This hotel has rooms with good space for European standards and a balcony facing lake como. The hotel location is awesome since it's very close to the lake boat dock (to see other lake cities like Bellagio) , the Duomo and central square of Como. There are tons of great places to eat great food. The staff is friendly and helpful. Daniel the bartender was amazing and great, made hand crafted cocktails. Breakfast here was very good and satisfying. We loved staying here at this hotel. I recommend paying a little more with a balcony view. read more

Very old school style. Ornate gold in rooms. Amazing staff! Great local too! Centrally located in Rome.

When we arrived we were able to pay a little extra and upgrade to a lake front room. We had a nice king-sized bed on the 1st floor which is actually the 2nd floor. It also had a bathtub--a huge plus. The temps dropped during our stay and the heater didn't work in our room. When we told management they immediately sent a technician. When they couldn't fix it right away they offered to move us or provide a portable, electric heater. We opted for the latter since we leave tomorrow. After a full day exploring Como we returned to find complimentary tea and coffee in our room with an extra blanket on our bed. What nice hotel. Alert: Avoid this hotel like plague. Old dingy rooms, rude staff all an overall ill equipped space Its an overpriced hotel with extremely poorly behaved front office staff. The rooms are old not worth $300 tag. (1) They burnt my new dress that i gave for laundry and wanted me to take it up with their outsourced laundry service vs. providing me with any options. Its been over 24hrs since I showed them the burnt dress with no solve from their side (2) The lady at the front office today (26July 9pm) behaved as if it was my fault to not carry the receipt for the burnt dress to prove its cost (3)God forbid if you expect to use iron coz they only have one and that resides in a room next to reception you have to take your turn come down and use it !! It is my first time in Como and I'll leave feeling bitter and disrespected. No one in there sane mind should expose themselves to the rude staff here. read more

Eh!! Como/Lake Como in general is expensive but this was the overpriced and underwhelming experience. The location! The location is mainly what you'd choose this spot for but that's about it really. There are so many beautiful cities/towns on Lake Como but this is the Como of Lake Como. Trendiest according to the locals; just means it's a bigger city compared to the rest. A lot more populated. More food options but not that many. They have a disco/club, a lot of ways to travel and more people. But that's about it. This was 3x overpriced because of the location: right next to the marina! You can walk here after you get off from the ferry/ boats. You can walk to train station on the way back: I took a train to Milano after from here. It was pretty easy and of course faster and cheaper than all the water transportations. Also not that you can take a boat to milan anyway. The hotel itself is old and have run down rooms. I got the king room with the view: great for people watching since it rained a lot. The marina, the panorama views and all that was pretty great for staying in. It's also can be quite cold here early mornings and evenings. They didn't have ubers but they had a lot of small restaurants and bars in town. It gets quite fast. You can walk to everywhere: I love the cobble stone roads and the Duomo. When I didn't wanna get out, I got the food deliveries! The town is quite big but everything is out of the way. So the delivery helps! For the room: a ok bed. Could be better. Lobby was nice. Breakfast included but I didn't care for it. I did get a few cappucinis here in the morning. The lobby was helpful with my food deliveries. My hotel in Bellagio was stunning with my own villa, massive room, stunning terrace and the price was the same as this. ie this was just overpriced. A ok for location but I'd probably check elsewhere first!! read more

The restaurant at Barchetta offers a lovely alternative to the loud, tightly packed trattorias commonly found in the area. The surroundings are comfortable, the tables spacious, and the service very attentive. You'll find a wide array of local meat, fish, and vegetable dishes and an extensive wine list featuring the best of the Lombardia region. Burrata appetizer was authentic and decadent. Served with fresh basil, tapenade, and a unique tomato-bread cassoulet. Primi first course of Gnocchi verde. Wonderfully laced with tomato cream. Delicate yet full flavored. We decided to share our first courses and the kitchen was kind enough to split and plate them separately prior to service. This was a nice touch not found at most restaurants. Secondi Entree of Perch filets served of silky risotto was outstanding. Entree Bronzino (sea bass) was delicate, moist, and delicious. Served with local broiled tomatoes and potatoes. Wine from Lombardia and Campania was amazing. We had no room for dessert, but the brought a small cookie plate out anyway. Much appreciated. Pro: Location overlooking Lake Como. We had a mid to top floor room overlooking Piazza Cavour. Con: Our room overlooking the Lake and Piazza Cavour because during the first day of our stay (Saturday), there was an endless cavalcade of low-end race or rally cars being displayed in the square and endless music and emcee shouting in the microphone for at least 8 hours straight and into the night. We asked to be switched to a room facing the back of the hotel and were not accommodated. The most disappointing thing is that we paid for the lake view, but couldn't even enjoy it the first day because of the endless screaming of the emcee in the square below. Pro: Staff was very friendly and breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods. Con: As other reviewers have indicated, the A/C must have been turned off. The staff did not tell us at the time and the hotel lobby was very warm, as was our room. We had to open up the balcony door to cool off the room. Coupled with the screaming emcee made for a disappointing first night. As we looked at the hotel from the outside, there were usually a dozen or so rooms with open balcony doors, I'm sure to cool off their rooms. Pro: Overall location in Como. We were glad we chose the city of Como as our home base for our 2 day trip. Con: One of our bath towels and our flat bedsheet had holes in them. Con: Much like most Italy hotels, the shower door setup is such that they might as well not even have the partial shower door because you're going to soak the bathroom floor whenever you take a shower anyway. Pro: Pretty close to both of the 2 train stations in town, as well as most things you would want to see in the city of Como. Con: The free wifi is only for 2 devices, so you have to ask for an additional sticker with a different wifi code. That would have been nice to know before laying in bed at the end of the night trying to access wifi on all of our devices. Would not stay there again if I was in the area. read more

We were in Lake Como for the first time and we're lucky to had found this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and they had a wonderful staff. They were knowledgeable and very polite. The location is absolutely great. You walk out of the lobby and you're in the Lake Como Town Center. The breakfast was very good, as well. Highly recommended for a clean, nice and reasonably priced hotel. In the month of July the room with the city view was about $250/night. read more

Out first leg of 15 days tours provided by tour company. Stayed two nights in Como. Hotel was located front of Lake Como with very nice view. I wouldn't mind if we stay in Como longer perhaps next time we will say here Currently I'm in Rome and looking back this hotel is my favorite place we stayed. Como is not a large city, good air without smogs like Napoli. Good Americans styled breakfast buffet but just as any another buffet nothing is exceptional. Very helpful staff. They arranged a car to pick us up in Milan, husband disabled so that was a great help. The staff while staying there was incredibly nice and very helpful. We thought as others did that the room was overpriced. We did have a room for disabled which was great for my husband. The shower, however, didn't have a high enough lip and the floor got so wet that I had to ask for someone to clear the drain as I was afraid my husband would slip. It was done promptly. We had a nice dinner in the hotel the first night, very good and good service. We loved being so close to the lake it was a five minute scooter ride for my husband.Also not too far away was the vehicular which I highly recommend, you get a great view of the area and there are restaurants and shops at the top. Elena was outstanding at the hotel. She really took care of us very well. I would stay again. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Barchetta Excelsior during our honeymoon. If you want a lake view in the city of Como, there are surprisingly few options. That was important to us so that is one of the main reasons why we chose the Hotel Barchetta. We went one step above the most basic room and it was fine for what we needed. It definitely wasn't fancy but it was very clean. The best part was the balcony. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room. The sunset was spectacular. The staff at the hotel was also very nice and very helpful. The location is great because the boat launch is right across the street so it's a convenient for day trips to other locations on the lake. Also, there are two train stations within walking distance to the hotel if you're coming in from Milan. read more
