The gym is great, great backboards, and would be perfect if it wasn't for the floors. It's hard to plant or change direction/do any type of movement without having your feet slip, so this feels really dangerous at times if you're trying to play a game. I would recommend just shooting around or playing very casually if playing indoors. There are 2 outdoor full courts with 10' rims on one end and about 9'6" on the other end. These courts would have also been perfect if it wasn't for the short hoops at one end. I'm really not sure why it was made this way, but I usually go here to play halfcourt. Other than that, there are really good single rims and above average backboards (especially for an outdoor court). The flooring here is nothing like I have ever seen before and it grips really well! It also feels a little easier on the knees than a traditional outdoor court. On a nice day it can get REALLY packed so you might have to wait for a court or try to play pick-up. There are also 2 public tennis courts in the area that can also get busy. They are really well maintained, but it can also get busy on a nice day!

Because I couldn't find any open parking spaces and people were lined up outside the recreation center, I ended up leaving to go to another polling place. Lynwood Park is on Osborne Road, and you either know exactly where it is, or just accidentally stumble upon it because you're completely lost. It's definitely in an out of the way location, but that's what makes it nice. The second time I came to this park, it was to practice my tennis serves. The park has two tennis courts that are well maintained, especially for being in a public park. The courts are first-come, first served. Tennis players are generally polite and will not hog the tennis courts. While I was there for a little over an hour, I noticed that there were playground equipment for kids to climb on, a covered picnic area with tables, two full sized basketball courts, a swimming pool and a multi-use grass field. I didn't go into the recreation center, so I have no idea what's in it. I haven't been to Lynwood Park often enough to get a better feel of the vibe, but I'm sure I'd be using most of the facilities constantly if I lived nearby. My picture didn't actually do any justice to the appearance of the park because the park looks much nicer in person. Drop me a note if you want to hit some tennis balls with me!

Two things to watch for is parking can sometimes be an issue if there's a soccer match. Also, the trash situation is more often than not overflowing. They've definitely updated it since I started coming back in 2002 to play flag football. I've come to do Total fitness boot camp which was great. It's a nice park, but people do speed through here and come in and out without parking, seemingly to scope the scene to do illegal activity. Too many hiding spots and areas not too well lit which I feel attract mischief. Come during the day and you'll be fine.

As some other reviewers mention, there does seem to be a "nice" side and a slightly more sketchy side. But honestly, the "sketchy" side just had a few people milling about that looked as if they may be unhoused. If you've ever been to Portland, you would not think this looked horrible at all. Overall, it was nice to walk through and sit for a bit.

If you're looking for multiple paved trails, tennis courts, a pond or even a restroom, this isn't the place. So why four stars? I love it because, as a Riverside resident, it gives me easy access to an incredible place to take my dog. I don't have to worry about cars on the highway or cyclists on the Silver Comet Trail. I keep her on leash but can allow her to wander and explore the woods. If you don't live in the neighborhood and want to check it out, I'd recommend parking at the end of Spink Street and then walking along the closed portion to access the park from the back. Spink is really wide where it dead-ends, and there are no houses there to worry about parking in some resident's way. I was surprised to find a place still so wooded and essentially untouched inside Atlanta's city limits. I may end up reading here on weekends when I want some solitude.

It's a simple and…read moresecluded state park with a kids playground, some benches and picnic table, and many different walking trails. There's also a mile loop with stationary exercise machines. There are no bathroom, dog poop bags, or shelters, so potty before you visit and bring your own dog bags. On both of our visits, we met maybe a handful or less people. The park is at the end of a dead end of a small neighborhood street. The houses are quite nice and make the park seem like a special place where neighbors meet. We've taken our hound dog with us both times. We start out with having him on leash, but once we're further away from civilation in the woods, we've been able to let him off leash without worrying about him disturbing anyone. There are woods and boy scout ruins to explore. Creeks, ferns, and tons of English ivy (which is unfortunately killing many of the trees). There's also a couple large bushes of rosemary by the playground, in case you need any for dinner. (Don't worry, it grows like crazy.) As of March 2016, I think the folks who manage the park are trying to make the entrance a little nicer. There's been a pile of wood chips covering half of the entry path for the last two weeks at least. Besides that (which is very permissible), this is a very nice and fairly quite park. Lovely place for a walk or a more adventerous off-path hike.

I wanna say this is one of the best running trails around Decatur from all the parks I've been to. Although you have to run past a gate that ultimately leads to two other parks, I feel safe because of the other runners and dog owners that come by here. I ran late so I wasn't in there for long maybe 45 minutes, but I'll come here again and try to get on the other trails. From what I saw a rock path across a stream, trails, and board walk make this a multifarious path. Bottom line: I recommend you come here whether your running, walking your dog or going out hiking casually.

This loop does connect to the Peachtree trail if you cross the creek between the stairs at the farthest end of the loop from the beginning and those trails can take you many places.
