You are also expected to read their FAQ page when booking or you will be penalized and not given your full time. Buyer beware. When I attempted to mention the email confirmation (with terms and conditions) doesn't state the required early arrival time I was told by this staff member "do you want to keep arguing and lose more time on your room?". Please see the image of my email confirmation since no one cared to see what your customer sees in their email confirmation. I was there today at 4 pm so you may want to double check who is working. They obviously don't like people. And in no way did I expect extra time but I checked the available bookings and no one was using the room after us. Lots of warnings about stealing stuff and getting kicked out for unruly behavior. This was before even going into the room. We failed to complete and asked to hear the rest of the story but told no, they had another group coming and needed to reset the room and to check our pockets to make sure we didn't take anything. You are able to ask for 3 clues, however each time you ask for a clue you are deducted time from your game. We had a good time overall. Wish there could've been more effects to the room. Or felt more realistic. You can definitely tell you're in an office space and next room is a storage. Also, some of the clues were literally impossible to figure out when we asked for a clue and they told us what it was, we all just looked at each other and laughed cause there was no way Also, if you ask for help they take time off the clock. I went with a group of 8 people for my birthday, we made a reservation two days in advance. We showed up to a locked door with no one inside. We waited for 30 minutes then walked to the coffee shop next door to see if they had any idea what was going on, they said this happened frequently. This place is a joke... They want to charge $30 for my infant child even though my child gets in free everywhere else... their excuse was because it's "fire code." This was the first time I have ever done an escape room and lets just say, this won't be the last time I will be doing one! A group of 9 of us wanted to try an escape room and we researched some and came across Paradox. We liked the location, being right near downtown Gilbert and I really liked that we were going to be able to have a room to ourselves. I called the number that was provided and the lady who answered was so friendly and helpful, she made me more excited about choosing this location. We had wanted to do the escape room on a Thursday, but online it was showing not available. She had told me that sometimes if you call and they can get someone to come in an work, they will open up a day on the calendar for you so you can have a day during the week, which I thought was just great! She said she would call to see if someone could work and she texted me back within 5 minutes to tell me it was available! We showed up about 10 mins early, which I would recommend coming about 15 or 20 mins early. Our clue master was very nice and explained things very well before we started and made sure to answer any questions we had. We did the M16 room and even being the first time, I felt it was the perfect level of difficulty with 9 of us trying to get out. Our clue master was really nice and would send messages over the tv if we just needed a little nudge. We made it out with 8 minutes left to spare! Overall, this was such a fun experience! It's a great team building activity and a really nice feeling to do something that is so involved you kinda forget about the outside world for an hour and don't look at your phone or social media. We paid $85 (total) for two people that included the addition $35 private experience for 60 mins and didn't get that time because we had to ask for two clues. They don't even provide nudges! What do they have to gain by making these changes? There are much better escape rooms in the area that don't take time for getting clues. read more

A group of friend decided to do an escape room and decided on Caskwerks & Capone. Initially the room design was very impressive and well done, however the customer service from the game master quickly overshadowed that. Once in the room a video was played to "set the stage" but the sound did not work, so we were lost from the beginning, we attempted to ask the game master if the video played was supposed to have sound to which she replied, "huh lol". We decided to push ahead with little information on what our goal was... were we FBI or some of Capone's henchman? The most infuriating part was that the game master was clearly not paying attention to us in the room, 2 out of the 3 clues we were given were completely useless to us because we hadn't gotten to that part of the room. Because of the lack of awareness of what would actually be helpful to us in the moment that we asked for a clue we just ended up going in circles. It is clear that whoever created this room loves the game play, however the young employees do not have that same passion and honestly felt like they didn't want to be there and were inconvenienced by us being there. My husband & I did the M16: The Inside Job at Paradox Escape Room. There were 2 additional people who signed up. 4 people was a pretty good sized group for this room. The premise was pretty simple & lots of clues were available to figure out the answers. The rules here are set up a little differently since they take away time from you when you get clues. Luckily, we only had to ask for help once or twice and were able to escape with several minutes to spare. Not sure how this room stacks up to other rooms they have but compared to ones we've done at other locations, this did seem a little bit easier .. or maybe we were just really good! Overall, the staff was helpful in getting us set up, assisting with questions, so on. I'd definitely return here to try out other rooms! read more

Casino Room - super fun, lots of twist and turns in the game. Went with 2 adults and 5 teens. While this was an "easy" level, we didn't make it. Granted, we were pretty close to getting out. Negative 1 star - that's for the time penalty you get when you ask for a clue. If I'm paying for 60 minutes of time, I should be given that. Not deducted from the time if you ask for a clue. I've been to several rooms and none have taken away time from your clock. I think that is something they need to remove or just say you have only 2-3 clues for the entire game. There's already a time penalty in the game for something (which I won't spoil), and that I think is pretty cool part of the game. Overall, super fun, a great time with the kids, and probably would go back (once they change the clue time deduction). read more

I want to start with saying my girlfriend and I have done over 20 escape rooms. We have never left an escape room feeling disappointed. We feel like we were ripped off. 1. We were excited for a casino themed escape room. None of the clues or puzzles were really casino related. There was a craps table in the room but it was never used. Take out that table and I wouldn't have guessed we were breaking into a casino vault. 2. The room did not flow well compared to any other escape room we've done. There was a lot of info, but nothing to guide you to what goes where. 3. Clues were worn down and illegible. We were stuck on one clue for quite a while only to find out that it was so worn down that you couldn't read one of the numbers you needed. 4. It was pretty clear our cluemaster was not paying attention or was distracted. We asked for a clue at one point and ended up just sitting there waiting until we asked again a few minutes later. We were given clues that required information we still hadn't gotten or other pieces we hadn't collected yet, so the clues made things more confusing. 5. A couple of the locks were left open from the previous game. read more

Welp.... my best friend and I have done close to 100 escape rooms. this one was poorly done. We did collection. the puzzle answers did not lead to the next puzzle, hints were poorly given. We heard another group screaming the entire time Which was very distracting. We were ACTUALLY locked in and the exit keypad did not work when we tried to leave. since this is illegal after an escape room caught on fire and people were locked in and died I would NOT trust this place. Our game master was rude and not friendly, her hints were HORRIBLE and just an overall bad experience. besides the fact that overall the room was just poorly designed. if you want an enjoyable escape room experience go to "escape room Mesa". will not be returning here as this room was a waste of 40$. I've done both the Casino Heist and Caskworks and Capone. Both were really fun. I did the Casino Heist for my 10 year olds birthday, with 5 10 year olds, a 4 year old, and an infant. All the kids had a good time. I don't think they could do it without an adult, but they didn't know they weren't really helping to solve the clues, lol. This one was fun because you had to break into a second room. I did Caskworks and Capone with a friend. It was my first time only having two people solving the clues. It was fun and I really enjoyed the set up of the room. It looked like a speakeasy. I think we would have solved faster with one more person but we made it out with 19 seconds to spare! The hints are good and we didn't need to use any clues, which cost time. This one was also cool because you start in a dark room and have to figure out how to turn on the lights! Not totally dark, but you definitely need to get the lights figured out first. Overall, I like this place, they have friendly staff and fun rooms. This was my third time going to an escape room and it managed to impress. Overall, this was the cheapest escape room in the area. However, I have learned that just because it was inexpensive, doesn't mean it lacks in quality. This was my favorite escape room out of all three I have done. We did the casino heist game and managed to escape with almost 7 minutes to spare! It was such an immersive experience for only $18 a person with the groupon. If you're in the area and wanting to do an escape room, come here! (P.S. I would recommend booking a private room through Groupon, they also price match Groupon over the phone if you'd prefer to book with them. My friends wanted to do a girls night here. When you book the room, you have the option of booking it individually for that room. When we arrived, I guess someone else also booked the room, so he joined our girls night. lol. So there was a total of 5 of us. We ended up doing the Collector room. We were definitely advised that it was a very difficult room, which they were definitely right about that. You have to figure out a lot of combinations to open some locks. There is also some math involved, so bring someone who is good at math. I think it was a fun experience, the only thing I didn't like is if you ask for a clue then they take some time off of your clock. I've been to two other Escape rooms and I've never heard of that. They give you pretty good hints, so I don't think you'll need the clues, however we still did. lol. We were able to make it out with 4 minutes to spare! read more

Very disappointing experience. The owner/operator sure is greedy. Knows how to make a buck by taking advantage of clients. 1a. Price per person is steep compared to other locations so it gives you the FALSE impression that you are going to a very impressive experience. The rate they charge is same as places that have complex multiple-rooms per escape each with a lot of bells and whistles. Those stories are relevant and guide you through the process but not here. 1b. Price tier should be children's rate versus adult rate, not all $30 each. 2. The intro video and instructions by the employee are all about telling people not to tear up the room and furnishings and not to photograph or video. There are no clues. Again, the ownership being concerned for their own welfare before the customer. 3. The room is very dark, typical for e-rooms, but there is only 1 flashlight provided. 4. The location is only one single small cramped room to escape. 5. The background music from the narrated plays loudly the whole time so it is difficult to hear your teammates and you have to shout loudly. 6. This room is about 70% or more "Red Herrings" multiple combo letter locks (hard to read numbers) or codes that don't actually open or provide information which are only distract your attention and eat away at your time. This is a very Off-balance way to once again take advantage of customers and give your room a high difficulty rating. You read a bunch of cards that don't link together or have a use. If you solve something out of sequence - a sequence that is totally unclear by the way - you are screwed and will fail. 7. There are a number of clues that are not intuitive or explicitly connected. There is a lot of information you have to randomly locate and then need to try codes out on every single combo lock because there is no direction of where to use an uncoded clue and there are a limited amount of locations for them to put locks in such a tiny rooms (remember, most of the locks are useless). 8. The biggest scam of all is that 1/2 of the precious time you have will be spent on trying to solve a long complex story problem where you have to look up amounts that fall on specific dates, add them, then a second set of numbers is totalled and gets subtracted from this first amount, and finally you divide the difference by a $ amount to come up with a final value. Irritating that 1/2 time is spent on a story problem that you have to find the pieces of ... but even when you have a 4 digit code solved you have to try it on every lock because nothing leads you to where to use the code. In no way has any other escape room required such complicated math. You are not supposed to need to be a mathematician or have prior knowledge. I had a doctor and a banker with us who could not help us to solve things that just don't make sense or provide remote direction. 9. Also, you are limited to 3 clues and each deducts an increasingly higher amount of minutes from your game play time clock. Using a 3rd clue eats 20 minutes of game time. Just another mode of rip-off. And, since clues are room monitor managed you must read the screen in whatever convoluted typing + explanation the room monitor gives. And, if the clue hasn't been solved ... they delete it from the screen so you have to shout to get them to bring it back up on the screen and not deduct time again. 10. I could tell from the overall demeanor / mood of our room monitor that she wasn't going to be helpful or providing useful support. The hints the provide are also overly complex. 11. A clue card has such an abundance of different numbers (i.e. fingerprint) and for each clue there are multiple mathematical steps and story bits that you have to combine. So, with a card full of numbers you have to figure out which fingers to add based on other clues. So multiple clues have to be combined to figure out each math problems. So, odds are greatly reduced of solving. 12. My group and I have been to nearly a dozen escape rooms, some more difficult than others but ALL were far more logical and had the qualities of the best practices for escape room planning and execution. 13. I've now tried both the rooms at Paradox and both are equally flawed and unrefined and disappointing. 14. You don't feel good when leaving, because so much of the product is designed to waste time and cause failure, you don't feel challenged or good that you tried and that the room was complex. Instead you feel ripped off and unhappy with the experience altogether. 15. In conclusion, this location has the WORST escape rooms ever. Don't waste your money or time. All 3 Paradox Escape Rooms "Collector", "Caskworks", "Casino" My guests and I have graded all a score of F. Rooms are 'curated nicely' so you think that it will be something really special...all went total sucky. read more

We have been to Paradox and have done two of their rooms. My husband and I did The Bunker, and we enjoyed it. The clue master was nice and able to help us out when we asked for it. The Bunker was good and a little easy for us since we've done a handful of escape rooms before. Today, we did The Collector as a group of 3. We had Phil as our game master and he was polite and friendly even before our escape room. He made us feel welcomed and excited to take on the challenge of a difficult room. The room was perfect for the theme and we all really enjoyed it. Phil was super helpful in confirming or denying combos that we were trying to use for specific locks. We cannot say enough of how awesome he was! The Collector was a challenging room, but definitely one I would recommend to people who have done a handful of escape rooms before. My daughter requested an escape room experience for her 15th birthday. We had a total of 10 teens. It was somewhat difficult to find an escape room that could accommodate more than eight. That's why I was so excited about Paradox Escape room. I utilized their online booking system to schedule our experience. It was pretty easy to use. From that point on my experience went downhill. I tried to contact them several times to clarify who could sign their waiver. Regardless of the time of day, every time I called the phone went to voicemail. After leaving several messages over the week, I finally received a phone call the day before our event. Post event, I had a couple questions, I called 3 times (one as we left the parking lot), still no answer. As a business I think good customer service includes being available to your clientele. I did give them 2 stars because the kids did have a good time. I won't be returning to Paradox Escape Room, there are enough other escape rooms available.
