Holy he!!z. Villa Torretta exceeded expectations. It truly did have the characteristics of a villa (which it was) just modernized (which it has been). Even entering in the lobby was less copycat same old same old, and closer to elegant home from bygone days. Beautifully decorated with modern vision but retaining old world characteristics, it struck the perfect balance. The iron gates at the entrance to the driveway when closed at night seem to settle the property into its own self-contained exclusive retreat. The grounds were immaculately kept and ideal for strolling. The creaky wood floors, the stone stairs, the casement style windows. 18th and 19th century art, frescoes , and occasional chandeliers. And baby grand piano completed the immersion. The modern touches and accoutrements kept the Villa from being a tourist attraction only. Because it was the beginning of the holiday season, the staff took their time decorating each room of the main areas with holiday decor and a beautiful Christmas display right off the lobby. Even outside the building and trees were decorated with white lights giving a warm glow to the property. Absolutely wonderful from first night to the last. Upon check in , we were upgraded due to our statues and greeted well. Explained about the hotel, bar , breakfast. Beautiful king room. Exceptional housekeeping as well as driver for our requested transfer . Had dinner for three nights at the restaurant and loved every second of the service and meal . Everyone was very good but a very special thanks to Sara . She was the sweetest . I will return to this hotel in the future . read more

Villa Torretta is a beautiful Hilton Curio Collection hotel that I stayed at from December 24-28. I stayed here with one other person and it was more than enough room for the both of us. As a diamond members, we got upgraded to a king junior suite. The suite was very large and there was nothing "junior" about it. The living room was very spacious, the bedroom had a large cal king bed, and the bathroom was large. It was fitting for two of us. We were also offered complementary 7am-11am breakfast each day. Here are my pros and cons of my stay here: Pros: - Checking in was quick and the receptionist was very nice and helpful - We got a complimentary dessert gift upon arriving - Large rooms. Living room and bedroom was divided. Both were huge. - Cal King bed was very comfortable. The pillows were nice too. - Rooms were cleaned and cleaning crew was great - Robes and slippers were provided - One of the best complementary breakfast for diamond members. Otherwise you can pay for it - Beautiful hotel. The design is nice. - There is a 24 hour gym - 10-15 minute walk from train station - I liked their large bathroom. They had had a rain head shower option. - Light up makeup mirror for my girlies - There was a fridge and waters were stocked everyday. They gave us mineral and still waters. - Complimentary WiFi - Large safe in room - Right across from a mall - Service was overall great and quick - Elevators were quick Cons: - Far from Milan (about a 20-30 minute train ride) I was honestly very happy with our stay here and couldn't have asked for anything better. I felt we were taken care of and looked after. I recommend it if you are looking to stay at a place. The only thing is it isn't super centralized but the train rides weren't bad. read more

Amazing hotel just a bit out of downtown. The service was amazing and we arrived just a bit late for lunch and early for dinner. The staff was amazing getting some snacks for my kids before we were even checked in. The rooms are beautiful and the dining room amazing. The customer service was top notch, bed was super comfortable and we even had a private courtyard to relax in. Thank you for an amazing stay! read more

Terrible experience. Yes, it has a great location with outstanding views. And easy access to train and boat transportation. Nice and clean too. But so lacking in basic conveniences, accommodations, and amenities that staying there is unbearably uncomfortable. We arrived at Villa Torretta about 3:30pm and stepped into its ground floor entrance; we were greeted by a lady's voice at the top of a long, steep staircase saying "come on up". I asked if there was a lift since we had 2 relatively heavy suitcases and she said there was no lift and to come up to the lobby. I asked if there was anybody to help with the bags and she said there was no one. So, I lugged our bags up a story and a half. After getting that far she told us our room was on the top floor, the third story up. I told her that it would be impossible for us to carry our bags that much further; we are in our 70's and just getting the bags as far as we did exhausted us. She said "take what you need for the night out of your bags, leave them here, and someone will bring them up tomorrow morning." While we were put off by the initial experience, we did go to the room. It was small, plain, and lacked amenities but it had a fabulous view of Lake Como so we decided to stay. Since our room only had 2 bath towels and no hand towels or wash cloths, on our way out to dinner we asked for additional towels. We were told they had none and she suggested we use the linens from the bidet! She said, and I quote "they are clean enough for your face." We asked about breakfast; some on-line sites said it was included, others said it was available for a small extra charge. However, we were told there would be no breakfast at all. Not a big deal, but uncommon. Returning to our room after dinner we felt the room was already getting uncomfortably cold. And the forecast was for overnight lows in the 50's F (it was late October). We asked for heat in our room and were rudely told "there is no heat, there will be no heat, nobody wants heat." I said that is unacceptable and she basically said "fine, then you can leave." Unfortunately, by now it was too late to do anything except tough it out for 1 night and find a different place for the remaining 3 nights of our Lake Como stay. read more
