We really enjoy the bikes we purchased from Ebikes Hawaii. We invested about $8k in two e-cargo bikes, and the sales experience itself was positive. A few months after purchase, we needed to ship our new bikes from Honolulu to Kona. The large batteries made shipping difficult, and I reached out to Ebikes Hawaii for guidance. Their sales manager, Dominic, mentioned that he had recently made the same trip in reverse (Kona to Honolulu) and offered to help with transport. Over the phone, he quoted us $125 per bike to ship them from Honolulu to Kona. When we went to Young Brothers to pick up the bikes using the information provided by Ebikes Hawaii, we were informed of an additional shipment charge. This was surprising, as we believed we had already paid for shipping. After calling to clarify, we were told that the amount we paid covered only the packaging and drop-off, not the actual shipment. Although Dominic was polite during our follow-up conversations, the misunderstanding was never acknowledged or resolved. Given the amount we've spent, this was disappointing and left us feeling that they did not act in good faith. I would advise future customers to verify every detail in writing and not assume that verbal quotes or guidance will be accurate. Our post-purchase experience left us with serious concerns about the reliability of their service. Looking back, we would have gone with Bike Factory instead. read more

Lemon and Poor customer service. My son bought a ebox 2.0 v2 in the beginning of January. The motor broke in late March. It is May 1st today and ebikes still has my sons bike. They told me it would be fixed weeks ago. A batch of motors (3 or them) came in and they didn't fix my sons bike. They said my son was 5th in line to get his bike fixed.. they did not tell me this the first time around. I follow up weekly and they tell me they will call me back with shipping updates and never do. There is poor communication with the sales dept and service dept. Im very unhappy with there customer service and with the fact that my sons bike broke when it was 3 months old. Won't be buying a e-bike from this company in the future. Just to note they will be fixing the bike under warranty and we will not be charged for parts or labor. I am complaining about the lack of communication, the follow up to make the customer happy, and the fact that I spent $2150 and my sons bike has been in the shop for a month and he didn't have his Christmas present. read more

$5400 for a Lemon - After spending $5400 on a Sur Ron Light Bee X at eBikes Hawaii, I was left stranded with a dead battery and abysmal customer service. While the bike was initially fantastic, the battery failed after only 600 miles. eBikes Hawaii misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $30 for a fix that did not work, then gave me the runaround for four months while trying to claim the warranty. They ultimately offered no solution except to buy a new battery with 20% less range at an exorbitant price - $2000! Despite numerous visits and calls, they failed to provide support or follow through with repairs. Their mechanic Sammy contacted me that the part was ordered and said after its installed and tested he will call to pick up. Went to pick my ebike and it operated like new. Terrible service. Homophobic company. They sold me a lemon. I was sold an ebike that's defective off their floor. I brought it in for service 2 weeks after purchasing. They charged me $ and they were rude. I kept having problems with the bike. From the breaks not working the throttle not working etc... I was accosted in the street by one of their employees. They yelled at me and I was called faggot for no reason. He said never to go to his store he doesn't like faggots and mocked me for having ebike problems. I highly discourage anyone from doing any business here. I will be opening a report with the BBB and I will be speaking with my attorney to see about filing a lawsuit against this bigoted and unethical company. I called ahead and explained my situation: I'm fat, I'm lazy and I have a HUGE head. Ebikes asked me, How fat? I lied and said 250 lbs. I was surprised when they said OK. They asked me, How lazy? I told them I don't want to pedal At All. They said No Problem. Then they told me they even had helmets for people with gigantic heads. Ok, now I'm really skeptical. I pressed them for details. I told them I wanted to drive their electric bike up to Diamond Head, and I didn't want to pedal. Could their Ebike really haul my fat ass all the way up there? Yeah, they said, no problem. I asked how long the battery charge lasted. They explained the batteries have plenty of juice, and the you can extend the range if you pedal a bit. I reminded them I wasn't planning on doing any pedaling, and asked again if the Ebike was going to have enough power to haul me around and enough battery life to cruise around for hours. They assured me I had nothing to worry about. Amazingly, everything they said was true. If you don't want to pedal, you don't have to. The batteries have plenty of power. There are LED indicators to let you monitor how much battery life you have left, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck somewhere (or having to actually pedal, LOL). I was concerned the Ebikes would be difficult for me to operate because I'm mechanically inept and physically uncoordinated. I was surprised how easy they are to operate. They set you up with a helmet and provide bike locks and chains to secure your ride if you want to park it. I was relieved they actually had a helmet that fit my massive head. Ebikes Hawaii provides customers a map that shows you the best places to ride. There is an extensive protected bike pathway that allows you to ride away from street traffic, including a loop that goes all around and up to Diamond Head. That's where we headed first. Between the Ebikes office and the protected bike path you have to ride for a few blocks through the neighborhood. I was impressed that the bike was fast enough that I could keep up with traffic, even riding uphill. You pass through a tunnel right before you enter Diamond Head State Park, and I didn't have to worry about getting run off the road. I sped right through. Inside the park we pulled into the parking lot and got off the bikes to take a few pictures. When I climbed back on the bike, I discovered I had a flat tire. Damn! Fortunately I had pastries in my backpack. I took out the Spanish Rolls we bought from Nanding's Bakery. A couple bites in, I knew everything was going to be all right. With my nerves now steadied, I called the office. They delivered a replacement bike about a half hour later. Back on the road we headed over to the nearby Kahala to see what that was all about. We marveled at the gorgeous estates. Really enjoyed our leisurely bike ride through the neighborhood. We stopped to look at the map near Leahi Beach and a super friendly local guy came over and asked us if we needed directions. He shared his recommendations on what to see in the area. Thanks, local guy! So much beautiful aloha spirit. The loop that circles Diamond Head takes you to an amazing vantage point on the cliffs facing the ocean. From your bird's eye view you can observe surfers swimming out from the beach below. You watch thirty or more paddle out and assemble across the wide break, each waiting patiently for just the right wave. No one is in any hurry. Surfing reminds me of fishing. Lots of waiting, then a couple minutes of intense excitement. By now we had been riding around a couple hours. Checked the battery indicator and there was plenty of juice left. We were getting hungry so we stopped for lunch at Sunny Days. Highly, highly recommended! After lunch we headed over to Waikiki Beach. On the way we checked out the scene at Kapiolani Park. I really enjoyed watching the tightrope walkers. All this driving around, up and down Diamond Head, over to Kahala, back over to Waikiki and downtown and the Ebike STILL had plenty of battery life left. SCAM!!! Everyone with good reviews is just high off the fact they bought a new toy. Either the people who do their service are unqualified idiots or they're intentionally scamming people. My Segway Ninebot MAX G30P had a busted back tired that lost it's seal on the wheel and also started leaking some sealant. I didn't have the time or money to tend to it myself so just thought I'd take it into a shop, get a new clean tire, pay the premium and call it a day. The original quote was $110. $60 for tire and $50 for service and could have been finished by the weekend. A little over a week goes by with no word on how my scooter is doing and all of a sudden the motor has somehow been fried and they're waiting for a replacement from Segway but Segway aren't responding to them. On top of that the new motor will cost an extra $200. I literally rode up to the store on my wonky scooter and the motor was fine. I had also cleaned enough of the sealant off but when I got it back part of the rim was dirty again in a weird way. The guy also tries to tell me that these scooters don't come with sealant and that my little ass motor was actually hot enough to melt a rubber tire and so the goop is melted tire and not leaking sealant (which is a common problem for these scooters) so I just say I'm sick of this and go to pick it up. My service fee is now $60 instead of $50!? And there were pieces from my scooter missing. As I put it in the car I noticed the cap to pump up the tire was gone so I quickly ran back in and grabbed it but when I got home realized that my side reflector caps that cover the nut where the motor goes were missing. They also returned it with the motor detached so I can't even test it out to see if they were bullshitting or somehow fried it in the shop. Overall, their customer service seemed rather indifferent and didn't really care at all about what was going on and didn't seem very professional or felt like they knew what they were doing. Don't bother coming to this store!!! You have been warned. read more

After talking online with his father (Kapolei shop) we came to test ride to Campbell location. The sad excuse for a person working there refused, coming up with bs stories - even though we confirmed before coming. My girlfriend is Japanese so she was totally shocked by the incompetence and self-destructing attitude of this person. We went to Bike Factory in Kakaako right after - where we had no appointment. They were super friendly and without any problems let us test ride their Unagi scooters. We bought two from them. Just bought my first ebike, Aventon Pace 350. I'm 66 years old and this bike is awesome! I live up a steep hill and although I really need to peddle pretty hard I can make the 3/4 mile climb without stopping. The bike has way plenty of power on flat and small hills. I went around 10 miles using a lot of throttle and pedal assist just to see how much power I would use and the battery went down only about 20%. The Aventon 350 looks cool too. I bought a Groupon as a surprise for my partner and me because I had been going on and on and on about how I want to go bike riding! Neither one of us had been on a regular bicycle in years so this seemed like a pretty enticing adventure! Plus, you can't go wrong with a Groupon deal. I'm glad I checked the fine print on the Groupon because you do need to schedule your rental at least 24 hours in advance. They offer half day (4 hours) and full day rentals as well as ebike sales and repair. I just can't believe I didn't know about this place before! I wish they had a frequent rider program because I would come back week after week. I could just buy my own ebike, but I could use that money for a down payment on a car ha! So we booked for Monday, Memorial Day. When we arrived, there was a parking stall on the side of the building reserved especially for patrons of Ebikes Hawaii. We approached the door and the sign said closed! But guess what? Mondays are by appointment only so our awesome helper came up to the front and unlocked the door for us. His name was Roy and we couldn't have asked for better customer service! He came in on his otherwise day off for our reservation! As per every rental, we had to leave a refundable credit card deposit of $300 per bike. I'm a poor vet tech so I had to divvy up the $600 between numerous credit cards. Roy was completely understanding and didn't make me feel like a lesser person for it. Once the paperwork was signed, ID cards shown and pictures taken of them, Roy gave us the run down of the bikes. Unfortunately for my partner, they didn't have the Zen Uno available for her that day like the Groupon had promised. Instead, she got stuck with what we would later find out was a much inferior bike to the Uno that I was lucky enough to ride. We had the time of our lives that day. We rode out to Kahala, up, in, and around around Diamond Head, and made a few lovely pit stops. We rode around Kapiolani Park a few times, the last time we switched bikes and that's when we both realized the huge difference between our bikes. Wow. Never again will we rent whatever bike she had. Don't let non-ebike riders talk you out of riding an ebike. That false rumor that you don't actually have to work much to ride an ebike is a fallacy! Yes, it definitely helps a bit especially going up hill and they do have a bit of a kick to them, but you still have to pedal!! We were both sore the next day. So it's definitely a workout, but not as awful as it would have been without the power! I truly can't wait to rent from them again. I keep waiting for another Groupon deal to pop up... read more

I bought my first ebike back in October. I was looking at the Magnum Metro S for my needs (wanted something with carrying capacity, while also able to get up the steep hill I live on). They didn't carry this bike in stock, but special ordered it for me. I received it about a month after ordering it and it's a great bike! Just did the complimentary tune up and they finished it in half a day. Ryan and Scott are very knowledgable and answered all my questions, and Iniki and Ryan was super helpful and very responsive via email, keeping me informed of my order status and any delays. Ok these electric bikes are SO much fun!! My father and I rented to bike up to Diamond Head. He's a Vietnam Vet with a recent knee surgery and well I'm not great at going up hills on a bike. These E bikes did the trick while still getting to pedal and ride on more level surfaces. They require a hefty "deposit" hold via credit card which neither of us had. I did have a large amount of cash they we worked out to be held and was simply returned once we brought the bikes back safe and sound. I was concerned about possible theft and the guy gave us the main locks for each bike and a third. The price point is surprisingly in line with standard bike rentals. The location is a tad off the beaten path from Waikiki but a short and easy busy ride will drop you off right around the corner from the rental shop. I wish I had taken a picture of us while using these super fun bikes! I'd absolutely rent again!! read more

Love this bike shop! When I arrived on island earlier this year I finally had the opportunity to experience a Brompton thanks to Ebikes Hawaii. Roy was very kind and knowledgeable, I was able to test ride, and loved the bicycle immediately. Despite that, I wasn't quite ready to buy as we hadn't settled in yet. Roy didn't pressure me in any way and sent me off with their business card. A few months later, I was finally able and ready to purchase. I knew I wanted to return to their Kaimuki location because of my great experience the first time. Roy remembered me despite not having spoken since our first walk-in. Ordering was painless, and he was very kind to check in about all the ready to ship Brommies as well as inform me about the ones incoming to the shop.
