I'm going to strongly suggest that anyone considering this dealership to go elsewhere. My mom purchased a car here late July and was given a fantastic deal, however, 1 week ago she was contacted by the dealership saying they should not have given her that price and that interest rate. They said that the loan was not approved and she would have to come in an sign a new agreement with an increased interest rate. Now, I understand there are rare cases when the loan actually doesn't go through, but in that case they would've known about in after a couple days, not almost 4 weeks later. We called the finance company (Hyundai Finance) and confirmed with them that the loan was actually approved with the originally offered interest rate and that there is absolutely no problem with the loan. Hyundai Finance has also accepted my mom's first loan payment. My mom has received numerous calls and text messages telling her she must come in and sign a new agreement and has been threatened with repossession of the car. The loan is in good standing and Hyundai of Paramus has no right to repossess the car. They are just trying to scare an old lady with empty threats into signing a new contract. read more

For Service Appointment scheduling ONLY - leased my car in March (Great experience, great car). Got a call last week so schedule 3 month service appointment. Since I only have 800 miles we decided I didn't need an appointment. Got a text this morning confirming my appointment on Monday (again, didn't schedule one). I called the number in the text. TERRIBLE phone tree without the option to get to an operator yet no options fit my need. After 15 min on hold I finally got to someone in scheduling. She very clearly needs a lesson in speaking to customers. She was rude and harsh, interrupting me while I was explaining but not knowing what I needed. She finally took my phone number and said I didn't have an appointment on Monday. When I asked why I got the text she just repeated her words like I was too stupid to understand what she'd just said. Then I heard a click and the line got quiet. I said "Hello", "Hello" "did you hang up on me". No response. I then called her a name I regret because I was so frustrated after which she said, no I'm here. I was embarrased and apologized and started to say they need to figure out why I got a text confirming an appointment I didn't make when she really did hang up on me!!! I have no patience to call back and wait 15 min or more on hold for the same treatment. Get better phone SERVICE people or I'll look for someplace else to service and eventually replace my new lease car. read more

My wife purchased a 2017 Elantra, for cash no financing. She turned in a leased 2015 Elantra on a promo early termination. After the deal she wrote a chek for $23,700.00. Then she got a bill for $427.00 for early termination dispensation fee because she didn't re finance with Hyundai. We have purchase 7 vehicles with them and their sister Jeep dealer in the last 7 years., Worst deal eve, being punished for paying cash. The owner of the dealer found out aout it and refunded her. I wish i would have searched a little bit more before i decided to buy my Elantra GT there. At first everyone gave me all the attention that i deserve, since i was a potential costumer. Everything was going fine until i sign all the papers. Good thing is that since i bought a car that was already in their lot i was able to take it home same night. The salesperson Brian was very nice and even until now still trying to help me, but their "financial manager" Steve Amato make me a lot of promises that im still trying to fix. after the conversation that i have with Steve Amato at the moment that i bought the car, i was informed by this gentleman that i would not have to spend a penny because i bought their maintenance program. Recently when i went for my second scheduled maintenance (7500 miles) i was surprised that my total was $140 dollars (+-) for an oil change ,tire rotation, topping fluids, etc. All that was included in my "free" maintenance was the oil change, to keep up with their warranty. While my car was being served i went upstairs to speak with Steve Amato. He then "explained" me that Hyundai does not offer an scheduled maintenance program. I then asked him what was that he said when i bought the car and his answer was that i paid that amount of money for oil changes. He then offer me a refund of my bill, i should just bring him a copy of the repair order and wait a few days until the refund would hit my bank account. Until here not a big deal, would get my money back and i wasnt that mad that i paid only for oil changes, since that would keep the warranty. Im still waiting until today for that money. I called the dealership and all the times i was informed that he was there but as i was transferred i always hit the voicemail. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. I even show up at the dealer but surprisingly Mr. Steve Amato disappeared like magic, even when i call them from the parking lot and i was told that he was at the dealer. Recently i called this dealership to find out that Steve Amato does not work there anymore and i was then transferred to another financial manager which went straight to her voicemail. I learned my lesson, i really gave up already on my refund, but i swear that even if that mean that i have to take my Elantra to a dealer 30 miles away from my house for an oil change, i will never put my feet in that dealership again. If you are reading this and still thinking about buy a car there, go ahead, read all this stories here in this website and make your mind. Ive never in my life felt so humiliated by someone in front of other people! Ok for starters I went to see if it was a possibility to trade in my car a bit early. I was immediately greeted by Stephen who was a pleasure to work with he showed me a vehicle I like it and all ok ready to negotiate. After going back and fourth the manager came over (sorry didn't catch his name) he basically said there was nothing he could do further so I said ok no worries ill just wait and leave it at that. As I was leaving I was approached by Stephen again and he said he had one more thought in mind ok so I heard him out agreed and when he went to go over it with his manager that's when things went sour. The manager said in front on me and others no absolutely not he wont do it and that's why he's letting me walk out the door that I'm basically not good enough to trade in or get the car I would have liked. I was trading a mint 2016 infinity with 9035 miles on it! I'm in shock also because theirs no way the manager would come down $20 on the lease amount to have a new established customer?! the only reason Hyundai was my first choice is because my mother in law has leased 4 cars from this dealer and it was always a breeze! what a joke I nor my mother in law will be returning anytime soon! not after I was pretty much told I wasn't good enough and that nasty manager of theirs can take it elsewhere! unbelievably unprofessional! The headline here is - we would NEVER recommend this dealership to anyone due to a lack of integrity and horrible customer service post-purchase. The summary of our story is as follows - we bought a used Hyundai Santa Fe from this dealership in late January - it's now about to turn April and we still don't have the license plate from the dealer, despite numerous promises and multiple calls/emails, so our car is effectively not usable. The thing that's most outrageous about this dealership is that they have literally lied to us on multiple occasions and made promises that they clearly have no intention of keeping (e.g., they promised to send us in an email stating that they would cover any tickets we received due to having an expired temporary plate - 2 weeks later and despite our calls back, no email has arrived). What makes this whole situation even more absurd is that the dealer A) Promised to take care of registering the car and sending us the plates. Only problem is B) They didn't have the required paperwork necessary to complete that registration, and C) Never bothered to tell us despite multiple calls on our part after our temporary plate expired and no permanent plates arrived. We weren't even aware that there was an issue until my wife literally had to threaten them with a letter from our lawyer if they didn't put a manager on the phone - at which point it was "discovered" 6 weeks after we bought the car, that they had never submitted the paperwork because they didn't have it. This led to a series of promises ("we will Fedex you the plates in 2 days"..."we will send you an email promising to pay for any tickets you receive"...etc)...all of which have been LIES. We remain without our plates, as this saga goes into month 3 and this dealer continues to do nothing. It seems apparent that the only thing they respond to is the threat of legal action, which it looks like is where this is headed in order for us to have a car we can legally drive. I'd like to write more about the quality of the car, but frankly, I don't know because we can't drive the thing. Long story short - avoid this dealership at all cost, because if anything goes wrong, you will be left high and dry. read more

I bought my car here back in May '13, did my 6 month service, and just did my 1-year service here. While the guys doing the check ups are fine, the guys doing the service billing are scamming you. At my 6-month service, they did not honor a coupon they sent in the mail. I presented it when paying and they gave me all kinds of trouble about it, asking why I was presenting it now. Well where else would you present a coupon except the checkout area? In the end the guy said let's compromise at some arbitrary value in between. Shady shady shady. At my 1-year service, when I tried to give them my rewards card, they said they had cancelled the program (without notifying anyone by mail or phone!). They then said that they would honor the card, but after "checking the balance", they said I had nothing on it. A statement of complete lies considering that I had a receipt from the 6-month service showing my rewards balance, and I had not gone back since then. Again, they tried to "compromise" by giving me 3% off on the total bill. However, this happened after they ran my credit card through, so they were giving me all kinds of guilt saying how they would have to void it and that it would only be $5. In the end I decided that it wasn't worth the trouble. tl;dr - don't come here for service. read more

This was the worst dealership experience of my lifetime. I have an entirely ELECTRIC vehicle and I made an appointment for a recall service a week prior. The recall is serious enough that Hyundai called and left a message on my home phone. This dealer tried to sell me fuel injector cleaning and throttle body servicing. IT IS AN ELECTRIC CAR!!!! When I showed them Hyundai's own service schedule for the car, they told me that wasn't correct (so the manual and Hyundai's website are both incorrect?). I then asked them to please show me documentation that my ELECTRIC car needed throttle body servicing at 11,000+ miles, but they would not produce any documentation. Then after waiting for two hours, they told me they didn't have the software to fix the recall. The entire experience was attempted FRAUD. I immediately called Hyundai customer service when I got home and reported their behavior. I feel sorry for those that were ripped off without knowing it. read more

Told to meet with John Sweeney- he was arrogant and rude as they come- as if i was doing him a favor by coming in. shocking considering i was going to spend over $40k for a car. Wanted thousands over MSRP for a Palisade. This dealership is supposed to participate in the Hyundai shopper assurance program- listing the price up front to be "transparent." Well the website lists the MSRP (the average person would assume that is the asking price) and would not give me a price quote via email- only to show up and be told the price was thousands over MSRP- this despite the emails purporting to have "lowest price guarantee" and to "honor any legitimate quote from another dealer." This place should loose their franchise agreement with Hyundai. the only "shopper assurance" is that John Sweeney will be a pompous ass and waste your time- I feel bad for the idiots who pay over MSRP for a palisade from a dealer like this- read more

The service center here is awful. The wait times are long. They are SUPER overpriced. Got a second opinion on a repair and the guy charged me half the price that Hyundai was going to charge me. On a separate issue I Took my car in twice for the same problem. When the problem happened a third time ( two days after I left the repair shop for the second time) And I called them, they had an attitude. So I went to another mechanic and got it fixed. And haven't had an issue since. I will no longer take my car their and I will return my lease and not get another Hyundai. However, if you can, get your repairs done in the Freehold Hyundai. What a horribly disappointing experience I had with this dealership. I spent 3 hours with Joey and then Phil after my test drive of a Sonata on Tuesday. We initially could not come to terms. Several hours later I got a call from Joey to say they would meet my offer. I could not get back to the dealership until Thursday to close and I told them that. Joey called me four or five more times and I told him it was likely I would take the deal. Joey called me again on Thursday to confirm my arrival time. Ten minutes later he called me back to say the car we wanted was sold! Then he tried to offer me a similar car in the most awful color that I previously declined. This is how they do business. THIS PLACE TAKES ADVANTAGE OF HARD-WORKING PEOPLE BY LIES OF OMISSION! I brought my 2013 Hyundai Veloster in for service recently. My air conditioning was blowing, but not cooling. I had purchased a platinum warranty when I bought the car in 2016 which was supposed to cover climate control. They conducted a 60,000 mile service check, as I was at 59,000 miles - costing $843. They then told me that I needed a new air compressor and belt ($860 for the air compressor alone, and about $600 in labor). They asked if they should get the compressor from their warehouse to speed up service. I said that would be fine. The next day, when I called to ask if I could take my car to some other places to compare prices, they said that I owed them the $860 for the air compressor - that it could not be returned to the warehouse and that they would KEEP MY CAR until I paid it! Mind you, they never told me that once ordered, the part could not be returned because "the part has been assigned to your vin number". As I write this, the part isn't even in Paramus yet. I also got the advisor to admit that they could have offered me a cheaper, pre-owned air compressor, but because I hadn't directly asked for it, it wasn't offered. The advisor claimed the same about returning the part - she said because I hadn't ASKED about returns, she didn't tell me that it couldn't be returned. They also failed to acknowledge my platinum warranty - I had to call Fidelity to confirm it! The Hyundai advisor STILL hasn't called me back to confirm the A/C is covered. read more

We went to Hyundai of Paramus in August (2015) looking for a Sonata after doing research on True Car and also knowing that the Manufacturer was offering incentives on the Sonata Sport. We had to educate the sales representative on the Summer Sales cash and Retail Bonus Cash offers. The representative said that he does not have to tell the customer about any of the incentives and if he could sell it for the MSRP- he would do it. He was completely unwilling to work with us and told us that maybe the Sonata was not the product for us. We ended up leaving the Paramus dealership and later that week, I bought a Hyundai Sonata sport for a VERY FAIR price at Lynnes Hyundai in Bloomfield, NJ. Knew very well which car it was, even confirmed my appointment and said the car was ready to be seen and test driven that day. I was greeted by another sales Associate who sat us down at his desk (not James). We waited a bit for James who came, introduced himself and passed us off to this other sales Assoc. After waiting for 15 minutes they had the audacity to tell me the car I had arranged to see was sold. I find it highly unprofessional and in such poor taste that James V. Passed us off to this other sales Associate, left us there and didn't even have the common courtesy to tell me himself he had sold the car. I drove from Queens to this location with my heart set on purchasing that vehicle. I had a price point in mind, I wanted specific features and was sent into the lot and shown cars way above my price range that didnt even have what I required. Such a complete waste of time. James V. Contacted them about a vehicle and provided my Email and phone number due to my genuine interest in purchasing the car from them. however, the calls and Emails did not stop coming in I must of blocked like 4 different numbers that called me in the morning at around 11am to the evenings at 4pm and the Emails oh god spare me apparently the GM is the one who Emails you WRONG!!!! It's one of the salesmen who replies if you try to contact the GM through his very own EMAIL. Even after the vehicle was sold i was being sent Emails and calls. overall the service was good however there are a few recommendations i would like to make for this dealership to really be first class and efficient: there should be a numbering system similar to a bakery or deli for customers on line to discuss service procedures with the customer service because currently there is no system and it can get disorganized and chaotic the waiting area is very small and cramped and seems inadequate for the amount of customers who are servicing their cars - this should be expanded so that customers can be comfortable while waiting there is no car wash at this dealership so after spending a lot of money on service procedures, your car is still dirty - they should at least vacuum the the inside of the car or provide a coupon for a nearby car wash read more

Today I had a wonderful representative who listened to what I wanted, made no attempts to talk me into anything else and took care of things in a timely manner.
