So I damaged my rear carbon fiber Reserve wheel. I called up reserve to see about a warranty replacement. I took a photo and they sent out a replacement but it needed to be built using my old hub. So they had me go to a local Cervelo dealer with a claim number that would bill them for the labor. I sent Boca a note and the owner got back to me quickly saying that he had two great in house wheel builders. Perfect. So I went to drop off my wheel on a Saturday. The guy at the counter seemed confused because I was doing warranty work on a wheel not purchased at Boca. So I explained to him Reserve is a Cervelo brand. And Reserve gave me a claim number they could input in their computer to have the labor paid for since I supplied all the parts. He still seemed a bit uncertain but he took the wheels (new and damaged). I filled out a slip but didn't receive a receipt, which made me a little uneasy since this was my first time in the store. He said 2-4 days. Not hearing from Boca, I called the following Friday. The guy who answered had no idea what I was talking about and just said it would be another couple of days. So I'm legit worried now. I emailed Boca again just to ensure I did everything right (no response this time). But I get a call back later that day from Boca--I guess the guy went into the back to look for my wheel or whatever--and he's like they're just waiting on Cervelo to give them the ok to do the claim so that their builder gets paid. I was like Reserve gave me a claim number and I wrote it on the slip I had to fill out (and in my email). The next Tuesday/Wednesday, I receive a call from Boca saying the wheel was ready for pickup. So a week and a half versus the 2-4 days I was originally promised. I'm sure the delay had everything to do with the whole claim system or whatever for the labor cost. But I'm out riding again. The wheel feels great so far. I have zero complaints. I think the builder did a great job and I'm glad they were able to sort out whatever they needed to so I could get back on the road. If I was in the market for a Cervelo, I'd definitely give Boca my business. Mostly pleasant experience. But I would have preferred to get some sort of receipt when I dropped off my wheels initially. read more

I am brand new to cycling and recently purchased a pre-owned bike off of Facebook marketplace. Thought that what I bought would be the right size for me and rode it for about 3 months but never got fitted properly. It was uncomfortable for me to ride any longer than a half hour on my trainer so I decided to go get fitted. I got referred to BOCA Hawaii by two friends of mine who are townies and called to schedule a fitting which was really easy. Brought my bike, bike shorts, and cycling shoes. The gentleman that helped me was Ray and he was very professional, polite, respectful, and highly knowledgeable. He immediately let me know that the bike seemed small for me but was willing to help as much as he could with getting me close to where I needed to be to ride somewhat comfortably. It took him about 10-15 minutes total to adjust my cleats, seat height, saddle fore/aft, and handlebars. I noticed a positive difference immediately, however he let me know that it would not be as comfortable for me as sizing up a bike. I had reached the adjustment limits for my bike frame. All in all, a good experience, and I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a bike fitting or reputable shop in the Honolulu area. read more

In this Covid-19 times I'm so glad to see that you still can get Great service at a Great price. I've always seen the BOCA Hawai'i building as I past by, it's hard to miss with all those bikes parked out in front. I thought to myself, I've got to check out this place, but I'm not a triathlon guy and assumed that BOCA only catered to triathlon athletes. I was wrong as they hold Spin and Triathlon classes, sell and repair bikes, also will bike fit anyone regardless if you purchased it from them or not. I was super impressed by the amount of inventory packed into this small shop. I think they actually have just about everything one would need for a bike. Even more than the other bike shops as far as accessories and wear. Recently I picked up another road bike and decided this time I'm going to do it right and get fitted correctly. If you ever got fitted you know that you can pay upwards to $250+. I emailed Raul over a month back to get a price for a fitting for my other bike and he responded with terrific prices ($40-$100).Prices vary on how advance the fitting gets. So with this new ride it was a no brainer to go with him. It's as easy as calling or emailing him for a appointment. Nervously rode down to the store for my appointment because I never had someone fit me. I've always did the basic measurements by myself and never thought anything about it, but there is a difference when you have it done correctly. Your body alignment, legs and arm reach get set up as it should be when riding and the chances of injuries are decreased. Raul reminded me to bring your helmet and shoes. The Cold AC it felt so good while riding my bike that they set up on the trainer. Raul (Owner) was so friendly and personable it really made me relax and enjoy getting fitted. He did some Seat height, positioning, handle bar angle, shoe cleat position to get the right peddling strokes and other small adjustments to get everything running smoothly. Like Raul said, every millimeter makes a difference. I love the feel of my bike after the fitting, looking forward to get some miles in. I highly recommend that you get a bike fit for your ride to avoid injuries and to get the maximum potential out of it. We bought his and hers road bikes from Boca yesterday. It wasn't an impulse buy... my boyfriend and I looked at 3 bike shops: this place, Bikeworks and McCullys. He went to one more bike shop the day prior... We ended back at Boca at the end of taking everything into consideration. Everything about Boca screams bike enthusiast and knowledgeability. Ray was the first guy who helped us-- he was actually behind the counter fixing a bike and he didn't try to sell us on anything - he listened to what my boyfriend wanted (beginner road bike to work out on mainly to go up and down Tantalus). During the test ride, he watched and answered questions. We even left him saying we were going to shop around and he didn't try any sales tactics (nice)! Well, we came back! And my boyfriend decided well, I should get a bike too so we can work out together (so sweet). Sure I like Raul and Hina (I'm assuming the owners of the shop) but Ray is the star of the shop (in my humble opinion). He told us he has been riding for almost 29 years - love it when someone who is an enthusiast is at a shop that is not an aggressive salesperson. There are several bike shops on Oahu and Boca is one of the best ones. Because it has the family-run feeling ohana that cares. The only downfall is lack of parking. I usually go after work and park in front of a warehouse next door that closed for the day. This is why I started going to other bike shops, to my chagrin. I have been researching ebikes for about 6 months and test ridden, Haibike, Trek, Schwins, etc...which should give you an idea of which stores I visited, not to mention numerous websites, marketplaces, etc...Today was looking to be just another "kicking the tires" kind of day until we walked into BOCA. We were immediately greeted and welcomed by Scott. He was very professional and he was not being a "pushy" salesperson but rather exuded a willingness to address my concerns about an EMNB. He asked me if I wanted to take the Scott Strike 930 out for a spin, which I did and was pleasantly surprised by feel, fit, and handling. Upon my return, Raul, the owner had entered the store and introduced himself. It was clear where Scott's attitude came from because Raul was very accommodating, professional, and informative. The vibe was very cool throughout this encounter and I ended up buying my first ebike, the Scott Strike 930 and other accessories that was given to me as a gift. The people here take their jobs and knowledge of their profession seriously. No joke, there I was getting a 20 minute lesson on the mechanics of podiatry. I was referred to Boca by a friend because I kept having problems with my feet while running. I had previously run 2 marathons before and couldn't understand the issue. So I brought my shoes in (Nike) and immediately they understood the issue and how to remedy it. Once they picked out the right shoe (designed for ultra marathon runners) I tried it on and felt like I was walking on air. I did a quick little jog in the store and boom, ended up nearly flying through the wall. Thankfully I had done legs days prior and didn't kick it into full speed. The next day I ran 12.5 miles in my hoku's and felt 110%. The store: Back to the review, sorry. The store has everything and then some when it comes to marathon running. I picked up a few organic energy "goo" packets and looked at some of their other stuff as well. They carry a variety of bicycle and other physical fitness equipment for the elite athlete as well. Chris was extremely helpful and I highly recommend this place to anyone. Parking is right next to the place and Honolulu beer works is right next door. And the store puppy is the bomb dignity. Chanced upon this place when I was picking up my Jingle Rock run package in Dec 2018. Rented a Kerstel Road bike from them. Cost me about $340 for 12 days. The bike is a little heavier. But it ran decent. Gears were a bit sluggish. Overall it was reasonable for the rental price. It came with helmet and bicycle lock rental. Great place with a really helpful staff. Everyone was ready and willing to answer all of my questions, but they also gave me space to explore. No one was trying to push me into buying a bike before I was ready. If you're interested in a bike, they will let you take it for a test drive around the area to make sure it's a good fit for you. They will also size you for free. The shop has a lot more to offer than just the store. They have classes and exercise groups you can sign up for, and their website is a wealth of info on what tri events are going on and what to prepare for. Unfortunately I never got to take advantage of any of this, but it's really cool that they've helped build a tri community. read more

My first time encounter with Boca Hawaii was for packet pick up at the shop. I joined the 2017 Bioastin Readiness series because I signed up for the Honolulu Marathon and I needed some structure and motivation to run. I figure signing up for the race series will help me prepare for the marathon. Boca Hawaii was sponsoring the first race in the series, the Norman Tamanaha 15 K (9 miles). 808 Race Hawaii took care of the pack up pick up at Boca Hawaii. While we are the shop there was a lot of merchandise not just for running but also for triathlon, running gel/fuel, massage rollers, clothes. They also have information about other races and training. I found out later Boca Hawaii is huge in the running community. Raul and this team helps 808 Race Hawaii with course set up and refreshments during the race. Raul gives pre race speeches at each race in the Bioastin Readiness Series and offers tips for safety. I've come to respect Boca Hawaii and love running now! read more

A cool little shop mostly catering to triathletes. Even so, they still have roadie gear and road bikes here, but not much compared to the other shops. What's unique about this place is I think they sell used bikes (which are obviously cheaper than their new ones), so they are the only shop that does that. Try not to mention online shopping when you're here though. I was shopping around for a Kestrel Tri bike, and as soon as I mentioned to Ray there that I might buy the same bike online, he suddenly seemed a lot more quiet than before I said that. Despite that, he still gave me advice on what size to buy, but I have a feeling he would've given more if I hadn't mentioned the online thing. Aside from that little incident, this shop has always done me right. Besides used bikes, they also have a small selection of used parts; I got my 40cm Bontrager ergo bars from them for around $30 I think, a worthwhile price to make my bike fit better. read more

So, I reviewed Boca once before with a 4 star review because I really like my bike (although I think I paid too much for it) and they did a good job with a small repair I needed. Roughly 3 months ago, I went to Boca to get a new tire for my road bike. I told them my budget was from $20-40 for a new tire and they sold me a tire (given to them from another biker from what I was told) for roughly $25. The tire they sold me was terrible. After I got two flats on it, I attempted to call and ask for a refund but the guy on the phone told me that "I got what I paid for". After my 4th flat (and spending roughly $30 on inner tubes), I finally went in and gave them back their paper thin tire. I went to a competitor and they educated me on the various tires I could use for my bike. I spent an extra $5 on my NEW tire and the quality of that tire is incredible. I haven't had a flat yet. If you can, shop around. Don't make the mistake I made by going to Boca Hawaii. I should have put this review up the day I gave their junk tire back. read more

My favorite bike shop. Ray is the "Scotty" of bike repair and fitting. They are willing to take the time to teach me how to keep the bike working so I can fix things on the road. The selection if new and used parts had really helped me get the bike I need at the price I can afford. I have taken many training clinics and the balance of intensity and development brings out the best in all the clinic participants. Went to Boca because of someone on Instagram recommendation. We knew what we wanted and purchased our Hoka shoes but we won't be returning anytime soon. The service was terrible. No greeting when we walked in. We were looking for shoes, no help with what we were looking for or size. My husband tried to talk to the sales guy by telling him we were doing the marathon but he couldn't be bothered. If that's how they run a business fine. The airline had shipped my bike after a race and lost some parts and it needed help . I was looking to maximize ride time before Kona in a couple of weeks . His response was maybe at the end of the week . No alternative and no help . I could take it or leave it . So I left it . I went over to Pancho at Mcully and he worked on it and tried to help . I walked it over to Boca and the staff there fixed it up for me in 10 minutes, despite all of them trying to pack up to leave. It seems like a cool community and they have a good range of stuff. I decided to ride the Honolulu Century this past weekend and didn't want to schlep my bike on the plane to Hawaii. I sent and email to see if there were bikes available, however at the time of the inquiry they didn't. About a month later Raul emailed me and said they had a couple of cancellations so I jumped on it and reserved a Fuji Roubaix. I brought my own pedals and saddle and they installed and fitted them while we did the paperwork. They have really good bikes for rentals that are in great condition. Most of the time when you rent a bike they have super cheap components and are in disrepair. Not these. Rode the 100 miles in driving rain and wind without any problems. Brought the bikes back and apologized for how filthy they were. The staff there was excellent and really know their stuff. I highly recommend these folks if you need to rent a good road bike in Honolulu. You're probably asking why not 5 stars? Well, they had a solid 4 stars. If you read my reviews 5 stars are pretty tough to get and only the best of the best get that rating. If a review has 4 stars, you'll be very satisfied with their products and services.
