Pegasus is all about what you're looking for This is not a 5 star hotel It is not the cleanest It does not have the best breakfast (But if you're eating a continental breakfast while in key west, you are missing out on good food! Walk to moon dog!) Pros: *LOCATION location location Right off duval - can't beat it but again it depends on what you're looking for (Duval = noise) *PARKING!!! Absolute pro When it comes to key west, parking is expensive and at times difficult to find For being off duval, having a designated parking lot a couple steps away with in and out privileges included in the price is rare and an extremely big bonus *Walgreens right next door for drinks, snacks and anything you forgot *fridge & microwave in room *coffee machine *ice bucket & ice machine *water cooler in hallway *room stocked - sounds silly but I appreciate it when there is plenty of tp, cups, et There were 3 rolls of tp, plenty of drink cups, plenty of coffee cups, and rolls of trash bags in both trash cans along with tissues and 2 pool towels *25 yrs old and up to check in We had room 201 facing duval Cons: - noise Even with our sound machine, music from Willie Ts could be heard It didn't bother us much but only because we had the sound machine to drown it out The room above us had the heaviest foot guests There was a loud boom with every step I would have definitely preferred to be on the top floor It was worse noisewise over the duval noise - incidental fee 300$ !?!? It was not mentioned when I booked Seems extreme to me - cleanliness Nothing to make us leave (bed and towels clean) but the bathroom shower wasn't fully cleaned (hair) & there was hair around bottom of toilet Empty water bottle under bed Stained decorative bed pillow that should just be tossed Stained (moldy?) terrace chairs that need to be replaced - tv = low resolution cable channels If you're a tv snob like me, this is a con Tips: Put the sign on your door for service or no service For a three night stay, we didn't need/want anyone to come in It was a bit surprising that they came in while we were out the first morning there Some people like that, we prefer to not have anyone in the room while we're gone As for art deco - do not expect to see that in the renovated rooms The only art deco aspect I saw was the exterior of the building read more

This place is the absolute worst place you could ever stay in Key West. The front desk is rude and unaccommodating. Every aspect of customer service should be rated as a zero star. In addition, the room was dirty and unmade. I only leave reviews in extreme cases, whether exceptionally good or exceptionally bad and this was exceptionally bad! read more

Fantastic value for the Key West area. Comfy beds, ice cold AC, and a roof top patio with hot tub and swimming pool. You also get a continental breakfast included. What would I improve? For starters, more seating in the breakfast area. With a full hotel, you might have to wait for a place to sit and scarf down your toast and Cheerios. Also, the pool is listed as "heated", and heated it is...it felt like a hot tub. When the temps outside are in the 80's and 90's, the pool water doesn't need heated at all. I went in briefly for a dip and ended up being drowsy because of the heat (and the booze I consumed earlier). I'd definitely stay here again. AirBnB places in the area are ridiculous in price (and a $200 cleaning fee?! Nope!). Skip the nonsense and come here instead. It's right on Duval street so you have instant access to cold snacks and good times (6 blocks to Sloppy Joes!!) read more

I liked to hotel. Good location, but you could not change to do not disturb sign on the door. The room was never cleaned. I spoke to the person that was cleaning rooms. I told her ours needed to be done. She did not understand me read more

We had a fantastic stay - four of us - two rooms - all enjoyed it! Amazing location - Walgreens next door for essentials Walking distance of great restaurants and Duval at your door Cuban coffee place across the street is amazing Parking was half block away - pass on windshield and you can come and go as you please Elevator but Lots of stairs so if that's an issue .. stairs out to pool for example Great hang out deck - can people watch over duval Did not have the breakfast but looked decent grab and go style Super clean rooms and great shower Wonderful staff This will be my go to spot when visiting read more

Little worried at first, our flight was delayed and had to get in after 6p. They had a special number to call so I wanted to let them know our time arriving. Was instructed to call the regular number and let them know. Upon doing so I talked with a less than friendly lady/rude. She told me to call the special number and ended call. When arriving we called the special number again and Natasha met us. She was the best. Very friendly and seemed to really be happy we arrived. Unfortunately we dealt with the other less than friendly lady the rest of the trip. Hotel is great and enjoyed the stay, just avoided the front desk. Would certainly recommend this hotel, you are right in the middle of everything. Thanks ! read more

Pegasus Hotel is a landmark in Key West and will give you the best bang for your buck right in the middle of the action of Duval. Just remember you are on Duval here so it can be noisy at night but it didn't bother us. The room was clean and service was great. There is not any smoking areas so you have to go back outside on Southard or Duval even though there's an open deck. The pool was great! I recommend this place for a cheaper option right in walking distance of everything. read more

We arrived on a Monday at 3pm and our room wasn't ready yet due to a late check out but would be ready within an hour. We made decided to make the most of the time by exploring Key West in the truck with a map from the hotel. We found many of the places and landmarks we wanted to see and experiance. The woman from the front desk was calling us that our room was ready as we were pulling up to the front of the hotel. We were very happy with our room. It was an art deco scheme which is something we wouldn't have for ourselves but it was enjoyable for our stay. We walked into the 1st bedroom and had a step up into another bedroom. The L shaped room had another bedroom where the bathroom was located that you had to strip down into. The steps between rooms was the separation. The hotel is on the corner of Duval St and we only heard a slight bit of noise on 1 night and that was an emergency vehicle. We didn't receive room service during our stay but the desk was more then happy to supply fresh towels when needed. Every employee was extremely nice from the front desk woman at check in to the maids in the halls. Compared to other hotels and Airbnbs in the area this was a great bargain. It's not super fancy but it was clean with a free breakfast in a place were the average price for a meal for a family of 5 is $100. - for a walk up window. The beds were good and the bathroom was very nice. Definitely worth looking at if you want to spend money on adventures instead of a room you only sleep in. read more

Our 1st time to KeyWest overwhelmed with choosing a place to stay that didn't break the bank but clean & close to Duvall St. This place was great! Website does not do this place justice! It's only 26 rooms 3 story smaller building on the corner . Has a Havana Miami vibe. Older but taken care of, clean & customer service excellent. The night manager Natalie/Natalia was So friendly.... In perfect location regardless of what your wanting! Much quieter than what I was expecting with the very busy night life. Out of all the restaurants we ate in Key West, we found that the super tiny hole in the wall next door. Mr. Z's Pizza ended up being probably our favorite foods especially late night hunger ! It was open till 1am weekdays and 4am weekends and seemed to be a very busy place non stop! We would definitely stay here again! read more

We checked in at 4:30 and I knew from reading reviews that the drink coupons were only good until 5. What we didn't know was that the bar was only open 4-5. We got our free wine and in this case you definitely get what you pay for. We had the pool to ourselves for about an hour, so that was nice. The room was very tiny but very cute. Our room looked out on Duval so it was a little noisy late at night, but that is to be expected and didn't bother us. The location was fantastic, we could walk everywhere. I enjoyed the Elemis bath products. But Pegasus gets a 3 and not a 4 because the sheets sucked. They were cheap and pilled. You can't call your hotel "stylish and sophisticated " with those sheets. A comfy bed is the most important part of the visit and it was difficult to sleep on those sheets. read more

First time staying here about 3 weeks ago. I was searching online for a decently priced hotel in Key West and this was pretty reasonable about $325 (including tax) per night on a high spring break season. I've been to Key West numerous time and passed by this hotel so many times but never had thought of staying there. I normally prefer B&Bs and the facade of Pegasus is art deco but its smacked right on the center of the Duval strip. Can't beat the location and they also have a private car lot for just $10 bucks a day. We walked in the lobby and was really surprised that it was clean, fresh smelling & organized even though it was small. The reception lady was also polite and informative. Check in was a breeze. Arrived at 3pm & our room was ready: 1) 2 double beds w/ fresh linens. They were comfortable too. 2) Wood floors. Thank god cause I don't really like carpets in hotels. 3) Window A/C (no central). It works well but it maybe a bit noisy for some. 4) LCD TV, Coffee Maker, Micro & Fridge. Perfect for left overs and booze :) 5) Building has a rooftop pool w/ bar & lounge. Our room was next to it so we didn't have view of Duval. 6) Modern bathroom was tiny but had shower (no tub). This was the only downside cause it was really tight in there. We liked the built in soap, shower gel, shampoo pumps. Although the furnishings were somewhat dated, they were not banged up. Room was clean and had enough amenities for the guest. It was comfortable and satisfactory considering we were there for short time and didn't really plan to stay indoors. Again, the location was excellent, right on the strip. Almost forgot, there's a Walgreens and pretty good espresso / pizza joint in the same building. See my pics. read more

The hotel is nice but lacks for money you spend. Happy hour gives you 2 beers and 2 wines to choose from. Breakfast area is pretty tight. French toast is precooked, as are waffles. Coffee cups are a step up from shot glasses. We were a little disappointed. The staff was nice when we first got there but very rude as we were checking out. The woman was walking up and down the hall clanging on something saying "It's check out time!!" Then we got downstairs to check out, turn our keys in and, without even looking at us, kept saying "Have a nice day, have a nice day", like she just wanted us to leave....very rude woman. I would not come back there. There are better values around. read more

First off, I see no reason to go south of Marathon Key LOL. But I was here for a brief trip with friends and we stayed at the Pegasus. It wasn't the best hotel but it wasn't the worst. Parking is way down the street. The hotel smells kind of musty and the front desk clerk wasn't helpful. Its almost directly adjacent to Duvall which is a dump hole. Smells of stale liquor, sweat, weed, and hobos. I wouldn't recommend. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! They had no towels. They were very angry when we called and asked for towels in our room. There were none at the pool as well! The bed had stains on it. There was mold in the windowsills and caked up dust on the chandeliers. There was no hand sanitizers that were filled. They were all empty. The employees were not wearing masks! And the behavior by the owner was absolutely pompous. He was so angry he checked us out and called the police to try to get us trespassed in the Key West Police Department ultimately told him to stop wasting their time. The guys behavior is absolutely unethical. We filed a complaint with Tallahassee health department. read more

Ok let's just start off with you pay for the location. I mean your right in the heart of Duval! Check in was very easy and friendly. Now as far as parking goes you do get a parking pass but you drive down the block to park (not bad as long as you don't have a ton of luggage). We had a queen size bed which was fairly comfy. Rooms aren't that large but again why do you need that if your in the heart of Key West! Our room was clean. It could have used a bit of updating but I'm not complaining. There is a pool and jacuzzi on the 2nd level. We were right by the door to the roof top pool so it made it rather interesting. Pool closes by 10 p.m. but there are those who didn't want to abide by the rules and wanted to act a fool. No worries though...the staff here have it under control. If your under 25 yrs of age plan on paying dearly as there were a few young folk complaining about that. Sure am glad I'm a tired old senior! LOL!! Complimentary breakfast in the lobby til 9 a.m. Check out by 11 a.m. It was a nice little getaway and I would stay here again. read more

Going to Key West? Make sure to shack up at the Pegasus - RIGHT OFF DUVAL This place has the retro charm - but still has all the modern necessities - like a roof top pool with a bar. You are able to get cheap, reserved parking that is just around the corner so you never have to worry about that. The rooms are a little small - but when your crawling into your bed at 4AM that's the last of your concerns. The rooms are pretty affordable considering they are right on Duval in the center of everything. In Key West you really can't do much better than the Pegasus. read more

Positives: Right on Duval St where all the bars are. Extremely short walk to all the bars. Complimentary breakfast (waffles, bagels, cereal, etc.) Cheap. Quiet. Negatives: Check-in time takes a while. Parking is an additional $15 a night. Small rooms and the bathrooms are even tinier than I ever expected. The sink was dirty when I went in. But the worst part? BED BUGS. I woke up to at least 6 bites. My mom and sister woke up to some, too. Not only that, when I brought my things to my car, there were bed bugs all over my sisters throw blanket. I'm officially disgusted by this place and will not come back. This place is cheap, but I definitely paid the price for "cheap" with all these bites. read more

Located off of Duval which means it is a loud location and that is to be expected. The room was small, but when visiting Key West, you shouldn't expect a mansion to yourself. The rooms were clean. Beds and pillows were reasonably comfortable. Pool was clean. Would stay here again. read more

You're paying for location, it's walking distance to major attractions in Key West, rooms are clean but small elevator fits 4, and narrow stairs. The shower head in our room comes off. If you like eating breakfast, expect a lousy one. Not impressed. read more

After doing a bit of research on Yelp AND Tripadvisor we decided on Pegasus as our home base while we relive our college spring break days! JK PROs -Right ON Duval St. If you're not familiar, Duval St. is basically the Bourbon St. of Key West. It's where the "action" is. -Reasonably priced -Friendly staff -Continental breakfast is included if you can get up before 9am. -Air condition that actually works -Rooftop pool area with a bar -Not strict with you bringing your own drinks at the pool area -Mr. Z's Pizza RIGHT NEXT DOOR and open til 4AM -Microwave and a fridge in every room -Flat screen TVs -FREE Wi-fi CONs -Right ON Duval St. If you're a light sleeper or planning on sleeping before 3am, you're out of luck. -Rooms are a little outdated -Only one ice machine in the first floor -Only ONE ironing station in the back stairwell Overall Pegasus was a perfect fit for what we were looking for! read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! You will get BED BUGS!!! Place is WAY over charged for what you get, which is pretty much nothing! The customer service was also bad. Rarely ever answered their phone and when I called their manager to report they have bed bugs, I had to leave him a message and he never called me back! They charged me $440 for 1 night and all I got was bed bug bites! read more

Pros: Location - corner of duval and southard Price - reasonable $425 - 2 nights with taxes no parking. Pool - small, heated Parking lot - offsite and as of 7/2017 $20 for pkg per day (didn't have a car saw the lot sign while walking around) Welcome drink - draft beer, nice start. Breakfast - minimal / limited I didn't eat. Husband had a hard boiled egg. Room - space was nice - queen bed, corner room (301) on duval side. Hardwood floors. Had no trouble sleeping - just shut blinds and curtains. Again - July. Microwave and refrigerator in room Walgreens next door Great coffee place next door on Southard- keys coffee. Cons - Be aware - rooms are not ready until 3. Late check out is 12 and rooms are not ready. There is no baggage check area so if coming by Key West Express use paradise porters. We didn't know this and made the start of our vacation a little stressful! Elevator - while it went to all 3 floors there was a major "jump" where the elevator jerked horribly right before the 3rd floor. Towels - 1st day - 1 hand towel, 1 washcloth, and 2 bath towels. 2nd day - 2 bath towels only - no washcloth and no hand towels. When we tried to get more towels, we were told they couldn't give us anymore. (They ended up giving us one more). Bathroom tile is SLICK when wet. The lack of towels had me almost falling several times when walking with bare feet from the pool. Again due to no towels. Pool towels. - day 1 there was a few pool towels available. Day 2 - no pool towels available at 1 pm and NO staff could be found to get more. Overall - once you get in your room it was an adequate stay. Towels at the pool and an adequate amount in your room would have been nice. We more than likely won't stay here again, but if you are looking for a quick and easy jump to Duval street you might enjoy. read more

We have stayed here twice and each time it is a little better. The rooms are a bit outdated but they are slowly coming around. It is clean and that is all that matters to me. It's Key West, we're really just sleeping in the room! In the past we would stay out on Roosevelt to save money, but for a few bucks more being this close to everything is a no brainer. The pool and deck on the roof are a nice bonus and clean. Staff is great and very friendly. The cheap parking is a big bonus as well and it is less than a block away. This is our go to place for every trip and will continue to be. My only complaint, and I think others have mentioned it, is no shelf space in the bathroom. It would seem like a very quick and cheap thing to add to each room. read more

Great location on the corner of Southard and Duval. It's right next to Mr. Z's Pizza, so perfect for that 2 a.m. drunken munchie order of pizza and cheese fries. The rooms were clean, a little bit on the small side, but that's to be expected. The upstairs pool, hot tub and bar were great. We stayed here during Hemingway Days 2011 and proceeded to get tipsy before running the Sunset 5K. They also take reservations for one night, which is hard to find in Key West. We'll possibly be staying here again for Hemingway Days 2012. read more

If it's around 4am and you are leaving Sloppy Joes trying to find Pegasus Hotel and you have had too many $4 margarita fountain drinks in the plastic cup, you are comatose or at the very best in a stupor, then Pegasus Hotel is probably perfect for you! Just don't go past Pegasus, and run into all the pretty girls with big wild hair and short skirts at the 801 Burbon Bar. Expect Motel 6 quality except...worse. But it's just fine if you only require a place to sober up and try to shower in the morning. It's actually not bad if you stay buzzed. Seeing double makes the room bigger. To summarize, you are paying a big price to stay on Duval Street. I have stayed in several other places on Duval that are much nicer for about the same price. As a matter of fact, if you don't mind walking and staying on the south end of Duval Street, the Southernmost Point Guest House is very nice for the price. Of course if you are inebriated don't attempt the walk from Sloppy Joes. Don't confuse it with all the other places with similar names. http://www.southernmostpoint.com/ read more

Pool on the roof? Awesome! Location just off Duval? Awesome! Parking included? Awesome! But the pool was not heated, as advertised. There were only pool towels one day and they are threadbare and tiny. Actually all of the towels in the hotel were like this. Pool bar open one hour a day and a surly man poured my free drink - a half a plastic cup of Chardonnay. Breakfast is a joke. A hard boiled egg or a piece of toast. Hmm. Don't have these amenities if you're not going to have them! The bathroom was always wet because the shower had no curtain and only half glass. I wanted to like it more but it has issues. Price is based on location, not luxury of any kind. read more

Cheap and effective. Key Takeaways: Location and Parking: Right on the corner of Southard and Duval with lot parking ($10 dollars a day, good in Key West) a block away. Overall Amenities: This hotel is clean, has a pool, deck and bar. While shampoo is not provided, toothpaste is. The rooms are of an adequate size. Pricing: Perfectly reasonable pricing. Other hotels in the area can go for double the price of the Pegasus (the La Concha for example) and if value is your goal this hotel will fit the bill. read more

This will be a small review. Stay at the Pegasus if you want to save a buck and still be right in the middle of the action. Don't stay here if you think you'll be spending much time recouping in your hotel room or want to get a real Key West feel in your room. It is what it is. It's clean, but the help could give a crap about you. It's great location, but your room is a bit like a 3 hour no-tell motel. Right next to a Walgreens which is nice and right next door to Mr. Z's pizza for a light night drunken snack. read more

Just went to check into my room and to my COMPLETE surprise we were unable to due to the strict age rules UNLISTED on their website. You have to be DIRECTLY related to the person who is checking in if you under 25. YOU CANT STAY HERE IF YOUR UNDER 21 & YOUR GUARDIAN IS NOT PRESENT. Completely ridiculous!! I am 24 years old and I've never been so embarrassed, being told I am unable to stay at a hotel that I previously purchased prior to my stay. The women behind the desk was VERY rude and VERY short with us. Do not stay here, pictures do not even resemble the location. read more

Before we had got to the hotel we had tried to call to let them know we were on our way because they had told us that it didn't matter what time we showed up to check in as long as we called ahead but no one had answered. When we got to the hotel after a 5 hour drive the lady didn't know how to check us in and it took us and extra 45 min to get to our room (which to me was was not bad, but not worth the money). The next day the people at the front desk tried calling us saying that since we checked in late that we had to pay and extra 300$?!? And that was on top of a resort fee. Overall the service there killed the experience for my first time at the keys. People at the front desk were rude or didn't know what they were doing and it made us not wanna leave the room. read more

Pro: Location, relatively clean, decent price Cons: Odd smells in the lobby, no towels were ever available at the pool, towels for the room were at a premium (We paid for six people, but housekeeping only wanted to give us enough for three), pool bar was only open for an hour a day (so it was impossible to use our drink tickets), floor on the 2nd floor was uneven and a possible hazard, and no locked area to store luggage at check-in/out read more

Great location, right in the middle of all the action on key west. I had read all the reviews and the pros and cons and we decided to stay because it had an overall good rating. The positive aspects we saw while there three nights; There were quite a few updates to the rooms, including a very nice tiled shower in the bathroom which also included a half/full flush capable toilet (yay ecofriendliness ) It does offer very reasonable parking a half block from the hotel. In contrast to some of the other reviews, we found the staff friendly, although we had no major issues we needed to bring to their attention. The bartender who was at the poolside bar was quite sociable. Also we were up early enough one day to get coffee and pastries for breakfast, and the milk was not sour. It is far enough removed from the destination bars to be generally immune to the street noise. The not so positive aspects; Although the room and building has many fairly recent updates, its about 50% dated 50% updated still, the carpet and some other design choices are showing their age but are well taken care of, someone looking for a very modern accomodation will be somewhat let down. We also had our stay during spring break, and as such had a generally sociable but sometimes rowdy group of lodgers around us, so if youre staying during a party week, spring break, or fantasy fest, be willing to take the good with the bad. Overall a great stay and we would stay here again, and we definitely second, third and fourth the recommendation of grabbing a bite at Mr Z's next door, it is hard to find good pizza in florida in my experience, and theirs hit the spot as a pregaming meal. read more

Don't book here. I booked a room two weeks in advance, and my girlfriend got into an accident a week later. I cancelled my room a week in advance and thought that was the end of it. Noooo, they charged my credit card for one nights stay $217. That is against the law, as you have to get the service or product before you can charge somebody a fee. I did not receive anything from them, but they think they can charge it anyway. Big rip-off here. Beware!! Not over yet. read more

Marina at the front desk gave me an immediate helpful warm welcome. I love the boat feel of the hotel. The pool is quaint and follows the small cruise boat theme with a sweet little bar and kind bartender. The rooms are basic and clean. We got a corner room with a nice view of the town. The provided toiletries include toothpaste! Rare. Pegasus is three seconds walking distance from Duval and The Cafe (my favorite restaurant) is right next door. I will absolutely stay at Pegasus again. We actually extended out stay by a day we enjoyed it so much. read more

2nd time staying here. Last year wasn't to bad, decent room and fairly clean. This year, dirty disgusting room and the people upstairs must have been dragging furniture around all night it was so loud. The location is prime, couldn't be better. But I had to tell the front desk to send someone to clean the shower, after I had already tried using it. The floor was covered in dirt and black sludge that was camouflaged by the colored tile. She didn't believe me so she grabbed tissues and asked me to show her. She wiped the tile and the tissues turned black! I said see!!!! This is 5 minutes after our room was cleaned, supposedly. She had them go back in and clean it, didn't seem any better. The toilet bowl had a ring of mold around the tank cover, so gross. The staff is rude, don't bother arguing anything, they don't care. Don't eat at Indian rooftop snack bar, it's nasty and just microwaved food. You are paying an arm and a leg to stay here for the holidays, but it's strictly for the location. They clearly don't use the money for upkeep or cleaning. Last time staying here. 2 stars for location, that's it. read more

Paid a good amount of money and wasn't even afforded a working AC unit. It was miserable trying to sleep through the night here.

Don't book here if you don't want to be scammed. Booked here with three other people who are under 25 and online it said only one person needed to be over 25 to check in. Come to find out, there needs to be someone over 25 (related or legal guardian) for each person. (Which was clearly not stated during booking.) Hotel clerk was very rude and unprofessional. First of all we booked our reservation one year in advance for 2 rooms together and when they checked us in we were not even near each other and one of the rooms was outside by the pool which was extremely loud. Second, they gave us drink vouchers and said we could each have a drink each day, well..... They forgot to mention that you can only get your drink between 5-6 - we got to the bar at 6:03 and they refused to honor the tickets. I give them a -100 for their lack-of hospitality and stoic reaction. They also forgot the per day parking fee. Don't stay here as there are much better options in beautiful key west read more
