Cha giò (accents are not working on yelp) was good, the wrapper they use is real banh trang (not egg roll wrapper) which is not always used in restaurants and I like it. The wrapper was nice and crispy. It had a clear meat flavor in the rolls. The pho had stronger notes of star anise and cinnamon but good. Why don't they use nice, big soup spoons here for pho? For soup, we were given large flat metal spoons. It took me forever to eat. It was hot inside the restaurant, but the good food made up for it. Even if you don't speak French getting a table and ordering should not be a problem. read more

Although the Yelp information indicates its open from 10:30AM until 10PM, Paris Hanoi closes like many Paris restaurants at 2:30 in the afternoon for a 4 hour break. Then they start up again for the evening crowd. I found this out the hard way by making the trek from the 1st to the 11th, arriving at 2:30 only to be turned away. It all worked out for the best however because by 8PM, five of us had joined the crowd standing outside Paris Hanoi waiting for a table. The wait in line was about 45 minutes and worth every bit of it. I had shrimp stir-fry and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The meal comes in a large bowl with the rice already added. And importantly - its not over salted! At the table we had curry, noodles, imperial rolls (crispy rolls aka nems (Fr.)), etc. - nothing was left. The line stayed in place outside until after 10. We were lucky enough to be seated directly in front of the open kitchen. I really like the open kitchen - nothing to hide and all good. Service was fine. This is a great Paris value meal. Its walkable from Bastille but there are also buses that run until late. Taxi back to the 1st is only about 10Euro. Oh yeah - no credit cards taken - bring cash money...Euros that is. read more

Paris Hanoi is usually amazing. I dine here weekly, sometimes I come even twice a week. Ive dined and done take out. Even when they are busy, they are fast but service is really a mixed bag. I've taken a ton of my friends here and they are hooked too! Let's start with their food: I've tried their ice coffee (just black coffee with tons of sugar, definitely not Vietnamese style with condensed milk so not worth it), pho (awful, REALLY, don't get it), beignet appetizers (basically fried shrimp, not amazing), and their winner: the BO BUN NEM!! The bo bun NEM is beyond amazing. Like where do I even begin? For 11.5€, you get perfectly cooked noodles, fresh vegetables, thinly cut steak pieces usually cooked to perfection, sauce, and two fried egg rolls. Their egg rolls are amazing. So good that I would be okay with myself ordering more. But this dish isn't consistent. Sometimes I get meat that's partly pink (awful). Sometimes I get little sauce. Sometimes I get barely any veggies. But usually it's good and it comes piping hot! I've ordered this dish as a take out and it works. You just have to eat it fast or else it gets a little swollen if that makes sense. The reason they aren't five stars is the service. Sometimes the food comes out cold, I have to wait forever for the menu or to be acknowledged, the server is just plain mean. One time my friend put in an order and tried to change it because she can't eat beef and the guy refused. They could have easily changed it but no. She had to pick out all the beef and it was the saddest thing ever. You pay at the cash register and sometimes they just throw the check at you. This place is strange but the food is good. If you come early, there is no wait. They also have sriracha which is RARE in Paris. read more

Arrive early for delicious and affordable food. I went upon the recommendation of a friend from Paris and this restaurant did not disappoint. If you don't want to stand in a long queue, I advise arriving early. We came about an hour after opening at exactly dinnertime on a Thursday, and waited about half an hour, which wasn't too bad. It helped that it was just two of us. The food was great and the portion size was generous. I would describe the prices as "Paris-cheap," the prices are cheap, for this city. read more

Short review but not much to say! Good selection of dishes and very large portions but food lacks spice and flavour (I guess it's been adapted to French tastes). Um what? What a random pho spot we found while walking around. The weather was chilly and a bit gloomy, and we were hungry! Pho is definitely a cure all for this mood. The place was packed and rightly so. Tbh I didn't expect much of Vietnamese food in Paris but wow I actually really enjoyed this pho! I was skeptical at first because it seemed like there was an interesting mix of customers and not really any Vietnamese but it was very good. It's quite small and you may be sat next to strangers, but it was a comfortable and buzzy atmosphere. If you come across it then I say check it out. read more

Good Vietnamese food in Paris! Love this place, the food was good, but the space was so tight and stuffed. When you step out of this restaurant you smell like you just stepped out from some Vietnamese Kitchen. Their service was good, your order comes up in less minutes than any other restaurant. The down side for me, is the waiting and not having the space for their customers to wait. Any thing can happen by standing outside by the door, it is literally 2 feet from the major road. read more

Ok, not going to lie - be prepared to wait a bit for the BEST VIETNAMESE EVER ! True, that may be an exaggeration. However, it's very *very* good noms and even my friends who hate waiting in line get excited to go back. Once you are seated, it isn't more than 10 minutes to start eating so really the time you would normally spend chatting with your friends before the meal is spent outside instead of at the table. If you can't get over the idea of waiting then just get takeout ! Show up, walk inside, make your order and BOOM. In 5 min you have poulet a la citronelle sur legumes et riz to go ! Some of the best food I have ever, ever put in my mouth, and I am picky with Vietnamese food as I live in Los Angeles, which has an excellent selection of that cuisine. I got the Bo Bun (beef with vermicelli, peanuts, bean sprouts, Thai basil, lettuce), a fried egg roll, and a Spring roll. Everything was amazing. The beef was some of the most flavorful and tender I have ever eaten, and the fried egg roll was as good as Golden Deli's in the SGV, which is the best I've ever had--tender, packed with taste, perfectly crispy. (Insider tip: did you know that egg rolls come with lettuce because you are supposed to wrap it around the roll?) Like others have said, I had to wait in line when I got there--about 40 minutes on a Tuesday at 8pm. I was exhausted and really hungry. It was worth every second. Plus, the food is served quickly--we got our rolls with 5 minutes and our main dishes within 15, even though the place was packed and people were getting takeout. I've visited a few Vietnamese restaurants in Paris including Pho Banh Cuon 14, Le Bambou, and Foyer du Vietnam, but this is definitely my favourite so far. The food served is pretty typical of the Vietnamese food you would get in North Vietnam. The spring rolls @ E0.80 per piece were piping hot straight from the fryer, and the dipping sauce was as close to what would be prepared in my household, so two thumbs up there. The pho noodle soup had the underlying aniseed flavour you would expect and two types of beef (tender beef shin marbled with fat), and the rare beef steak that was left to cook in the hot broth. My b/f's meat patties with vermicelli rice noodles were moist and the accompaniments of coriander, pickled carrot and turnip, mint, bean sprouts and chopped roasted peanuts made for a lovely light lunch. Warm service and lovely people too. Would come again for my Vietnamese fix. read more

This is a small Vietnamese restaurant. In the evening it opens at 7 pm. After half an hour it was full and people had to queue outside and await their turn to be seated. It has a couple of dish categories like soup , noodles or meat. But be aware that all dishes are a full meal. I took the chicken in lemon balm. It was accompanied by rice and fried vegetables. We waited and waited and waited and it wasnt that bad. You get to look into the resto while you wait and the passerbys are of interest. Once in its like being in Hanoi in the winter back in the early 90's when restos were far and few between and you would really be huddling around the front of a family's home. The kitchen is tiny and those coming in to pick up food to go are plenty. The staff is super efficient and you are barely made aware of all that has to take place to keep this place humming. The portions are generous and the beef and pork over rice noodle dishes look yummy. We had spring rolls and Pho. It was fine. In truth though, its not super special. I think when you have spent time in Vietnam, live in SF where you have slanted door at the high end and Polk street vendors at all price levels you get spoiled. I guess the deal is that its new and cool for Parisians and Id say that if I lived there, id go back however next trip to Paris will not include another go. read more

Went there during a business trip cos the owners are authors of one of my favourite cooking books. At 11:45 am there was already a small queue and 30 minutes after opening 12:00am for lunchtime) the place was fully occupied. I loved the phô which I had being prepared with blanched beef fillet which was really tender. Nice broth, lotta fresh herbs and on my special request 2 more fresh chilies :) I've to say I loved the atmosphere of this small n packed place with the open kitchen. Seemed to me a bit more like Asian street kitchen than the nice n stylish small places of my hometown Berlin (don't get me wrong- I love this style too). Each time we walked by Paris Hanoi, the long waiting line caught our attention. This is obviously a very popular place. So, last week my boyfriend suggested to have dinner here! We didn't have to wait very long and got seated at a table right next to another couple. Don't go here if you want a romantic tête-à-tête ;) The place is busy and crowded, but actually that's part of the charm. You come here for the food, and the food is good! The noodles and the chicken curry we ordered were not mind-blowing, but still very tasty and satisfying. The portions are large (you can take the leftovers home if you want) and the prices are very democratic, so that's a great combination! The service was quick and efficient.
