Needless to say, the store is well stocked. It's quiet enough that you can focus, but busy enough that you'll probably make a temporary friend. Totally comfortable. Now, you KNOW you're going to find something you MUST have. I always do. This time, it was charcuterie tools and baking ramekins. How have I done without those ramekins for this long? I must now do some creme brûlées, right? Or, baked puddings, individual bread puddings, or baby cheesecakes ... yeah, sorry; I got carried away. Plum Pudding is has been in business for 43 years and because of the excellent products and unusual items they offer for any cook and the outstanding customer service, and personalized service you know this is why they have been in business for so many years. Michael provides personalized service and the items they offer are amazing. Shopping there brings back memories with my Mother and this store still provides a down home personal shopping experience. I am so grateful with a Pandemic that is happening in the world that has killed several of my close relatives and friends, 1 who is in the hospital right now and me being at risk I am hesitate to shop at a lot of places. I am so thankful this store is taking it seriously and requires his employees and patrons to wear a mask. And who wouldn't want to buy some Liquor Ice Cream, An artisan ice cream company that Michael carries in his store PROOF is changing the way people think about dessert. Bourbon Caramel , Coconut Rum, to name a few they offer. If you are looking for something for that hard to please person who loves to cook that likes tradition or different Plum Pudding is the Go to Place. I could spend hours in this store Anybody that states otherwise I find questionable. There is a group that are against wearing masks and seem determined to be untruthful and determined to post things that never happened to bring down a company rating and there should be a way to report them for being unethical. Plum Pudding is one of the BEST Businesses in Aiken, SC and I know that I for one thank them for looking out for their employees and their customers. I have never ever been treated badly by anyone in that store and going in there I want to have One of everything. So many items that I see that will make perfect gifts for my daughter for Christmas it is hard to just pick one. This is such a Great Kitchen Shop! I could have spent the entire day in here looking at all the cool gadgets they have. I saw a lot of items that I have never seen. It's such a cute shop located downtown in Aiken. We were doing some window shopping and I just had to go in. They have every kitchen gadget you can think of in here. I ended up buying a Jalapeño Pepper Cooker for the grill.....not sure how I ever lived without one. I also got a cool hamburger patty maker that allows you to stuff ingrediants in the center. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable of all the gadgets. I could have spent a fortune. I recommend this shop for all your kitchen needs.....and things you didn't even know you need! A LITTLE COURTESY GOES A LONG WAY ! If you have the nerve to try to sell a mixing spatula for $19 you are going to need to bring a little something to the table, (how about putting a little "respect" on it. That means you will need to extend a greeting to your customers and when they attempt to engage you. You should further respond appropriately and continue the conversation. I visited this store while in Aiken during the weekend and the male rushed by me in such a hurry that he didn't even take time to say hello. I was interested in what was so important so I looked back and noticed him checking on his "full grown and capable" employee. He literally raced to the rear of the counter and just stood there watching her. Ok. To be fair, I did not see him nor other staff greet any of the customers so this is probably just there MO. It is not something that I was specifically looking for but of course I noticed it. Had he not almost run into me getting to "her", I would not have thought twice about it. The reason Sur La Table is so successful despite their price points is because they have great customer service. They literally greet every customer, and go above and beyond to assist with purchases. It is a pleasure to shop there. I will spend another year looking for that special spatula before I support a business that just does not have a basic understanding of customer service. read more
