The others the swings are so hot you would burn your bum! Im not sure what geniuses are building playgrounds these days but atleast have some areas shaded! This is not the closest park to the familys house but its worth us going to. The smaller park is good for small children. The larger park has higher play equipment, climbing walls, slides, big kid swings, etc along with things for small children. There are more kids at this part of the park so we do walk over for a few minutes to people watch but since I dont have a walker we really dont spend much time here yet.

Approaching the bridge that crosses the marsh grasses seem nice and then a long 3/4 mile hike along a singular path with no roundabout back to the point of origin. When we reached the view of the river (stream) it built up nticipationnfor what we saw towards the end of the trail a nice Mecca of cascading waterfalls. Nothing big but it was cool and pleasant to sit in. To top it off the end revealed a nice wooden covered bridge.

We have lived in the area for 5+ years and we are 5 minutes from this gem and didn't even know it! There is a stroller friendly trail nestled in between trees, and a wetlands area with elevated boardwalk. The trail parallels the Nickajack Creek which flows into the Chattahoochee River, so it is a fast flowing creek. We walked for an hour or so on this scenic path and sat under the gazebo for a moment after our little hike. It's so nice to discover something new and nearby.

Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

Morning walks are definitely the best as it super quiet and I'm able to really just take in all the peace and quiet that being on the trail brings. Of course it get busier during the weekends but because the trail extends such a long distance, I've never felt that it was overcrowded and there are plenty of places where you can park and hop on the trail. It was just as nice as I remembered, maybe even a little nostalgic for me. The trail was calm and not too busy, but there were still enough people around to feel comfortable/safe without feeling crowded. It's perfect for families out for a stroll or a casual bike ride, and also great for runners and more experienced cyclists. Fall seems like one of the best times to visit. The tall trees lining the trail were beautiful, creating a really serene atmosphere. I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some quiet time outdoors. Being outside and taking in the beauty of it all was motivation enough to keep walking, and we ended up walking for a little over 4 miles. A great alternative for a trail in the metro area if you don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the beltline. Can't wait to go back!
