against better judgement, thinking that with all the help wanted ads posted on Craiglist, maybe, just MAYBE they hired someone that can actually cook or knows what mexican food should taste like... NOPE couldn't been more WRONG,
the bowl of crushed tomato they try to pass off as salsa couldn't be more tasteless, Hey Premier is right down the road, go get some cilantro and maybe some green chiles and cumin....
Corn Fritters are NOT supposed to be cooked until they are as hard as pucks,I was able to actually shell one like a oyster and surprisingly the inside wasn't too bad.
My wife ordered the bean enchiladas, I had the Papi pollo, she took one bite and her face curled up with disgust, she said "try this, is this what enchilada sauce tastes like"?
There was a small hint of ench sauce flavor but the sweetness of it knocked you off your seat, I have NEVER tasted "sweet" enchlada sauce before, Is this a new Sweet Baby Rays product??? She couldn't eat anymore of this entree
- Papi's Pollo -
Roasted chicken breast stuffed with our homemade chorizo, signature spices and fire roasted corn. Served over cilantro lime rice and topped with queso blanco sauce & guacamole.
this is the verbage from the menu for my entree, apparently "topped with" means half a plate of guacamole,(oh and BTW the picture shows a small dollop of guac) the rice, the parts of it that was actually cooked, was barely room temperature, the chicken chewy as boot leather
we did tell our waitress, about the overcooked fritters, and my wife did tell her she thought the sauce was horrible and couldn't eat any of it, but when the check came, NOTHING was subtracted from the bill, REALLY??? I asked her since my wife couldn't eat her food, can it be taken off the bill, she replied she would have to ask the owner, then she proceeded over to the bar to one of the only three guys sitting at the bar and presumably ask if she could remove the offending item from the bill. He apparently agreed and she disappeared into the back then came out to present us with the new bill.
These three guys had been sitting at the bar since we sat down, we were the ONLY table in the bar area, and I believe there were about three or four tables in the dining area, so NOT busy for a Friday night, what really got me was, If one of these guys were the owner, and you had customers complaining about their dining experience, you would think that you, as the OWNER could take the THREE steps over to that table and say something??? NOTHING, NOT a word, just sat there with his buddies even AFTER the waitress ASKED him to remove the entree because the patron didn't like the food.
as the adage goes, when guest have a good experience they may tell 2 or 3 people, but when the have a BAD experience they tell 10
(side note as of 2016, Yelp had 135 million monthly visits)
really too bad, this place could be something if they would hire a cook or two and maybe
learn customer service !
I wonder what it will be next year........... read more
