Folks who gripe about the boarding times or that "tips" are appreciated have likely never worked in a true service position. Those we saw on this trip were continuously hustling, whether it was checking lines, pulling in ramps, handling food/drink requests, dealing with lavatories, etc. They earned those tips. Bum deal however for the on-board tickets to the e-cars/glorified golf carts claiming a discount? NO. You can get better, newer access to such golf carts, Vespas, bikes, e-bikes, etc. on the island. We got gyped into $1q39 (at a discount) for only 4 hours when these others offered 6-hour options for $120. Sucked too that you'll pay to park those babies everywhere you're going to try and see. Trip was worth the experience. Staff was friendly. Hope they got a kickback from the crappy e-cars.

The gentleman directing traffic made me drive all the way around another lane, even though there wasn't a single car behind me, just so I could pull up next to him. It seemed unnecessary, but not a huge deal. The first real disappointment came at the ticket window around 6:30 a.m. The woman working there was incredibly rude, short-tempered, and dismissive. A smile or a simple "good morning" would have gone a long way. If working with people has become that frustrating, perhaps customer service isn't the right position. The ferry ride itself was fantastic! The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The restrooms, both at the terminal and onboard, were spotless, and the crew on the ferry was friendly and professional. The ride to Key West was one of the highlights of our trip. Unfortunately, our vacation was cut short when one member of our group experienced a heart-related medical issue, forcing us to return a day early. We called the company and were told we could take the Sunday evening ferry back, which sounded accommodating at first. However, we were then charged an additional $60 per person--including the child--even though we already had round-trip tickets. On top of that, we received no refund or credit for the parking. We had prepaid $40 for two nights, but because we returned later than planned, we ended up paying for a third day as well. Considering the parking lot was nearly empty, some flexibility or goodwill would have been appreciated during a medical emergency. We were instructed to arrive after 1:00 p.m. to pick up our boarding passes for the 6:00 p.m. departure. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and were immediately told we were "late" and would now be assigned to Group B boarding. The woman at the counter was shockingly rude. She rolled her eyes, spoke to us in a belittling tone, and even stated that she was "over 65 and doesn't give a s*** anymore dealing with people." I've never heard a customer service employee speak that way to paying customers. The experience only got worse. When Group A boarding was called, I stood up because I thought it was our turn. The same employee actually rushed out from behind the counter waving her arms and motioning for me to sit back down, as if I had done something wrong. It was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. It's unfortunate because the ferry itself is excellent. The boat, the ride, and the onboard staff deserve five stars. Unfortunately, the employees at the ticket counter turned what should have been a wonderful experience into a stressful and unpleasant one. We travel often and understand that emergencies happen. A little compassion, professionalism, and kindness would have made all the difference. Instead, we left feeling like we were an inconvenience. Sadly, despite loving the ferry ride itself, our entire group agreed that next time we'd rather drive the seven hours from Sarasota than deal with the ticket office again. 2/5 stars One star for the wonderful ferry ride and onboard crew. One star for the clean, comfortable boat. The remaining three stars were lost because of the consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional customer service at the ticket office.

Very Disappointing -- Not Worth the Price…read more Our stay at Eden House was unfortunately very disappointing, especially considering the price. The rooms are much smaller than they appear in the pictures. The photos on the website create the impression of a more spacious and updated property, but the reality was quite different. Several of the amenities we expected to enjoy were also unavailable. Azure House restaurant was closed, the top deck was closed due to construction, and although the property advertises happy hour from 4-6 PM, the Tiki Bar never opened during our stay. That was particularly frustrating because these are amenities that influenced our decision to stay here. We also rented a golf cart and asked if we could park it in the restaurant parking area since Azure House was closed and the parking area was not being used. The hotel was not willing to accommodate this simple request, which was another disappointment and seemed unnecessarily inflexible. The front desk service was another major disappointment. Most of the staff we encountered were rude and unfriendly, which is not the kind of hospitality you expect from a hotel in Key West. There were a few pleasant employees, but unfortunately, the overall experience with the front desk was poor. Then there is the late checkout policy. Checkout is at 10 AM, and the hotel charges $25 for every additional hour. For guests with later flights, that becomes extremely expensive very quickly. Considering that several of the property's advertised amenities were unavailable, charging that much simply to remain in the room longer felt unreasonable. The location is convenient, but a good location does not make up for poor service, misleading room photos, closed amenities, construction, unnecessary inflexibility, and a lack of value for the money. We came to Key West expecting a relaxing and enjoyable stay, but Eden House fell well short of what was advertised. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.

We happened to be there for my birthday, and when we arrived there was a birthday banner hanging in our room, which was a fun surprise. They also had ear plugs available in the room. Neither is a big thing on its own, but together they showed an attention to detail that we appreciated. It was loud and put out an unfavorable smell. It took some time, but it did eventually burn off. We could have used some instruction on the various remotes. One was for the air/heat wall unit, one was for the ceiling fan and the other for the TV. We never could figure out how to turn off the fan. The room was decently clean, but needed a good dusting. Overall, we would stay here again. The location, food and drink are really good, the bed is comfortable, but the room could use a bit better cleaning and instructions for using the remotes. The area outside our second floor room was large and private with chairs to relax in. That was nice, too, as well as the pool.

Our bathroom was quite clean and our room seemed quite new. We had a fantastic time and would easily stay here again. Great amenities as well! Also really easy to find street parking but you may just have to walk a few blocks.

I have known her for decades and trust her implicitly. Do keep in mind, generally speaking, Key West is a high-end destination, so nothing is going to be cheap. But, if there is a deal to be found, Susie will find it. She has an excellent working knowledge of the very best accommodations on the island, including options and deals you simply won't find on the internet. She is also your best source for booking excursions (snorkel, kayaking tours, sunset cruises, dining, etc.), as she maintains relationships with the very best vendors on the island, and she is always current on who is offering the highest quality experiences, for your money. She is also something of a foodie, so she knows where to dine (not sure she's ever actually cooked a meal in her life...why would you in KW, with so many wonderful dining options?) On my recent trip down, not only was she able to book me into hotels I could never have otherwise afforded, but she turned me onto some of the best dining experiences I have ever had. And she went SO above and beyond, insuring my mother, sister and neice, who were also visiting, were well taken care of. We were all so grateful to her, by the time we left. I know I sound like a commercial, but I feel really strongly about this. It is the difference between a "vacation" and "an experience of a lifetime." Her services don't cost you a dime and there is no better advocate to have in your corner. As far as attractions I would recommend: make sure you snorkel on the reef, and definitely spend a day at the Dry Tortugas (Susie can help you with both). Saw reviews for Susie and needed a last minute booking in Key West. Figured I'm on vacation so why…read morenot let someone else help me. Susie acted as though she got me a great deal on a hotel room and time was of the essence. According to her, it was half the price as normal. I agreed to the price and gave her my card info. Turns out, all she did was just take my card and book the room online (I could have easily done this). She never emailed me any confirmation info and just said "all set." Then texts me a screenshot where she used HER contact information for MY booking. When I asked if she could coordinate an early arrival she declined saying she doesn't contact the hotel for her guests? What a strange way to respond as a TRAVEL AGENT. I, myself, took the whopping 10 minutes to call and confirm the booking, and arrange an early arrival, with zero help from Susie. When I got to the hotel, it turns out it was actually $100 more than what Susie had quoted me!!! but by then obviously it's too late. Post vacation, I asked Susie yet again to email me confirmation of my stay so that I can use it for my records and now she has just stopped responding. Congrats, Susie, on taking a "well deserved commission" on my behalf. Steer clear of her services, save the headache and just book your own room online, that's all she does anyway.
