My gf and I were looking for a 1-2 day moped rental and found this place while strolling down Waikiki (looks like they have a duplicate location in a different part of Waikiki). I got to say that I was pretty pleased with the overall experience. Admittedly, the mopeds were not new (most had ~6,000mi on them) and had some wear & tear (the horn didn't work on one of them, speedometer was busted on one of them, fuel gauge was busted on one of them, etc.), BUT otherwise they worked fine and we had no problems touring around downtown, Tantalus, Diamond Head, Punchbowl, etc. The guy quoted 90mpg but I think it was probably more like 60-70mpg, not bad, regardless. Cost was $1/hr, so $24 for a full day + ~$6-8 tax (optional insurance, which we declined, was ~$6). When we returned it the guy offered a 2nd day for only $20 (+tax) so apparently there might be some room to haggle and get multi-day discount). most of the other places look to advertise $25-35/day (plus fees), so I figured this was a decent deal. A different reviewer noted problems with them charging her for damage without her knowing after she returned it, so I made sure to meticulously document any damage (mostly scratches) already on the bikes. We didn't have any problem returning it (just make sure to fill the gas when you get back). In retrospect it's probably not a bad idea to take quick phone pics of the bike to have extra documentation what damage was/wasn't there when you picked them up. With respect to service, Ladell was super friendly and laid back, and I think it was Blake that helped us return it. Overall it was a great experience, minus one star for the very-used, slightly busted bikes. I'll definitely consider renting from them again next time I'm here. read more

Such a SCAM! This place is shady . . . BEWARE! What was supposed to be a memorable time with our kids ended up being a nightmare. We rented three scootercars for 4hrs and after the 2nd hour one broke down. We had to wait an hour in the burning sun while they came with our replacement. Surprisingly, the replacement also made the same noise we had heard right before the first one broke down. We didn't want to chance it so we ended up returning early. We asked the Asian lady that worked there for a refund since we did not do the full 4hrs and also, an hour of it we were stranded on the side of the road. She refused and still wanted us to pay for gas. My husband argued with her but we ended up giving her the money. Spent 10 days in Hawaii, Maui and Oahu: and the one day we rented here was one of the highlights of that entire trip! We found Steve & co because we were looking for something fun to rent that we could take my daughter on (and Hawaii law prohibits that on normal mopeds so that was out). We rented the Hello Kitty Scooter-Car, (which included a pink cat helmet--with rubber cat ears--for my 5 year old daughter). Putting around the island on that thing, we were mini-celebrities, people would wave to us and take pictures. It was hilarious, and a lot of fun; my daughter absolutely loved it and will probably remember it for her entire life. Steve is great. At one point (after driving around Diamond Head and Haunama area all day) we had stopped at Rainbow Drive Inn to eat and the car wouldn't start (possibly I left something on that drained the battery--don't know). Steve came right over, checked it out, left once more to get a replacement battery and came back and installed it--no charge. We were back on the road in 30 minutes. At the end of the day, when we dropped off our rentals, he gave us a ride back to our condo in Waikiki. Great service, great experience. Highly recommended. read more

My friends and I had a few hours to spare before our flight, so we figured "Hell, let's just rent some mopeds and cruise around for awhile." We called pretty much every place we could, and they were all rented out. Paradise Cruisers had enough for all of us. I read the reviews and thought "Screw it - I'll give it a shot anyway." Service wasn't that great. Lots of "Look, this is how we do things here" type of talks. Really not friendly and it bordered on intimidation. I have no idea what Steve has up his %$# but he needs to get a doctor to remove it. We rented the bikes, and they were in pretty awful condition. We stopped by a beach briefly (literally like two minutes), and it took about 10 minutes to start mine back up. We had to slam the manual start nonstop and it backfired a ton. We go to a gas station and fill up. Each of our top-offs was like 50c. We brought them back to the place, and this guy working there claimed that one of us didn't top off. When we pushed back, he said "No, you didn't top off right. You have to..." and he showed us this ridiculous method that had never been disclosed AND HE WANTED $10 TO COVER IT. "So I don't get in trouble with my boss." Honestly, that's probably total bull. Anyway, this place is sketch. They aren't cheap. The mopeds are dying. The staff are crooked. I am a hawaii resident and this place is a SCAM. They lure you in with their cheap prices and "hookups" than screw you over when you return them. The Pete dude is immature, and unprofessional He was making racist comments about previous renters while we were renting our mopeds, he also had his Facebook open in front of us chatting with people and making inappropriate comments about girls. He also was behaving really suspiciously (high). The gas tanks weren't even full, which wasn't a big issue because it only cost $3 to fill them, but he charged us a $20 refueling fee upon return for each moped, even the two that were full. I personally wasn't there to return my moped with my 3 friends because I wasn't feeling well that morning. He took my absence to his advantage an accused us of crashing it, when the suspected "damages" were already there. He then assumed I didn't come because I crashed so badly and must have hurt my leg. This man is a complete moron. FYI the mopeds were already shitty and one was falling apart. All in all he charged an extra $100. Anyway, this place is a scam. i have never met someone at a place of business who acted so inappropriate and asinine. If i had the energy I would take legal action. AVOID this place. read more

SCAM ARTISTS!!! BEWARE! My rented scooter motor died and wouldn't restart. After I phoned them Steve the owner drove a new scooter out to my location. They were all nice and apologetic about it at the time and then one week later, after having left Hawaii. I found that they had kept my $200 credit card deposit. When I phoned to ask the reason I was told that I was being charged for a flat tire and a pickup fee. I never had a flat tire and the pickup was due to their crappy scooter breaking down on its own. At first I was looking for a 2-seater moped because my friend wasn't comfortable riding around alone but I found out that I needed a motorcycle license in order to get one of those. Bummer..I called around trying to find a 2-seater that wouldn't require a motorcycle license but I didn't have any luck. Sadly, I was ready to give up my desire to ride around so we started heading back to our hotel. As we were walking back from a local moped rental shop I saw this cool 2-seated scooter car parked in a lot and I my eyes got big. I was so excited that I was able to get my moped fix! So we called up Steve to schedule a pickup. The process was quick and easy and I was on my way around the town in no time! Steve suggested riding around Round Top Drive so we did and had a blast. I would recommend checking it out! I had to return my rental early due to an engagement and Steve drove me back. Excellent service, friendly and efficient. I'll be back to see you next time I'm here! At this time, you must rent for a 2 day minimum and there seems to be extra taxes & fees, coming out to $67 for 2 days. While I was renting some guys brought back a scooter that had been scratched. The employees were quick to tell them it would cost $500.... WHAT? Then they tried to give me a scooter where the seat lock was broken. I told them I wouldn't take it (because you can't lock up anything) and they gave me a new one. Shady. Avoid. Better places in the vicinity for a similar price. read more

This was the worst experience ever!!! For my first trip to Hawaii with my gf, we decided to rent mopeds to get around as suggested by friends. We found this place walking down the street. He told us about the pricing and it sounded amazing. However, he pulled out the worse moped we have ever seen! He got it from the back of the the shop on the side of the building. One of the other employees filled out the rental form and she marked down all of the damages on the moped and it just so happened to be mostly on the left side of the bike. That should have been our first clue that something might not be right, but we went along with it. My gf moped was in better condition and the only other ones were high end/price so we took those two for the the $1 and hour for 24 hours deal. The second clue should have been the fact that the female employee could not start it right away, pointing out that you had to hold the left break, hold a button and give a little on the throttle to get it started. The male employee, Steve, even said "oh, you have to give it a little gas to keep it going, it's going to need service soon". But since my gf moped was working fine, I just went with it. BIG MISTAKE!!!! We took off down the street about a mile and when I went to make a left turn, I could'nt!!!!! I had to try to keep on with traffic, thank goodness there was nobody in my lane, just the next. I finally get turned around to catch back up with my gf and told her I had a very hard time on the left turn. We called Steve and said to just bring it back. We were on a one way street and I went to turn around and again could not complete a full left turn, the left break handle broke and I almost wreaked!!! With no left break, no left turn, I had to walk the moped back to the shop a mile away. When we get there, he gets irate and start to tell me I wrecked the moped, it worked just fine before I left. wtf?! I told him exactly what happened and reminded him of the contract that filled out and other things and he said he nothing else to say, I wrecked it and for us to call the police. He said we were responsible for the moped but would give me another to ride anyways. We said no, we want to return them both and pay you for one hour even though we had them for 15 min. He said no, there is a 24 hour min. We asked him to show us where it says that and refused to talk to us, saying just call the police, so we did. The police tried to talk to him and got irate with them too!!! Talking down to them and saying there is nothing you can do , its legal and you have to take it, how do you like that, etc... total disrespect! After they took the report and we all left, my gf realized she had the key still to her moped and we went to do the right thing and give it back. We returned and he said we were trespassing and to leave, yelling at us in front of customers. My gf asked to take pictures of the moped and he said fine, do it on your way out and dont touch anything. While she searched for the moped, I tried to return his key and would not take it, telling me to just leave it and go, he is closed. The hours are 8a to 8p and it was only 6p and he still had customers. After searching for the moped, she finally found it on display in the front of the shop! we could'nt believe it, so she took pictures saying its totally fixed. He came over yelling at us to leave and that we were trespassing and he was going to call the police. My gf said as she was leaving that its totally fixed and he came over and broke the break handle back off again! So we started to leave and I again tried to hand him his key and he said just drop it and go, so I did and while on the phone with police, he said I threw it at him! Thank goodness the customers saw and backed me when the police came. He could'nt file a report and the best part is was the same cops he talked down to so it was over very fast!!!! We later checked the credit card and he charged us $52 for 24 hours on both mopeds AND $400 for damages! Needless to say, we disputed the charges, reported him and this business to the BBB and will fight this if we have to go that far. DO NOT trust this man and business. Its a big scam and could be very dangerous. Paradise rentals just a block up has way better deals and mopeds and they are very well maintained. Learn from my mistakes and do not rent here!!! read more

Beware!!! Asian lady here is a b%#h!! They told us one price n didnt honor it. So we rented 3 scootcars anyway. We rented for 4 hours and after the second hour i heard a crazy noise then it broke. Stranded on the side of the hot sun with my kids. They brought a replacement in about an hour but that one had the same noise so didnt wanna chance breaking down so we returned it early. My girlfriend and I rented a tandem bicycle here on Wednesday and the experience was OK. I must first give them credit for having a tandem bike in the first place--nobody else we called did. The guy was nice enough and provided free lock (u-lock + cable) and decent (barely) helmets. The brakes were poorly adjusted and he wasn't keen on dealing with that, but at least he handed me an allen wrench so I could adjust those and the seat height. The bike had minor issues, but was in fine shape for a rental. I came at 1pm and he said the cost was $30 to have it until their (early IMHO) closing time of 5pm or $35 for 24 hours. I said four hours would probably be enough, but I wasn't certain. He charged me the 24-hour fee, but I got the impression I could get the extra $5 back if I returned it by 5. Wrong! We only had the bike out four hours (returned at 5), but he said we still had to pay the 24-hour fee. It's only $5, but kind of soured my experience. I'd go back here if I needed a tandem bike again (because they're the only place we could find which has one), but I'd rent a normal bicycle or scooter (their main business) elsewhere. On a side note, Oahu (and especially Waikiki) is not very bicycle friendly. Bike lanes and trails were relatively hard to come by, even when we used Google Maps to find the best bike routes. That's a bummer because the climate and terrain would be perfect for it. Folks who are used to riding in (car) traffic should be OK though, and they do at least have bike racks. read more

Rented a BMW scooter and spent the day cruising the island; put on over 100 miles. What a great whay to explore the island & spend a beautiful sunshiny day in HI. Some bad reviews had me questioning using this business but I did not experience any of the issues other YELPER's had. I took photos of the scooter prior to leaving to make sure there were no issues at the time of return. Overall a good experience and Steve was great. read more

We had to rent the scootcar! We opted for the 3 hour rental for 65. Honestly we would have been content with 2 hours. Anyway they're pretty easy to operate. There is no reverse on these bad boys. If you know much about vacation you know its all about the experiences. I rented a moped from this company and the transaction went smooth, no problems, and staff were extremely friendly. I rented it about 2:00 PM in the afternoon and wanted to have it all day, most places said return by 6:30PM, well that's not exactly what I wanted since I was going to be traveling all the way to Hanama Bay and wanted to cruise the coastline for the sunset. This company allowed me to return it up until 10:00PM. My cost was only $55 which included all I needed, (2 helmets, however it was a single rider moped, but my friend had his own bike and could have a passenger so they let me borrow another helmet for my son.) The $55 also included $10 insurance, I always buy the insurance. On top of having a wonderful transaction the Moped itself really kicked butt. Most Mopeds top out at 35MPH, well I was able to cruise the expressways and at times could hit up to 50MPH (not recommended for beginners, and really that was with the wind at my back), don't let the MPH scare you I had to try to keep up with my friend who had a 150CC bike, and I did just fine. They have all kinds of different items to chose from so don't hesitate to stop in here 1st before you try another place that hardly takes care of their equipment. This place had clean updated vehicles and there is something for individuals, groups, and all different types of stuff your looking for. The location I went to was at 2413 Kuhio, don't miss it because its a little hard to find, tucked in a corner under a building/Hotel/Structure One last thing is I dropped my pair of Oakley sunglasses behind one of their Bikes during the rental process, I didn't realize it for an hour, after searching around the entire house I called the company, The man told me he was on his way back to the place and would let me know. These were no dollar store glasses, so I'm thinking no way someone is going to turn these in, these could be sold for 4 times my rental price. Sure enough there are good people out there. The man said he found my glasses and I could come grab them anytime. I was so relived and it just goes to show good people make good business decisions, so if you want an honest place to rent, I give them 2 thumbs up. read more

I do not write reviews but felt compelled to share our great experience with this rental company. Rented a scooter car for our honeymoon. The owner was great. Very helpful. Let us test drive it before we rented. Very easy to drive. Great on gas. Easy to park. Cheaper than renting a convertible for the day. We drove around the diamond head area and were very pleased with the views. Recommend bringing a Bluetooth speaker for music, camera, and sunscreen. Plenty of room to store personal belongings. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE !!!! The guy that runs this place - Steve- is a horrible person and his mopeds are NOT maintained . he is negligent to say the least .. they are old and in terrible shape. We rented 2 mopeds and realized that they were in bad shape right away ... We almost had an accident and called to take the bikes back. He wouldn't refund our rental cost.... we were out for all of 15 -20 minutes (would have been shorter but the bike had to be walked back to the shop) He charged us full day rentals and claimed we damaged the bikes. He charge my credit card $400 for repairs ... I have no idea what he is claiming we did to the bikes. We had to call the cops ... HUGE nightmare..... We went back to the shop to return keyes and take photos and the "damaged" moped that needed $400 worth of repair was right back on the lot to be rented .....
