Uber Eats # clearly was there even on receipt for them to call to reach me about the issue
    Ipsita D.

I'd been excited to see that there was a Paris Baguette now in nearby Hoboken that was on Uber Eats because previously I'd gotten some of their beautiful cakes (that were lightly sweet not cloying/overly rich) & some other items that were decent--but that was when I went to their Manhattan stores in person. Sadly today's order via Uber Eats was a complete waste of money. I opened my order to find 3 items missing, with just an extra donut instead. I called the store & the person who packed my order actually was the one who picked up--she said that they don't carry the pineapple pastry I ordered anymore so she didn't know why it was on the Uber Eats site (umm call to take it down, not my problem is it) and didn't give a reason about the missing pain au chocolat. I asked why she didn't call me to ask what I wanted as substitute instead of assuming 1 donut was a good enough replacement for 3 items? Her response was that they don't have my phone number which was nonsense since as I pointed out to her they have a number to call at Uber Eats to connect them with the customer (which as you can see is even on the receipt). She could have even asked the Uber Eats driver to call me but she didn't even tell him the situation so he was very confused when I first called him to ask if he'd packed the order or if he'd forgotten to take anything. Didn't even put a note in the bag about what happened. Anyway so she then had me hold for her manager saying she could give me a refund. But no, the manager came on the line saying since I ordered via Uber Eats & not them directly I'd have to contact Uber for a refund. When I said they should have contacted me to find out what I wanted substituted, her only response was "yeah, sorry". Didn't ask if they could send me something else now or anything. Just a waste of time. I requested a refund for the missing items from Uber Eats, but that's never ideal for various reasons, and irrelevant to the lack of customer service here. Anyway, as for the items I did get--not good at all. Everything was cold even though I'd selected the "warmed" option. The "frank pastry" was not with a frank (hot dog) at all but a weird-tasting sausage. The pizzetta was edible but meh. The coffee donut was excessively sweet (but bland) with lots of sugar but not really any coffee taste. The butter pecan latte had ZERO taste of butter pecan & had no sweetness even--I'm convinced they just gave me a watery sugarless regular latte instead. Very disappointing & a waste of money. And I think they jack up the prices on the delivery apps, since everything looked pricier than I remember in-store. I would advise people stick to going in-person just for their cakes, assuming those are still good, though I don't know about this location.

Given the lack of Asian bakeries in the area, this Korean-French bakery-coffee shop is a nice addition to Hoboken. It's got a nice, big seating area with plenty of natural light. Service is also good and friendly. I ordered through their app for pick up and the process was seamless. Here's what I got: Iced matcha latte - while I liked the flavor of the drink, the texture of the drink is a little grainy. The matcha powder didn't seem to be fully dissolved. Flavor wise, it's got a nice balance of bitterness from the matcha, the creaminess from the milk and whipped cream and slight sweetness from the sugar. I probably would get a different drink next time to avoid the graininess. King cream donut - very good. This is a fluffy, airy powdered donut that is filled with light, custard cream (lighter than the usual Boston cream donut). Pastry frank - hot dog wrapped in a croissant and sprinkled with parsley. It was not bad but just alright. Felt like it could be more flavorful with cheese added. I preferred the hot dog wrapped in panko bread crumbs but it wasn't available in this location. Toast it when you are ready to eat it. Ganache cream cake slice - this cake is yum! Light chocolate sponge cake layered between thick, rich, chocolate ganache and wrapped in a layer of chocolate shell. It also comes with a macaron. It's bittersweet and well balanced. One of their "richer" cakes compared to the others which are made with chiffon cake and whipped cream. Curry croquette - bun filled with Japanese curry, vegetables and fried is a crunchy panko breadcrumb. I like the super crispy crust and the moist, sweet-spicy filling. Pretty good! There isn't street parking an available in the area and be careful not to leave your car in the dead end driveway as it can get booted. Pumpkin latte ok, cake good, bathroom amazing. I would recommend the twisted donut or the milk bread.

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!

After being away from Jersey for about seven years, I came back with high expectations and memories of pastries that once set the standard. The Kouign-Amann used to be the star--beautifully buttery, flaky, crunchy on the outside, and moist on the inside. Now it's dry and lacking the rich flavor it once had. The madeleine was another disappointment: dry and forgettable. To add to the frustration, their policy of not accepting $50 or $100 bills feels unnecessary and inconvenient. The one saving grace, and the reason I'm giving them three stars instead of less, is their financiers. They remain excellent--moist, nutty, and full of flavor, just as I remembered. I truly hope Choc·O·Pain can return to its glory days, because when they're at their best, few bakeries can compare.

We grabbed seats in their main dining area and managed to avoid being seduced by the crusty bread, buttery croissants, and other sweet desserts that lined the display cases next to us. Sticking to drinks only, I ordered a warm, almond milk cappuccino, which was rich, creamy, and well-balanced. There was apparently another floor of tables above us, which would make a great working space, though I did not see it myself. Overall, Choc O Pain is a lovely, charming French patisserie worth a visit.

Place is a hole in the wall to the point that I walked right past it. Lone server inside was very friendly. Definitely a 'get your shit and go' kind of place, but what do you expect with Hoboken real estate. Got a red eye over ice, which was slightly burnt but still good. For food I tried the La Rustica sandwich, which has proscuitto, stracchino cheese and truffle cream on homemade bread. The bread was great and I could've had just that. Decent amount of proscuitto however the price ($16) justified that. Cheese didn't do much for the sandwich, as it was outmuscled by the proscuitto and just added a touch of cream. Truffle was similarly lost. All in all could do better, could do worse. Donut bites, on the other hand, were freaking money. Got 3 of the ones with custard and should've gotten a dozen. That made the place itself. Lots of other interesting things here worth trying. Wish I could a sandwich with mozzarella as there were plenty of others that looked good too. Definitely would give this another shot, as there's some good stuff here!
