(with Helen, too) I find her to be an excellent, reliable resource for my inquiries. She is ready with information to fill the gaps in information to support both the homeowners association and me, as an owner. I live in a rather large property managed by Paragon and this is the absolute WORST company I've ever dealt with. They have rude representatives who apparently don't know what they are doing. We have been thru several managers in the last 3 years and instead of explaining why are managers are being changed, they say terrible things about the one they are getting rid of. There have even been times when Cheri (supposed Manager) told us personal business of a manager they are getting rid of. The accounting department makes NUMEROUS mistakes then when you call and speak with Kelly, she just laughs everything off as a joke. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I'm writing this in hope that someone else will be able to be even more persistent than I was. I went in wanting to apply for an apartment they had listen for rent. The beginning experience was great. While the first receptionist was great and informative the second one would just cut you off as you spoke to her to answer the phone. Not even a " hold on". Either way I went to view the apartment, fell in love. Went back and applied and went about my way. The receptionist said to be vigilant as they would call me within the next two to three days as the process was quick. ( I applied on a Tuesday)I paid the $30 for background check and everything. I went on my way. Within 20 minutes my credit was ran and then I didn't hear back from them at all for the next three days. Friday rolls around and I decided to call. They directed me to Janine (the manager) who I called a total of 4 times and was sent to message every time. I left voice mails each time. I sent emails to both receptionist and Janine to get any type of update. Dead silent. I let the weekend pass and I understand things may not "process" over the weekend. Monday comes around I call not stating my name and ask about the apartment I applied to, to see if it was still available. It was. So then I call again Tuesday (a whole week later) and I asked to speak to a different manager because I called Janine a number of times and heard nothing. Told me to wait and then Janine answered. She stated to me that she sent my application in and was waiting for the owner who is taking a long time to review the application. I told her the 1st of May was rolling around in two days and I need to be out my other apartment and need to know. She said she knows but it's up to the owner to call her. So I told her should I wait and she said yes. I told her I wanted to be contacted to matter what the decision was because I want to stay updated. Today we're a week into May and still haven't heard anything. Went into Zillow and the apartment is off market. It was rented. Not one phone call. Completely unprofessional, lack of communication across the board. Thankfully I found somewhere else to stay, because with that type of customer service, I wouldn't want them as my property management group. Really disappointed in the overall service. Only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the application process was easy , and viewing the apartment was just as easy. Many property management groups go through circles to just let you view them. Other than that, horrible communication. read more

I have lived in a property managed by Paragon for more than nine years. This management company horrible. They are not responsive to tenant needs, they make excuses and pass the buck. The thing that frustrates me most, the agents are extremely rude. If you are looking for inefficiency, this is the company. Customer service is deplorable. If there was a way to take away stars in a review, that would be the rating that I give this company. I have gone more than a week without hot water in my unit. The property agent argued with me because I called her to discuss it. Because I am a tenant in a condominium unit, she felt she did not owe me an explanation for the fact that more than a week after we reported a problem with the water temperature, they have not resolve the problem. I have not had hot water and Stephanie feels it's not her job to get it fixed (it isn't her property and the agent assigned to the property is out of the office). read more

These guys manage a condo HOA for us and all I can say is they are awful. Never send notification on building issues and when we have to call for something no one ever is available and rarely do they return calls. The other reviews pretty much sums it up. I don't know how this business is still open, they are literally the worst management company I've ever had to deal with. I'm a tenant at one of their properties and if anything ever goes wrong they make you feel guilty for asking for help! They've never once returned my phone calls, instead I just have to keep calling day after day until someone will actually take my call. Their customer service reps are rude and they've lied to multiple landlords who bought property saying their tenants could most likely rent a parking space in their garage... LOL, I feel like an idiot for believing that. They are the worst, do not live in a complex they manage, it's not worth it. This place really needs closing down as a business. This place really shouldn't be legal to run. The customer service is disgusting, their professional service is non existent, and they do not send out letters for important meetings that are to be held for homeowners. They lie, they give you incorrect information, and they don't actually do anything positive. I have had to ask them in the past, more than 4 times, that we have pest issues, that the pool filter is broken and the pool is dirty, that things are not kept up to a decent standard. Don't walk away......RUN away from Paragon Equities. If this company is serious about doing real business then we (owners and renters are in TROUBLE). Ok, where do I start. First let me say that I am NOT angry. I am an owner of several buildings and Paragon loosely manages one of my buildings. I have to basically do all the maintenance myself through handymen. It's RIDICULOUS when you try to call and get someone on the phone! ! Good luck on getting a call back. I also KNOW for certain that they are stealing money from HOA deposits. I have a clean paper trail on these idiots who have no idea that I have them "lined" up. You may have better luck with these thieves than we have. But I seriously doubt it. Do not do business with these folks. If you do, demand to see their monthly HOA deposits, monthly operating cost expenses, ect. They will tell you to basically piss off for fear of being exposed. I have read some of the reviews here, and I get it. I haven't always had the best experience with Paragon. That said, I can honestly 100% recommend Barby Young as a property manager. She took over our HOA's account shortly after I was voted onto the board. Let me tell you, we both inherited a complete mess. The previous board had passed a budget that didn't cover our expenses and no money was being deposited into our reserves. Barby spent a considerable amount of her own time on nights and weekends to completely revise our budget and formulate a plan to get us out of debt and back on track. She even went through our invoices and managed to renegotiate several contracts to get us a better price. Projects that had been on our 'to do' list for 3 whole years got taken care of almost immediately. Barby is as professional as it gets. She's straight to the point and always tells you like it is. The entire board literally would have resigned if it wasn't for Barby. As it is, things are running so smoothly now that we volunteered to serve another term. That's saying something. A++ read more

I have a rental unit in a condo building that is managed by Paragon Equities. Barby Young is the Paragon manager assigned to our HOA. Barby has been outstanding to work with. I recently needed to remove my tenant due to some issues that were affecting the whole condo community. It was a long and difficult process. Barby was there through the whole process and willing to help and give words of encouragement. She responded quickly to all my phone calls and emails. In her communications with me she was clear, concise, and knowledgeable. She is a true asset to our HOA. read more

We switched from Berro (bad, bad, bad!) to Paragon about 5 years ago and I'm so happy we did! I have to say any management company is only as good as your rep and we did try a few that didn't "fit" until Barby Young came into the picture. She has whipped our board into shape so we are compliant with current laws, she has saved us $$ with her knowledge and experience and she reacts quickly to issues and goes above and beyond to help us. I currently own a property that is managed by Paragon. I have had previous HOAs in the past since I own other properties. The service of this company is horrendous. First of all they do not even have any idea who manages which properties within their office. They only found out who was the correct property manager and whose account it was after I called several times. I had a recent problem regarding my neighbor's frequent loud noise and rather than being helpful Stephanie Aielo was very rude on the telephone. Mind you, this is after I have not heard from anyone in Paragon after several emails and voicemails. She basically said "if you have a fire in your house, you would not call me right?!! you would call the police". I explained that I wanted to inform the HOA first so I have a paper trail. This made her lose it and was yelling on the telephone. She basically said that if there are any problems with the neighbors that the only thing she can do is let the board of directors know and even that they will only "keep an eye on it" and not talk or send a letter to the neighbor to discuss the issue. She encouraged me to take a video of the situation and get a police report. She also said that the HOA that I pay for is not for her to fix issues regarding neighbors. I will never ever recommend this company to anyone. I cannot believe they are even in business with the type of customer support that they have. read more

It doesn't surprise me at all to see so many poor reviews for this company. Like another reviewer, we had at least three different property managers from Paragon over the seven years I have been living here. The last lady, the notorious "Barby", was the worst and during my time as Chairman of our HOA board of directors I found her attitude quite appalling. She was indeed a bully, threatening us with legal misdemeanours at every turn and being totally unhelpful. Happily this year the new HOA board have changed to a new property management company and we can all breath an enormous sigh of relief. However to top it all, it has taken three months for Paragon to finally own up to my wife and I having double paid for the month after the changeover and, at last, release our overpayment; in the words of someone involved in obtaining this refund it was only "after two lifetimes and a few roller coaster rides" that this was achieved! Yelp Removed my review...it has been many years, but I still feel the same way. Renting an apartment from Paragon was a nightmare! They were unprofessional. Meddled in neighbor disputes and let maintenance issues slide. They took their sweet time getting things fixed. Numerous calls and maintenance forms were needed before they did anything. Stole our patio furniture & firepit when a neighbor complained. Who does that!? Courtyard setting, furniture & firepits were allowed the first year we lived there. Paragon is horrible! absolutely awful experience..our association pays a monthly fee to have a full time HOA property manager..the current manager only works from 9 am to 1 pm..the alternate person never answers the phone..I am forced to leave a voice mail..(the call is not returned)..any afternoon emergencies or issues must be addressed the next day..the receptionist that answers the phone is rude and completely unprofessional..I tried to explain the entrance door must be repaired..it does not close properly..I was told she does not have to put up with my abuse ???..I asked to speak with owner Elaine Hutchinson..I left my home phone number and the call was never returned..I was hung up on 3 or 4 times..in the meantime the security to the property was breached until the next day..I lost count of how many HOA managers Paragon Equities has assigned to our property..I cannot recommend them.. read more

Paragon Equities gets a 1 star because it is the lowest rating possible; otherwise, I would have given them a zero. Please believe the other negative reviews posted. If you are thinking of using them, don't!!! The staff is rude, non-responsive, and ignorant!! The exception are the receptionists who are very nice and pleasant people. I could go on, but I think that this gives you the gist of what I have experienced. this management company s a joke. I have had a plumbing problem since Sept 16th and they have yet to fix it. In a matter of 4 weeks they have only sent a plumber out twice without success. got told today they they will have another company come out tomorrow to look at it again. they are too cheap to get things done right away and they dont allow you the information you need to make things happen. I gave them 1 star because i had too but they really get zero. Diane and Sherry are a joke to deal with and would rather have them tenants live with a toxic sewage smell. It's my wife, 2 young kids and myself that like in this condo and they could care less about the health of my family. I hope everyone ready this and doesnt use them. read more

I really wish i would of read these reviews before I signed a lease with Parargon Equities. There were alot of red flags from the get go that I just chose to ignore and I really wish I hadnt of wasted my time. First off the apartement I rented from them was gorgeous!! It was huge with a nice balcony and valted cielings with a loft area aside from the 2 bed and 2 bath. Needless to say I fell in love and signed for it right away (we even paid an extra 400 bucks to move in before the first because we just couldnt wait)! On move in day I went to pay my deposit and pick up my keys. I also made an appointment with ADAM because he told me that there was some final paperwork he needed me to sign. I got to the office and Adam wasnt there. The receptionist had my keys but I needed the garage openers and the main gate key to actually get into the apartment building and she said Adam did not leave those with her. So I had to wait over an hour in the office for Adam to get back so I can get my keys (meanwhile my family was waiting outside the apartment building with a truck full of furniture). Before we offically moved in I met with the landlord to walk through the apartment to make sure everything was ok. My only concern was the mantel above the fireplace, it seemed really loose. He said he would take care of it no problem. When we moved in my roomate and I placed 2 picture frames, and 3 candles on the mantel since it seemed like the landlord fixed it. After about a month the mantel fell and almost landed on my roommates baby that was sitting up against the couch. When my boyfriend picked up the mantel he saw that there was 2 pieces of cardboard wedged between the mantel and the wall and one screw in the center. I could not believe it!! After the mantel incident it was like a ripple effect. All of a sudden our water heater was not working so we had to take cold showers for almost a week until they could repair it. There was a major leak in the apartment below us and the maintenance man said that a hose from our dishwasher was disconnected so in the 2 months we had been using it we had gradually been building up water that was then leaking into the apartment below us. So for about 3 days we had repair men going in and out of our apartment and my roommate and I had to try to work around our full time schedules to try to be availabel to let the repair men in. We had a washer and dryer in the unit and the dryer stopped drying properly. You could only dry if you had it on "cool" setting which took forever. And then the icing on the cake!! The whole time we were haveing these maintenance issues (all happened within a months time, btw) I was trying to contact Adam to express my concern. I left messages and emails and even went to Paragon in person and everytime I went Adam was not available nor his superior (hmmmm..). By the 3rd month I recieved a nasty voicemail from him telling me he had reason to believe that I had multiple people living with me that were not on the lease. I called him back right away and confirmed that the only people living in the until were the 3 adults that signed the lease, plus my roommate's baby. When I explained to him that we only had friends and family that would stop by periodically and the only person that was at our house at least 4 days out of the week was my roommates babysitter. he made it seem like it was an issue that we had guests over too frequently. At this point I had enough!! We were great tennants, never caused a problem, always paid our rent on time, and were VERY patient with all of the maintenance issues. By the next day we gave our notice and moved out after only living there for 4 months. Its a shame that this company is going to ruin this apartment building because of neglecting basic maintenance repairs. The associate that we were attempting to work with, Adam, was completely incompetent and extremely rude. Very unprofessional. I hope someone reads this and thinks twice before doing business with Paragon Equities. I sure wish I did. read more

READ ALL THE REVIEWS- they all say STAY AWAY! and for a good reason too. my experience with this office was horrible. To be fair, I am an 18 year old, and moving out was all new to me, I had no idea what the hell I was doing. I had so many questions, but felt like I was bothering the office ladies. I called a couple times only to get put on hold and hung up on, so assuming they were too busy for me or simply didnt care, I pretty much did everything on my own. I came to the office assuming only I needed to pay $995 for first months rent (already paid security deposit) trying to be a good tenant. Jeanine came out and told me I owed about $1600 more by 1st of next month, which was only a couple of weeks later. I was completely shocked and left the office crying, pretty pissed they didnt tell me beforehand. If I didnt come by that day I'm sure they wouldn't have told me! Jeanine said "oh I knew you were already moved in because you called" ...????? then why didnt i get my other keys/ information? I signed a lease that day that I was supposed to sign and read the month before. I lived there a whole month and nobody reached out to me! This made me so frustrated. So if you want an office that seems to refuse to help you but demands loads of money by a due date you didnt even know about, this is the place for you! read more

I'm new to home ownership, and recently purchased a condo in a building that Paragon manages. I had an emergency leak from a unit above me practically SHOWERING into my condo at 2 in the morning; called the emergency hotline, and left a message (while feeling completely helpless, might I add). Someone called back within 2 minutes (although sounding froggy from perhaps just waking up, but nonetheless called me right back!), helped me to get ahold of the resident in the unit above me, and, at exactly 7 a.m., there was a plumber at my door ready to help. Not only was this great service, but the leak was considered to be an HOA-covered maintenance, so I didn't have to front any of the bill. I was freaking out that, in addition to all my recent moving expenses, I'd have to pay this absurd plumber fee as well. Thank you, Paragon, for helping this new homeowner take care of that situation, and for assuring me that the HOA has my back! read more

We have had this company for the last few years and it is the WORST! The staff is totally incompetent in regards to the Sterling Act and what it contains. Their staff is the rudest and in desperate need of training for customer service....especially Kim A. Any contact with her is met with either silence, rudeness, or incompetence. She apparently does not know the parameters of her job. Whenever she is asked a question, she answers "That's not my job" Well, Kim you are the association rep...whose job do you think it is to answer questions by homeowners! Every contact with her must be via email because she conveniently denies anything said in a phone conversation. The people they have repair our building are not licensed or insured. Paragon, duck tape is not the fix all for repairs in your buildings! So if you are looking for efficient and professional representation for your Condo Association....Run from this company you will be glad you did. read more

I am currently a tenant and would not recommend Paragon to anyone. They are not responsive to requests when something is wrong in the apartment. My sink was not working probably and after calling several times and waiting 3 weeks I finally just fixed the issue myself. I requested for my carpet to be cleaned and only one room in the apartment was cleaned. They recently made revisions to the building and promised new carpet and paint and then changed their minds and won't be providing it. The revisions have made the building look better but have been a completed inconvenience to tenants. Laundry room was closed for months, workers were in and out of apartments and never came at the times they were scheduled to come in, internet/cable/phone service was randomly shut off at times. They "rewired" the cable lines but had no idea what they were doing so I ended up having to have a technician come out to fix what they did. They put a notice saying there would be noise for about a month but it was really about 4 months. Also asked for my doorbell to be fixed and was told they would get to it in about 6 months. Many neighbors have left their bikes on their patios only for them to be stolen and management to tell them they are not install a bike rack. Neighbors are extremely NOISY!!!!! I can't stress that enough, neighbors are all just NOISY!!!! There is always loud music, parties, children running around unattended, door slamming, dogs barking (although pets are not supposed to be allowed).......this is at all hours of the night......they just completely disregard that some people may want peace and quiet when they at home. Management keeps bragging about the new heated pool. Well maybe they should tell people how tenants allow their children to take a dump in the pool and instead them cleaning it they just scoop out and say they are going to put some chemicals in it but never do. That disgusted me enough to never use the pool again. Anyone who leaves a positive review is probably staff that works for Paragon and I wouldn't believe any of it. I am currently looking for another place to live so that I can get out of this hell hold ASAP. read more
