Holy guacamole!! Pun intended. This place has some out of this world guac. My favorite thing on the menu is the rep-o-lee-toes tacos! I pronounced it reptillios once and the server chuckled at me so I'm working on that one... Get the tacos. They are aMazing. Gringo freedom is killer too. Ordered the Papi bowl here but as someone who is grain free i had the rice removed. I was pretty surprised at how it was still very flavorful! I've been here a few times before as well and one of my favorite things to get is the gator tacos!! The gator meat is tender and so tasty I could eat a hundred of those tacos. I've been wanting to try this place since driving home to PSL on U.S. 1 from Palm Beach airport. Mexican food is my favorite, and this cute little spot looked to be drawing a crowd. Came back on a late Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed, although I did get quite a surprise (more on that below). I had the Gringo Freedom and Puerto (pork) tacos, and my husband had the Coconut Shrimp and Carne Asada tacos. We also split an order of chips and guacamole and I had the Smoke/Chill margarita.I also ordered a side of refried beans (not on the menu as a side but only $3) and chili lime rice. THE GOOD: My husband enjoyed his shrimp taco the best (saying it was delicious and juicy) and I was overjoyed with the Gringo Freedom (ground beef with a crispy shell) taco. The latter was so flavorful, and the shell was freshly cooked. Would definitely get two of those next time. The chips, guac and the margarita all were excellent. THE BAD: (Okay, not *that* bad) The pork taco was just okay. It was dry and I found myself dipping in the delicious green and red salsas that came with our chips and guac. The beans and rice were just okay as well. Not a ton of flavor. Wouldn't go out of my way to order as a side again. Steak taco was "good" but not out of this world. THE UGLY: I can now say I've seen it all. We were seated in one of the booths with banquette seating with our backs to the open air kitchen. Directly next to us was a family with two young girls. When we noticed our server letting out a yelp of surprise when approaching the guests, we looked over to see a full size (nearly a foot tip to tail) pet iguana sitting on the table, necklace around its neck and being petted by one of the girls! The server was friendly and kind but bewildered, and the parents acted as if it were completely normal. The girl continued to pet it even as the chips and queso were served and it remained on the table until the manager came over to speak to them, letting them know it cannot stay on the table. Even so, the lizard remained on the girl's lap or chest, and she even carried it into the bathroom with her! Now, this part of our experience is not really a dig on the restaurant, but that *can't* be sanitary, and I was shocked that they let the family remain seated in the dining room with the reptile rather than seating them outside. It was crazy, and is my only reason for giving 4 starts instead of 5. (What were they thinking?) All that said, I would go back, especially during "Papi Hour" or for Taco Tuesday. Be aware though that it is a small place with limited parking. We got the last spot at about 3 PM on a Saturday and there were few, if any, open tables after we were seated. read more

The gringo taco is a classic for a reason because it's delicious, I usually try a different 2nd taco each time. They have unique tacos like pork belly and alligator. One of my fave restaurants since I moved back from NYC. We can't say enough good things about the consistently delicious food, prompt seating and service, and fun jovial atmosphere. Never had a bad meal; only rave reviews. We also cannot say enough about our dear Eli. He always remembers us by name (even after our first meeting) and always greets us with premier service, smiles and attention. He constantly checks in to make sure we have everything we need and he's honestly one of the best hospitality professionals I've ever met and is going to go far! I loved the fresh ingredients, cool vibe, and awesome server (name was Lexie, ask for her!) Our food and drinks came out quickly and were delicious. I appreciated the server giving me a heads up about the spice level in the drink being on the mild side (pineapple jalapeno) so she was sure to have the bartender make it spicier per my request. The prices are a little high for a taco place, but they have a killer happy hour and to be fair I think the ingredients warrant it. I would say the only thing they could improve upon would be to make their homemade tortilla chips a little thinner, but a huge kudos for actually making them in house. Every single time I come here, it is an absolute blast! We came during their happy hour and I paid $3 a taco and I think $6 a margarita. C'mon now, that's incredible! We spent a good 1.5-2 hours here one Sat, and the bill wasn't even $45 and we ate and drink a decent amount. I was very pleased. Anyway, their tacos are all amazing, I haven't had an unsatisfactory one yet! We (boyfriend and I) always sit at the bar and it's an absolute riot - it's always quite a crowd, ready to take shots, and become your new best friends - so if you're the quiet type, the bar might not be your scene as it's always packed and jamming on the weekend! For the families and introverts of the world, the outdoor sitting area is fairly quiet and the inside is small, but pretty legit. The food is really good. I love their chicken quesadilla and I've never had a bad taco here! Some of their bartenders are amazing & totally on point - and some of them are awful, but I still love this place so much, I'm giving them 5/5. We ordered from the specials menu. I got a half priced margarita which was ok. We ordered the Brussels Sprout taco which was interesting. I probably would not order that again. We ordered the pork shoulder taco which was good. My daughter ordered the chicken quesadilla which was huge. She brought 3/4 of it home. We also got the chips and quest. We decided to go to Papichulo on a Tuesday night, which is their Taco Tuesday. Our wait was an hour long, and the place was PACKED! Let me tell you, our meal was worth every bit of the wait. The street corn is the best I have ever had, and the tacos were amazing. I got the Puerco, Pollo, and Coconut shrimp, all which were absolutely yummy. We also got chips and queso, and the Mexican rice, and were blown away by the flavor. The drinks were great, the mango tango was so good my boyfriend got the recipe, and best of all, on Tuesdays all drinks are 50% off. There are just lots of better places on a Friday night. So maybe I'm just not a "street taco" fan or maybe it was actually this place but I have the say I was SO excited to try PapiChulo and yet left there quite disappointed. The atmosphere and service was spot on which is why I'm giving this new hot Tequesta spot three stars! But sadly the food just left me wanting something else... We started with the Kati's mule a fun twist on a Moscow mule but sadly I tasted nothing special. My husband had a standard margarita which he said was not worth half the price. Then we moved onto the homemade chips and queso with Kobe beef, it wasn't bad it wasn't amazing. They are known for their street tacos so we ordered for and split them. The carne asada was the best, followed by the chicken, then the gringo and lastly the fish. But all were over powered by the strong flavor of the corn tortilla. Not that it was bad, it was just too strong! Then a $60 tab to boot, just not worth it. I hate to leave this place a bad review as I so hoped it was going to be a new hot spot in my hometown. read more

It sounds like a great combination but the margaritas are weak and the food is mundane (think S FL Tex Mex junk food, a la mom and pop's version of Taco Bell). The service was good but the kitchen was slow. The speed of operations was surprising since they were fully staffed when we visited at 11AM. We were the only table. This place blew my mind. The food, drinks and ambiance is exactly what we had in mind. It's also kid friendly. It's really hard to find a place with good food and affordable prices. Happy hour on the weekends too and the drinks were good. I had a Baja chicken salad which was amazingly delicious. Gringo tacos are a high take on the old school Taco Bell taco and they're AMAZING! Great cocktails and service! 10/10!

Service was great. Chips are so fresh and crispy. Two salsas are served with chips. Green and a more Smokey chipotle one. Both were good. I personally prefer a more traditional salsa.
