Fantastic value for the Key West area. Comfy beds, ice cold AC, and a roof top patio with hot tub and swimming pool. You also get a continental breakfast included. What would I improve? For starters, more seating in the breakfast area. With a full hotel, you might have to wait for a place to sit and scarf down your toast and Cheerios. Also, the pool is listed as "heated", and heated it is...it felt like a hot tub. When the temps outside are in the 80's and 90's, the pool water doesn't need heated at all. I went in briefly for a dip and ended up being drowsy because of the heat (and the booze I consumed earlier). I'd definitely stay here again. AirBnB places in the area are ridiculous in price (and a $200 cleaning fee?! Nope!). Skip the nonsense and come here instead. Little worried at first, our flight was delayed and had to get in after 6p. They had a special number to call so I wanted to let them know our time arriving. Was instructed to call the regular number and let them know. Upon doing so I talked with a less than friendly lady/rude. She told me to call the special number and ended call. When arriving we called the special number again and Natasha met us. She was the best. Very friendly and seemed to really be happy we arrived. Unfortunately we dealt with the other less than friendly lady the rest of the trip. Hotel is great and enjoyed the stay, just avoided the front desk. Pegasus Hotel is a landmark in Key West and will give you the best bang for your buck right in the middle of the action of Duval. Just remember you are on Duval here so it can be noisy at night but it didn't bother us. The room was clean and service was great. There is not any smoking areas so you have to go back outside on Southard or Duval even though there's an open deck. The pool was great! I recommend this place for a cheaper option right in walking distance of everything. read more

We arrived on a Monday at 3pm and our room wasn't ready yet due to a late check out but would be ready within an hour. We made decided to make the most of the time by exploring Key West in the truck with a map from the hotel. We found many of the places and landmarks we wanted to see and experiance. The woman from the front desk was calling us that our room was ready as we were pulling up to the front of the hotel. We were very happy with our room. It was an art deco scheme which is something we wouldn't have for ourselves but it was enjoyable for our stay. We walked into the 1st bedroom and had a step up into another bedroom. The L shaped room had another bedroom where the bathroom was located that you had to strip down into. The steps between rooms was the separation. The hotel is on the corner of Duval St and we only heard a slight bit of noise on 1 night and that was an emergency vehicle. We didn't receive room service during our stay but the desk was more then happy to supply fresh towels when needed. Every employee was extremely nice from the front desk woman at check in to the maids in the halls. Compared to other hotels and Airbnbs in the area this was a great bargain. It's not super fancy but it was clean with a free breakfast in a place were the average price for a meal for a family of 5 is $100. - for a walk up window. The beds were good and the bathroom was very nice. Definitely worth looking at if you want to spend money on adventures instead of a room you only sleep in. read more

Our 1st time to KeyWest overwhelmed with choosing a place to stay that didn't break the bank but clean & close to Duvall St. This place was great! Website does not do this place justice! It's only 26 rooms 3 story smaller building on the corner . Has a Havana Miami vibe. Older but taken care of, clean & customer service excellent. The night manager Natalie/Natalia was So friendly.... In perfect location regardless of what your wanting! Much quieter than what I was expecting with the very busy night life. Out of all the restaurants we ate in Key West, we found that the super tiny hole in the wall next door. Mr. Z's Pizza ended up being probably our favorite foods especially late night hunger ! It was open till 1am weekdays and 4am weekends and seemed to be a very busy place non stop! We would definitely stay here again! read more

We checked in at 4:30 and I knew from reading reviews that the drink coupons were only good until 5. What we didn't know was that the bar was only open 4-5. We got our free wine and in this case you definitely get what you pay for. We had the pool to ourselves for about an hour, so that was nice. The room was very tiny but very cute. Our room looked out on Duval so it was a little noisy late at night, but that is to be expected and didn't bother us. The location was fantastic, we could walk everywhere. I enjoyed the Elemis bath products. But Pegasus gets a 3 and not a 4 because the sheets sucked. They were cheap and pilled. You can't call your hotel "stylish and sophisticated " with those sheets. A comfy bed is the most important part of the visit and it was difficult to sleep on those sheets. read more

First time staying here about 3 weeks ago. I was searching online for a decently priced hotel in Key West and this was pretty reasonable about $325 (including tax) per night on a high spring break season. I've been to Key West numerous time and passed by this hotel so many times but never had thought of staying there. I normally prefer B&Bs and the facade of Pegasus is art deco but its smacked right on the center of the Duval strip. Can't beat the location and they also have a private car lot for just $10 bucks a day. We walked in the lobby and was really surprised that it was clean, fresh smelling & organized even though it was small. The reception lady was also polite and informative. Check in was a breeze. Arrived at 3pm & our room was ready: 1) 2 double beds w/ fresh linens. They were comfortable too. 2) Wood floors. Thank god cause I don't really like carpets in hotels. 3) Window A/C (no central). It works well but it maybe a bit noisy for some. 4) LCD TV, Coffee Maker, Micro & Fridge. Perfect for left overs and booze :) 5) Building has a rooftop pool w/ bar & lounge. Our room was next to it so we didn't have view of Duval. 6) Modern bathroom was tiny but had shower (no tub). This was the only downside cause it was really tight in there. We liked the built in soap, shower gel, shampoo pumps. Although the furnishings were somewhat dated, they were not banged up. Room was clean and had enough amenities for the guest. It was comfortable and satisfactory considering we were there for short time and didn't really plan to stay indoors. Again, the location was excellent, right on the strip. Almost forgot, there's a Walgreens and pretty good espresso / pizza joint in the same building. See my pics. read more

The hotel is nice but lacks for money you spend. Happy hour gives you 2 beers and 2 wines to choose from. Breakfast area is pretty tight. French toast is precooked, as are waffles. Coffee cups are a step up from shot glasses. We were a little disappointed. The staff was nice when we first got there but very rude as we were checking out. The woman was walking up and down the hall clanging on something saying "It's check out time!!" Then we got downstairs to check out, turn our keys in and, without even looking at us, kept saying "Have a nice day, have a nice day", like she just wanted us to leave....very rude woman. First off, I see no reason to go south of Marathon Key LOL. But I was here for a brief trip with friends and we stayed at the Pegasus. It wasn't the best hotel but it wasn't the worst. Parking is way down the street. The hotel smells kind of musty and the front desk clerk wasn't helpful. Its almost directly adjacent to Duvall which is a dump hole. This place is absolutely disgusting! They had no towels. They were very angry when we called and asked for towels in our room. There were none at the pool as well! The bed had stains on it. There was mold in the windowsills and caked up dust on the chandeliers. There was no hand sanitizers that were filled. They were all empty. The employees were not wearing masks! And the behavior by the owner was absolutely pompous. He was so angry he checked us out and called the police to try to get us trespassed in the Key West Police Department ultimately told him to stop wasting their time. Ok let's just start off with you pay for the location. I mean your right in the heart of Duval! Check in was very easy and friendly. Now as far as parking goes you do get a parking pass but you drive down the block to park (not bad as long as you don't have a ton of luggage). We had a queen size bed which was fairly comfy. Rooms aren't that large but again why do you need that if your in the heart of Key West! Our room was clean. It could have used a bit of updating but I'm not complaining. There is a pool and jacuzzi on the 2nd level. We were right by the door to the roof top pool so it made it rather interesting. Pool closes by 10 p.m. but there are those who didn't want to abide by the rules and wanted to act a fool. No worries though...the staff here have it under control. If your under 25 yrs of age plan on paying dearly as there were a few young folk complaining about that. Sure am glad I'm a tired old senior! LOL!! Going to Key West? Make sure to shack up at the Pegasus - RIGHT OFF DUVAL This place has the retro charm - but still has all the modern necessities - like a roof top pool with a bar. You are able to get cheap, reserved parking that is just around the corner so you never have to worry about that. The rooms are a little small - but when your crawling into your bed at 4AM that's the last of your concerns. Cons - Be aware - rooms are not ready until 3. Late check out is 12 and rooms are not ready. There is no baggage check area so if coming by Key West Express use paradise porters. We didn't know this and made the start of our vacation a little stressful! Elevator - while it went to all 3 floors there was a major "jump" where the elevator jerked horribly right before the 3rd floor. Towels - 1st day - 1 hand towel, 1 washcloth, and 2 bath towels. 2nd day - 2 bath towels only - no washcloth and no hand towels. When we tried to get more towels, we were told they couldn't give us anymore. (They ended up giving us one more). Bathroom tile is SLICK when wet. The lack of towels had me almost falling several times when walking with bare feet from the pool. Again due to no towels. Pool towels. - day 1 there was a few pool towels available. Day 2 - no pool towels available at 1 pm and NO staff could be found to get more. Overall - once you get in your room it was an adequate stay. Towels at the pool and an adequate amount in your room would have been nice. Just don't go past Pegasus, and run into all the pretty girls with big wild hair and short skirts at the 801 Burbon Bar. Expect Motel 6 quality except...worse. But it's just fine if you only require a place to sober up and try to shower in the morning. It's actually not bad if you stay buzzed. Seeing double makes the room bigger. To summarize, you are paying a big price to stay on Duval Street. I have stayed in several other places on Duval that are much nicer for about the same price. We have stayed here twice and each time it is a little better. The rooms are a bit outdated but they are slowly coming around. It is clean and that is all that matters to me. It's Key West, we're really just sleeping in the room! In the past we would stay out on Roosevelt to save money, but for a few bucks more being this close to everything is a no brainer. The pool and deck on the roof are a nice bonus and clean. Staff is great and very friendly. The cheap parking is a big bonus as well and it is less than a block away. This is our go to place for every trip and will continue to be. My only complaint, and I think others have mentioned it, is no shelf space in the bathroom. Great location on the corner of Southard and Duval. It's right next to Mr. Z's Pizza, so perfect for that 2 a.m. drunken munchie order of pizza and cheese fries. The rooms were clean, a little bit on the small side, but that's to be expected. The upstairs pool, hot tub and bar were great. We stayed here during Hemingway Days 2011 and proceeded to get tipsy before running the Sunset 5K. They also take reservations for one night, which is hard to find in Key West. Before we had got to the hotel we had tried to call to let them know we were on our way because they had told us that it didn't matter what time we showed up to check in as long as we called ahead but no one had answered. When we got to the hotel after a 5 hour drive the lady didn't know how to check us in and it took us and extra 45 min to get to our room (which to me was was not bad, but not worth the money). The next day the people at the front desk tried calling us saying that since we checked in late that we had to pay and extra 300$?!? And that was on top of a resort fee. Overall the service there killed the experience for my first time at the keys. Marina at the front desk gave me an immediate helpful warm welcome. I love the boat feel of the hotel. The pool is quaint and follows the small cruise boat theme with a sweet little bar and kind bartender. The rooms are basic and clean. We got a corner room with a nice view of the town. The provided toiletries include toothpaste! Rare. Pegasus is three seconds walking distance from Duval and The Cafe (my favorite restaurant) is right next door. Great location, right in the middle of all the action on key west. I had read all the reviews and the pros and cons and we decided to stay because it had an overall good rating. The positive aspects we saw while there three nights; There were quite a few updates to the rooms, including a very nice tiled shower in the bathroom which also included a half/full flush capable toilet (yay ecofriendliness ) It does offer very reasonable parking a half block from the hotel. In contrast to some of the other reviews, we found the staff friendly, although we had no major issues we needed to bring to their attention. The bartender who was at the poolside bar was quite sociable. Also we were up early enough one day to get coffee and pastries for breakfast, and the milk was not sour. It is far enough removed from the destination bars to be generally immune to the street noise. The not so positive aspects; Although the room and building has many fairly recent updates, its about 50% dated 50% updated still, the carpet and some other design choices are showing their age but are well taken care of, someone looking for a very modern accomodation will be somewhat let down. We also had our stay during spring break, and as such had a generally sociable but sometimes rowdy group of lodgers around us, so if youre staying during a party week, spring break, or fantasy fest, be willing to take the good with the bad. Overall a great stay and we would stay here again, and we definitely second, third and fourth the recommendation of grabbing a bite at Mr Z's next door, it is hard to find good pizza in florida in my experience, and theirs hit the spot as a pregaming meal. read more

2nd time staying here. Last year wasn't to bad, decent room and fairly clean. This year, dirty disgusting room and the people upstairs must have been dragging furniture around all night it was so loud. The location is prime, couldn't be better. But I had to tell the front desk to send someone to clean the shower, after I had already tried using it. The floor was covered in dirt and black sludge that was camouflaged by the colored tile. She didn't believe me so she grabbed tissues and asked me to show her. She wiped the tile and the tissues turned black! I said see!!!! This is 5 minutes after our room was cleaned, supposedly. She had them go back in and clean it, didn't seem any better. The toilet bowl had a ring of mold around the tank cover, so gross. The staff is rude, don't bother arguing anything, they don't care. Don't eat at Indian rooftop snack bar, it's nasty and just microwaved food. You are paying an arm and a leg to stay here for the holidays, but it's strictly for the location. Worst customer service I have experienced at a hotel or otherwise. Two friends and I booked the Pegasus hotel a month in advance. Since all three of us were under 25 (23 and 24), we did a lot of looking before deciding on a hotel. Many hotels had a no check-ins under 25 policy. Fortunately, our trip was outside the Pegasus Hotel's "Spring Break" period of "MARCH 1st to APRIL 18th" according to their website (which it still claims as of writing). Upon arrival, the front desk refused to check us in despite it being April 22nd. They then lied about their policy. After arguing for 20 minutes, despite showing them their own website, the front desk finally allowed us to check-in. The Pegasus hotel was NOT a great way to start a relaxing vacation. After check-in, they wanted a $300 deposit in cash! After how sketchy their treatment of "policy" was already, there was no way we were going to trust this hotel with cash. It is also mentioned on the their website that a credit card may be used for the deposit, which we were okay with. The following day, we talked with the manager. I explained this was no way to treat customers, but he claimed he can change the policy whenever he wants without notifying customers! The location is what you are paying for. The rooms are decent. But the down fall is the curfew on the pool and the $15 parking permit which is only good til 11am the next day. Paper thin walls can hear my neighbors conversation and their headboard rubbing against the walls as well as my own. But there was a decent amount of soap/lotion/shampoo/conditioner.
