STOLEN CARTIER WATCH!!!…read more We spent roughly €100,000 at Hilton Lake Como. We left without my wife's cartier watch or clear answers. We stayed at Hilton Lake Como for our wedding, hosted our welcome party there, and had family and friends staying at the property. Together, our group spent roughly €100,000. During the stay, my wife's Cartier watch was stolen from our room while we were out to dinner. This occurred after we already refused the evening/turndown service. The watch was a wedding gift from my parents. We reported it immediately and filed a police report the next day. What followed shattered our trust in the hotel. We were told the room access records would be reviewed the next morning. Hilton later said it could not review them without the police present, vaguely citing Italian law. Nearly two months later, we have received no findings explaining who entered our room. When I asked Hilton to identify what Italian law precluded them from reviewing their own records/logs to identify the thief in their staff, they failed to do so. Our concerns extended beyond one room. A guest in our group reported finding a hotel employee looking through her closet while she was showering. My father reported seeing a staff member going through his suitcase in another room (also while he was in the shower). We also reported jewelry missing from my aunt's room. The explanations about our bill changed too. We were told additional alcohol for our welcome party would be complimentary, then billed for it. After discussing a discount, the hotel returned to the full balance and offered to waive it as a "goodwill" resolution for the missing watch. Its insurer declined our claim in one sentence and Hilton refused to make us whole despite how much money we spent there. For a hotel entrusted with our wedding and our guests, this was an unacceptable experience. I would urge anyone considering Hilton Lake Como to think carefully about the security of their belongings and how the hotel responds when something goes wrong. They know their staff has criminals among them and they refuse to investigate. This isn't an isolated incident either. Other online reviews have noted theft in their rooms as well. When we asked the Hilton if there have ever been any reports of theft before, they lied to our face and said no. Online reviews tell a different story.

This review is for the restaurant Veranda as we did not stay in the Villa d'Este hotel…read more We came here for dinner on Friday night along with two other couples. Upon arrival we were told that the men needed to be wearing jackets. I wish that our hotel had told us because my husband had packed one, but luckily the restaurant keeps spare jackets on site for just this situation. The large dining room is incredibly old school with beautiful brass dining chairs laden in blue and yellow striped fabric. When they brought out the wine list I thought it was a joke because it was the size of a dictionary! For dinner I had the beet tartare and the veal filet. The soy marinated tofu was a little bit of an odd flavor combined the beet dish but besides that it was quite good. My husband started with the gnocchi and it may have been the best dish of the night, it was dynamite. In my opinion, my veal filet was better than my husbands beef filet and I also really enjoyed the petite eggplant parmigiana that came with it. Soufflé and ice creams for dessert were a big hit, but I was especially pleased because I asked if they had some dark chocolates off menu and they brought me out a beautiful assortment that tasted as good as they looked. Great restaurant if you are looking for an elegant evening out on the town or an excuse to use the dinner jacket that you packed but thought you wouldn't need.

My room was superb - a breathtaking view of the lake and a beautiful room (and an extremely comfortable bed). The entire property was gorgeous beyond words. We were at Lake Como for my son's wedding. The bride and groom stayed in the 2bd/2ba Villa. The views and the entire space was beautiful. The entire property is extremely well maintained with impeccable attention to every detail. I cannot say enough about the overall wonderful experience we had at Villa Flori. If I could give then 10 stars I certainly would! Food was good - but there are plenty of other wonderful places to eat in Como. If you ask for water, you're lucky to get a bottle. Our room was 105 which is one of two rooms on the first floor. It felt like a dungeon, with barely a view of the entrance parking lot. There was not one moment of silence. The staff "hallway/bathroom??" Is located behind a door next to these two rooms and all night you hear footsteps, toilet flushing, door slamming, chatter, and whatever they roll down the hall. You can hear every street noise and the music from the bar/restaurant late into the night. The the thermostat did not turn on at all which we were told was "controlled by Como" and not the hotel but what resulted was fluctuations between hot and cold with no benefit of ambient noise from a fan. Maybe other guests had a better experience because they weren't banned to the dungeon rooms of the first floor. For as much as we paid to stay in this hotel we should have been afforded the opportunity to enjoy it and have a restful night sleep. The worst two nights I have ever experienced in a hotel. Even entering in the lobby was less copycat same old same old, and closer to elegant home from bygone days. The grounds were immaculately kept and ideal for strolling. The creaky wood floors, the stone stairs, the casement style windows. 18th and 19th century art, frescoes , and occasional chandeliers. And baby grand piano completed the immersion. The modern touches and accoutrements kept the Villa from being a tourist attraction only. Because it was the beginning of the holiday season, the staff took their time decorating each room of the main areas with holiday decor and a beautiful Christmas display right off the lobby. Even outside the building and trees were decorated with white lights giving a warm glow to the property.
