I came here on Wednesday as a party of 4. Although it was a weekday, it was already packed with a line! Fortunately, we had a reservation and were seated quickly. We ordered the EMPANADA DE AJIACO, SWEET PLANTAIN 'GNOCCHI', AREPA DE LAS MONAS, CHICHARRÓN CRISPETAS, and the ALTIPLANO BIRD. The empanadas were delicious - crispy crust, juicy chicken, and tangy salsa. The "gnocchi" was interesting as I was skeptical of the vegan sausage. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how "realistic" it was. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicharrons because it had a semi-strong taste that wasn't my preference. I was a fan of the arepa de las monas! We all shared the altiplano bird which I thought was good. It was roasted well with maintaining juiciness and flavor. However, I'm not sure if it was worth nearly $40. Overall, this was an interesting dining experience as I've never had Colombian food before and would go occasionally with costs in mind.

Came here for date night last night and it did NOT disappoint. We started with the rock cod ceviche, which came with plantain chips. I really liked this dish and would order again, my boyfriend liked it, but said he'd skip it to try something else next time. We also got the patacones and added the beef- this was amazing and we will 100% be ordering this again when we go back!! Next up we had the arepa. The first bite was VERY GOOD. However it's a LOT of cheese and my boyfriend liked the mushroom (whipped?) cream/foam, I personally did not. Will prob skip this and try a different menu item. And the star of our dinner (pictured) is the whole branzino. This was the BEST branzino I've ever had in my life. I will (and have already) recommended this dish to anyone and everyone who goes to Parche. Will be back for this dish and to try others as well!

Vibrant flavors, high price tag. Parche is a beautiul space in downtown Oakland serving family-style share plates of contemporary Colombia dishes. My group of four shared a variety of plates but we all felt were small for the price. We started with two cold plates, the Santa Marta Ceviche and the Salmón Salpicón. I couldn't decide which of the two were ma favorite and I definitely think both were my favorites of the whole meal. Following up with two small share plates, the Arepa de Las Monas and the Empanada de Ajiaco. Finished with the Mojarra Frita, fried whole branzino, which was perfectly fried and not oily at all. The cocktail menu had lots of creative options, but I opted for the Ojos Asi, which I would recommend only if you like bitter cocktails, that said I very much enjoyed it!

Parche is a gorgeous Colombian restaurant in downtown Oakland. I've been twice and have ordered the same thing both times: Tumaco ceviche, and the Mojarra Frita (fried branzino). The branzino is the star of the show and I will continue to order it again and again! Great flavor and always fried to perfection. I also recommend trying it for Oakland restaurant week as they do a great lunch time deal.

Got a chance to check out Parche while visiting Oakland with some friends and it did not disappoint. The space is beautiful and lively and the food was great for sharing. Everything was delicious especially the branzino and the drinks were tasty and strong. Definitely a must go to spot when you're Oakland. Check it out!

Tumaco Ceviche

Had a great dinner at Parche! The Tumaco Ceviche was fresh, with a nice touch of sweet drop peppers. Our favorite was the Empanada de Ajiaco--filling, perfectly crusted, and served with delicious jalapeño cilantro aioli. The Patacones were good, though the beef, onion marmalade, and tropical salsa were a bit sweet for my taste. The Cacao Nariño dessert was amazing, especially with our Carajillos and Espresso Martinis. Friendly service, quick food, and a fun meal overall!

Arepa with beef on the side

Went for lunch so this is an updated review. The ceviche is good and we asked for another spoon to maximize the delicious sauce with the arepa with cheese and beef we ordered. Having the beef on the side was great because we could eat it separately. Very savory and soft. The plantain chips that come with the ceviche go well with the beef. Nice spot for lunch or dinner. Service was good and they keep the interior clean. I love the pink chairs.

Parche in Oakland is such a great place to enjoy an amazing lunch with good company! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. The crispy pork belly was and definitely a must try! And OMG, the dessert was incredible. I honestly want to go back just for that! The restaurant is spacious and has such a great atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. We had such a wonderful time and can't wait to come back again!

Great date night or girls dinner spot! When the food, decor, and vibes all match each other... it's just sooo *chef's kiss* for me. I'll always come back to places like this. Services was notable great as well! We went ahead and ordered everything our server recommended and the spread did not disappoint: Tumaco ceviche w/plantain chips- delicious cod ceviche in coconut milk, tasty and refreshing Arepa de las Monas- a very elevated cheese & mushroom arepa, super creamy and savory! Empanada de ajiaco- chicken empanada with a jalapeño-cilantro aioli, I don't know how something so simple could be so delicious and packed with flavor (my husband loved this one) Corte Andino- ribeye steak with mashed potatoe/plantains and a salad, perfect large plate to share We also ordered two drinks and I forgot the name but mine had two white gummy bears in it and it was bomb. I can't wait to come to try the Santa Maria ceviche, tostones, and branzino!

Parche has a lively, fun atmosphere, with great drinks and cocktails. Fabulous tumaco ceviche (the sweet drop peppers added that extra pop) that you can scoop up with their plantain chips. We also enjoyed their crispy brussels and chicken empanadas. We always get so full on their not-so-small shared plates that we don't have room for their larger shared plates.

New favorite Colombian brunch and dinner spot in Oakland. Cerviche with black cod, pulled beef and egg arepas and empanadas did not disappoint. Enjoyed the presentation and elevation of the simplest ingredients on each plate. Love the friendly and vibrant ambience, art and attention to detail with service. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Plantain Gnnochi w vegan sausage

This spot has been recommended by so many people, we finally got to have dinner here. It is a very lively restaurant. The waiter recommended some great dishes for us to have. I ended up getting the plantain gnocchi w vegan sausage. To my surprise I really enjoyed the vegan sausage I liked it better than the gnocchi itself. We also ended up getting some empanadas, it was great with the sauce. Overall we had great service at Parche.

The food was incredibly flavorful and beautifully plated. I couldn't get enough!! The drinks are an absolute must!!! Service was quick to deliver food and respond to questions. Ambiance was dim and dark, just how I like it!

I wanted something hearty but not heavy, so I pull of the Door Dash app. My friends wife is Colombian and I'd seen one of my influencers I follow do a piece on an Arepa place in SF. So I find this one. I didn't look carefully that it was kind of far from my work, but I digress. They had a breakfast arepa and a cheese bread, similar to Brazilian cheese bread so I ordered that. So what's an Arepa? I like it to a Salvadoran pupusa/Pita style item, but made with corn instead of flour. They cut it open and stuff with different items. Mine came with scrambled eggs, bell peppers and green onion. and the Bunelos was one giant ball and made with cassava flour and tapicoa flour (good for gluten free folks) and finely shredded cheese. The food arrived still warm and was really good. the breakfast Arepa could maybe have had some cheese added, but there wasn't an option to add and I was expecting maybe and order of small size bunelos, like three, but the giant one was fine and fried to perfection. I will try to actually visit the restaurant for futher items. They have an arepa for vegetarians as well as empanadas.

On the level, the food warrants 4 stars, but this restaurant is uniquely child-friendly and worth spotlighting for that reason. The 3+ hour tasting menu is an experience to behold. We saw that there is a children's price online, so we included our almost-ten year old in the reservation. Everyone -- the adults in our party as well as the servers -- felt a bit of trepidation when we sat down, but all turned out well. He read a book between courses and watched the food being cooked in the open kitchen. Our party had a lively conversation throughout and the servers -- who were very friendly -- jumped in and out. At one point, we turned around to find a low shelf with Dr. Seuss books, which we learned belonged to the chef when his kids were younger. It felt symbolic of the whole attitude of the place. Regarding the menu, I will briefly say that it was excellent. All dishes were superbly executed, though a couple perhaps needed a bit more imagination. For example, the black garlic and harissa that garnished the lamb felt very "on-trend," rather than something unique to this restaurant. That said, it was delicious and the flavors were well-paired. The children's menu turned out to be identical to the adults' in terms of dishes and proportions. Not everything appealed to our plucky nine year old's palate but he did indeed eat most of what was put in front of him. Mägo makes a welcoming entrée to fine dining for young eaters. I love forward to returning with my family on the future.

I really liked the first several courses as they were really fun, creative and beautifully presented. When we got to the proteins, it was honestly quite underwhelming for me. It was almost disappointing. The first protein was a local seabass with a cashew (or walnut?) sauce but the sauce was so incredibly salty that it had a bit of a bite to it so needless to say, got rid of the sauce to eat the fish. Fish was also a bit dry. The next was lamb 2 ways. It was fine but also just a piece of grilled steak on the plate and a merguez sausage stuffed pepper. The stuffed pepper was fun but neither of the these 2 things were mind blowingly good or creative. The lamb plate looked so boring that any home cook can do it. Overall, proteins were a miss for me. My friend got the cheese plate, it was fine but I don't think it's worth the extra add on. It wasn't anything super special. Then the dessert which is usually my favorite part of the meal. First was a roasted strawberry and a milk ice cream dish that was delightful and beautifully presented. The second was a small bite with compressed melon and a financier. The financier was even saltier than that fish. Definitely used salt instead of sugar. Not sure how that was missed but it was probably the most disgusting "dessert" I've eaten at a restaurant. Thus, the 3 stars because it was truly disappointing that the meal ended on a salty note...literally. Service was fine. Wasn't the most outstanding, it feels like some of the staff members didn't know the menu super well and certainly didn't seem confident in telling us what we were eating and drinking. The drinks were really tasty though, got to try a large variety of things I probably wouldn't try on my own. Really wanted to love this place as the dinner started off strong but didn't end well. With the drink pairing on a weekend night, absolutely NOT worth your money.

If it wasn't for the amazing food and the integrity I've known the owner to have, that would have completely ruined my experience. - I don't know what it is, but sometimes it takes a little longer to get my order, so I wouldn't come here if you're absolutely starving. - Lastly, I wish I could place an order on the phone. Luckily for us, while most of the stalls at the Public Market weren't even open yet, Paradita was ready to save the day! We ordered the grilled pork belly on salad, the mushroom empanadas, and a passion fruit drink to wash it all down. Side note: their cocktails sounded incredible, but at 10 AM, we figured it was a tad too early to start day-drinking, lol! The food was absolutely stellar: The Grilled Pork Belly: Incredible. Super tender, not overly fatty, and packed with flavor. It sits on a tasty vinaigrette salad, and the potatoes on the side were executed perfectly--nice and fluffy on the inside with a perfectly roasted skin. The Mushroom Empanadas: These were unique! Instead of the typical heavy, deep-fried style, they use a flaky puff pastry for the shell. The filling was savory and so delicious. Prices were reasonable, and the owner was helpful and friendly while we ordered. If you're at the Public Market, I highly recommend checking this spot out! They totally crushed it.

For some reason, I thought this was a regular restaurant with table service, and a much larger space, but it's a somewhat narrow space and you order at the counter. I decided to try their trio sampler plate so I could get an idea of how a few of their meats were prepared and they each were in their own mini-arepa, so I thought that would be a good introduction. Unfortunately, I didn't like the arepas as much as I thought I would. I found them to be a little dry and lacking that rich corn masa flavor I was expecting. I don't know if this has to do solely with Pica Pica or if it's simply how arepas are made in general, but I came away feeling like I preferred other foods with a corn base such as tamales and pupusas. Meat-wise I had the fried chicken, the shredded beef and the asado negro. The fried chicken, to me, was not very exciting. The shredded beef was good, tasty, but the asado negro was the absolute star of it all? As far as I'm concerned, it's a most delicious cut of brisket with a sweet tomato sauce. I wish I had ordered more. The platanos or fried plantains were not like maduros that are very sweet. They're a little dry and flavorless, and the side order that I got of them for $7.50, they sure don't give you all that many. so that was a bummer for me. I also tried two flavors of what essentially are aguas frescas, the passion fruit and the mango. The passion fruit was out of this world! The mango, don't bother. It tasted like water with a powdered mix. I will definitely be back -- unfortunately, not for the arepas, but for the asado negro, either as a plate with rice & beans or in a salad.

The combination of sweet corn and savory pork was incredible. It's a bit weird though there are was half an uncut avocado just sitting inside the sweet corn crepe. The salad that came was also fresh, and I enjoyed the all the sauces that came with it. The white arepa we had was dry and uninteresting.
