Went to Parable this morning and fell in love with it! I found it on Yelp and the reviews drew me in. If I lived in Columbus, I would 100% go here all of the time! The vibe is immaculate with plants everywhere. You can come here and both have a matcha/coffee or a glass of wine/cocktail. I did not have a chance to partake in the alcoholic drinks (or happy hour that they have!) but the matcha and pastries were amazing! They make their matcha with a honey and lavender syrup which was just a tad sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The pastry I ordered was a muffin with cheese and herbs. This was huge and perfectly balanced. Although I did not need to eat the whole thing based on my hunger levels, I just couldn't resist!! I highly recommend coming here when in Columbus! read more

The first thing to note is that you are not looking for a sign that says Parable Coffee-- as it is a pop-up inside Comune. Look for a white building right on the street corner across from IGA. Parking can be a little difficult in this area of town, but I found a spot about a block away. The inside of the place is super cute, with lots of plants and white interior for a very well-lit, vibrant ambiance. Entirely appropriate for the morning when you're looking for a little pep. On this day I was all for pep, so I went with one of their seasonal creations-- a rosemary and cracked peppercorn latte with oat milk. We were served tableside in classy white coffee mugs, with the lattes featuring an insta-worthy foam leaf design that made it impossible not to snap a photo before taking a sip. It was absolutely everything an infused latte should be-- not too sweet, not too bitter, perfect mouthfeel, with a delicate infusion of the aforementioned herbs that didn't overpower the experience, but was still detectable. I'll definitely be back to this spot to try some of their other specials. read more

High Street location: The space has been nicely decorated with plenty of greenery and gen Z lighting. It feels very "for the gram". The clientele that's hanging out in their Birkenstocks, sweats, and laptop for hours on end probably feel like they're too cool for Columbus (I feel you). That's the whole vibe of the place. Oh, and the excessively loud music for a coffee shop. Sadly, I haven't found the coffee at Parable to be all that amazing. The seasonal specialty (guava) was tasteless. Parable feels less of an actual coffee shop for coffee snobs than it is for people who want fancy mediocre coffee whilst also feeling like they're doing good in the world by patronizing a place that encourages fair pay and price transparency. The saving grace is that they've partnered with Three Bites--a local POC owned bakery that provides great options for sustenance. Staff is also kind. Will have to give their drip coffee a fair chance next time as their latte was underwhelming. read more

Gem in downtown colobus near german village. Staff was the coolest, gave suggestions, recommendations, willing to chat, all had pleasant personalities. Matcha was wonderful! I'm a big matcha consumer so i'm picky about the flavor, consistency, temperature. They had an outstanding one. I got the plain matcha, with oat milk and honey. Oat milk is the only alternative milk option they have but pairs nicely with matcha. Only downside is the matcha is $9 but i do understand it's an expensive product and it was at least a good one. Flavor stood out nicely, not bitter, honey wasn't overpowering. The interior was a pleasant atmosphere as well, great place to sit. So good I went two days in a row! read more

Why doesn't this have a 6 star option?! If you haven't tried their coffee, you're sincerely missing out. The staff is absolutely lovely and their drinks are so unique and tasty. Actually, "tasty" doesn't even describe how wonderful it is. It's smooth and tastes like some seriously expensive coffee. None of the flavors are overwhelming and they rotate them often. Combinations you wouldn't have considered come together for a fantastic experience that makes it worth what you spend for it. They do have a "pay what you like" option, too, so don't be afraid to try them if you're a few bucks shy this week. It tastes expensive. It's incredible. I love this shop! The staff are so kind and very knowledgeable, and it's a nice place to set up shop and get some work done. For those commenting about the prices of the lattes - they are a shop that pays their workers a living wage and are gratuity free, so of course the lattes will be a bit more expensive than you're used to. I'm all for paying a bit more if I enjoy the space and it means the employees are being taken care of! The cutest most aesthetically pleasing spot here in CBUS! I am a sucker for a good interior, open & airy. I got the matcha it was very good! & the chocolate croissant was amazing. Ok, this place is located conveniently close to The Statehouse and Columbus Commons. It is really chic inside with tables and couches and a bar. The ambiance is nice. I see they had some sort of food but never saw a menu so can not say what it was or how extensive. Just saw a person asking for a box for her pastry. The upside, the flower power coffee and matcha latte were both very tasty. The flower power was not over powering with flower taste despite the name, which is a plus in my book. The matcha had a hint a lavender which made it the best tasting matcha I have ever had. The service was friendly and prompt. Typically Columbus atmosphere in my opinion. The downside is the cost and size. Those coffees were small and each were $9. Nine bucks for a small coffee is so asinine that I will never go here again. I really wanted to love this place, as I am a big Octavia Butler fan and not only was there a quote from her on the marquee outside, but her books were available as well - the place is a tribute to one of my favorite authors! BUT, at nearly $20 for a triple latte & capp, the price seemed high, especially when it took well over 10 minutes to get our drinks (we were the only ones in line when we got there) and they were lukewarm upon arrival (admittedly I like my drinks extra hot, but my friend was also disappointed). This is a very cute coffee shop. When we went there was a long line. The cinnamon pull apart bread is HUGE and delicious, I recommend sharing. A lot of times those kind of pastries can be dry inside but I found that this one was perfect! I will say two things. 1. My latte was lukewarm at best when it came out. If I order a hot latte, I really like it hot! And 2. Is that this will probably be the most expensive latte you buy, I believe each one was around 9+ dollars. Now this was a treat and not an every day thing for me, so I wasn't worried about it, but just go in knowing it's not going to be your typical $5 latte! They also have something on the menu about how if you can't pay for your coffee to let the staff know and you can basically pay what you can, or not pay at all, kind of a cute idea! Unless you park in the commons (which is recommended and validated by the coffee shop) parking can be hard to find! I don't know that I'd come back, but I enjoyed my experience here :) read more

I had to update my review as Parable moved into their own space! This truly is a space for everyone. Their drinks continue to cater to anyone, my friend who hadn't ever liked matcha loved their matcha latte, and the coffee quality and flavor pairings are exquisite and probably the best and most unique in Columbus. I also tend to buy beans for use at home here and they have a fantastic selection from a variety of roasters. Parable has done a great job of creating a space that can be used for a multitude of purposes. People here do solo work and collaborative work, but there's also plenty of people socializing or even just reading and creating art. I do think it's somewhat rare to find a space that naturally accommodates this so I applaud them. The staff themselves are some of the most wonderful, kind, and welcoming people I've met. They have a pay as you wish policy to ensure that this space and these drinks are accesible to everyone and they're always happy to answer questions and give recommendations. I love their commitment to partnering with small businesses for pastries and being a part of the surrounding community. These guys have created a space I want to be at everyday if I could! This place definitely isn't for everyone. It's certainly not for me. It's $8 for a latte which is ridiculously high. I read some reviews after leaving, and I guess you're supposed to negotiate or "have a conversation" about the price. I don't understand the concept at all. I find it very confusing, and I feel tricked as a new customer. This negotiating thing was never advertised or communicated to me at any point. The only redeeming quality is the ambiance. The inside was great. Hard to find a seat though. The service was slow, but it didn't seem like they had a lot of staff so I understand. The staff were friendly but the wait was really long. I left feeling irritated from the super high price and long wait. I won't be back, but it seems like this place is really popular so you might like it if you try it. The coffee isn't terrible. I mean it's better than Dunkin or Starbucks I guess. It was just a really bad experience overall. If you want a consistently great customer experience and fairly priced coffee, you should try Brioso. It's my favorite coffee spot downtown, They have two locations and there's one located a few blocks north of this place. So much better than Parable! Try that instead. read more

I've heard great things about this new spot and finally checked it out! It's downtown so you'll need to pay for street parking unless you live nearby. Staff are super nice and bring drinks out to you. Their menu has both cold and hot coffees and specialty options as well as a couple pastries. I will say it's quite pricey- most drinks are $7-9, but don't require tip. They have a community fund for people who can't afford drinks which I thought was really nice! I got a maple latte and it was tasty and warm for a cold day. The ambience inside the store is also cool! There are lots of fun plants and chill music playing. When I went, even during the middle of the week, there were lots of people so it was kind of hard to find a table, even though there is a lot of seating. Overall, I'd like to add this place to coffee shops I regularly visit, but though the coffee is good, it's not noticeably better than other Columbus staples like Staufs, One Line or Roosevelt, and the pricing makes it prohibitive to visit frequently. read more
