My stay there for a business trip was just fabulous. It wasn't super expensive for European hotel standard, euro 165 a night for a king size bed. Zelo Restaurant, at The Four Seasons Hotel in Milan, is FANTASTIC!…read more While we are fans of The Four Seasons (The Grill) in NYC, we booked Zelo Restaurant at The Four Seasons Hotel in Milan simply because it was conveniently located. We are SO happy we did. We had a wonderful dinner on the bucolic, outdoor terrace. The great staff was professional, accommodating, amiable and attentive . For starters, we shared a trio of tartare, (salmon, tuna and sea bream) which was fresh, tasty and well plated. We then had the sea bass, which was delicately and perfectly prepared, allowing the freshness and flavor of the fish to shine. The gnocchi was also yummy and flavorful. The upscale, pastoral ambiance, excellent service and scrumptious food was highlighted by blueberry and raspberry sorbet and a plate of macarons with fresh berries (which our warm server provided complimentary as a celebratory dessert.) We had such a wonderful, relaxing, civilized and enjoyable evening at Zelo Restaurant at The Four Seasons. The idyllic ambiance, excellent service and scrumptious cuisine all hit the mark! We so highly recommend Zelo Restaurant at The Four Seasons.

My original review was from 2014. This review is based on our stay in November 2018…read more We were excited to go back to this hotel as we really enjoyed our first stay here. This time, the only positive I can give is that the staff members were really nice and there is a great grocery store across the street. Upon check-in, we walked into a packed lobby as there was conference going on. We were greeted by Laura at the front desk, she was friendly and helpful. Laura quickly got us checked in and told us that we could wait for our room in the concierge lounge. The lounge was the same as I remembered, dark, but it had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beverage. The ice situation was not great, just a bucket filled with melting ice that anyone can reach their hands into. And, every night, a group of pilots would sit at the lounge talking for hours, taking up space for other guests that just might want a few minutes to relax. The hotel needs maintenance. The carpets are torn and pieced back together, as is the wallpaper. The room felt dirty, there was mold build up in the bathroom around the sink and tub. At night we wanted to turn on the air, we were told that they turn the AC off for the winter. We opened the sliders which was a huge mistake, none of us were able to sleep between the constant noise of emergency vehicles and the mosquitos! Even though it was winter, we got eaten alive by mosquitos. We decided on the second night to just suffer through the heat. The morning breakfast spread is big with a lot of options, but it is extremely busy. The wait staff members were not friendly or helpful at all. The biggest thing that bothered me is what I will call the smoker's gauntlet. Every time we arrived or left the hotel, we had to walk through the covered area through tons of people smoking, it was absolutely disgusting. I have no idea why this hotel can't find another area and dedicate it to smokers. The location of the hotel is a bit far from tourist stuff, but it is a quick walk to the subway. Marriott needs to take a look at this property and put some money into renovating it.
