Beware of bugs in every bed! I'm not even a customer that typically writes reviews, especially complaints. However, if I could give zero stars I would, this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I was a returning customer to this facility, but never again. We visited last July (same time of year) & everything was great. Upon our return we could not have had a worse experience. This hotel should be ashamed of the staff that they employ. Rude, dismissive and unhelpful. Being a tourist destination, hospitality should be the bare minimum and this place is a poor excuse. The staff hides in the back office instead of addressing the problems at hand. All employees also divert to Michael who was apparently management, but not available after multiple attempts of visiting the front desk. At our arrival there were bugs present in every bed. When I went to the office to report the bugs I was told these conditions are normal for Florida and there is nothing they could do except for send housekeeping in and "spray" the next day. I was told that infestations happen and maybe it won't happen the next day... but there was no way for them to know. I was laughed at when confirmed by staff that their cleaning and spraying wouldn't fix the problem. The staff even stated that this is a common occurrence for their property and that nothing would be done. I was offered a $45 refund for "daily amenity fee" from their management- Michael. What a joke, we got the amenity of free bugs in our bed. When housekeeping was sent in, sheets were changed, but there were multiple bugs still present. When I addressed the problem again I was dismissed by the office staff, who proceeded to leave the front desk and sit in the back office unless he saw other customers enter on the camera. I've stayed here 3 times without any major issues the first two times. In April 2025 as you can see in the video attached I had water or sewage leaking onto my bed from above. That's how I was woken up to drips both on my bed and pillow. As well as a drips onto the room floor. When I checked out A employee was nice enough to give me a managers extension number. Once they heard what happened and nothing done to accommodate my troubles. I recently called the manager Mike Nicholas and instead of offering a discount on a next stay he insisted on knowing which employee gave me his extension. "So they can talk to him because that's not our policy". Very bad management. read more

I don't know if we just ended up in the best room/bungalow or not but it was super easy to get to our room. It was very clean and the bed was VERY large and comfy. We had a little kitchenette and a normal bathroom. The A/C worked too perfectly that we had to turn it down since we were so cold. Loved the little lockers in the room as the shelves were super helpful to lay everything out and the bar to hang clothes on was helpful too. Our bathroom was quite clean and our room seemed quite new. We had a fantastic time and would easily stay here again. Great amenities as well! I would leave 2.5 stars if that were possible, but it's not, and this experience was closer to a 2 than a 3. We had a "private room" that was basically a converted attic on the third floor of the third building. The staircase was so narrow that I'm amazed we got our suitcases up to the room. I didn't bother to take photos, but the room was pretty dumpy - cracked tiles and soap scum all over the shower door. You had to let the shower run for 10+ minutes to get the water remotely hot. The toilet paper was so cheapo, it was painful to use. On the other hand, the air conditioner in our room worked great - which was much appreciated after climbing up to that attic and sweating in the hot, smelly building. The pool area is nice, but one of the pools was closed during our entire stay because it was only half full. It must have a crack or something? One of the employees at the front desk is rather rude, acting as if you're bothering him when he's just doing his job. The others were okay, though. On our last day, the ceiling began leaking all over the stairs and second floor. We notified the front desk. When we returned, the "fix" was a caution cone and piles of towels on the floor. In short - if all you want is a "cheap" place to sleep in Key Westx, NYAH will suffice. If you want something remotely nice, look elsewhere. read more

The good: Price point was decent. Staff was friendly. Pool was nice. The bad: No parking at all not even handicapped. Getting to the room was a nightmare with 2 very steep and tall staircases. Room was a converted attic. Had to literally crawl under the roof to get into bed. (See photos) Pool deck was poorly maintained. Hot tub had one working jet. 1 TV in the room and in the master bedroom. If you wanted to watch tv, it had to be done from the bed. With the room offering 4 adult accommodations, I expected more. Breakfast consisted of cold hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, Little Debbie style sweet rolls, muffins, coffee, water, and apple & orange juices. We left and went out for breakfast. Area: 1.2 miles fro Duval (main attractions) and a $15 one way Uber trip. All in all, if you're looking for an affordable place to sleep, it's a good value place. TERMITE INFESTATION!! I get there might be a few termites in an old wooden building but we had hundreds! They got into our luggage, our shopping bags, all over the floor by the window. It was disgusting! When we told the front desk the employee said there was a lady last week freaking out about the same thing. Why wouldn't they at least give us luggage racks to put our suitcases on so we didn't have to put them on the floor if they KNEW they had a problem?! Definitely "Not Your Average Hotel." This might be the worst hotel ever. Let me list all of the things that were wrong with the room I stayed in. 1.) Huge unbalanced bump in the floor (Looks like they're trying to make this hotel a cash cow and are building things completely wrong) Sadly I couldn't get a picture of this 2.) This is my third time staying at the Niyha, fishing trips and family vacations in the past. We stayed there this time it was filled with some questionable characters. The front desk was awful, unmotivated and depressing. The rooms were clean, but broken down the window had a hole in it with stuff with the tissue. There was holes in them all pasted over. There was missing shower parts, the floors were dirty. The best part of the night is the bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast was fine. NYAH is just that-- not your average hotel. There were a lot of aspects I loved and a few things I didn't. NYAH is set up like a bunch of little houses put together and they all have their own rooms with card entry. It's half "hotel", half hostel. It's great for solo travelers because you can share rooms with other solo travelers and safe money. In general, it was one of the cheaper options for hotels in that area. Honestly, it was a really cute set up. Rooms all look different in shape, but they all a locker per person and bunk beds. It's very basic-- TV, plain beds, no decorations or anything but it was simple and sweet. You aren't going to spend your whole time in there anyway! You are provided towels, soaps and bedding. You can share rooms with others or get a private room. Rooms, like stated, are kinda everywhere and anywhere. Cons: 1. When we arrived a NYAH, we were put in a room that was literally in the lobby. Why they have this room is beyond me. It's the first door you see as you enter NYAH. It's "convenient" but loud and seems like you have no privacy. The front porch light shines through. One of the light fixtures were broken. It was honestly a bad room. Looking at reviews it seems like some rooms are better than others (including a lot of stairs which is hard if you have a lot of bags). But, they fixed our issue with the room. 2. There's only on call security it seems. It's Key West so we arrived back late a lot. No one was at the front desk including security. Our first day we arrived late due to delayed flights and we called to update them twice. They had security check us in but he told us he was at many locations and we will be there soon. So really, no security. The front door was always open regardless of time, even though there was a sign saying it would be locked and to use your key card to enter. Pros 1. Room situation. Thank you so much to the hotel staff (I believe her name was Raquel? She gave me her card and lost it). She helped us find a new room. It was an issue at first but she called the hotel manager for us and understood our concern about the room. She moved us to a 6-person room! It was quiet and perfect. She said there was very limited two person rooms so please keep this in mind when booking. 2. They have a bar! It's tiny and at the front desk but it honestly wasn't too expensive for Key West. 3. They have 3 pools (one heated) and a hot tub. It was nice!! There's a ton of greenery so just expect some leaves. That's another thing I loved is all of the greenery. It's gorgeous (i wish I took more pictures-- i added one that kinda shows it). 4. The location was PRIME. Everything we wanted to do was anywhere from 5-15min walk. They also offer bikes ($15 for the day or $20 for 2 Days) and we biked to the beaches. It was great location to Duval St. 5. It's modern/updated. It's honestly a good location for the younger crowds. A lot of bachelor and bachelorette parties. 6. They offer discounted Fury trips through their website. We did a glass bottom boat tour (seemed a bit kid-oriented but it was fun! They have a ton of other options too). Overall, I liked this location! I had no issues with staff and the second room was great. I'm only hesitant to book as a 2 person private room due to limited rooms and we could be stuck with that one lobby room. read more

First trip to Key West! Price - Weekday rates in May were about $500 including fees and over $1000 per night in weekends. Our room was around 200 square feet if that, included a Murphy bed, 2 sinks and a shower (very low water pressure), that's it. A little pricy for the accommodations. Amenities - Property came with 2 pools, one was heated. They offered cocktails from the registration desk for a fee and had a Starbucks coffee maker in the lobby which was nice in the morning. They also offered bike rentals for a reasonable fee. The modest accommodations made it difficult to justify the price. We moved to another hotel after the 2nd night. read more

We travel quite a bit. Stayed in many rooms. This was one of the worst I've ever seen. We were given room 331. 4 flights of steps which were in poor shape ( no elevator ) we arrived to our attic room. The balcony has pieces of scrap wood thrown on it - no access- The bathroom sink leaked which flooded out the bathroom -the front desk was notified -there was also water leaking into one of the bedrooms - again not one care was given by management- . Because the room was in the attic , the mirror in the bathroom was all on a slant - so you had to bend backwards to see your face in the mirror. Master king bed was placed on a queen box spring . We slid off the bed when we sat at the end of the bed . Second bed was crammed into what appeared to be a closet . Impossible to stand up. So many issues and the staff was borderline rude . We needed towels for showers . The response "well aren't you checking out today ?" Does that mean we aren't allowed to shower ? 1 tv in one bedroom. Rusty micro fridge . A sad table with 2 very old chairs . Zero dressers or hooks - no closets-no storage . The bathroom door had to be slammed to shut correctly . Zero amenities in the room. The floors were slanted and bubbled. I could go on but you get the picture . We paid 750 per nite for this nightmare . I give it one star as that's the lowest i could go . This hostel is by far THE BEST HOSTEL I ever stayed at, and I've been to so many hostels before! Milli and Rachel in the lobby are so friendly, helpful and made my stay very easy and smooth. They have nice breakfast included, 3 different pools and a hot tub available. They have bathroom and a little living room with TV and a mini refrigerator available in the bedroom! I moved from Seashell hostel to NYAH two days into my trip to KW, and I was happy I did. The female dorm had four beds and a couch, with nice key card operated lockers. They provide bathroom towels and pool towels, and keep you stocked with shampoo and conditioner and soap. They serviced the room daily, which was necessary. The bed was very comfortable, but I got a top bunk and I found it difficult to climb up the way the ladder was attached. It would be difficult if you have any mobility issues (or get drunk lol). Bathrooms were clean despite being shared with the four people in the room and my roommates were friendly and respectful. There are multiple pools and a lot of people hang out and socialize together with some beers. The people at the reception are pleasant and the basic breakfast was an added bonus. There's just stuff like pastries and hard boiled eggs and cheese sticks, but it's nice after a way-too-long night on Duvall. I'd stay here if I was budget traveling again. read more

This is a really different hotel, as the name implies, but if you have a sense of adventure and can understand the concept, you're going to love this place. The rooms are fun, clever, cool and hip. They are clean, modern and the beds are comfortable. The grounds are very nice: serene and natural. The staff is friendly and helpful; they seem happy to have the guests there. It's a totally relaxed and different vibe from any other hotel I've ever been to and the room designs will totally crack you up if you can appreciate the thought and effort that went into their design. Breakfast was included and was delicious as well as nutritious. The hotel is also in a great location, close to the water and to Duval Street. Only 1 negative that is probably in every other Yelp review: no parking anywhere. You are completely at the mercy of the parking Fates, which is to say, you're completely screwed. I stayed here with two of my friends in a private room and we definitely had an okay time at NYAH. For starters, the lobby is nice and clean, has a bar with a Starbucks machine, and always has someone at the lobby ready to answer questions. During the afternoon they serve snacks and have drink specials for happy hour, and in the morning they offer a continental breakfast of cereal, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, and toast/bagels. There are also always beach towels for use at the pool, and you're able to book excursions and rent bikes as well. My friends and I rented bikes for two days while we were there and loved them. It helped us get around, came with a lock to lock them up, and we were given some flexibility when it came to the return time since we thought we would be running late. The outside is also beautiful. Well manicured, three pools (one heated), hot tub, porch with seating for eating, and of course roosters. Our room was just off the pool which was so nice. We enjoyed lounging around and cooling off, and also didn't have any problems with noise of others in the area when we were in the room. The only downside was the actual rooms themselves. We did like that there were bunk beds, and individual lockers. We also had a bathroom with two sinks which was nice for us to split up at. The rooms however were a bit dingy. There was something on my comforter, and some dirt smudges above my head on the bunk bed. There were some updates needed throughout the room but nothing that really stood out. On the positive side though the beds were super comfortable and we had everything we needed in terms of bedding and towels. The only thing I really wish they had was a drying rack for swimsuits. There really wasn't a good place to hang things up, and even when they were hung up in the shower they never dried. Overall we had a pleasant experience here, and given the cheaper price of the space, would probably stay here again. I would just say we're glad we spent so much time out of the room! read more

This property stole my things, left my locker locked, the hotel broke in, went through all my things, left what they did not take or "throw away" and left my locker "organized" and unlocked when they left. I had paid for 2 nights. I asked to leave and not stay after the violation. The entire staff acknowledged the situation was terrible. They gave my money for the night I did not stay and called it a 50% refund. For the night that I wasn't there. Never stay here if you value privacy or your things. I stayed here three nights and despite complaining on day 2 that our room had not been cleaned (and receiving a very nice call from the manager), our room was still not cleaned the following day. In fact, I checked out without ever receiving maid service at all. I stayed 3 nights! as for the cleanliness of the rooms, I will let these pictures tell the story better than I can. There were no hooks in the rusty bathroom that needed a little paint at minimum. Since there was nowhere to hang our towels except on the rusty shower rod after we used them, the towels had these huge brown rust stains on them. Gross, right? It made an incredible weekend away with friends annoying and more so that we paid over $400 a night to stay at this dump. The "Happy hour" from 4:20PM - 5:20PM is a joke. It just means $1 off the booze they sell you whereas the other places our friends stayed offered free booze during their happy hour and had a much more lavish breakfast for far less $$ per night. NYAH = Not Your Average Hotel The name does it justice and does spell everything bluntly for you. It is located very close to the bars, clubs, shops and northern marina. It is about a 10 minute walk from all the action, which is one of the reasons I booked this hotel. Another reason for me picking this place was because I searched for a hotel with "parking". It was my first time in key west so I didn't know what to expect. I learned that their "parking" was for any marked spot in the street that didn't have a "resident" reserve sign painted onto the ground. So essentially if you're looking for parking you either have to drive around the area looking for one or the hotel can point you into the direction of the closest parking garage that you will have to pay. My group arrived at this cozy location and checked in at the front desk which also has a bar by a friendly front desk staff. When we got to our room there was water on the floor from the refrigerator's freezer leaking. We told the front desk staff that we would need a fridge as we brought food with us, but we're informed there are no other rooms available but they can check with the manager tomorrow morning regarding being able to get moved. It wasn't until we told them that we would unfortunately have to cancel our future reservations because of our need for a fridge did they actually start to look for a replacement to for us. We got a new room with a working fridge and a toilet that worked below par. The tank needed extra time to fill with water so you would have to wait about 5 minutes before your next flush. So having a room with people to share 1 toilet made it difficult. Fortunately there are restrooms around the hotel so some people needed to leave the room to use the toilet. There were also places on the wall where hooks used to be but were ripped from the walls and the maintenance had yet to repair or replace them. Air conditioning was amazing. Each room also came with a cabinet where each guest can store their belongings and had towels and toiletries provided The complimentary breakfast is what you pay for so no complaints there. Juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries, and cereal. Don't leave your plate unattended as some of the chickens might hop onto your table and take a bite while you aren't looking. There is a complimentary Starbucks coffee machine in the lobby that is ready 24/7 for coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Would I go back? Possibly. Would I look at other hotels. Absolutely. Was it worth the price? Undoubtedly. Am writing this review after one night's stay. The reception was very welcoming. Mr. Anthony took excellent care of a little snafu between Booking.com and the hotel. The room 214 turns out to be a private room with 4 bunk beds, squeaky clean, quiet, plenty of storage space, the AC is cold, and the water in the shower is hot. Amenities and wonderful towels. The bed is very comfortable and has clean and nice quality linens. The ambience at the pool is delightful: pleasant music, beautiful lighting, and wonderful architecture. Overall the staff is nice, price is good, location close to Duval street, however I came here on spring break with 5 other friends where we all shared a room. 4 bunk beds and one king size bed. There was only one sink and one mirror for all of us and it wasn't even full length. No tables, staff didn't come by to switch sheets/ clean/ give new towels/ garbage bag etc... and the room was pretty small for 6 people to stay in anyways. The first day our shower water was freezing and we had to call the front desk and it gradually got warmer as the week went on. The pools are okay nothing special, nice jacuzzi and pool deck area. Pictures on the website are much nicer than what you really see but our room didn't have any other major problems other than water, no space, and not enough mirrors. The lockers are nice and lock but if you stay with random people I do not know how secure it would be since the cards you use to get into your room also locks and unlocks the lockers. Overall this place is nice if you want to book a cheap last minute trip with a lot of guests, which is basically what we did since our planned hotels price increased once people weren't able to attend anymore. read more

The WORST customer service! Don't waste your time with these scammers. One big hostel that doesn't honor private room reservations bookings as they advertise on their site. They will stick you in any 'available bed' regardless of what you actually booked. Then state the property is full and there's nothing they can do about it. I booked a 4 night stay in a private 1 twin bunk & bath through hotels.com. Had proof of room booking confirmation with details. Checked in and was put in an 'available bed' with 3 other complete strangers in the room. Went to the front desk to immediately inform them I was given the wrong room. I was told there were only two of those private rooms on property and they were both fully booked so there was nothing they could do about it. I could 'deal' with it for the night and try to contact a manager the next day. I inquired about another room, nope sorry this is all we have. This is an unacceptable response & poor customer service. This was not what I booked. I emailed the manager & checked out the same hour I checked in. I wasn't going to bunk up with 3 strangers in a random hotel room. Talk about an unsafe situation & liability!!! The manager (Michael Nichols) responded with a curt, you were provided accommodations so there's nothing we can help you with go talk to hotels.com. I proceeded to reach out to hotels.com and their resolution team and they told me that they contacted the hotel and we're given the same answer. This is a ridiculous way to approach a situation that has a very simple resolution to provide quality customer service. We got a private room so didn't have to deal with sharing with strangers. As a hostel type property it's fine. The room wasn't the cleanest but towels were always replaced every morning and beds were "made." I say made because there was just a body size comforter for each bunk bed. No complaints there, it did the trick and the bed was comfy. The two pools and spa is definitely the main attraction action (and the location was good - not the closest to everything but loved clocking an average of 12-15K steps during the trip). There's basic continental bfast every morning, some complimentary snacks for happy hour, and a full bar. If you're looking for economy accommodations and good people watching/meeting new people, NYAH is prob a good bet. read more

The Nyah hotel is CLOSED Memorial Day weekend and still won't give us a refund. All other hotels in the area are issuing full refunds to guests due to hotels being closed yet this hotel refuses. They are loosing guests that come yearly just to keep a few hundred dollars. The Nyah needs to work on their customer service and putting guests needs first. read more

This property looks good on Expedia. It is not the case. This property is outdated, maintenance could use some help. Hair coming from drains in a "clean" room. Disgusting. Not only would I recommend not staying here, I would pay you as I feel it's haunted from normal realities and expectations of a hotel. The manager Mike is terrible and Raquel could use a lesson on being a little more helpful for a front desk staff. Pool is not well kept. If drunken beach party, that keeps you up all night is what your looking for, and if you would expect to get hepatitis from its filth, it's not a good fit. read more

Whoever is managing this place (Micheal I believe his name was) needs to be replaced because he is not only irragent and rude but he has no clue or concept on how to manage anything, to the extent of quite the opposite, but how to ruin a place that could have potential if it or they (the owners or staff) tried or cared at all. The place is quite run down, dirty and disgusting. The staff very unhelpful and quite rude. A/C non functional in room. Very stagnant, musty and gross smelling room. Cross between BO and something that may have died. It did not put out cool sir. No way to adjust the temperature, the controls did not work. It just blew foul smelling room air around at best. No for way to have privacy in rooms as not only broken and in functining order but they do not fit. Even at the toilet. Anyone outside the room can watch you shower or while on the toilet. Really, can we have some common decency here. Very uncomfortable to know outside people are watching you sleep, shower and going to the toilet. This was rather creepy. The pool and hot tub too discussing to go in, way too much pigeon poop and iguana crap that other guest were joking about who pooped in the pool. Discusting. Needless to say No one was using the pools there. A leaf or twig would be okay, but not animal excrement floating around. No one at front desk waited two hours for someone to actually show up there and this was during the day time. No one answers phone either when trying to get assistance there. Strang acting staff, like they are having to hide from what ever is going on there. No clear answers when you do talk to them, they are very silent and avoid to help or answer any concerns or question you may have. There is something very wrong at this place. Not only unhelpful but very unfriendly. The place looks really nice on their website, but that is not what it is in reality. The place is just unkept, filthy, not safe or sain in so many ways. The employees are uncaring, rude and seem to go out of their way to not help or care at even the slightest request, almost like on purpose to punish guest who stay there. The breakfast does not start when they say but almost an hour later. Had to ask for a tong to use. Can't believe they just let other quest reach in to touch what others are or maybe going to eat. That just shouldn't happen. A restaurant or another eating establishment would be shut down in an instant for such violations. No attention to the food they set out. A guest spilled hot chocolate over the counters saturating food items and all the paper plates set out and was never cleaned up. The guest tried to do the best she could, but staff never cared to help. If the staff even seemed to care, or try, instead of being irragent and plane out rude, the experience could have been better. As at least they were trying, but thay is not the case. It's just a ran down place with workers who either gave up long ago or do not care. There seemed to be a specific person there that created havoc on other staff not able to do their job by the name of Michael not sure what the real issue is but there was a girl trying to actually help and he stepped in and she became not helpful and seemed quite fearful. She couldn't even speak. There were many other issues going on there, too many to go on... coffee not not working, stained sheets, stale food, pool towels... seriously too many to go on about. This place has way to many problems. So much that other guest were trying to make lite of it and just tried to joke about it, as that is all one could do. A saying that keep going around was, "NYAH, this in NOT your average hotel." and not in a good way. read more

This place is for lower income individuals that don't mind sleeping in a room with strangers. It's unclean has mold in it and therefore unacceptable. Once we inspected our room we immediately made other arrangements then left. After a huge to do trying to get our deposit back because of the unsatisfactory conditions we left in a lot worse shape then we got there. Buyer beware. read more

This place is horrible. No hot water in our room and their response is sorry, we are sold out. Customer service sucks. For 300+ a night I expect a great hotel. Stay as far away from this place as you can. I think one star is too much to give. Not even trying to make it right. What a let down when you are sooo pumped for a vacation. Still no hot water on day two. Was told by the front desk that cold showers boost you immune system. Couldn't even make eye contact with me. I hate this place. The front desk then told us "why don't you make friends with some of the guest and see if you can use their shower." Are you kidding me? The night before when we first reported hot water issues we were told we could take a shower down by the pool. For 300+ a night this was absolutely ridiculous. The front desk personnel have no customer service. We reported the issue agin the next night to the supervisor on duty and we were told it would be take care of first thing in the am. Nothing. Wen we checked out we were asked about our stay and we said horrible. She spoke to the manager and we were told we had only reported the issues once and sorry about your luck.
