A group of 5 us headed out into the woods of West Palisades. Trail markers at all the junctions. We did about 8 miles wondering around all the trails. Some trails are by the river, but when you turn inland it is hilly. This area also connects to paved trail along Rottenwood Creek, but the wooded trails are more interesting. Everyone enjoyed our time. Bathrooms are available here near the parking lot. Well worth a stop. Enjoy the outdoors!

The others the swings are so hot you would burn your bum! Im not sure what geniuses are building playgrounds these days but atleast have some areas shaded! This is not the closest park to the familys house but its worth us going to. The smaller park is good for small children. The larger park has higher play equipment, climbing walls, slides, big kid swings, etc along with things for small children. There are more kids at this part of the park so we do walk over for a few minutes to people watch but since I dont have a walker we really dont spend much time here yet.

I love visiting it with my husband just before sunset. We saw so many kids playing in the spider web climbing thing and the play area. There was a birthday party going on and the park was filled with folks of all ages. Trails: A little walk on the left leads you to the dam(falls) and it's a very quiet and serene path to walk or jog. There are 2-3 trails around the park but a bit rugged, so I recommend going when there's plenty of daylight. Parking spots are plenty and the park is pet-friendly. There are also kayak rentals on the river bank below. When we came we hiked the 3/4 mile looped trail behind the playground accessible from the parking lot. There was a bald eagle flying above his beat. Kayakers down below had beached themselves on a sandbar in the middle of the river. A guitarist was jamming and kids were playing in the Sun. Just a picture perfect place to relax and take in the sites.

There is a deck that you can pay to park in at the Emory Clifton campus - that is the closest parking I believe.

Some sections s are very easy and some have so elevation gains and are more challenging. Today's hike at Sweetwater exceeded my expectations in every way! The weather was giving spring…read morevibes and the people were out for it ! Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

I made the suggestion to walk the trail instead of just walking around the neighborhood. Best decision ever! We started the trail at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area at Paces Mills. The trail length is 3.8 miles and offers a great work out. The terrain varies from flat to slightly inclined. In addition to getting that heart rate up you get to experience what feels like the perfect place to unwind and unplug. It's the sounds and sights for me! The waves created in the Chattahoochee river, the sounds of birds chirping, the sight of plush tees, and bridges. It truly is a natural escape from a busy suburban lifestyle. A few things to note: 1. You can access this trail from two different parking areas. The lot on Interstate North Parkway is free of charge. However, it is a small lot. The larger Lot at Paces Mill is $5.00 per day. You can make the payment via an app. 2. this is a multi- use trail. As such, you can find people doing a leisure walk, jogging, biking, skating etc. motorized items are not permitted on the trail. 3. if you don't own a bike, there are rentals available. The company that is located at this trail is called Movatics. You can find them in your App Store to get started with your rental. The advertisement notes that it is free for your first hour and $3.00 per hour after that. 4. The park is open from dusk to dawn just like most trails and parks. I highly recommend stopping by this trail, it will not disappoint!

The trailhead is located on Hwy 41 just north of the river. Parking appears plentiful, but I don't…read moreknow if it completely fills up on the weekend (as we visited on a Friday late-morning). You can access the lot from either direction on Hwy 41. You first need to pay the $5 parking fee to recreation.gov. The instructions are fairly easy to follow; the whole transaction is done via smartphone. It probably took 5 minutes or less. The paved trail heads east along the river and crosses under I-75 before turning north. The trail is well shaded for much of the way, though it gets sunny as it ascends a significant hill just before the 1-mile mark. That was about as far as we went on our initial visit, though the trail kept going for, I think, at least another mile. There are nice views of the creek as well as (early) of the river. When we went, there were a fair number of others walking or running, so it never seemed too isolated.

The parking area is large enough for the park (it's not a giant park) and everything was very clean, lots of garbage bins sprinkled around. The playground had ample space and play options (playset, swings, etc.) and I even saw doggie doo stands with bags and garbage bins for your pets on the paved walkway. They had a small restroom building with sides for men and women. They were alright for park bathrooms, but there was no mirror in the womens room which seemed a little important?? Overall this was a nice park. Probably not one I would go out of my way to visit but if you're in the area and would like a small picnic or a place to take the kiddos, this would be a good option!
