Been here 3 times. Each time I had to say it's really nothing great. It's just a nice place next to Target. But I won't be tempted after last experience. My friend ordered an entree and it came with a hair on it. She sent it back. When the chef came out to get praised for his meals we let him know what happened and that my friend no longer wanted anything to eat that evening. He phrased it in such a way "no one in our kitchen has that kind of hair so I don't know" ultimately putting the blame on us for the hair. So rude. Especially since the hair didn't match us. Also service sucks here you have to wait forever to get a water refill. Or any kind of attention. Never going back. read more

Just stopped in here on a Wednesday evening. Strong burger game, which is lacking in this area. Pros: -Great burger, cooked well. I had the beer burger, which had delicious flavoring. My companions each had the paragon burger and also enjoyed their meals. -Although it was crowded we were able to get seated right away. -Service was attentive. -Lots of Southern Tier on tap. Cons: -The beer list, while long, does not have a ton of variety in terms of brands. -Our burgers took awhile to come out. Overall, I would return to this location. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but everyone at this establishment was phenomenal. We took our 21 month old and they were beyond accommodating and just generally kind. The food and cocktails were exceptional too. But in this tough time I wanted to acknowledge the wonderful service in particular! read more

I'm not sure if we caught this place on an off day, but I was not there impressed. The reviews raved about them so I cam with family to celebrate a birthday. We started with deviled eggs, and the burrata. I have to give props on the burrata because it was very good and my sister and I enjoyed the deviled eggs. We ordered cocktails which were very watered down. Our waiter was confused about what was available on the menu and we had to show him the menu just to get our drink order in. For entrees, it was a mix of the scallops, salmon, crabcakes, short ribs, and ramen. I had the scallops and they were pretty good, there's a nice surprise of pork belly hidden under the risotto. My husband had the crabcakes and was left looking for the crab in the crabcakes. The short rib was bland and couldve cooked a little longer to be more tender. My dad said he enjoyed his salmon and my mom said the ramen bowl was good, though it could've used a little more flavor in the broth. We had dessert of course, cheesecake and carrot cake to share. The cheesecake was just okay, again lacking flavor, but the carrot cake was pretty good. Our waiter knew we were celebrating a birthday so he was nice enough to bring out a free dessert addition to the table. It was a mason jar or layered mousse, so that was very kind of him. Overall, not the nearly 5 stars the place is boasting. It was hit or miss with the menu and we likely will not be returning. read more

On a second visit, we realized the entrée selection is too small and a little expensive--as my wife put it, when a chicken salad should not be the appealing entrée twice in a row. Nonetheless, very popular and a great place for craft beer at happy hour specials at the bar. read more

This is the sister to Morris Tap and Grille. Eric Levine and Team have picked the perfect area for their second restaurant. There is nothing in the area that compares. They have a healthy respect for craft brews. Im counting 21 choices all laid out on beer menu that identifies each brew with a bio along with ABV. In addition they recognize our vegetarian and vegan friends with very strong choices. Harvest Restaurants which have Roots, trap Rock, urban table, Huntley are seen as the industry standard . However, Paragon proves there is always room for others. Great job! read more

I literally can't count all the reasons I love this spot. From the great food (seriously recommend the duck quesadillas and veggies and salads and Flatbread and other snacks - have yet to try the burgers or pasta) to easy going crowd to tons of space and solid service and amazing happy hour deals this joint has got it going on. The beer list is truly a great one if you ask me - the do a great job curating local and national craft brews & even have great tap takeovers every so often. The happy hour often leaves many people lingering for a while just relaxing & so it gets a little crowded in the main bar space - but they have a large dining area so I imagine it wouldn't be too tough to sit at a table or get some space. Plenty of parking good food and good brews. All one really needs in NJ! They also have tons of tvs but its not really a sports bar - so you can catch a big game but don't expect a solid sports crowd. read more

Excellent place for craft beer and craft food! Matt was an awesome server, he recommended a very tasty beer based on my first choice. The food is amazing, the head chef / owner puts a lot into his menu. You won't be disappointed. read more

The organizational structure of this establishment on busy days is atrocious. Had reservations and still had to wait 15 minutes to get to the hostess. The waiter took about 10 minutes to ask for our drinks and kept forgetting us as he zoomed by. The food was excellent, with great attention to detail, but I may stick to coming to this place when it's less crowded. read more

it wasn't good but it wasn't a catastrophe= 2 stars hostess promptly sat us with a reservation. the entire restaurant smelled like fish and later when I to the bathroom I noticed the bar smelled like a perm at a hair salon. it also had no wait and many empty tables for a Friday night. our waitress came over after about 5 minutes and asked if we had been there before. (side note: I don't understand why places do this if there is nothing different about their serving/ordering style...it's not a buffet or family style or anything special so why ask?) never asked about drinks just hurried off when we said yes. (my family had been here, not my husband and I). server comes back and takes a food order very disorganized. I had a few questions about the menu as i am pregnant and having some food issues. specifically I asked about a side that would come with an entree and she blankly looked at me. again I asked what came with the crab cakes and if I could sub for a potato side and she said the crab cakes come on corn. not offering to ask or anything. with my food order I also asked for a drink. everyone else ordered and she hurriedly read off the list of food and didn't mention the ginger ale and left. guess what? no ginger ale. randomly some man (very disheveled, assuming a bus boy of sorts) dropped some chips and a giant vat of a mayo based sauce (like all the others that came with our dishes) and loudly mumbled "it's on the house". he also ran off. we finally flagged down our waitress who was more than attentive to the table a few seats away. she barely apologized for failing to ask if we wanted drinks (and almost defended herself not doing it) and finally I got my drink as the food came. the runner was nice and personable. prior to the food arriving our waitress dropped 4'wet naps and a stack of bar napkins on the table with no explanation. no one ordered ribs or any type of handheld messy food. the food wasn't anything to write home about. the crab tacos were almost insulting. it was clearly the same crab dip they sell at Costco mixed with a few chopped tomatoes and put inside frozen mini taco shells. dipping sauce was some yellow mayo. I had the crab and shrimp cakes. they came over a small bit of corn tossed with some peppers. no sauce on the corn. I asked for a side of cocktail sauce (which the waitress almost refused to do, stating she didn't know if they had cocktail sauce) the cakes were extremely mushy without chunks of crab visible or tasted. where's the shrimp? my husband remarked how "bready" they tasted. the mashed potatoes were good. (that we were charged extra for since the dish had no side for 22 dollars) he had the chicken and waffles. the whole dish was a super dark brown. he said the waffles tasted like frozen reheated ones. it smelled good but he was less than enthused. we didn't get dessert. I can't even imagine the prices and honestly a cup with a layer of mousse and a layer of Oreos and repeated is insulting to sell for more than 4 dollars.) oh and the tip was included? never have I seen less than parties of 6 or 8 include tip. the prices are steep. the restaurant is LOUD and it seems like they're conflicted as to their identity. they have a nice and walled off dining room, a loud room for the masses, and a separate bar room. cloth napkins and wet naps are confusing. maybe retrain the staff and be a bit more flexible on the meals. it's 2016 and you're not a Michelin star restaurant, a simple substitution could make or break a repeat customer, but I'm pretty sure my husband and I won't be back. (I can't speak for the rest of my family but they didn't look thrilled either) read more

Came on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. This is a relatively new place so I came with fairly low expectations. The restaurant was surprisingly packed. The waitress seemed flustered. She handed us the drink menu and 1 second later asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. Umm you just gave us the menu...? Moving on... starting with the apps - We had the Thai chicken flatbread and shrimp and crab cake balls. Both tasted like lackluster bar food. Should have went with the calamari or nachos (always a safer bet)! For dinner we had the following - 1. Porkchop and Mac - got this based on Yelp reviews and definitely wasn't disappointed. 2. Shrimp risotto - good, but small portion 3. Burger and wings - burger is big and tasty. Wings were standard. For a place that's aimed towards the bar crowd, you really can't ever go wrong with burgers and wings... 4. Pappardelle - good, decent portion 5. Boneless short ribs - worst dish of them all, more veggies than meat. Very small portion. Looked more like an appetizer. My one guest said this looked like leftover food for the dog... The cocktail drinks made the night better thankfully. Apple cranberry mojitos were good, but not very strong. All in all, would probably go again. Needs some work though. read more

I give Paragon 4 stars for their excellent ever changing beer list and for their amazing service. I like the food as well, but I would go there for the beer. If you like craft beers and a great selection, go here NOW. read more

Really love this place. Beer list is great for people who are into that, but the mixed drinks are excellent. The one bartender, Alex, makes by far the best drink, Scotland Smash. I would totally recommend the buffalo chicken dip and burgers. Mind you I come in weekly. Drinks: Taste the same every time he makes them. Dip: Consistency of the dip is right, not too runny. Just spicy enough as well. Burger: Cooked solid medium with great toppings. Overall : The great food and service keeps us coming back. read more

We've been here a few times and have always been pleased with the food and service. Different story this time! Had a live musician, who was very loud and very mediocre. They originally tried to seat us near where he was performing, but I refused that table and moved to the furthest point away. Server was nice, but kind of clueless. Took our order but left the menus behind. When the runners delivered salads, for which we asked for oil and vinegar on the side, they brought a plastic tub of oil, with no vinegar. When we finally got their attention, they brought the vinegar in tiny little bowl that allowed the vinegar to slop around. Have you ever heard of cruets???? Food was okay, but everything was just a bit "off". ... Training appears to be an issue... read more

Don't be fooled by the appetizer. It's good. But our entree was not. Waiters/waitress were dress like slobs (shirts hanging out, they were perspiring - not presentable). Our waitress was talking/showing pictures on her phone etc. to another table for over 10 mins., and we were unable to get her attention. Totally lack good service. Food was okay, you can go to a diner and get same equal type of food (trust me, I know good tasting food). Place only good for appetizer n drinks. read more

It's great to have a place like this so close to my house. The food is good (not great) but the atmosphere and the beer list is why we'll come back. I'll likely stick to the burger, as the other menu items we ordered were pretty one note. I just expected a little more from the food. The desserts were pretty average too. They need a consultant chef to come in and just kick it up a little. Next time will come back to try the brunch. read more

My husband and I had lunch and it was very good. We really liked it that the owner came out from the kitchen and asked how everything was and he even took the time to chat for a few minutes very impressed. The servers were very nice and checked on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed I would go back for sure We just had Father's Day dinner here was very unhappy fish tacos were bad the fish was hard as a rock. Told waitress who was to busy talking with the other waitresses to check on us or give good service. My husband had swordfish and that was almost bad very fishy smelling. The ginger pork pops were not any better. I will not be back sorry to say read more

I recommend this place. My fiancée and I walked in around 6pm on a Friday. We were greeted by a very pleasant host stand. I think the manager was there talking to them and he took us to our table. We were greeted by the server Dakota, she was not enthusiastic at all. We ordered beers and the Buffalo chicken dip. They have an extensive beer list and they offer flights. I ordered the peanut butter porter and it was really really good. The dip was really good too. For dinner I ordered the short rib grilled cheese, which was amazing. I am definitely coming back to ordered that! It was so good OMG! The whole menu looked good, they had very good options. My fiancé ordered a burger and he was very happy with it too. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I thought the service was not very good. The manager did stop by to see how we're doing which was very nice, but Dakota seemed to not want to be there. read more

I stopped by this place on a whim. I don't make it to the Westfield area much but I saw it across the way from Target. I was also alone but something about this place intrigued me. I'm glad I stopped in because this place is great. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Just because I was alone, I didn't feel awkward at all. (To note, I came on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy.) I ordered the duck quesadilla and it was soooo good. That ghost pepper is just the right amount of heat. I wished I lived closer because this is definitely one of those places that you'd want to be a regular at. The only thing this place suffers from is an odd location and outside appearance. I honestly thought I would be walking into a brewery that only did tours and tastings, because a strip mall right off the parkway feels oddly corporate. But on the inside, it's more like a beer hall/ tavern that's warmly welcoming you to enjoy a good meal. Also one of the waiters/bartenders was pretty cute so that was a plus. Lol. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I really liked the chickpea meatballs which comes with a butternut squash type noodles. It was delicious, tasty and healthy. I also enjoyed the traditional Mac and cheese. Don't get the vegan burger, I did not like the taste and was too mushy. Their fries are very crispy, they are worth getting! I've tried Paragon Tap about 3 times, and it is just OK. The food is good, but not stellar. The prices are a bit high for what you receive. It is not my favorite place by far, but just OK. There are many other places in the surrounding area where you could go for better food, at more reasonable prices. One good quality is that there is ample parking since the surrounding lot is quite large. Also, the wait and bar staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Service has never been an issue. read more

I got a gc from xmas. I finally went in for lunch on 2/16/15. I figured i needed to get in and try this place. It was just, meh. the best part of the lunch was the bartender, Ashly. It was presidents day and we got there about 130 is. the bar was about 12 deep and a couple of tables in the bar were full. she was definitely overwhelmed but smiled filed smiled. the restaurant had at least two servers and there was a manager ( i think, glasses and a shirt beard ) he never came over to us or even seemed to try and help her. we tried to order some drinks. a specialty blueberry one was not avail due to not having blueberry but ashly tried to substitute cranberry vodka. we chose the hendricks special drink but it was missing another ingredient so we got something else. she said it ws due to the weekend being busy form valentines day. a valid reason but not really. poor ordering on management part. anyway i wanted a beer and described what i wanted. ashley brought me a couple of different samples. i wound up going with a blue moon. we had the calamari. it was average. it wasn't particularly tasty or well seasoned. it did have some pickled peppers but the sauce was unremarkable. also there were no bodies in it. i know that sounds gross but i like them. it was, meh. we also had the chicken buffalo bacon dip. the chips were kind of stale and the dip had no great flavor. it was really a thick mess in a taco type bowl. again unremarkable. we saw the bacon eater burger and asked for it to be split in half so we could share. it was med well but the blue cheese on it was so overpowering it was just a blue cheese burger. maybe some sour pickle would have been great to counteract the blue cheese and give it some depth. the burger was also very crumbly and the brioche bun was not really warm or anything. we had 2 desserts--the dole leches cake was nothing special as was the same with the chocolate ganache cake. it was very thick and dense. they dressed the plate with some dollops of creme but they were really for show and not very useful for ingesting the desserts. also the desserts looked like they came out of a box. i hope with mr levie reputation that is not the case but you taste with your eyes as well as your mouth. the total bill was 70$ for lunch. thank goodness i had the gift card but i am disappointed that is was just a mediocre experience. i could have gotten the same food at a chiles or somewhere else. if i could compare it to a cheesecake factory i would say the cheesecake factory would win hands down. i have to say i am disappointed because i showed the website to many people when i got this present and was soon excited to go there. i feel cheated. try it at your own risk. read more

A great find for pub food in the area. We had a family meet up with 12 people on a sunday evening. We had a reservation, but there was no problem as there were not a lot of people. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We started with sharing the truffle fries and hummus plate. Both were excellent, especially the fries. I had the bacon eater burger, my son had the BBQ oink & moo. Both of these were delicious. My daughter is a vegetarian and they had a lot of options for her as well. She had a pesto pasta which was delicious. We all shared several deserts including the pot de crème, & the canoli crème platter (not sure what it was called). These were also fantastic. We had a great meal & evening and would recommend to anyone in the area. read more

Great beer selection! Might need to mention that again beer selection is probably best in the area! Ordered the fried calamari appetizer for the table which we all enjoyed. Calamari was cooked perfectly which is very rare around here. For my main I had the fish tacos, which did not disappoint. I am actually a massive fish taco fan and these where right up there on my favorite list. Fish was very fresh and again cooked excellently. It's nice to have a solid restaurant in my area because usually I find myself treking up to Montclair or down to asbury. The chef came out to introduce himself which I also thought was a nice touch. He definitely knows how to cook and run a large restaurant honestly probably one of the best places you will eat at in this area. Can not praise it enough! read more

Would have given the place 5 stars, but no one was perfect here today. They do half off bottles of wine on Monday which is great, but the bottle I ordered was out of stock, the bottle we replaced it with was almost 7 dollars more expensive and I was a little shocked that they didn't give me the same price for the other bottle. Would have been common courtesy. Also ordered one of those delicious sandwiches pictures and mine should have come with a side salad not French fries. The server did fix it for me, and the look on her face told me that it was a kitchen mistake and not hers. Otherwise everything else was great from the service to the ambiance. read more

Good start....poor ending. Beer list, including craft beers was very good. Wifey got a sorghum ale and I got the 12% ABV stout.....excellent. Appetizer chips and aioli were prompt and good. Salads came out in good time and were decent. Unfortunately our dinner ticket got lost and we waited almost an hour for food. On the up side, the manager came over prospectively and told us what happened just as we were wondering about it. He did comp our drinks. Of our four entrees, the fish was terrible (fishy and actually seared on the wrong side), the pork ravioli were ok, one set of ribs were very good and one were so so. The waiter was very receptive to comments about the fish and very nice the whole time Three stars - one for ambiance, one for beer list, and one for prospectively addressing an issue with service, but two off for food and wait. May try it again and revise review if I do. Will probably stick to beer and bar food though. read more
