Man, this has been in draft forever. Been here at least four times since the initial visit. I can't pass up the chance to hit up a Papladeaux's and they didn't disappoint. Had the crispy salmon with scallop and shrimp. Also had the snapper w/crab. All I gotta say is look at the photos taken 15 minutes apart. Need I say more? Delicious so damn good. Stewart the gentlemen at the bar was wonderful and gave this as a recommendation. The bar ambiance was laid back and mild. Not too busy and it's open seating so choose wisely. I visited in March and Ivette took wonderful care of me...fast forward two months and Ivette once again took great care. She remembered who I was, where I sat the previous visit and even what I ordered! Talk about service. I will always pop in when I have a longer layover. They are very prompt with timing of food and Donnie assisted this visit. They were all over the timing of food and kept everything moving. Not bad at all for some airport food! We had a 3 hour layover here and was looking for a local restaurant to try out. I got the gumbo while my wife got the Chopped salad with fried crawfish. Both dishes tasted great. Gumbo was filled with good shrimp, sausage and peppers, while the salad was huge and had A LOT of crawfish. Only thing I wish was that the gumbo could have been bigger for a $20 dish. Other than that, we had a great meal and our waitress was friendly and really helpful. Good food and outstanding service at an airport restaurant?!? What? Passing through and we needed food. Happy to tell you that Joseph N treated us like gold from start to finish. I appreciate good service and it's a balm while traveling. It's the airport so ambiance isn't much of a thing, but PSK is clean, comfortable and attractive enough. I highly recommend the carrots with honey and pistachios. Having never experienced that particular combo, I was intrigued. It was amazing! I'm going to try to recreate it at home. Oh my goodness! Talk about a great place! First off, every person that helped us was so pleasant! There seemed to be two of these right across from each other at the airport? Couldn't quite tell the difference...maybe just more room? One looked a little more open-air. They were both busy, but we got seats at their bar and we were waited on right away. The food portions were AMAZING! My rainbow trout (which I have never had) was delicious! Lump crab on it, toasted almonds, all in a perfectly done brown butter sauce. Planned a longer layover so I could finally try this place. Multiple flight attendants recommended it and I'm glad I made it in. Was able to be seated almost immediately during the lunch rush and the server was so helpful finding me a spot where I could sit with my bags. This place has a great vibe, especially being in an airport. It's big enough that you can sit in the back and forget where you're at. I started with the gumbo which had a great smoky flavor and the shrimp was perfect. Kudos for de-veining, there are more places than you think that skip this. The Texas redfish was the knockout punch though. Top 3 seafood dishes I have ever had. The redfish was cooked perfectly, crispy and flaky. The biggest lumps of blue crab I've ever had in my life. And the butter sauce was incredible, not overly salty but very fresh with the lemon. I don't know a lot about gulf food being from SoCal but I definitely know good seafood. You never know what you will get at airport restaurants but this place was a winner for me. I was not in a good mood but my waiter with his excellent service and the food turned that around for me. According to the check, my waiter was Adrian and he was fantastic. He greeted me with a menu and some iced cold water! When I ordered my salad with salmon, he asked me how I wanted my salmon cooked. And he even came back later and asked me if the salmon was cooked to my liking. (It was cooked perfectly medium.) The place was busy but I never felt like he was struggling to keep up. I spend way too much time in DFW waiting for connections but the only saving grace is getting to pop into this place in Terminal C. Food is really good. Not a huge menu but what they do they do well. They make good shrimp, po'boy as well as fried catfish. Surprisingly what the star is the grilled asparagus, which I have to get every time I'm here. It's perfectly seasoned perfectly cooked really nice meaty stocks with just the right amount of salt and umami somehow. They allow you to substitute it for fries for 569 and it's worth it in a much healthier choice. You gotta try it out. Also, you don't expect much for service in an airport restaurant, but the people working here are always hustling and good at what they do. Stopped at Pappadeaux at the Dallas airport while waiting on a layover. For an airport location, they had plenty of room to sit, and had a truly beautiful interior with great lighting. The food was absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes especially for an airport, and pretty good prices too. I ordered takeaway from the to-go side of the restaurant and asked for something on the spicier side of things and prepared without milk. The EXTREMELY kind employee suggested the blackened catfish with crawfish etouffee and dirty rice. He even asked the chef if the entree was prepared with milk (which it is not, only butter) and addressed me by name after I gave him my name for the order. Overall for airport food, pretty standard. I don't know if we're at the age of expecting mind-blowing food at US airports which are not yet fully renovated, or just US airports in general. The crawfish had a little taste of iodine and muddiness but I think that's relatively typical. If anything, this order reminded me why I do not like crawfish anymore. Can't speak for the ambiance because I took my order to the airplane. It's right across from Pappadeaux Seafood Bar, so between the two locations, they have quite a bit of seating. Friendly and respectful wait-staff. Here's a copy and paste of my chopped salad review: Here is the description of the salad from their website - Mixed greens with tomatoes, egg, honey bacon, red onion, avocado, aged cheddar & Jack cheese with creamy vinaigrette. What they don't tell you is this thing is massive. Every component is fresh and delicious, but special shout out to the amount of avocado (half a large avocado), the honey bacon (cooked perfectly), and the creamy vinaigrette on the side. How is creamy vinaigrette not more of a thing? Delicious. One thing I got different this time was the grilled salmon. Well-seasoned. Really nice crust to it. I thought it was cooked perfectly to medium. If you have a specific preference on doneness, make sure you clarify with the server. I wasn't asked, but was happy with how it turned out. read more

Our server, Karen, was absolutely fantastic--attentive, warm, and completely on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. She noticed the little things and made sure my Old Fashioned came just the way I love it: no ice, extra cherries (perfection!). I would recommend this spot over any other restaurant in the airport. Most of them are chains and then theres this one and some bar owned by a basketball player. Just come here. It's not expensive it's just seafood. And the food was spicy but feel like the gumbo could've been better, then again it's not an entree. As far as airport restaurants are concerned, you could do a LOT worse than Pappadeaux. But, you can also get better Cajun seafood elsewhere, for a much better price. Service was great, and prompt, which is often important when you have a flight to catch. The fried calamari appetizer ($21.99) was a decent size, but the amount of calamari is deceiving as there are fried artichokes mixed in. The seafood gumbo ($14.99) was actually pretty disappointing. The broth didn't have the rich viscosity you get from a good roux, so the broth was watery and not the hearty stick-to-your-ribs gumbo that I enjoy. Next time dining at DFW, I'll probably try some BBQ or at least something else on the menu at Pass-on-the-Reux. read more

I was able to sit at a table top at the exit allowing me to people watch. The guys next to me had a shrimp cocktail so I figured, why not. These were some of the largest shrimp I've ever had and for airport food that was amazing. The cocktail sauce was too. The guy next to also had a crawfish étouffée that he highly recommended, so once again I said why not. I got it with the dirty rice and I must say I'm glad I went with this. This is by far the best eats in the airport. The food is amazing. If it wasn't for my carryon sitting next to me I'd forget I was sitting in an airport restaurant. The service is great and they are always super friendly and attentive. Although you're next to a gate if you sit a little deeper in the restaurant the noise level is pretty low. You might be thinking "really? 5 stars for airport food?" and the answer is YES! Plenty of seating area, plus bar seating, with TVs all around. Outlets available to recharge between flights, quick and friendly service (need to recognize Safwan here), plus delicious food and drinks. We sat at the bar and immediately got menus and water. Safwan, our server, was very professional and polite, and I noticed how he was like that with everyone seating at the bar. Also, he was quick with drinks, and followed up with the kitchen if anything wasn't coming out in time. I ordered the Brunch Punch and this was a great and refreshing AM drink. Served in a wine glass, with ice, a bit of sweetness from the peach and the signature bubbly of a brunch drink. Going in to the restaurant I was set on getting a club sandwich or a burger but, the guy to my right had a shrimp platter that looked so good, and this being a seafood place I immediately changed my mind and ordered that. They have a small and large version. Small comes with 8pcs of shrimp and fries and, believe me, that is plenty! I even shared with my BF and ended up happily full. The shrimp was perfectly fried and seasoned and came with tartar sauce and a sort of chili cocktail sauce. Both really good! My BF ordered a PoBoy to go, and Safwan recommended doing half fish and half shrimp, and that recommendation was great! Another very filling dish.
