People get it confused with Powder Springs Linear Park but they are a few miles apart but both dope parks with good amenities

Always a great diverse group of people riding bikes, playing with the kids, and across the parking lot two covered basketball courts are always happening. There's enough open field for a good game of dodge ball and parking is plentiful. I have never seen the concessions open or visited the restrooms but the shaded tables next to both are a good resting spot.

The silver comet trail is connected to the park so feel free to bring your bikes or just go for a stroll. There's even a bike rack to keep the bikes once you're done riding. There's bathrooms, water fountains and even a concession stand serving cold drinks, ice cream and snacks although it wasn't open when I was there and the hours weren't listed. Today's hike at Sweetwater exceeded my expectations in every way! The weather was giving spring…read morevibes and the people were out for it ! Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

You can usually watch a few soccer games here if that is what you like. If you want the park more to yourself I would say get there early before all of the games start. I have been there early on Saturdays and seen a few people flying kites and remote controlled airplanes. Plenty of room for whatever you need to do.

It is also not shaded so make sure you bring sunblock in the summertime! Overall, a nice place to bring your kids if you're near downtown Douglasville!

There are a number (four, I think) of lighted tennis courts that stay busy during the spring and summer. A lot of people come out to walk the path around the park and others simply come out to enjoy the green space with their kids and/or pets. There are two covered areas for cook-outs and the bathrooms are regularly cleaned. Nice park.
