This boutique hotel is Italy's first love hotel; what does that mean? That it's only for couples to stay overnight, and it's focused on providing a romantic stay. They even take a Polaroid photo of you when you finish dinner to remember the night :) The bar area, which offers hot chocolate and season inspired drinks is open to anyone, highly recommend to stop by for drinks or to have a carefree getaway. Hard to find, get to but worth the effort. Breakfast included with the room. Eggs and bacon. Scrambled seems the only alternative to soft or hard boiled served in the shell. Room is glorious with king bed and lake view. Definitely a four star hotel/restaurant with a primo chef. read more

Loved, loved, loved our stay at Al Borducan. It was one of our favorite places in all of Italy. I like the quaintness and personal attention, and the food was fabulous. We had such a relaxing time on the beautiful balcony overlooking the territorial and lake view--great place to have a drink before dinner. We'd planned to go to Lake Como, but this looked like such an interesting place to stay, we came here instead. I'd do it again! The dining room is beautiful, as was our room. Impeccably clean and spacious. This was a great experience, but do NOT follow google maps to get there, (there are some good signs as you get close) or you might be sorry. Easy funicular/bus ride into Varese. This was a relaxing, beautiful place to stay, and the largest room we had by far. read more
