The playground area also includes picnic pavilions and rest room facilities. Best part about it is the Four baseball fields that are handicap accessible. If you are in the area and want to take a break near the beautiful flower garden (Small area near the entrance) or if you need to take a peaceful walk then stop by this park for a tranquil moment. Of course, it's not so quiet once the kids come out to play ball. I always feel safe here. Dusk to Dawn. Douglas County does a great job driving by frequently to make sure that we are safe. Always a great diverse group of people riding bikes, playing with the kids, and across the parking lot two covered basketball courts are always happening. The silver comet trail is connected to the park so feel free to bring your bikes or just go for a stroll. There's even a bike rack to keep the bikes once you're done riding. There's bathrooms, water fountains and even a concession stand serving cold drinks, ice cream and snacks although it wasn't open when I was there and the hours weren't listed. Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

The equipment all appears to have been recently updated (and it seems that part of that update included removing swings). There is also a basketball court with three hoops, at least three picnic tables, two benches, and a few trash cans. The one down side is that there isn't a clear path from the parking lot to the playground so it is not accessible to those with disabilities. It is also not shaded so make sure you bring sunblock in the summertime! Overall, a nice place to bring your kids if you're near downtown Douglasville!

It is very big and flat and although it has no trees it does have a few shade structures. There are multiple poop bag dispensers all around although it appears nobody actually uses them, but they do look very professional. Very large double-gated entry area for both dog parks that is concrete as well as a faucet for water. But other than that there is nothing but open room to run and a little bit of mud.
