What I expected: cupcakes. A cupcake is a cupcake, right? Nothing special, just a nice little desert after a nice birthday meal. What I received: a drastic change in my outlook on cake products. Apparently all cupcakes are not equal. These were the best cupcakes, bar none, I can recall eating. They were top quality, with cake so moist, I did not require a glass of milk with every bite. I still had the milk, (I mean hey, I'm not a barbarian!) I didn't drink it until the cupcake was done though, and it was a nice compliment to the cake rather than something necessitated by the cake. They had the perfect amount of frosting, came packaged in a box that kept each one safe and separate, and they just tasted outstanding. Every expectation was exceeded. It was obvious that the same quality, care, and attention to detail went into my cupcakes as goes into the most extravagant wedding cake. End analysis: In the religion of cakes, if a cake has led an honorable life, when it dies, if hopes to be reincarnated as one of Cate's cakes.

And at the top of these are lemon and strawberry centric cakes. Fold in it being my birthday (lazy pun intended) and you have a recipe for a great experience (pun #2). My doorbell rang. A few hours later, the second had disappeared. I did manage some restraint and saved the third for the next morning. Moist, flavorful, the perfect shade of yellow. And with a bow on the container. I stopped in today because I recently purchased food from this location and genuinely enjoyed it. I…read morehad the pasta salad and thought it was good, which is why I fully intended to return and continue supporting this business. Unfortunately, today's interaction completely changed that. When we walked in, I was greeted and I returned the greeting. The employee then made a passive aggressive comment implying that no one had spoken, so I clarified that I had said hello. The exchange immediately felt uncomfortable, unnecessary, and unwelcoming. I found it very off putting that the focus appeared to be on whether a customer spoke loudly or enthusiastically enough rather than simply providing a pleasant and respectful experience. The employee has no way of knowing what customers may be dealing with in their personal lives. Because of this interaction, my husband and I chose to leave immediately. For context, during my previous visit I spent around $60 on several items, so this feedback is not coming from a lack of interest in supporting the business. It's genuinely unfortunate to leave a review like this, as the product itself was good. However, customer service matters just as much as the food, and because of this experience, we will not continue to support this business.
