I am never disappointed with the Pappadeaux chain and this was no different. We had a large family gathering after my Mother's funeral and arranged for a banquet room. From the first contact with my coordinator until we walked out the door with leftovers, everything was handled professionally and perfectly. Setting up the arrangements was made exceptionally easy thanks to my coordinator Kaileigh. She helped me construct a menu to suite all tastes, chose us a beautiful room, accommodated me on table set up (One for kids, one for adults) and gave me set prices up front so there were no surprises. (We constructed our menu because our guests had much simpler tastes that the preset banquet menus offered and were still given a preset menu price!) We also showed up a bit earlier than planned and they were ready and accommodating. Having worked food and beverage in my younger years, I cannot say enough good things about our server. She is as good as they come my friends. She was timely, calm, friendly and worked the room of 21 with ease and with only the help of one other server occasionally. I just wish I could remember her name!!! The food was awesome. The minute the meal began the room was silent. The fresh Pappadeaux Greek salad was more than ample in size and perfectly seasoned. The bread was hot, fresh and always being refilled. I like that they served the feta cheese in a wedge, so those who didn't care for feta could easily remove it. The meal choices were: Jumbo Fried Shrimp; Mixed Seafood Grill; Pasta Mardi Gras; Seafood Platter and Grilled Chicken Breast. All the meals were hot, fresh, delicious and plentiful. Everyone left with a doggie box! Our server served everyone the correct meal every time. The desert choices were NY Cheesecake with strawberries and Creme Brulee. Both were delicious. The only change I would request was that they caramelize the top on the Brulee a little browner as there was no crunch... Sorry - I live for the crunch! Still was decadent though. In a nutshell - This was the best large party meal I have been served in Houston in years. Special thanks to all at Pappadeaux's who made our very difficult difficult day end on such a pleasant note. Special note: Even though the address lists as Conroe - It is really located on the very North side of The Woodlands - Before Hwy 242. Also, some have stated that they are pricey. Some of the items are pricey but the portions are huge (and can be shared if you have a small appetite). There is dinner menu items that start at $15.95 and up - but I promise you will not be disappointed! So to really rate the cost per person, I give it a $$-$$$. read more

Not a bad find. You would think that the seafood restaurant off the highway may prove iffy, but this location is a good find. The crowd seemed mostly Woodlandsites hanging out for some good old Cajun romps. Though the restaurant was too darkly lit on Wednesday night, I enjoyed my meal. Pappadeaux gets its wedge salad on! I ordered one without bacon (no pigs, please.), and the waitress brought me one with bacon. When she set it down, she figured out the error herself, apologized, and came back in about 45 seconds with a new one - sans pork product. The wine selection ranges from obvious to mid-ranged goodness. The Shiraz I chose was too heavy for a salad and a dozen shrimp, but that was my fault. I was considering getting a full entree, and then I saw them go by on a tray. Mounds of food, what seemed like three pounds per plate, piled in a mountain of fried sin...not for me. I ordered one dozen boiled shrimp, indulged in my pure protein, and was on my merry way. The Woodlands is really getting a wide-range of selections of great new restaurants, and you do not have to be at the Rivercenter to find them. As close to a New Orleans dining experience as you can get outside of the Crescent City itself. Perfect french bread, Blackened fishes, fried oysters and savory grits are just amazing here. Service is top notch as is the ambience while still being kid friendly. My son and his nephews just loved the live lobster tank. Go at lunch and save yourself some cash. Huge portions. This was probably my millionth time to go here, unfortunately, it will be my last...till I get another gift card to Pappas Restaurants. I'll start with the positives because it's Friday! The Abita Amber out of the bottle was ice cold. The gumbo was fantastic. The rest of the story: Know your draft beer! But before I get to that, our server should go drop kick the hostess across the freeway for giving him a party of 12 when he is still a noob. Pappas has a rotating selection of draft beer, so I asked which Abita they had on draft. I was told the seasonal. If your a beer drinker, that helps a ton, because it's easy to figure out the seasons here in Texas. Hot and not as hot. Upon further questioning I find it's the Turbodog, great beer, but not great with the food I was going for. Hardly a seasonal beer since it is one of Abita's mainstays does not qualify for seasonal. By now you think I'm a beer snob but if I was, Bud Light would not be my go to session beer! As I mentioned we had a big group, but being a Pappas restaurant and having my rehearsal dinner here, I knew they should be able to handle it. They couldn't. I order the Jumbo Scallops. Jumbo should mean frickin huge! These were not. They were barely medium sized. They did throw on a couple extra for good measure, but if you have eaten scallops before, you know they have different flavors based on the size. So I got medium scallops without the flavor I was looking for. Sad face. Our server could have turned my frown upside down had he told me they did not have Jumbo and would I be ok with the small. But he did not. If you order the Bruschetta make sure they don't write Brochette on their ticket. Obviously somebody didn't know there was a difference even with the heavy annunciation by the orderer. It's amazing what two little vowels can do to a meal. By this point desert was not even an option. So we get the ticket....Split 3 ways. Should be easy with all those fancy computer POS systems they have. You would have thought we were trying to pay with yen, pesos, and euros, with the cluster that ensued. My head started to hurt, I needed a cocktail to make the world right again regardless of currency. So I got one. At home. read more

We came here a couple times a month. The food is consistent and tasty. We love the oysters when they are on sale. Our absolute favorite dish is the seafood on ice, but it is seasonal. My favorite dishes: Gumbo - loaded with seafood and good amount of rice. Rich flavor and not spicy. Lobster bisque - creamy with good lobster tons. Greek Salad - I enjoy watching them mix it, only wished they added more shrimp. My experience with service has been inconsistent. Usually it is fabulous but a couple times lately they have fallen. Dined with friends in the bar area on Sunday (7/22) for lunch. Food was exceptional the service was miserable. I had the Crispy Atlantic Salmon and a cup of seafood gumbo and couldn't have asked for a better dish. Everyone in our party was satisfied with everything except the service and smell. Our waitress, Jimonica, seemed to be working in slow motion...EXTREMELY SLOW MOTION and the bar area smelled like cigarette smoke. Yes this is one of those extremely rare restaurants who has not figured out the smell of cigarette smoke is not a proper flavoring for food. But it was our mistake for picking the bar area. This used to be my favorite restaurant, I would come here for birthdays, baby showers and more. My parents were visiting town and I took them back for dinner. First off, our favorite item has been taken off the menu (cedar plank salmon). Second off, hostess staff was excessively rude. The food took over 35 minutes to get to the table, and all the while three belligerent drunks were singing and cussing next to us all night. I LOVE PAPPADEAUX'S!!! It's casual. I've been going to Pappadeux's for at least 15 years... It's always a treat and good experience. I just recently visited this Woodlands location and its just as good as the rest. The waitstaff was great, the food is AWESOME!! I love the atmosphere... Its like your in a rich uncle's French mansion on the bayou.. No lines at happy hour, and we were sat at a huge round booth in back which made me feel kinda vip. The drinks were great, we had the Pineapple Mojitos and Black & Blue (berry) Margaritas. Had the Mini Fondue, which was amazing... The Crawfish Bisque was good, but was a little fishier than I remember.. Halibut Piccata was also ridiculously tasty and the deserts are all a great choice. So if you've never been I highly recommend any location, and if you have and want to try a new location this one is top notch. read more

Definitely a good restaurant for the prices but their food isn't 5 star quality ! Fish is dry. Rainbow trout isn't cooked correctly. Portions are too small and the waiters are rude. Poor service started the meal. I waited for 15 minutes before a kind waiter (James) came over and offered to find my server (Kaalyn). I was starving after a hard day of redoing a bathroom and ordered an old standby, the Pappadeaux Platter ($26.95). What has happened?! Tilapia instead of catfish. No fried oysters and frozen suffed-things. This is not what I am used to from Pappadeaux's. The bad food was compounded by continuing bad service - I caught the waitress and asked for more cocktail sauce. She came back a few minutes later but had forgotten the sauce. It took another visit from James the waiter to get my empty iced tea glass filled. I eat at Pappas' restaurants all the time - this is the most miserable food and worst service I have encountered at any of their restaurants - this place needs a management transplant. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the dimly lit Pappadeux's restaurant in Conroe. My party of three were seated amongst Christmas lights and slight music, and were met with a fabulous waiter. Matt Dillon, our waiter, was spectacular and patient. He brought us delicious Merlot, and an amazing shrimp fondue with melted spinach. After our delectable appetizer we ordered red fish and shrimp, the Mardi Gras pasta with shrimp, sausage and mushrooms. Our food was amazing! I really like this restaurant. It's classy and the food is just perfect without over charging you. I always have the Greek salad. You have to try it. The salmon is the king of the menu. My husband and I really had a nice time here on Wednesday night! Our first time at this restaurant-it's big, airy and comfortable with great decor. Our server was wonderful! We enjoyed the chopped salad (their bacon is delicious!), the shrimp etouffe and the fried shrimp. Our entrees came out quick and were really hot and fresh! Well, we went here knowing this was an upper level seafood restaurant,(at least price wise) but was somewhat let down, my the quanity and quality. Let me start, with the good...Excellent baked potato, large, and in charge, with all the trimmings. Hot, well prepared, and adequate ingredients! Bread was hot, with good soft quality butter. Fresh salad, but very little dressing. No tomatoes, and very little onion, crouton, and bacon bits. Now, the not so good. Shrimp, were small, however, well crusted, and crunchy. Catfish, was bland, w/heavy cornmeal breading... fishy tasting. Salad doesn't come with the meal...extra!!!The prices were about 30% more than restaurants of similar style and decoration. Let me preface by saying that I'm not a huge fan of the Pappas restaurants in general. There isn't anything necessary wrong with them but they just seem impersonal and cookie cutter restaurants. I went last night with my fiancé and future mother in law and it was nice evening. We ordered the fondue for an appetizer which is always delicious but VERY rich (if you plan on actually eating your main course, stay away!). I ordered a small Greek salad and a cup of lobster bisque. The salad was HUGE for a small but I also thought it was weird it only included two shrimps in it. The bisque want bad but it didn't stand out to me. In my opinion, the service is always good here. Our waiter was extremely attentive and never missed a beat! That's probably the real reason I give it four stars. The food was fine, I wasn't wow'd or super impressed and I never really am here but the service was great! read more

I am glad I finally got to see what all the fuss was about! Went here Saturday for dinner, the outside garden is very pretty & I love how large the inside of this restaurant is. Even though the service was a little slow due to the table of 14 next to us and it being a Saturday night, the food was great! Started with the appetizer sampler of Shrimp & Crawfish Fondeaux, Fried Calamari and the Crispy Fried Alligator. Very yummy and NOT greasy! I had the Macadamia Crusted Halibut with Lump Crab atop and it was smack your momma good. I don't know what the sauce was, but it was also damn good. I am not a fan of Brussel sprouts but the way that they were prepared was perfect for this dish. I will definitely be back here! Looks like they have some great lunch specials :) read more

I used to like Pappadeaux. Now I can't remember why. We ate there on May 2nd with our kids (6-year old twins). I won't say it was awful. It just wasn't great. To be fair - the kids were reasonably impressed. There was lots of fried bread (some of it actually smelled vaguely like fish) and there was LOTS of free ketchup. If it's fried bread and ketchup (or cheap tartar sauce) you're after, you can't do better than Pappadeaux. The high point of our visit to Pappadeaux was finding a cat that was caught in the engine compartment of a car parked next to ours. The kids would not go inside to feast on fried bread and ketchup until the cat had been rescued. I told the manager and they soon determined that the car in which the cat was stuck belonged to an employee. A waitress came out, crawled under the car & rescued the cat. I don't think Pappadeaux features parking lot cat rescues on a daily basis so your mileage may vary and you may have to settle for fried bread and free ketchup. read more

Double liqueur was less than standard single. "Large" beers were less than a pint and they didn't account for you buying drinks for others when cutting you off. Drink portions very small. Food, a little less than average Pappadeaux Service, a little better than average Pappadeaux Management, far less than average Pappadeaux. Value, far less than average Pappadeaux. Do yourself a favor and drive farther for a different location. read more

I simply LOVE Pappadeux. They only have 2 in the Midwest that I know of in Ohio and Chicago. None in the Carolinas. I ordered take out from this location. Order was accurate, and service was friendly. On one occasion I ordered the mardigras pasta, then for fourth of July they had a promotion for chicken tenders. I never thought that I would order chicken tenders from Pappadeux but I did and they were good. Solid location with accuracy and good service. read more

I will say my food in Pappadeaux is always delicious! My reasoning for a 4 rating (could probably go down to a 3.5 if that was allowed) was due to a bus boy or cook muffling something under his breath as we arrived at 9:30pm. Mind you, we arrived that late because of my parents flying in from Orlando to surprise me and wanted them to have a nice meal. Not sure why he was so rude. Must have been because we were dressed in athletic gear. We only caught the end of it with him saying "these people" as he stared us down. He was a older, tall, bald and heavyset caucasian guy. (Hopefully management knows who I'm talking about.) Ugh "Welcome to Houston", I thought to my parents. Aside from starting the dinner with that negativity, we received excellent service from everyone with a smile. I ordered a martini which looked a little empty when it arrived to the table. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would have the bartender make more. Nothing ever came back. Then, I order another one and it might as well have been a shot of vodka. Yuck! Drinks were a downer. The waitress continuously checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything and that we were satisfied with our food. We left paying a $219 check (not including tip). Hopefully that employee representing Pappadeaux can learn not to judge a book by its cover. read more

I'm really disappointed because I've been coming here for years with my family and I always have a great time. However, that was not the case this visit. When my lesbian girlfriend and I came in, they told us to expect a 5-10min wait. The main dining room was quite busy, but there were obviously open tables. When we got the notification that the table was ready, they didn't try to seat us in any of the very obviously open tables. Instead, we were lead to an empty, sectioned off part of the restaurant. Now as two gay, black women, we took complete offense to the situation. I did not accept being separated from the rest of the building. I asked the hostess to move us to another table. She quickly walked back to the main dining room and found us a table almost instantly. From then on, our service wasn't too good either. Our server, Cody, took quite some time to acknowledge us after we sat down, even though he was being very attentive to the other 2 tables he had around us. He didn't check on us throughout our dinner, everything we ordered took forever, and it felt like a bother to be waited on by him. I can say he did the bare minimum in bringing drinks, taking orders and such, but as far as taking care of our table he was very sub par. I'm giving two stars because the food was delicious, but the overall service could certainly have been better. I've worked for the Pappas restaurants before, so I'm no stranger to how they operate. Came here with friends and loved it. This was my first visit to a Papadeux, very memorable. The staff was awesome, they really knew the menu and even offered great apps that were just delicious. I tried, forg legs, alligator, shrimps, crab, scallops, etc... that day it was a "GOOD EATS" day. Since they I became a life long member of the" Papadeaux your the best in my book" fan.
