It was my first time at parada and can't believe I hadn't been before. I love Puerto Rican food because it's so homey and reminds me of food I eat at home. We went in on Fourth of July for lunch and it wasn't too busy. We were greeted and sat immediately . We ordered two plates of mofongo de pernil, camarones a la criolla and a plate of chicharron de pollo. It was so good! The pernil was doused in a creamy sauce, the rice and the beans were so flavorful and their maduro frito was ripe and sweet. The chicharron de pollo was so crunchy and juicy and that plate came with tostones. The camarones were in a very tasty sauce and had all the same sides. Ugh! Visited this restaurant with my friend recently and absolutely loved the food here!! We shared the Chicharrones de Pollo and Pollo Encebollado and both dishes were great. If I had to choose one to recommend, I would definitely go with the Pollo Encebollado since I felt like it had some more flavor and it was paired with caramelized onions. It wasn't too busy since we visited on a weekday so service was super quick. Ambiance was nice as well. read more

My last meal in SF and I couldn't have been happier. We ordered so many different plates to try that the biggest table they had couldn't fit us all. Having tried their most recommended and popular dishes, we decided that everything was so full of different flavors and textures, it was hard to just choose one. I loved the fried chicken and the friend plantains! So crispy and perfectly fried. We also tried the flan and mango cake which were good too. Overall this place gets packed and for good reasons, the food is definitely something unique and worth the try! read more

3.5/5 A cute Puerto Rican restaurant in Haight-Ashbury! The service is a bit slow and the waiter sometimes like to mess with you LOL. My friends and I came on a Sunday and we got seated immediately. I've tried the Sampler (4/5 this dish is HUGE and lots of flavorful meat) and the Bistec Sandwich (2/5 very dry and the steak is overdone). read more

The mofongo is excellent and so is the fried chicken aka chicharrones de pollo. If you have a picky kid that only likes chicken nuggets or chicken tenders then they will most likely enjoy the fried chicken. The yuca fries are pretty good too. The place is cute, kinda small, and has lots of art and photos on the wall to look at while you're waiting for your food. If I have tourists with me in the Haight area, then I would most likely bring them here for the food and ambiance. read more

Great food! Be ready to eat meat heavy. This is not for the vegetarian crowd. Beef and pork heavy - cooked to perfection. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Generous portions. The wait time can be long if one comes late in the evening. Small restaurant. Will feel crammed and it will be loud. It was a fun experience to eat here. read more

Parada 22 was the perfect spot for me and my Puerto Rican friend, who had plans for the night. I'd like to point out that even though the restaurant is relatively small, the cleanliness and attentiveness to its physical appearance is to not ignore. I felt like the ambiance was perfect for a Puerto Rican dish Once we found seating, our waiter helped us navigate the menu. I ordered the Mofongo con Camarones, which is a Puerto Rican dish composed of mashed plantains and shrimp. Ma boiii settled for the Fried Chicken dinner plate, which included generous sides. What an awesome place. Best dang breakfast I've had in years. The plantains were so delicious along with the red beans. Let me tell you about the house hot sauce. Best flavor in a hot sauce I've ever had. I am a hot sauce guy , so that is quite the compliment. Love this place. Right next door to Amoeba in the haight. Must try and the prices are amazing. I haven't had a ton of Puerto Rican food in my lifetime, so can't really speak to the authenticity of this place. However, I can appreciate good food when I taste it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and options at Parada 22. After walking my dog around the nearby park, we stopped here on a warm Thursday afternoon around 7pm. The staff was friendly. While several tables in the restaurant were occupied, we were able to grab an outdoor table right away. The restaurant is casual and cozy, with about 40 seats inside and 3 small parklets outside. *Drinks* We got a sweet iced tea and a homemade lemonade. ($4 each) Both were pretty sweet - not the healthiest, but delicious and so refreshing on a warm day! *Food* - We shared everything. - Sampler ($22) It came with a nice assortment of dishes. It came with pernil asado (slow roasted pork), chicharrones de polo (fried chicken), maduros (plantains) and yuca al mojo (deep fried yuca patties). I was eyeing the full sized pernil asado but ultimately was glad we didn't order it as a main because the sampler came with a nice portion and we were also able to have a little bit of everything else too. - Pollo a la criolla ($19) Really flavorful and moist. It also was served on top of some greens and sides of rice, beans and maduros (plantains). We also asked for hot sauce, which seems homemade and added a nice amount of heat to the meal. The service was friendly, food was tasty and portions were well-sized. I'm excited to come back for happy hour another time. Parking is mostly metered nearby. A plus they have outdoor parklets, making it dog-friendly! There are also lots of shops, bars, snacks/desserts and other restaurants all within walking distance from here. read more

Went for HH and got the $25 sampler plate + a glass of sangria or beer, which was a great deal considering the generous amount of food included. The sampler included fried chicken, maduros (plantains), tostones, yuca al mojo, and roast pork shoulder. It came with a really delicious aoli-like dipping sauce and the server gave us some very tasty hot sauce as well. I really enjoyed being able to sample a variety of foods and all we're quite good. The fried chicken, especially with the dipping sauce, was really good. I didn't love the yuca al mojo - it had some fibrous pieces that were very hard to chew. The pork was very soft and moist but could've used more salt; however, in combo with the hot sauce or dipping sauce, it was still great. Overall, a really solid sampler plate to get during HH, I'd definitely go back to try some of the other dishes. read more

PARADA 22 IS SO SO GOOD. Ive only tried two of the dishes at this restaurant but I already know this place is worth raving about. My friend and I stopped in around 5:45pm on a Friday and were seated right away. The vibe is vibrant, colorful, and cheerful. Sangria- 5/5 fruity and fresh! We started with a glass each. If I hadn't been driving I definitely would have gone for the pitcher as it's not that much more expensive. Chicharonnes de pollo- 4/5 fried chicken was a bit drier, but the overall balance of the chicken, rice, beans, salad, and plantains makes for a great meal. Mofongo- 5/5!!!!!!!! Was recommended this dish by a friend and it just might be one of the best dishes I've ever had. I've never had this dish before, so I can't compare it to other places, but we got it with the steak, and that with the mashed green plantains, however they made it, is just perfection. Actually a meal I will be thinking about until I can go back. read more

Casual place w authentic puerto rican food!! Generous portion sizes as well (was able to share a sampler and arroz between two people) Food was all around delicious, I simply could not decide between many of the entree dishes so the waiter recommend getting the sampler to try a little bit of everything (it came with fried chicken, slow roasted pork, plantains, and tostones). Puerto Rican food in SF?! This was the perfect lunch spot after a run right next to Golden Gate Park on Haight. The vibes felt homey and the service was really great. We tried the mofongo with marinated chicken over mashed green plantains and veggies. The sauce on the mofongo was packed with flavor and tasted great with the yellow rice. Soooo good! We also tried the pernil asado which was also really good. The marinated pork was so tender. Make sure you ask for hot sauce and add it to your plate. Mice infestation that needs to be taken care of. The mice were running around the whole time we were having dinner. We saw at least seven come out which means there are tens more inside the wall and under the boards. The food may be decent but this is atrocious. They need to address this asap. I told the waiter who acted like they had never seen one. They were scurrying up and down the kitchen the whole time he was walking to and from the tables to the kitchen. Talk about authenticity might have been carried too far. read more

First time at a Puerto Rican restaurant and it really did not disappoint. The restaurant is very homey with lots of pieces of Puerto Rico on the wall and a big flag hanging. The service was amazing! I had a Pastelon plate and it was soooo freaking good! I'm Colombian so we eat a lot of platano maduro so this really hit the spot with the ground beef in it and the veggie it was the right amount of savory and sweet! Second time trying Parada 22, and their food was so much tastier! We got the Mofongo with shrimp and the sampler. Every item on the sampler was great, we especially liked their pressed fried plantains. Overall, I noticed the dishes had a lot of starchy ingredients, so the sauces really does wonders. read more

Parada is one of those places that feels fancy but still totally comfortable. The vibe is warm and cozy, and the service is great without being over the top. The food is where it really shines. Every dish we tried was super flavorful and a little unexpected in the best way--creative without feeling too "out there." I was on the hunt for some great Puerto Rican food and came across Parada 22. All of the reviews seemed to be raving about this place so I decided to give it a try for myself. The inside of this restaurant is filled with lots of culture and history. As I walked in, I could feel the authentic love for food! I ordered the Pernil Asado and it had a perfect balance of flavors. The Pernil was some of the most tender pork, I had ever tasted and it had a subtle smokiness to it as well. I am a big fan of plantains and my only wish is that the plantains were a bit softer. The star of the dish for me was actually the rice. The rice has a great blend of flavors and seasonings and I could eat a whole bowl of this myself. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to get a good meal with authentic flavors! read more

We just had an amazing meal here! ! I was wanting to eat Peruvian food and we were in SF so I found this gem! Although it is not Peruvian but Puerto Rican it was so delicious! Server was great, His name was Eric, he was lots of laughs and our food was fantastic! I ate everything on my plate and that's rare! I even ordered more food and dessert! The ambience and decoration inside was really cool, and the service was good and reasonably quick. The chicken in the salad was delicious -- nicely seasoned and charred a bit on the grill. I felt they put too much dressing on the salad by default (I thought it would come with just the side cup) but this is pretty easy to fix. Yummy! read more

Our first time here, we ordered 2 dishes: the pollo and asado. Not sure how they do this but the pollo was so soft and tender and flavorful. The portions are pretty large. When we searched for the best restaurants in Haight-Ashbury this place kept coming up so we gave it a try. Right around lunch time it was not too busy - only one other group inside when we got there. The place is relatively small, only about 7 tables. I ordered the vegetarian platter and ate almost every bite. The dish comes with yuca al mojo - very tender and tasty - I think I'd only ever had yuca fried so this was different and really enjoyable. The dish also came with white rice (definitely seasoned and good), salad, a little cup of like a bean soup (that I could have had a full bowl of, not sure what it was) and plantains which are just the best thing any meal can come with. I was definitely full when we left. My husband ordered the pernil asado and the meat was super tender since I stole a few bites. The portions here are good and everything tasted great. Would highly recommend this restaurant either for dinner or lunch. read more

"Puerto Rican comfort food"--comfort is most definitely right! I love the flavors (gentle, subtle, warm), the very relaxed, casual vibes and vibrantly and cozily decorated interior, and the friendly, smiling waitstaff. It felt like being invited into a family for a home-cooked meal. Standouts include the pernil asado, fried chicken plate, and the sweet plantains. Get the plantains!! This staff is very friendly and provided great service. The restaurant features art and an ambiance reflective of its Puerto Rican cuisine. While my table enjoyed their food, the meal I ordered was not filling. I tried all of the food my table ordered also, and it was delicious. Established in 2010.

In 2009, the owner Philip, a Puerto Rican New York native was in Puerto Rico eating a plate of rice, beans, pork and mofongo and thought, "Why can't I find food like this in San Francisco?" So he called his cousin Gloria, a chef in San Juan, and together they created Parada 22. Parada 22 aims to recreate a classic Puerto Rican family meal, complete with Bomba y Plena music, laughter, and of course--Sangria!

I can't find on the Parada 22 site or on a bottle - but other Puerto Rican restaurants that sauce is "pique" - and yes, I think it's excellent as well.

Yes, in addition to IKEA's viral food court, there's so much more. Saluhall opened with all-vegan vendors but things have shifted back to meat and dairy. Case Borinquena is the last standing all-vegan stall. This is Caribbean soul food and it's so good. If you're looking for a salad or something light, this is not for you. This food will fill you up and leave you wanting more. Loaded Tostones is pumped up with nacho-ish toppings. Served with a thick and tasty mama sauce. I was dunking everything into that sauce. I opted for the side of tostones because I was craving the crunchy plantain. It was crisp perfection! Lulu's Famous Pastelillo filled with vegan beef or chicken was another winner for me. The dough was fried perfectly and I loved the chicken filling flavor. Chef's kiss. Coquito cake is on the menu! If you love eggnog, get this right now. I want to return for the sampler plate. At $20, it's cheaper than a flight to Puerto Rico. Pro-tip: first hour of parking is free!

Chicken was marinated very nicely and wasn't too dry. - Bistec encebollado: ordered the Large plate also which came with the same as above. Steak was cooked well and surprisingly tender enough to cut easily. Both plantains were good but I really liked the garlic one because it was different than the sweet plantains I'm used to.
