Aside from the long wait to get our food and drinks, everything was terrific. Shrimp tacos were delicious! Great flavor! My friend had a meatball pizza that looked really good. We went for dinner, a second visit for the family. Really wished it was better.....Great menu, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly service. Inconsistent food, unfortunately. The soft shells had a larger portion and were fried so much better last time. Roast chicken was very good, as was the tomato soup. Brussels sprouts were great last time, but overly salted and too much lemon last night. And the ambience during the weekend was simply bizarre , as the restaurant opens to the lobby and the hotel was full of families and active and noisy children. Sound level overall is also bad and the loud background music is just awful. This is a restaurant that is fresh,inventive ,with so much promise, and I would so much like to see them succeed. A real focus on and improvement with consistency and the customer experience is sorely needed. read more

Absolutely phenomenal! It's tucked away in a Marriott but that shouldn't deter. The food is exquisite - as good as a NYC brasserie. The bartenders - Keith in particular - know their stuff re wine, food, pairings, etc. I was traveling alone (as I often do) and a friendlier crowd and attentive staff I've yet to come across as good as this. Stopped in for a few days and found the hotel very inviting and busy. Middle of the week had a robust bar crowd and full hotel. The staff was attentive and food was very good for the price. I had the fish tacos and a salad. Very light and tasty, great tap selection. read more

Burger is out of this world with the spicy ketchup. We also had the clams BLT which were unbelievable with bacon and grilled romaine lettuce accompanied with the crusted baguettes. So my family just took me here for my birthday tonight and we have never been. I did meet the chef de cuisine at nycwff. Mohawk pink chef whites ( If that makes sense) and all. She served pumpkin tacos which could have been better. But back to the restaurant... Located at the Marriott, the restaurant blended with the bar and was a bit too loud. There was a great modern feel and trendy vibe. Didn't really scream farm to table by the ambiance. The menu however somewhat went with the theme. At least they didn't lie and pretend EVERYTHING was farm fresh like some impostors out there. Wings, not mind blowing but not disappointing, grilled cheese... Really good but the smoked onion could have been on the inside and more of it. Presentation was somewhat forced. But all in all a good version of grilled cheese. Salads were simple and good. My mothers was happy with her steak. i tried her chanterelles which were slightly chewy but that is a common problem with the stems. I have had far worse. My brother and dad loved the double burgers ( award winning btw) french fries and spicy ketchup was very good. Well seasoned hot and crisp. My chicken soup... Wow could not have been better. They should be the authority in serving chicken soup. A risky dish for a more refined menu but my god they did it so well. It was playful but elegant and the flavor second to none. I will never look at chicken soup the same. That dish was a 5 star! The waitstaff was very friendly and prompt along with professionally friendly. We have to go back to try the rest of the menu! Not bad prices either. Not your average hotel grub. Really wanted to give 4 stars but as you can tell I am a stickler. Refine my grilled cheese and crisp the wings a bit more and it would have been a solid 4. Please note this is one of the best 3 star spots you will EVER eat at. And probably 4 or 5 stars in most other people's book. read more

I highly recommend avoiding this place. I ordered wings that should take at the most ten minutes in a relatively empty restaurant and received them 25 minutes later with watered down soupy blue cheese. I had planned on ordering something else but would not chance it after this mini fiasco a beer and wings cost me 16.50 money better spent somewhere else. read more

Stayed at the hotel a few nights during a snow storm and decided to have some drinks and eat here. The beer selection was great with local craft brews featured and a palate for anyone. I ordered chicken wings and they were good. Not worth the price though. Ordered the burger which was apparently rated the best in ct. Well it was good. But not great. One thing that bothered me was the beer. They first brought me a 20oz glass of beer. After that was finished they brought me a 12 oz mug of beer. After having two of those and the 20 oz beer, I had enough. When I got my bill they charged me the same price for the 20 oz as the 12 oz. I brought this up to the server and he said that I was correct. They are both the same price. They would not alter the price. Oh well make sure you ask for the regular glass if you go. Overall. This place is good. A bit overpriced for the quality of food that you get. The next night I was there I found some area restaurants that were much better and reasonably priced. read more

Best scallops! Never had a disappointing meal here! Great customer service and I like the fresh menu that is seasonal and changes often.

The bartenders name was Peter. He started off great and then seem to levitate towards two women at the other end of the bar. I ordered a medium rare burger came out medium well I never got a chance to tell him as he never asked and as he walked by it seemed I was invisible because I was waving At him and I guess without standing up and screaming it didn't seem to do the trick. I was also trying to get a beer from either him or the other guy. I wonder how they deal with it when it's busy? read more

My wife and I came here for coffee and dessert after we went out to another local restaurant for dinner. She had heard through the Trumbull Mom's Club on-line that this was a good place to go for dessert, and that it was good for dinner too. There are no real coffee shops or great places for dessert and coffee in the area, other than a small Starbucks, so we were excited about it. When we told he receptionist/hostess that we just wanted coffee and dessert she said it may be a wait for a table, even though half of the tables in the place were empty...?? So we sat at the bar and the staff was great there. The chocolate and salted caramel panna cotta desert, which we split, was really outsanding. I thought we both may end up biting each others fingers angling for more than our 50%. A couple next to use had a sweet potato cheese cake which also looked awesome. The only complaint is that they do not offer decaf cappuccino or espresso (Bummer, as after dinner dessert places need to!......I need to sleep when I get home). I had to settle for black decaf coffee, which is OK, but not the same. The dinner menu looked really good too and they offer a great pre-fixe special. They actually had Redfish, which is hard to find in these parts! It had nice decor, a great vibe, and more than you would expect for being in a local hotel (Trumbull Marriott). We look forward to going back for dinner and hope they fare well. read more

One waiter who I think may have been the cook as well which would give a reason for the long wait time for food that was over priced and limited in favor. My wife, daughter and I had dinner at The Parallel Post this evening. We seem to go there for special meals. Tonight was for my birthday and as in the past and the food was excellent! with service to match. Dave, our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. I started with Clams BLT which doubled would make a meal. The combination of smoked bacon, tomato's, clams cooked right, broth, romaine lettuce is about perfect. Tacos, salty French fries done right...perfect appetizers. My wife's short Rib dinner, our daughter's Center Cut Chop, and my Red Fish with risotto and those root vegetables with the meals. We required hand trucks to take us to the car. Desserts such as Warmed Chocolate, or Salted Caramel rounded out a wonderful meal. Thanks for a perfect Birthday dinner. read more

Went there for Mother's Day and couldn't of been more disappointed. The 11:30 seating was in the lounge/bar area which is the dreaest location to celebrate a special occassion like Mother's Day. For some reason the main dining area was not set-up to accommodate the 11:30. They were holding that for the 12:30 seating?? And with a table facing the hallway - we had a good view of everyone checking out that day. A parade of luggage carrying hotel guests. The brunch itself was a major let down. The row of food from pre-cooked eggs to a collection of breakfast/lunch items, was very unappetizing (except for the bacon). And the craving station - turkey and beef, was just okay. A table of 5, with two who didn't eat because of the poor experience and the three who did - wow, $160.00! And that was with only one mimosa and no extras!! Christmas Dinner Nightmare The worst service I have ever had in any dining place in my entire life, We arrived at 5:05 pm with a confirmed reservation. We were shown to our table and waited for our server. At 5:40 I was up & looking for anyone to complain to. No one in sight. I went back to the table & someone showed up with tepid water that was poured into our glases. She said our server would be there to take our orders. At 5:50 she, the server, apperared all smiles & wearing a Santa hat. By this time no one cared and were just interested in getting dinner. My daughter had to leave to get to work by 7PM. she never got to eat and had everthing wrapped up for me to take home. The other person in my party does not eat meat. This was also discussed when I made the reservartion. Our first course arrived with meat on his plate. From that point on there is nothing else that could be done to save this awfull dinner experience. The night was ruined . But when the bill came I beacme so uppset . For this horriid night I was charged $197.00 for 3 dinners. If a place has chosen to be open on Christmas day I woulld expect them to have a staff that was attentive to the people eating there. Was excited to spend New Years Eve at the Trumbull Marriott and dine at one of my favorite restaurants, the Parallel Post. Because it is a bit pricey, my husband and I only go for special occasions. On our recommendation, we made our New Year's Eve plans with good friends. I don't know what happened but our meals were awful! The rustic chicken soup was a favorite of mine and we all ordered a bowl. They did not have any. We ordered clams and a couple of Caesar salads. The salads were loaded with croutons and the dressing was overpowering with anchovies. The clams did not taste right. The boys ordered the rib eye steaks. One asked for it to be charred on the outside and rare inside. It came out burnt on the outside and rare inside. The other ordered medium, and his came burnt on the outside and well done inside. The ladies ordered scallops and butternut squash risotto. The risotto was over cooked and the scallops had a funny taste. One was not eaten. I ate mine and paid the price all night. Something was obviously wrong with the scallops. We complained and the manager came out 10 or 15 minutes later. She offered us a round of drinks, which we declined. We ended up with dessert which we really didn't want. The Pana cotta was good. I will never go back!! The manager acted like we were bothering her! I am assuming this place is under new management. The kicker was the cost of our horrible meal. I have never written a bad review before, but this was probably the worst meal I have ever eaten! read more

Yesterday was my second trip to this restaurant within two weeks. Here's the deal: Inconsistent - clams appetizer was delicious last week, mediocre this week; Incredibly slow service - there were four of us - we got apps at 7:00, ordered dinner as soon as the apps arrived and didn't get entrees till 9:15!!! All the waiter could say in their defense is that they didn't want to rush us. Seriously?? Fried calamari was overcooked, burger was overcooked, flank steak was cooked properly but bland, oysters app was pretty tasty, but one of the oysters had only the bread crumbs in the shell and no oyster - where's the quality control here?Salads were pretty decent, drinks were ok - the cuke gin and tonic is great, but the ice cube is enormous, the glass is small, so you dont get much of the beverage unfortunately. The place itself can get incredibly noisy from about 7-10, which is not cool if you're trying to have a conversation over dinner. To boot, no apology was ever made about the extremely slow service - no comp. dessert, cup of coffee - nothing. All in all, I guess I had high hopes for this place based on the hype, but I will never return, nor will my 3 friends. read more
