This place is horrible. No hot water in our room and their response is sorry, we are sold out. Customer service sucks. For 300+ a night I expect a great hotel. Stay as far away from this place as you can. I think one star is too much to give. Not even trying to make it right. What a let down when you are sooo pumped for a vacation. Still no hot water on day two. Was told by the front desk that cold showers boost you immune system. Couldn't even make eye contact with me. I hate this place. The front desk then told us "why don't you make friends with some of the guest and see if you can use their shower." Are you kidding me? The night before when we first reported hot water issues we were told we could take a shower down by the pool. For 300+ a night this was absolutely ridiculous. The front desk personnel have no customer service. We reported the issue agin the next night to the supervisor on duty and we were told it would be take care of first thing in the am. Nothing. Wen we checked out we were asked about our stay and we said horrible. She spoke to the manager and we were told we had only reported the issues once and sorry about your luck. The place was fine, rooms were nice, very pricey for what you get but it was fine. The biggest issue was security, the man comes out to tell us we need to be out of the pool in 5 minutes and to turn off our music. We say it's okay and agree to get out, we tell him the music wasn't ours, but we will get out. He starts yelling at us about how disrespectful and belligerent we are and that we needed to "get the fuck out of the pool right now or he was calling the police to escort us off the property" . We told him he was being aggressive and that wasn't appropriate to which he started getting louder and following us. We got out and he continued to follow us yelling at us until we got to the room. I stayed here during a bachelorette party in June. This is hotel claims to be "not your average hotel". Well they are right, it is well BELOW AVERAGE!!! First our room was in the hotel lobby! Yep, you read that right. You walk in the front door and our room was right next to it. As we entered the room, we noticed there was no ac and it was extremely humid. There were 3 fans set up in the room and running so the hotel obviously knew that the ac didn't work. Upon complaining to the front desk, they "fixed" it and said it would cool down. We were heading out at that time so we didn't stay in the room to make sure. Big mistake, we came back to find it hot and the humidity so bad our bed sheets were wet! We complained again and were told "I'll call the manager". I asked to switch room and was told there were no other rooms available. They called in an ac repairman and he said they just had to add coolant. The room cooled off for about an hour and then the ac stopped working again. When I complained again, I was told I could leave and find another hotel but there was nothing they can do. If you've ever searched key west hotel prices you know it's extremely expensive to find a hotel room for the same day. We were pretty much left with no options and had to suffer. This hotel is hit or miss with the room as I went to the rooms of the other girls in our group. The brides room had a window ac but had a wall blocking where the beds were leaving them hot when trying to sleep. The ac unit also kept automatically switching back to "eco mode" after she changed it to make colder. The other girls room was nice! Big huge bed in the center, cold ac, huge bathroom. You're taking a chance when booking here because you never know what kind of room you'll get. On the day of checkout after again requesting to speak to the manager (he never seemed to be available or on property) they refunded me half of the cost for my stay. No air conditioning in the middle of June in key west is completely unacceptable, especially when the website advertises air conditioning in all room!! Save yourself the stress and misery and stay elsewhere. You might pay a little more but it is worth it!! read more

Rooms are very small and have moldy smell. Large hole under rug in living room, extremely bad breakfast. Other than Anthony, the staff is very rude, disrespectful, and aggressive. My company and I were enjoying dinner and a drink on the pool deck around 11pm. The night staff/ security guard came by began scolding us about spring breakers and how disrespectful they are. We told him we were not spring breakers, that we are adults. He proceeded by telling us he does not care and will kick us to the street. He continued to curse us out and call us inappropriate names. We recorded the interaction and will be posting it to the internet. We were quiet and respectful while this employee was badgering us. Far Below Average Hotel This had to be the worst hotel experience I've ever had. First of all, there is no parking anywhere close to the hotel. It's all street parking, and the blocks around NYAH are all for local residents. Second, the hotel is a series of cabanas around a few pools. This means that if anyone is out in the pool or hot tub, you will hear them. We had people outside our window at 11:30 pm and again at 7 am. The walls of the cramped, weirdly shaped rooms are so thin that I heard every word they said. I wanted to watch TV to drown out the noise, but it was broken. The front desk repeatedly said someone would come to fix it, but it was never repaired. The breakfast was well below par. There was nowhere to sit to eat it. It was basically cold cereals, yogurt, and stale pastries. We tried to get a refund to leave early, but the manager refused to budge. I'd stay far away from this place. The rooms were clean and the beds were very soft... We really had no issues. The hot tub is decent although it could use a few more jets but what can you do. There's another smaller hot tub next to it and then there are two pools, one is semi-heated. The place is 10 minutes away from Duval Street so it was a quick and painless walk. I felt like the lobby was nice, the grounds looked great, pools and jacuzzis were nice too, and we loved having the deck to ourselves-- our cousins had the room next to us so we just posted up outside drinking and talking. No one bothered us once. They have a happy hour with wine and cheese which is a nice touch. Despite all this, there are cons. First, the rooms are plain. The bathroom was small in our room. We found termite "frass" on one of the bunks in our room-I posted a pic. It's not a big deal but a little bit of a turn off. When we first got there, this group of guys was taking a pic chugging beer, lol, so that tells you a lil bit of the vibe in this hotel. For all those looking for a hotel in a good area that is moderately priced, this fits the bill. However please note that this hotel isn't really for couples. Love, love, love this place! Marcy is a doll. Staff is super friendly and patient. Beautiful property. The best part is the inclusive wine and cheese happy hour..unlimited. Fantastic! This place somewhat resembles a hostel as there are beds that fold out of the walls and lockable closets. I totally get it though, it's key west. You could be shacked up with random people or bring someone untrustworthy home. The only complaint is that the door keys keep breaking or not working. It happened to us 3 times and I saw it happen to a few other guests as well. But the front desk was quick to correct it. When you first arrive, you think it's just your everyday bed and breakfast. You go through the picket white fence, walk up the steps and come into a very modern feel instead. The best of both worlds I should say. Old historic keywest on the outside, chic modern design on the inside. The front desk was a whole new experience. We had originally booked out two rooms, but unfortunately only needed one. We had asked if there was anything they can do, but we understood it wasn't there fault we booked an extra unnecessary room. The gentleman at the front desk knew we were disappointed, but handled us with care lol. He was beyond nice and went the extra mile to give us all the crackers and cheese we wanted to lighten our mood up. Which it did !! When I said whole new experience, I didn't mean bad. I meant it was definitely not your average host, with the average protocols. He was so awesome !! My memory failed to remember his name tho, Mr.crackers and cheese is what I shall name him. We get to our room, and realized we literally have the entire top floor of the hotel, which made everything that much better. Our mistake of over booking lead us to having all the privacy we can get! Our two rooms were next to each other, one room had an amazing balcony with the view of the pools. The rooms were very clean and there were 4 cute bunk beds and one single bed in each room. The beds and pillow were nice and fluffy, most of all... felt very new. Each bed had a charging station with outlet and USB, no more fighting over outlets!!! However, there was a wild rooster in the complex that started crowing at about 4:30 AM and didn't stop until someone chased it away at 7 AM. It was incredibly loud and our entire room couldn't sleep. Oh where do I start. Positives: price, this would be a great place for ppl under 25 who don't need sleep. I wasn't sure if it was a brothel, hostel, or hotel. If you're young and don't give a $h!t this would be great, but I'm not. We had to call multiple times for ppl partying on the deck above our room which no one was supposed to be on. The balcony doors were screwed shut because they were deemed unsafe. When it rained it poured in the windows. Pools were nasty, cloudy, and smelled of strong chlorine. The floors in our room were so uneven we couldn't shut the dresser. We were on the 3rd floor which there is no elevator you need to carry your bags but we wouldn't have slept at all had we been on the ground floor. I can say the staff was awesome! Very clean place that has been renovated. Bunk beds fill the rooms which have nightlights and plenty of outlets to charge your tech tribe of phones etc. It's close enough to Duval St downtown in Key West for a nice walk or quick bike ride. Great pools and Jacuzzis fill this property. Breakfast is basic continental, which is the reason for 4 stars. Otherwise a very good place. Electronic keys make access easy to doors and storage closets in the rooms. Bonus: bike rental is next door. I rocked the trike for ease and the big basket in back. Not Your Average Hotel is right ... it's worse than a hotel but for more monIt's tucked away in quiet section which is nice but there is very limited parking so you end up parking down the block. There's no bellhop carts so you have to lug your items up from wherever you parked. The grounds are not the most taken care for, especially the stairs and the brick walkway that will break an ankle if you're not careful, but the rooms are worse. Our refrigerator looked as though half of it wasn't cleaned out before we arrived. The top bunk beds weren't even made and there were stains on the white sheets. There was rust on the top of the counters next to the top bunk from the sprinklers. The arrangement of the crooked/leaning cabinets are poor so there's no where to sit within the room. TV didn't work in our room and we told front desk who tried and said maintenance would be coming. It was over an hour before we gave up on trying to have them come fix it. The AC? Main unit was busted so they had a window shaker that only cooled half the room and front desk had to search for a standing fan for over 3 hours. Bathroom was disgusting. There was soap scum dried to the doors, stains and cracks all over the tile floors. read more

This hotel was a last minute booking therefore my boyfriend and I were only able to get two beds in a four-bed suite (bunk bed style). We had incredibly low expectations before arriving at the place since this is the first time we've done something like this. After getting lucky at finding street parking, we were greeted by an unassuming little house. Our first thought was literally "where do the rooms go?" Entering through the doorway, the place actually expanded right before our eyes. Right when you walk in, you see the backyard area where the pool and additional buildings are situated. It was amazing and our entire perspective of the place was transformed. Check in was straightforward and there's a coffee machine at the lobby which serves Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate (as well as a bar with a happy hour)! We were able to see all FIVE of their pools during the walk to our room (2 hot tubs, 1 jacuzzi, 1 heated pool, 1 regular pool) and it got us so excited! The room itself was decently sized - two bunk beds and we took both of the top bunks. The bathroom was clean and they provided shampoo and body wash. Pillows, comforter, and towel were all in the closet and were clean. One of the things that concerned us was the security of our stuff but the closet inside the bedroom took that concern away. In order to open the closet, you need to tap your room keycard against the handle and it will unlock. You will also need to tap the card again in order to lock it, which is GREAT since it prevents accidental locking of your keycard inside the closet (almost happened to me) I can't forget about its location! My boyfriend and I walked from NYAH to Duval St during our stay and it was about a 10 minute walk one way. Pretty amazing especially after a nice meal and plenty of snacks to burn off some calories! They also have bike rentals (but we didn't inquire about this so I can't say much about it) They do have free breakfast and it's your normal fare - toast, boiled eggs, yogurt, orange juice, some pastries, cereal, coffee. The pools are amazing and made our stay even better and it was a great way to start the morning. Check-out went smoothly as well and we were offered water bottles before we headed out. All in all, I really recommend NYAH and I suggest booking early! The bunk beds were great for a short trip but if you prefer more privacy, you definitely need to book in advance. I am a local (year round) and I live in the neighborhood where NYAH is located. There is also a BnB next door to me. I believe we all understand whet it means to live in a tourist destination. Recently, I was walking my dog and walking by NYAH and I watched an employee blow landscape debris into the street and onto the neighbors property. I know this happens almost everyday!! I stopped and spoke to the employee who assured me he would stop blowing the debris into the street and onto neighbor properties. I began to walk away and the employe again began to blow the debris into the street and onto neighbor poverties. I said hey you just said you would not do that and he said 'just shut up' and continued to blow the debris. I went to the front desk and ask for the manager. I altered the manager I lived in the neighborhood and I express my dismay being lied to and being told to just shut up. Here is Mike the manager's response to a neighbor alerting him an employee was rude and told a neighbor to shut up: Where do you live? Why did you confront my employee? How long have you lived here? My family has lived here for decades!!! My response was what? What does any of that got to do with the employee? It became quickly obvious Mike, the manager, has no communication skills, no common courtesy, and definitely no compassion for the neighbors!! Mike did not care about the employees behavior nor a neighbor!! I defiantly will not have any of my visitors staying at NYAH! I have repeated my stories to many of my neighbors and they will no longer have their visitors stay at NYAH. If the manager of the hotel does not care about the behavior of the employees, the neighbors and the neighborhood how much does he care about the guests - maybe it is past time to replace Mike the manager with a manager with communication and customer service skills!! read more

No, this isn't a four star hotel, but it is a four star stay. My group of 11 bachelors needed some beer in the cooler and clean rooms with a laid back atmosphere and that is exactly what we got. You would think a hotel of this nature would be gross and uncontrollable, but it's not. The staff was generally friendly which helped keep the mood light. Guest were respectful of each other. I think it has to do with the "vibe" the employees portray; "Come here to have fun, but do it safely and respectfully." The rooms were clean and in decent shape. Secure lockers were an added bonus. Check in was quick and we were off celebrating in no time. Close walk to the places you want to go. Bike rental is available. The only reason for a four instead of a five star is for the night security guard who was overly aggressive and confrontational for absolutely no reason. If he had just talked to people like a human rather than dogs, people would have been much more receptive to his request. I wish I knew his name, but he refused to give it to me. read more

This place has the BEST front desk staff hands down. Stayed two nights for girlfriend birthday weekend with 6 women. Loved the room, the pools/hot tubs, bedding and everything about NYAH. Will stay again next Key West trip. It's location is excellent. Not too close, not too far from Duval and Key West Express. Wine reception with cheese is daily. Nice touch! Continental breakfast is a true Continental breakfast. Simple, but will get you started out right. Tip: Rooms close to pool means not having to drag luggage some lofty stairs. read more

I hate to say this, but this is the worst travelling experience I've ever had in my life. My best friend, husband, and I booked a room together. When we checked in, we found out that we all had to stay in separate rooms because they had some issue. They told us that it we talked to the receptionist at 8 am the next day, they could rearrange and let us stay together. We set our alarms, woke up, talked to the receptionist. She said she would call us back but never did. We came back at the end of the night to find out that they switched the rooms without informing us. We had to spend more than an hour to figure out the rearrangement. Thankfully, the guy working that night shift (Feb 15th) was willing to walk us through it (please give him a raise). I'd not recommend this place to anyone unless you want your Key West experience to be ruined. Please read all of the bad reviews before booking this place. I would give it less than one star it I could and I don't usually give bad reviews. read more

I stayed for 4 nights, but shortly upon checkout, I realized I left some items hanging in the locker. I called in, they refused to listen to me the first day and told me to call back in the morning. I then got ahold of someone who said they would look into it. I called every day for five days and they claimed to have never found the items. Please keep this in mind when booking your stay as there must be some non-honest people staying or working at this hotel, and the only other person in the room was a pleasant person. I booked two nites for a non-shared room for three people arriving July 6, 2021. All good. So then Hurrcane Elsa develops and was forecast to go over Key West on July 6. I am watching the storm track and call July 4 to cancel. Took about 6 calls to get a live person to confirm. NYAH live person says I am within cancellation window and they cannot cancel. Me: "there is a hurricane, you know?" NYAH:"there is no evacuation order for Key West" Me: "I am not in Key West, common sense and Fla Hwy Patrol says I should not drive into the Keys in a hurricane" NYAH: "I'm sorry". Fortunately Elsa dropped to tropical storm strength and passed 40 miles off Key West on July 6 so no damage. I am still dealing with my CC company and this dispute which NYAH is still fighting on Aug 8. read more

Nyah would not let me stay in the hostel because I have a service dog. They were worried about guests hypothetically being upset as they didn't ask not one guest if it was an issue, but further more that's irrelevant as my dog is a registered and licensed and all documentation was provided to show that. I booked NYAH specifically because I love the hostel experience and the chance to make new friends. My service dog is 55lbs doesn't make a sound and is very well behaved by all means. NYAH placed me in a apartment where me and my service dog spent the night alone and were not able to intermingle and make friends. NYAH made me feel extremely discriminated against and ruined my trip to key west. If you have a service animal DO NOT GO HERE! They will be little you and make you feel as if you have done something wrong by having a need for said animal. read more

Was a little bit hesitant to stay here because i had never used a hostel in the united states before but due to our late booking time and the prices of other key west hotels we decided to go down this route. My friend and i stayed in a mixed room and ended up getting super normal and quiet roommates (one male or two males). The hotel was pretty clean and well put together, random repairs needed to be addressed but nothing major. Didnt love that they were painting outside my room for two days but I didnt really hang in the room too often anyway. The lobby area had a pretty awesome bar with happy hour from 420-520 in which they served a few free snacks. The prices for drinks without happy hour were awesome though, so much so that we would often come back for a drink or two and socialize a bit. What sucked though is they were basically out of all wine and a lot of drinks everyday and seemed incapable of restocking, lots of false hope, no me gusta. Some of the pools were heated also which was a huge plus! And I had been to key west before in the past but didnt realize how much of an older crowd there was - so staying at this hotel was great because it gave us an opportunity to meet cool young people from all over the world. Would definitely recommend if you dont want to spend a fortune on a room and want a surprisingly pleasant hotel experience! Also cant beat the location of this hotel! 10 min walk from duval and great activities and food nearby. As for parking, gota put some love into finding a nearby spot (but there really were a bunch even over valentines day) and once you do leave your car there, and if not there are nearby parking garages. read more

Stayed here for a friends 21st birthday. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is pretty modern and has outlets and USB slots right next to the bed. There's two pools and a jacuzzi in the middle of the grounds. Its a great place to relax and catch some sun. They even have a roof top sun deck. And the best part? Unlimited wine and cheese from 4:20-6:00. It also considerably close to Duval St. and easy to get to and from the bar area. My experience with NYAH certainly had its pros and cons! After reading reviews and looking at pictures online, I had set my expectations for the hotel pretty high--I can sadly say that my expectations were not met. Upon arrival we were quickly checked in; the lobby is nice and clean, staff is friendly, and the free snacks are great. However, our room was not as pleasing. The rooms are much smaller than they appear online, and the amount of living space is just not enough for 6 people. Our bedroom ceiling was clearly repaired fairly close to our arrival and exposed drywall was still there during our stay. The bathroom floor tiles were loose and would come undone when we'd walk around. The shower water pressure was also brutal, along with having no hot water in the mornings. The room was dismal, but I can say that the outdoor area of the hotel somewhat made up for what the room was lacking. The pools are gorgeous and there's plenty of them. The landscaping around the place is great and there are plenty of chairs to lay out on. Hotel room was fine but the service was horrible. Called the front desk and asked if we can have water bottles delivered to the room and the front desk responded with a horrible attitude, which is fine because it was late. Went to the front desk to buy the water and the concierge said "its 2AM, we don't take card unless you can pay with cash". Didn't have cash on me so we had no water for the night. If you drive here may have trouble finding a parking spot close by. You have to watch the street markings closely. Many spots are reserved for residents. Worst case, there is parking 3 blocks away for $10 a day. I parked 5 blocks away. First time ever needed the phone app to find my car. Lots of activities, bike rentals, free breakfast of toast, cereal, pastries and juice. Great place and very clean rooms. Respectful people upon my visit. read more
