Reviews were not so good, and we felt that we should, go elsewhere, out of the hood. But lazy got the best of us and we opted to eat where we stood; staying at the hotel made for an easy could. The service by Peter, the two nights we ate, could not have been better, make no mistake. Attentive and professional, in his neat and clean attire, would be anyone's claim to simply aspire. The food was delicious, and the drinks too! Margarita and Martini danced to the light of the moon until midday, and only because checkout is at noon. I would continue in my swoon but the seating was much to comfortable as we settled in relaxed and renewed.

Phenomenal service, food, ambiance. Very reliable!! They are opening back up full force for dinner and breakfast is very serviceable.

Not what you expect from a hotel restaurant but it was great! Normal hotel restaurant selections but they elevated it in small touches. The food was good, tasty and presentation was so pretty. The staff were pleasant, personable and helpful. Our staff person, Ally was so fun. Great smile and she teased our 9yo son about his "coffee" which was just white milk in a coffee mug. Thank you Ally.

I am not a big fan of this place. Parallel is located inside the Marriott. It has a nice interior and a pleasant atmosphere. However the place is impossible to find. Seriously. I got lost when attempting to find it even with my GPS. The turn into the hotel comes up really suddenly so be on the lookout for that. They, or the hotel in general, really need a better sign or something. When I did find my way inside, I then could not find the restaurant and some ladies pointed me toward it. Not a friendly vibe in the air. I wasn't feeling to hot and just had a grilled cheese sandwich. The menu was extremely limited anyway so I figured how can I go wrong with a grilled cheese. But I didn't care for it. The bread had sort of a bland taste. I do not think it was white bread. I did not finish it.The food also took a long time and the place itself didn't feel comfy or welcoming. There was this odd stiff quality to everything even the tables. And given how limited the menu was, I did not feel the urgent need to come back. As for the positive, it's pretty inside and seems clean. The staff themselves were quite pleasant. It ultimately was just an OK experience for me.

Very enjoyable lunch. The menu was short and sweet. I asked if I could just have a simple grill cheese sandwich on sourdough bread. The waiter said no problem. I decided to try the sea salt fries with it. My daughter chimed in that she would have them same thing. In no time our sandwiches were delivered exactly as we ordered. The fries were heavenly. The price was heavenly too. If I ever get back to this hotel I will be sure I go to the Parallel!

Overpriced. Breakfast. Buffet. WAY WAY overpriced. With few (if any) a la carte options - depending on the disposition of your server on that given day. Here was a conversation with my waitress last time I was there: Me: "I would like to order off the menu" Her: "We're only offering the buffet today: Me: "Does that mean that I can't have the egg white fritata?" Her: "Oh, ok. I'll put in your fritata." See the fritata is only a dollar or two less than the buffet. So there was no problem for the waitress. She wouldn't lose out on padding the check. Some of the other menu items are far less expensive. Bastards. Money grubbing bastards. Or maybe they just imagine everyone is on expense accounts and it's just easier for everyone to charge each person $14 for a breakfast buffet. Or maybe they are lazy. Regardless. It makes me want to stay elsewhere next time I am in the area. Or, at the very least come prepared with directions to the nearest alternative off-site breakfast destination. Peh.

Still the only local place to Trumbull that talks about organic and locally sourced foods though in the Marriott hotel Harold post doesn't disappoint with great flavors in a changing menu

The pretzel bites were also salty and bready nuggets of deliciousness. Service was great and friendly! It doesn't have a particularly great look outside or inside (mostly a bar with some tall tables and several large screen tvs) but they are consistently good with their flavorful offerings, which is what matters most.

The restaurant wasn't busy so we sat at the bar to watch football. We ordered wings and the special tacos of the day which were eye of the round tomatillo tacos with pico. We get the buffalo sauce and cajun dry rub on our wings which were 5 stars. The tacos not so much. For $15 the three tacos were tiny, 3 pieces of eye of the round on two tacos, 4 on third. The pico was tomatoes with a tiny piece of jalapeno and onion in water, weird. The tomatillo sauce was ok, but not the best. We LOVE this place but these tacos missed the mark. Service was good. At the end, Lauren took over. She was friendly and introduced herself to us and others at the bar. She mostly cashed us out, but we liked her friendliness. Go with confidence, it's a great local bar/restaurant with good, friendly service.

We found Benny Havens on Yelp and thought it looked worth a try. This place is what it is, a local institution that does what it does; if you want something else, go someplace else. It is of course unabashedly an Army bar. Sure it's a dive, but in the coziest, best sense of the word. The owner and staff were welcoming and the food was simple and honest. All they have is hamburgers/cheeseburgers and wings, and fries or onion rings! That's it! We had cheeseburgers and fries/onion rings and everything was fresh and tasty. The bar is a great big wooden thing and I bet it has stories to tell. The beer was cold and the whiskey tasty. It's cash only, so bring your greenbacks. I don't often have reason to stop at places like Benny Havens, but every time I do, I wonder why I don't visit more often.

We came for the burgers - and must admit was wary of going to a little pub for food- but they did not disappoint! The burgers were big and juicy and tasted like they had been grilled on a backyard bbq. (So good I forgot to snap a photo!) The fries were light and crispy (similar to McDonalds). We tried the chicken wings as well. They are fried and not as juicy as I typically like, but had a good flavor. It's a limited menu but there's a little something for everyone (chicken tenders, burgers, onion rings, mozzarella sticks). The waitress and bartender were both very kind and friendly to myself and my son, who were visiting West Point Academy for the weekend. We also met a couple of WP Alums who were meeting up and very nice and welcoming to us both. Def recommend if you're in town for a local experience - swing by for a burger and a beer!

While browsing online I saw a listing for a beachfront hotel in Connecticut that was known to our family before new owners took it over a few years ago. The Surfside Hotel took what had been Marnick's Motel and upgraded it in the past few years. Attached to the Surfside is The Little Pub. My hope was that the Pub might serve us well as we selected a venue for our gathering. I spent the night earlier this month at Surfside and had dinner at the Pub. Service was excellent, the bar was well-stocked, and the dining area had real charm - aided in part by a nice fire in the stone fireplace. Drinks were reasonably priced and promptly presented. I started with the New England clam chowder and found it piping hot and very tasty. I had the beef fajitas - more than I could finish but nicely seasoned and again, right-off-the-grill hot. My visit was a good one, and it seemed from the vibe the bar patrons love the Little Pub. I can understand their positive attitude. Things to keep in mind: brunch is served starting at 10 a.m. but only on Saturday and Sunday; otherwise, the pub opens at 11:30 a.m.; the bar may be open after 9 p.m. depending on the day.
