Besides the prices being very high, my main complaint is with the service department. I put in a pool heater (which requires a building permit). It was necessary to get two more propane tanks. Paraco did not install them properly and they failed inspection. Because they also took their sweet time with all of this, my building permit expired before I could have this corrected and it cost me another $600 to have it renewed plus $2000 to have another company come in to correct it. I decided to get my service from another company, and now Paraco has not come to pick up their old tanks which are sitting in my front yard for over a month. Firstly, they messed up their site for customer accounts. I am now on hold waiting to get through for over 40 minutes just to arrange delivery. If their site hadn't changed, I already could have ordered a delivery online and been done in 1 minute. Their pricing is not heap friendly. People get a certain heap allotment and it's either get a partial delivery to stay within the heap allotment or order a full delivery and go over heap allotment which will create a balance that has to be paid, unaffordable to many. NOW, I got down to one caller ahead of me, and now the call was disconnected!!!! read more

First year after buying a house with this tank already installed and the company already doing business with the previous homeowner I made the mistake to keep them. After the getting the contract and signing the contract for the first year we had some propane delivered. Second year in my state did not get too cold so we did not need or use any. This year has been colder so we had used 35 gallons so far this winter. This is my second source of heat for the house incase my power were to go out. They came and filled up our propane and then we get billed at $6.00 a gallon. When we checked prices is going for $2.75 to $3.25 in our area. But far from $6.00. This company decided to charge us more because we didn't buy propane from them last year so they raised our prices this year. We called them and had a few words to figure out why our price was so high, and they said its because if you don't buy a certain set amount of propane they can double or triple the going rate to make up for the other years. With this terrible business tactic, I decided to drop them instantly and get another company making sure this is the only company going to take advantage of me and my family. And the new company laughed and said they have gained so many new customers this year because of this company. I'm not the only one. So, we called them to have this tank picked up and service canceled. They are charging us 195 to cancel and will come pick up the tank. But they will not disconnect we would have to either do ourselves or have someone else come disconnect. And they offered a company that would come do it. So, what our we paying 195 for. They replied thats to come get the tank. I said well disconnecting is part of coming to pick up the tank. They have steadily penalized me for not using enough gas for over 6 years. I have 2 tanks used for cooking and heating and I get deliveries 2x a year. Since I do not use enough propane, I pay more...yada yada yada. Fine. But, when I place an order on Wednesday the 20th, and nowhere in that phone call was I told it could be five business days... When I've always had fuel within 48 hours of placing the order.. I never thought I'd be going into Thanksgiving on the 28th with no delivery yet. I asked a simple question about our water heater's use of gas and if it was normal amount of usage only on pilot light for the winter season we were not living there. They insisted someone come out and check for a leak even though I did not say anything about that and I told them not to send anyone. They don't tell you how much it will cost and I just got the bill today. They charged $390 plus sales and tax for a 5 minute check! It was also a huge hassle last summer to get them to change 2 100lb tanks for a 200lb tank so that I'd be able to check on the gauge and see how much is left. They installed gas lines and tanks for my generator 6 years ago when I sell my home I find out they never did a pressure check to close out permit. In May this year they did safety check said all was good. In August when I find out about open permit they come back. Pressure check no good! Several leaks . Worst customer service I've experienced in my life, by a wide margin. Moved to a new house where heat, hot water and stove are all propane. Paraco had the existing tank so we called to set up. About 30 minutes hold time each call, just to talk to someone who says another someone will call you. When they do, best don't miss it bc they don't leave a name or number - they hang up and you start the process of waiting on hold again. Finally get a hold of someone who says they can't supply until they inspect (money grab - they were servicing the same house weeks before) - but they can't come for another month, which is mid-January. This person has access to my meter but doesn't bother to tell me my tank is next to empty. It's now the day after Christmas and my house, including my 14-month-old, has been without heat and hot water for 4 days. It's getting down to 8 degrees tonight. When we call to ask for emergency delivery we get the inspection excuse, or passed around to different departments and "supervisors" who never answer messages. Just awful all around. Not just bad customer service but bad human beings. Can't wait for the girl who answers all the negative reviews with the same copy-paste response to assure me my review is "very concerning" and to call customer service like I haven't done that 14 times already. Total thieves !! we just had them fill up our tanks for the summer for our Generator and our Pool. And the bill looked unusually high. They are charging $5.23 per gallon! So we checked on ChatGPT and they said the average of the area should be between three and four dollars a gallon. I called Halsted Quinn and they said they are doing it at $3. 29 per gallon! It's egregious and worst part Is they hit their long-term customers with these rate hikes. Additionally, their customer service really blows. When you call you are put on hold forever. Called Paraco about a gas leak. Paraco sent over a technician, Dave, within a couple of hours. Dave was extremely professional. He checked the main tank, lines, valve behind the stove, and other areas behind the stove. He ran the burners and ovens and then took the time to explain everything he was doing and answered all of your questions. Dave's knowledge and professionalism put us at ease and pretty much rectified our concerns. He is certainly an asset to this company. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. In November, ordered gas and pre-paid on 11/27/24. Had 20% left in tank. They finally delivered on 12/8/24. So they had my funds for their use for 13 days. I didn't complain. I ordered gas and pre-paid on 1/2/25 because we ran out. My husband had a stroke and he handled outside the home and I handled inside. He no longer has the capability to do that. I called this morning at 11:05am and was told delivery would be today, 1/23/25. Tl;dr: If you want reliable, consistent propane delivery and acceptable customer service look elsewhere. Their drivers that do the actual deliveries are very nice, though. Been grandfathered into Paraco for propane when we bought our house in 2018. Right off the bat, their service is inconsistent. Sometimes you get two deliveries a week (each of course with a service charge of $9.99 + tax called "Safety/ECC"), sometimes nothing until the tank is below 20% full. Mildly infuriating because when it comes to basic utilities predictability is the name of the game. But fine, never mind. Fast forward to winter of 2020/21. We have several weeks of severe cold and snow in late January and February. Paraco delivers twice (?) in late January - first on Jan 22, second one on Jan 27 and merely tops off the tanks. As per information on my account, next delivery is scheduled for Feb 10. Feb 10 comes and goes, no Paraco. Ok, no problem, still plenty of gas left in the tank. A week later (Wed, Feb 17), winter storm is forecasted, still nothing from Paraco. I get a bit nervous, go to check the tanks. Below 20%. Hmm not good. I call customer service. They assure me that delivery is on the way and will arrive "today or tomorrow". Fine. Next day - Thursday - still no Paraco. Tank gauge reads below 15%. I call customer service again. They keep me on the line for several minutes while they check with dispatch. I am assured that I will get a delivery "today, or tomorrow at the very latest". Thursday passes, no Paraco. Friday passes, again - no Paraco. It is now Sat, Feb 20. The tank gauge reads below 5%. I call customer service at 8:31am, explain the situation and ask to speak to somebody who can tell me exactly when the propane delivery will arrive. I am told that I have to wait until 9am. "You have to understand, it is Saturday morning" - yes, I am aware it is Saturday morning and I also very well understand that I am about to run out of gas. I call the customer service again at 9am and directly ask to speak to a supervisor and/or somebody who can tell me exactly when the delivery will arrive. After stating account number and delivery address, I get the usual spiel "can you confirm your email address, your phone number, is this a mobile phone" instead of being connected to somebody who can tell me what is going on. I am put on hold again for several minutes while the customer service rep reaches out to the deliveries team. When the rep gets back on the line, I am told that she is "so sorry, but" no one from the deliveries team was picking up the phone. She refuses to let me talk directly to the supervisor for deliveries to get an update on when my delivery will arrive and claims she does not know the name of the person that I would need to talk to. Finally, she puts me in touch with her supervisor. Very pleasant man, yet very non-committal - gives several of the lines that I have heard before ("delivery will happen today"), provides a non-sensical explanation ("because the last delivery was only 44 gallons, our system determined that you would not need another delivery soon" - yes, delivery was only 44 gallons because the previous delivery was merely 5 days earlier), admits that deliveries were scheduled for earlier in the week but were cancelled on their side; some passive-aggressive fillers ("we can't control the weather") are added for good measure. Conversation ends with him guaranteeing that I will not run out of gas. Thank you very much, James. I feel totally assured now. Let's see what will happen. Nobody should have to wonder if a simple delivery of a very basic need - heat - will come through in the middle of the winter. It is 2021. Weather can be forecasted, available supplies can be estimated, routes can be scheduled, and customers can be kept in the loop of what is happening. I'd give them -5 stars if I could. Long story short, they refused to service my deceased father's account even though all payments were up to date. Yesterday they trespassed on my property, entered a locked gate, disconnected my tank and removed it. I specifically told them they did not have permission to come on the property and to provide proof that the tank belonged to them as it was not marked in any way. I also had approximately 40 gallons of propane in the tank that was paid for. No letters, calls, emails or even a knock on the door. They just came on my property and helped themselves. I have filed a police report and contacted the estate attorney. All could have been avoided if they had just made any effort to rectify the situation months ago. Instead, they demanded a death certificate and would only speak to the executor of the estate. I won't even get into what they are trying to pull on my primary residence. Terrible company. I picked up two propane tanks from Home Depot, on Wednesday, one is for a rental house and the other is for my home. Today, in order to provide a full tank for the incoming guests. After hooking it up I turned it on to make sure it was working, sadly the tank was leaking, to make sure it wasn't the valve I put the original tank on and no leak. I cleaned the propane tank connection to make sure no debris was causing the issue, no luck. I called Paraco to see what they would do, the woman who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, and could care less about my issue. She blamed Home Depot and the weather, claiming that when it's hot it will cause an issue with Paraco tanks. I asked if the tanks are pressure checked before leaving the facility, her response was yes but once it leaves they are not responsible. Most people probably know how to change a barbecue tank, some do not. The ones do not might panic and possibly cause the tank to ignite, and then tragedy! It is unacceptable that this woman represents this company and her dismissal of this issue is very concerning, it is a safety issue and perhaps they need better regulation. Her response was it's Home Depot's problem! Granted, issues arise, but the lack of professionalism and the failure of her offering me a solution to possibly rectify the situation, she just dismissed my concerns. I could not simply get in my car and drive back to Home Depot since the house is only accessible by boat. Beware!! All it takes is a moment of panic and your house is on fire or your being rushed to the emergency room. Now I have to find a more reliable and reputable company to provide my propane. Very sad the company does not put the safety of its customers as a priority, and the potential for the tanks to rupture according to this woman is very possible, since the way they are filled and stored. Had a good experience with Paraco. With a new on-demand water heater installed in our cottage's back shed, we were not sure how often to schedule gas deliveries so we estimated. A few months later water heater shut off and panel showed big red error messages. Because there was light smell of gas we decided it was prudent to call Paraco's emergency #. Within 15 minutes they were at our cottage. Technician Jason got us up and running in no time. Sure enough, all it was was that we were out of gas (whew!). He provided us with one tank to get us back with hot water & put in an order for a refill of the second tank. Now we know our gas usage - and to move our automatic delivery up a couple of weeks. read more

They are terrible and expensive. Customer service was frustrating at best. A couple notes -We ended up buying an induction stove, in part to get away from Paraco. At some point, we had leak and it always smelled like gas near the stove. They offered to send some out to check, possibly make repairs, at no mention of a charge. Two guys came in, tracked dirt through our house, and left within 5-10 minutes without fixing or changing anything. We were then charged around 250. We basically stopped using the stove and were waiting to get an induction from there. -Now that we finally are ready to get rid of them, they are charging...$200.00... just to come and take THEIR TANK back. Unbelievably poor customer service. Called on a Thursday because the remote tank monitoring system had failed and the tank is empty. They promised a callback. No call came, so I called again the next day. They promised me a call, and I got no call. I called again 4 hours later (12 noon), and they told me the service dept was in meetings till 2 PM, though I would get a call. I never got a call back. Called again Saturday and got same run around. They came out to our house for a preliminary visit and confirmed that everything looked good for tank delivery - just give them a few days notice when we were. Fast forward 2-3 weeks, when we were ready for delivery, and the sales rep, Stu, has ignored our calls, texts, emails, and multiple calls to the regional sales manager. The customer service is atrocious - and we're new customers trying to give them our $. I shudder at the thought of how difficult it would be to reach someone if we needed something after signing a contract. They made me pay for an inspection of their own tanks when I bought my home. That should have been a red flag. They didn't have confidence in the tanks they have been servicing for years under a prior owner. They missed a gas leak at said inspection that could have killed my family and gave me outrageous propane bills. To this day, they have done nothing to help. They have not come out to check the leak to make sure everything is okay with it. They have not considered giving me a credit for all the leaking gas that they were sending me bills for. This back and forth with them has gone on a month and a half with still no calls back. Sent receipt for fix of leak they missed that another company caught that was there hooking up a gas stove for me because Paraco couldn't get around to it. They didn't care. They are still sending me bills. I have cancelled my account and going with a new service provider. They are too small to give any kind of customer service let alone customer satisfaction. No communication. I canceled my service three weeks ago and they tried to deliver more propane three days ago. Luckily I was home to tell the tech to leave the prooperty. BEWARE!!! I purchased a property which had 2 Propane Tanks left from the old owner. I called Paraco (owner of the tanks) to start service with them but then decided to go with another company. Within 8 months time, I placed 4 appointments for them to pick up the tanks and credit me for the propane left in them (this is the law since I paid at my closing). Paraco neglected to make each of 4 appointments to pick them up. I called Paraco for the 5th time and was told by the Regional Manager that arrangements would be made. The very next day, Paraco charged my credit card for $456.34 for a "re-stocking fee" even though I've literally begged for them to take these tanks back for 8 months and they neglected to do so. The biggest problem with this, is that I'm NOT THEIR CUSTOMER! These tanks were leased by the previous property owner and I've never had a relationship with Paraco except for asking them to remove these tanks from my property. read more

They also make it difficult/expensive to leave. They have a sliding scale (that they will not reveal) so the less you use, the more you pay.
