Dong Phat is portrayed to be a Vietnamese restaurant, but there were no Vietnamese staff there. It…read moreshould have been a warning sign for me when there was Chinese dim sum on the menu. The menu doesn't even have Vietnamese writing on it. It has Chinese characters. Led by misleading reviews I came here hoping for an authentic Vietnamese meal during my Paris travels, but my trek in the rain to find this place was not rewarded. The interior was tight. You may have to move tables or ask other patrons to get up for you to squeeze into your seat. My boyfriend had the Soupe Tonkinoise au Bouef et Boulettes (11€) which in Vietnamese is a Pho Tai Bo Vien and I had the Riz Luc Lac au Boeuf (12€) which in Vietnamese should be the Com Bo Luc Lac. The meal was affordable and it tasted okay but my issue is the lack of authenticity. Com Bo Luc Lac usually has onions and tomatoes with the beef. This was only beef and there was no sauce glaze on it. Also restaurant usually served it with a side of salad. Vietnam is an agricultural country and most of our dishes usually have a plethora of veggies. My boyfriend isn't even a picky guy but he said his Pho was below average. I'm not sure why this place has great ratings... maybe there was a recent change in ownership and it's no longer what it used to be.

Sometimes while traveling you just need some pho in your life. Found this place close by to where I…read morewas staying and it was overall pretty delicious. No rare steak option for pho which I found odd, but the meat inside my pho was pretty good even though it already came cooked. Ate dinner on the cute patio space which was also lovely given the weather was perfect. Servers were definitely hustling and were quick to fill my water and bring out the food.

Yesterday at a nice bistro I got a salad to lighten things up, and it had so much creamy dressing, I was right back where I started. Needing a change, I headed for Foyer Mon Vietnam, up a small street close to a pretty happening area of the latin quarter. The place is cozy and welcoming, clean, with plants, warm lighting, and reasonably sized and spaced tables (indoor dining only). The service was super friendly and fast. But best of all the food was so FRESH and DELICIOUS. I walked out with a spring in my step. Tomorrow I will eat a kilo of cheese again, but for now I am light and free! We had crab & shrimp rolls (fried so crispy but not oily at all, with tasty sauce that was tangy, light, and perfect without being goopy/thick, with accompanying lettuce and mint leaves, ordered a 2nd round it was so good), papaya salad (crisp fresh vegetables, fresh shrimp, great light dressing, no overwhelming garlic), lemongrass chicken (good quality white meat chicken, nice variety of colorful vegetables in various shapes that aren't just boring chunks, and just the right amount of spiciness), and white rice to balance it out. Summary is this was fresh, light, high quality ingredients, friendly service, and a welcome break from the otherwise heavy cuisine common in the city. I will be back!

After some searching, I found this place that seemed promising. I ordered the pho, but it was a major letdown. I didn't have high expectations, but it still managed to disappoint. The veggie portion was minimal, the overall portion was small, and the pho had just a hint of its usual aroma. I've had everything from authentic pho to halfway decent versions, but this was bare-bones pho. On the plus side, they didn't dilute the broth, so it wasn't completely watered down. I'd give it 3 stars, but I won't be coming back.
