Our computer crashed last Wednesday, and it took about a week for Parks Computers in Asheville, North Carolina to perform a technological miracle by using a sketchy system backup to raise all my data and programs from the proverbial dead. It was touch and go for days with me riding a roller coaster of emotion as it appeared for a time that all would be lost, but here I am operating in a brand-new computer upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 with all my old stuff at my fingertips. It will take time to work out conflicts between the old and new systems, but it could have been far worse. Park Computers did a great job in clearing out apps that were working in the background that were added without my knowledge. They checked a problem I was having, and improved the operating, of the laptop. The cleaned up the Windows start up page, and restored corrupted files, and when I brought in an external SSDrive the transferred my data and files for me. Ryan was great. I'm not good with computers. I was subpoenaed to testify in a serious kidnapping case and couldn't figure out how to get on ZOOM court. He saw me in 12 hours with court the next day. Been in this case for five years and I thought I was going to miss nailling this really bad person. He installed zoom. Demonstrated the way it works ...basically a tutorial. My anxiety level went down. I'm elderly and feel really stupid because I didn't learn tech. I didn't think it would "turn into anything." Another disability. Ryan was nice about it. In 15 minutes he had checked my non-working monitor, diagnosed the problem, explained it to me, GAVE me a new cable, and didn't charge for his time, even though I was a walk-in and he left another task to help me. Lots of people have their "go to" computer repair shop in Asheville, and though I live 45 minutes away mine is still Parks Computers. Ryan and his staff have always been courteous, respectful, fair, and fast no matter if it was the cracked monitor screen I dropped and needed to be replaced despite being out of warranty and several shipping mishaps, the timely repair I needed during the time of the Cornoa virus today, or the ongoing digital support offered through the interactive Parks System Upkeep tool. I kind of don't want to leave this review for fear that others will swamp them with business and thus make any future work I need get delayed, but the juice is worth the squeeze here and I look forward to continuing to give them on the Lenova laptop I bought almost a decade ago. -=JR=- read more

I dropped my laptop off in September, 2016, they said it would be done in a couple weeks (just asked him to backup my data and wipe the harddrive). It is now January and they still have it. They have not kept any communication with me. I was calling once per week to get updates on how it was going and they told me I didn't have to and they would call me. A month went by without hearing from them so I called again, the owner contacted me to apologize for their lack of communication and said he would do everything to get it back to me ASAP. Another three weeks after that conversation they're still telling me it will be done "this afternoon" or "tomorrow" or "by the weekend"... An entire seasons worth of work I've missed because of their lack of expertise, communication and organization. I am appalled with their lack of customer service and overall unprofessionalism. I chose Parks computers to support a local repair shop. I will never return again and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if things are not settled in an appropriate manner soon. Don't waste your time and money at Parks Computers, there are many other repair shops much more worth your time and effort. I will revise this review if my laptop is ever returned to me. read more

Nice guy, but not so good on the service end. It took way to long and was not very happy with the lack of professional service. Quoted me one price then charged me 40% over that quote. I could have gotten it done quicker, cheaper, and without me having to keep following up with calls to find out the status of my repair. I would not go back and I would not recommend them. read more

I was having issues with determining best way to connect several monitors to port with limited capabilities. The owner, whom I spoke to on phone, was extremely courteous. However he left and the tech that helped me had to literally piece together a solution from parts he had in back and next door, curtly told me what to buy, and charged me for half hour of repair. After leaving the shop to go to big box store (what I wanted to avoid) I realized he oversimplified his solution. I had to spend considerable more time determining solution. Would have appreciated more thorough answer and professionalism from their tech. I realize that I am not most tech savvy, hence why I am going to computer service store. While upgrading my iMac's hard drive to an SSD, I broke the display panel connector off the motherboard. The motherboard for this machine is $850 plus labor - pretty much a death sentence. I called all over town and no one was willing to even ATTEMPT to fix it, even though it only needed two tiny little spots soldered. Well, not exactly no one it turns out. Even though it was almost closing time on a Saturday, he told me to bring it in and he'd have a look. He said he was pretty sure he could fix it but the motherboard would have to come out first, and quoted about 1.5 - 2 hours ($120-160). It took about a week (he had to order a special tip for his soldering iron!) but he called me as soon as the job was done with great news. The motherboard did not have to come out after all so he only charged me $20 for the 15 minutes or so the repair actually took. I would have gladly paid much more and HE KNEW IT, but he just charged me for the actual time. Great guy and great business man. THIS is how you run a local business! read more
