Taroko Sports - Mesa, AZ: Where Baseball Dreams Meet Arcade Realities (and 3 AM Regrets) Listen, in a world where most "sports entertainment" spots feel like glorified Chuck E. Cheese for adults who peaked in little league, Taroko Sports swings for the fences and actually connects. This Taiwanese import turned Mesa Riverview into a high-tech baseball playground that's part batting cage, part arcade fever dream, and all adrenaline. The star? Those futuristic batting cages with LCD pitchers staring you down like they're personally offended by your stance. Real-time stats, gamified scoring - you'll feel like a pro until you whiff on a 40 mph softball and remember you're just here for the vibes. Pitching cages let you play tic-tac-toe with your throws (genius), while mini bowling, electronic darts, 5D racing sims, and pop-a-shot basketball keep the non-baseball folks happy. Now 24/7 (because who doesn't crave a home run derby at dawn?), with that $14.99 unlimited overnight deal that's basically therapy for insomniacs. Grab pizza, wings, or fries to refuel - solid bar food that hits the spot without pretending to be gourmet. Wash it down while lounging on one of their big-screen TVs blasting live sports. The witty downside: It's credit-based, so costs add up faster than a bad inning if you're not careful. Crowds can get rowdy (hello, birthday parties and team outings), and if you're allergic to neon lights and victory dances, this might not be your jam. Verdict: 4.7 out of 5 baseballs. Taroko knocks it out of the park for families, date nights, or solo ego boosts. In the desert heat, this air-conditioned oasis is a grand slam - just bring your A-game (or at least a helmet).

Had an amazing time at Taroko! There's so much this place has to offer for sport enthusiasts. I came during one of the special promotions for night play. The experience is very laid back, self directed. There's a lot of cages and things to do. There's a couple of places for basketball, mini bowling, and darts. It's not super busy at night, which made it really convenient to constantly be doing something. By the end of the evening, early AM, my back was sore and arms felt like they were jumping out of my body, but it was a great time!

This place has potential, but our visit on opening weekend was riddled with issues. You have to sign a waiver to use the batting cages, and buy a plastic card to store credits on. I tried paying cash, but the girl at the counter told me they're a cashless venue. That seemed strange, considering they have self serve machines that accept cash, but whatever, no big deal for me. There are 10-12 batting cages. I think the fastest baseball machine is 70mph. There are three fast pitch softball machines. There are two machines that are both baseball and slow pitch softball. I think they'd be better suited swapping the roles, and having three dedicated slow pitch softball machines, and two multipurpose machines with baseball and fast pitch softball, but that's just my opinion based on observations at other batting cages. Of those dozen or so machines, at least three of them were "under maintenance," on opening weekend. The virtual pitcher on the screen is different to me, compared to just watching a machine. I didn't hate it, but it's definitely different from what I'm used to. All of the cages have two different sized bats, and an adjustable helmet. There are three pitching machines. My brother and I enjoyed them, while we were allowed to play. Before we left, two of the three were "under maintenance." There are four big basketball games, and four small basketball games. Two of the big machines, the screens weren't displaying anything, so hard to play. It also seemed the machines weren't linked together properly, so my brother and I couldn't compete head to head. We wanted to try the mini bowling, but all four lanes were "under maintenance." The dart boards looked interesting, but they keep the darts at the front desk. There was a line and only one girl working the counter, and at this point we were kinda turned off from all of the other inconveniences, so we decided to skip them. For those interested, there are also a few racing games, and couple shooting games, two air hockey tables, DDR, and a punching bag game. We didn't check out the food this time, because it wasn't clear where to order. Overall, this place definitely has potential, and it easily gains at least another star once they get the kinks worked. Batting cages in the AC during the summer, is a no brainer.

Great spot for some casual, active fun. I took my little boy here for the batting cages and we both ended up having a blast. The cages are really cool--they use a video screen that shows a pitcher winding up before the ball comes out, which makes the timing feel a lot more realistic. You can choose the speed and whether you want baseball or softball. It's great for all skill levels, even beginners. They also have mini bowling, racing games with hydraulic seats that actually move with the game (super fun), and a few dart machines tucked in the back. There's a nice mix of activities so you can bounce around and keep things interesting. The staff was super friendly and even took a minute to help coach my son while he was hitting. It was a small thing but really appreciated--he came away feeling proud of himself and already wants to go back. Everything runs on a game card system where you load credits and just swipe to play, which makes it easy. The space was clean, not too crowded, and the whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming. We'll definitely be back--it's a fun way to do something active that's different from the usual weekend plans.

The game that we thought was pretty neat was the pitching games so definitely try that one out!

My family and I went to Sunsplash this last Sunday and we had a great time. We opted to pack a…read morelunch that we kept in the car and ate it in the trunk of our car. The weather was perfect but it would be a lot to eat in the car during the hot summer. I feel like there was a lot of variety of things to do for the age difference of my kids. My main issue was with the flooring of the entire park. I'd like to see them do something to make the sidewalk more comfortable for the 99% of people who are walking around barefoot. All of our feet hurt from walking around on the really hard concrete. I guess I'd recommend you wear water shoes if you have them. We used a Get Out Pass and the whole process was seamless. It's worth getting because just a trip to Sunsplash is pretty much the same price as a Get Out Pass and you get so much out of it. I don't know if I'd go again because the cost is pretty high.

Plus, you can play mini golf or even take a ride in the bumper boats or race karts. Definitely a timeless classic for me, and why I prefer Golfland over Sunsplash. Though Sunsplash isn't my favorite, I've still enjoyed myself there as my previous company used to do a holiday splash party each summer. The rental spaces are great, though the catered food was nothing special (hamburgers and hot dogs). All in all, it was still a fun event and you can count on me being in the lazy river if visiting Sunsplash!
