Pho in Paris! w00t. :)
Thankful for yelp, as always to locate favorite cuisines when you are traveling, within the USA or even overseas here in Paris, France. With that said, I was grateful to have found a Vietnamese restaurant relatively close to my hotel in Co Tu in central Paris. The experience here was rather typical of your Vietnamese restaurants in the States, so it was the same here overseas in Paris. The restaurant was simple and the ambiance was what I was used to. I came here for dinner on a whimsical night of possibilities and after a lovely day of sightseeing in Paris via L'Open bus tour. What can I say, I am a sucker for a good bowl of Pho.
Co Tu Vietnamese restaurant is located at 24 Rue de la Croix Nevert in central Paris. The parking on the street is really ridiculous, if you think about it. Why do people drive anyway, when you can take the Paris Metro? Best bet is that you should take the metro or the bus. Save yourself some time and €€ too. Co Tu Vietnamese restaurant accepts credit cards, although cash is king here. This is your typical Vietnamese restaurant, where they serve not just Pho, but their bun rice dishes as well. Not to mention other savory options to die for. For me, I just stuck to what I love, which was the combination Pho (pho Bac diet) and a generous smattering of summer rolls to round out the meal. The prices here is more pricer than what I am used to, especially when you do the foreign exchange math in your head. Yes, it is expensive, but in Paris, its nice to indulge once in a while!
And so, I had the aforementioned Pho Bac diet as well as the summer rolls with peanut sauce. It was interesting to see that I had bean sprouts presented to me, but there was no traditional basil that I am used to. Maybe they were out at the time. I don't know for sure, since I didn't ask. One thing was for sure that Pho was a blessing for me, when I was craving my fix after traveling to France from the USA. The summer rolls were good, dipped in the traditional peanut sauce and squirted with the awesomeness of shiracha. The Pho itself was technically not bad at all. It was pretty darn tasty and had a right assortment of flavor of the broth and the rice noodles hit the spot. Very flavorful when you needed it the most! This combination of Pho and summer rolls do fill me up. They have the Pho bowls in one size, so do be prepared on this, when I have been to restaurants where they have multiple sizes for Pho in the USA.
Yep, this place is worth your euros, if you enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in Central Paris. The overall experience here at Co Tu was a good one and brought back some good experiences back home with Pho. Definitely will recommend this place to lovers of Pho and Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant is clean and orderly, yet simple and vibrant with serendipity. It makes me smile when Pho is at your fingertips.
