This is a very nice, clean and well maintained facility. We had a waterfront site which was lovely. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Bathrooms are clean. Nice heated pool. Some downsides - sites are snug, some areas had a rotten egg smell (from the water?). If you are not in an enclosed RV there may be some issues with noise. From the point of placing a reservation to actually arriving and setting up, the staff was absolutely superb! Very accommodating, very professional and customer service oriented. The park itself is very well capped up, the pool is being restored and I'm sure it's going to be beautiful. During the summer of 2022, our family enjoyed a month, long road trip from Los Angeles to Key West and back again. It was a dream trip for all of us, with many awesome stops along the way, seeing places we have never been, and may never visit together again. My wife spent six months planning every detail that she could, including our stay at Boyd's key west campground. It's probably worthy of mentioned that we towed a 25 foot camper trailer all the way across country. As we got closer to Boyd's, I did start to notice that the streets of Stock Island (that's the key just above Key West, Mildred) got a little, more, narrow, and, notably, filled with chickens and iguanas! When we pulled into the campground, however, there was plenty of space to negotiate the turns and situate ourselves. The campsite that we had selected months in advance was one of the waterfront spots. A simple, crushed gravel pad with full hook ups, some hedges for privacy, and a requisite coconut palm tree was a nice setting to park our trailer for our four day stay. The campground featured clean bathrooms and showers, a recreation center for the kids, a swimming, pool, laundry facilities, a launch ramp, a swim beach... Which came in handy to watch our kayaks into the bay... And barbecue pits at some of the sites. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and kind, helping us with reservations for parasailing, and giving us flawless directions around town so we could make our reservations for things like our trip to the dry Tortugas on time. Keeping it real: the only downside to our stay -- something that was out of control of Boyd's, and more of a problem for the greater Key West community-- the Sargasso weed that washes up on the shore in the warm waters of the keys, decomposes and stinks like rotten eggs. If you've ever smelled low tide in a back bay or harbor area, it's kind of like that... Add in the warm tradewinds, and a little humidity, and it hits you pretty good when you first get there. During our stay, we kind of got used to it, but it was definitely a thing. For what it's worth, it was the same at most of the beaches we visited, but perhaps more pronounced in the relatively still waters behind Stock Island, near the mangroves. Speaking of the mangroves, we took two tandem kayaks on our trip, and did some paddling in the waters off of Boyd's. In some places, the water was only a few inches deep and bath tub warm. We explored the mangroves and saw numerous fish, birds, and invertebrates. Our family absolutely looks forward to some future trip to stay at Boyd's again... I can't imagine when that might be, so for the time being, our few days there, serve as one of our most awesome family memories vacationing together. read more

More of a "character" review/post.. We LOVE Boyd's and have been staying there for 12+ years..It's truly is paradise! Unfortunately, the staff isn't always pleasant and the manager/owner's son Shawn is one of a kind! When trying to make a reservation a few years back, I had to speak with Shawn bc my account was flagged..I was told there were "too many vehicles" at my site, and since he had this conversation with me that I could now book my reservation. A few months later I called to book and once again was sent to Shawn for approval. This time he told me that it was a misunderstanding and that there was no reason that he needed to speak with me and that he would remove the "flag". But the way the reservationist spoke to me was not ok and I told Shawn this. Definitely like I was a POS of sorts. I did book and booked multiple times after. I called in May 2025 to book and was told I have to speak to Shawn AGAIN! I called every day for a week with no return call, each time the reservationist seemed irritated that I was calling again. When I did speak with him..this time he said that when I cancelled my reservation in Oct that my "tone" wasn't acceptable to his reservationist!! He told me that we were not welcome back at Boyd's. I was flabbergasted!! I am 45 yrs old and NEVER have I been asked not to return somewhere! I guess I'm writing this just so people know that the character of a place/owner speaks volumes and when spending that kind of money to go to a place repeatedly over 12+ years and this is how we were treated is unbelievable. It's just sad bc we really do LOVE Boyd's. The way this was handled has really bothered me as a person! P.S. This was a really fun place to stay. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful! We asked to move camp sites because I had problems walking to the bathrooms. They were very accommodating. There is a beach on the backside of the property. There were lots of amenities and things to do on property. The pool was clean and well kept. There is a small general store on property. Prices weren't to bad. There are lots of chickens and roosters running around the place. It was interesting to see. I would recommend this campsite to anyone looking for someplace close to the end of the keys! read more

We had a great time staying at Boyd's campground during the holidays. We had a primitive tent campsite that fit my adventure van perfectly! We were lucky to have the boat dock right behind our site which was east to launch the paddleboards. The campsites are pretty tight, but it fits the key west vibe. Everyone was very respectable and having a great time! The location of the campground is great - only 15 minutes to Duval and less than .5 mile to Hogfish Restaurant. The staff was outstanding! So helpful and constantly driving around to answer questions and provide assistance. The bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned daily and there were plenty for all the campers. Boyd's also had a raffle with Fury for a snorkel and glass bottom boat trip! We actually one of the glass bottom boat tours. I highly recommend this site and will be returning soon! read more

We had a water side campsite reserved for 4 days. They screwed up our reservation. When we got there they said whoever made our reservation over the phone, didn't enter it into the system correctly. I don't buy it! I printed out the email confirmation and handed it to them. How could I have gotten an accurate email if it didn't get entered in the system correctly! I think they gave ours to someone with more money of fame. For the record they moved us to a non water site for the first 2 days and gave us one free night. Look, you don't visit Key West (especially on a budget) for quiet seclusion. And this is no different. It's not "camping," it is a "place to sleep in a tent" (or the mobile accomodations of your choice). That said, it was a GREAT place to sleep in a tent. The staff was lovely. Highlights: check in woman advised me of a great alternative to Uber. Another staff member gave me a ride in his golf cart when I appeared lost. Very sweet people. Nice common areas to unwind, under cover. Bathrooms were wonderfully clean. I believe this to be a combination of good cleaning (obviously), and other visitors having a general respect for the property. We sauntered back to our tent site both nights around 11pm and it was drop-dead quiet. Certainly there is noise from the CITY around it, but we observed no noisy visitors or vehicle generators. Anyone complaining about noise is not considering that this campground is not situated in a remote area, but firmly located in the middle of a lot of action. It is what it is. If you seek absolute quiet, maybe don't sleep outdoors in the middle of a major tourist city with an adjacent naval air base. But yeah, we were super happy with Boyds. read more

Great location. You can rent Jeep's right on the property. You can also have a moped delivered for $50 per day to take into downtown Key West just 15 min or less from campground. Only stayed with our RV for one day. But space was quiet and a little tight. Definitely no extra space. read more

Looked at website for pricing. When we arrived we where charged almost twice the website price. Clean bathrooms. No space between websites, bad neighborhood outside of campgrounds. Security is riding up and down roads all night long. Campers are very unfriendly. Roosters crow all night long. For some reason the campgrounds is home to free range roosters. Would not recommend this place lots of nice campgrounds on the Keys this is not one of them. Only nice thing is that if you like seeing and hearing low flying aircraft you will like that the airport is close by. read more

Review for TENT camping: Camping on the ocean looks so beautiful and serene. I set up my tent facing the water but it was also facing the highway, a Shell gas station, and houseboats that left their generators on ALL night. It was incredibly loud. I got about three hours of sleep and that's with earplugs. The location is also under some airplane path and you can hear the freeway noise, motorcycles, ambulances, etc. I figured I might have well just been back in Sacramento camping under the I-5 overpass. I'm NOT joking. So the generator noise really was horrible but it's not Boyd's fault. They actually can't enforce anything to cut back on that noise... Sites are really packed in as well. Can't even do a little toot in your tent without your neighbor hearing you. There aren't a ton of tent campsites but I did ask for a different site the following night which faces the other direction. It was better than the night prior; however, still not "peaceful." The other campers and people at Boyd's were respectful with the curfew and noise. There were no problems there. It was just the surrounding noise from the location itself. The grounds were clean and the pool was very refreshing. Just be warned of noise if tent camping and try to get a site number about 28-32. read more

Thank you Boyd's crew for making our camping weekend so enjoyable. They are organized, very friendly, very clean and dog friendly, which made for a lot of nice camper/neighbors. When we booked we asked if they could put us close to our friends camping space. I asked, but really did not expect them to be able to do it because they are quite popular.... well much to our suprise they put us right next door. And when security came by on their golf cart, it wasn't to correct us, but to check in and make sure we were settling in. They do business the way it should be done!! This is not quite friendly for tent sites. RVs may have a quieter experience. I would suggest to get rid of the Roosters. read more

Beautiful campground for Tents and RVs. Bathhouses are moderately designed and kept very clean. They have activities and a clubhouse style room for pool. I went Tesla camping at this campground and they were great. Some campgrounds give you a hard time about EV camping, not understanding the car is emissions-free - no exhaust, engine noise, CO2, etc. Boyd's didn't give me any trouble at all and were very welcoming. I stayed two nights in a tent site, the view of the water was absolutely beautiful. People were friendly, including the staff. 10/10 would stay again. read more

First time we took our Class B to Key West and what a great time. Convenient location, great amenities, beautiful dockside parking and super friendly staff. We stayed at Boyd's 3/24 - 3/29 in a waterfront RV site, site 117. Our site was very clean upon arrival. The campground was bigger than I imagined and very busy, but once we got in and got settled, it didn't seem so bad. There was everything from small tent sites to sites which held 40'+ motor coaches. People had tents that fit above their truck beds and also on top of their Volvo SUVs. As soon as someone left, staff were right there to clean up the site for the next guest. Everyone around us were respectful of their neighbors, we never heard loud talking or yelling of any kind. Our site, 117, was a waterfront site and we were right across from the shower house and bathrooms, which came in handy with our two kids. We were separated from neighbors by some tall shrubbery on both sides. We had a good side concrete pad and picnic table. We found the whole campsite well kept during our time there. Trash was emptied when full, showers and bathrooms were clean every time we used them. Really appreciated that they provided little bags to clean up after pets as we never saw evidence laying around and we never seem to bring enough. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The store had a lot of souvenirs, clothing & jewelry, but also offered ice cream as well as milk and other grocery items - at convenience store pricing, but nice to know they have it if you need it. The pool area was great. My kids didn't want to do anything else, which made for a relaxing week. They had water aerobics every morning, but the ladies were very inviting to my kids and even interacted with them as they did their aerobics. I do wish they had more activities for kids, but I'm not even sure mine would have left the pool. The WiFi worked great, even back at our site, though the signal was stronger up by the office. We found the seasonal residents to be very friendly and welcoming. The area surrounding the campground did seem a bit sketchy, but we never felt unsafe. There was a bus stop on the next corner down, which our neighbors used to go into town and back. There were a few restaurants close by so you didn't have to go into town. Many people it seemed still brought food to make right at their campsite, but we prefer to go out to eat. We wished we could have stayed longer since traffic getting down there added so much time to our trip. I wished we knew that Seafood Fest was going on in Islamorada, which caused huge backups all the way to Key Largo. So I would recommend checking out events all throughput the Upper Keys that may affect your drive into or out of the lower keys. It took us over 4 hours to drive from Key Largo to Boyd's on that Sunday afternoon that we arrived. When we left the next Friday morning (we left at 6:15am) it took us about 2.5 hours to drive to Key Largo. If we make the drive to Key West again, we would have no problem staying at Boyd's again as we had a great time. We would recommend Boyd's to anyone. read more

Overall had a nice stay. The front desk was very nice with communication and checking in. We were in a tent and it was a pretty tight space next to the neighbors but it seems like that overall there. Pool was very nice and little game area was nice for the rain. Also washers and dryers were pricy and not so great. Bathrooms could use a fan!! Hot af!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't even get dressed after drying offf from the shower I was sweating so much in there! As far as the site it was nice with a small shore and had a grill and table. Second time they had a lift to help get into the site. Staff was GREAT! Great location for Key West. We rented a golf cart for easy access and convenience both times. Park was clean, pool was heated and cooled. Didn't use the bathhouse. Last time we were there they were painting and it was looking good. Great water pressure, be sure and use your pressure reducer.
