaurant of the week thing that I do so I stopped by for lunch. The place is a chain restaurant in a mall which is why it took me so long to get here, the fact that I wanted a great adult cocktail today also helped. The place is spacious and and modern looking with a nice big bar, booths and hi tables. With all the flat screens it's a sports bar under the name. I started with the Don Sauza Margarita which was very good. I was craving calamari so I ordered the flash fried calamari and Louie's choice cheeseburger. The flash fried calamari looked amazing with a side sauce and a grilled lemon, the lemon with seafood thing I never understood. The calamari was very good and spicy with a crispy light batter that had rings, tentacles and pickles in the mix. The calamari was seasoned very well also which I like so no bland calamari here. The Louie's choice cheeseburger looked good but it was small with a a thin 1/4 pound patty at the most, I guess for a nice place like this I at least expected a 1/3 pound patty and something more than what every burger chain around offers. The cheeseburger was cooked perfect rare with a soft toasted bun and fresh toppings. Overall it was a nice relaxing lunch that was better than average with a refreshing cocktail so I would definitely go back for more drinks and food. read more

We have been here twice so far, and both times were excellent! Lots of seating availability, and a patio for summer time! The bar is huge, and there's lots of TVs in the place so great place to watch any sports games. Awesome drinks selection, with drink specials always changing! This night I had the Lone Star Lemonade and it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. They also have a drink for a cause, which I thought was a nice way to fundraise for different charities. Appetizers we tried: spinach and artichoke dip (so creamy and delicious, served with hot tortilla chips), calamari (fried super well and came with an amazing side sauce with perfect spice), and Bavarian pretzel bites (YUM, get all the dips with them because they're so tasty and fresh). ALL so good, and all highly recommended. That's My Jam burger was made well, had the perfect amount of toppings on, and all just tasted wonderful together. Great combo they put together. My fiancé got the hot honey chicken, and he said it was phenomenal. The fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely, and the loaded fries (we got them with no scallions) we a nice side option. We really liked that the pickles were served on top of the sandwich, nice touch for the ones that don't overly love pickles. We have had great service both times coming in here, and great food! Bar Louie was great! They didn't have a host/hostess for some reason but someone came shortly after we walked in to tell us it was open seating. We sat down and a server came shortly. The food came within 15 minutes or so. We split a salad as an app it was both huge and great! Their spin on a classic Caesar with charred lemon is really great and makes it taste fresh. The chicken sandwich was also fresh with lots of veggies and the chicken was well cooked and tender. The bread wasn't anything special and it kinda made it seem more like something I could make at home. The fries were thin and perfectly crispy. The Buffalo chicken flatbread also tasted great! This is the first time I've eaten at Bar Louie. My boyfriend was craving a burger so we decided to stop in for dinner. We arrived around 6:30pm and it wasn't busy at all. Since it was our first time, we weren't sure if we had to wait to be seated or not. After waiting for a few minutes, one of the servers came over and told us that we can sit wherever we wanted. We sat and scan the QR code that was on the table for the menu. The online menu didn't have any prices but if you look at the menu through Yelp, you'll find the prices there. We ended up ordering a couple appetizers, fried cheese curds & the calamari, and I ordered the Gastroburger while my boyfriend got the All Nighter burger. We were able to choose how we'd like the patty cooked and choose fries or tots as a side. The burgers were really good and definitely juicy. Both the appetizers were good as well. All the food came out quickly and were nice and hot. The server was very attentive and friendly. Would totally recommend her but I can't remember her name. Before getting apps for happy hour, make sure you ask which ones are discounted. Only 1 of our 3 were though we were told all apps when given menu. Will never order curds or tots here again.
