I ordered a chicken Mediterranean family size Pizza and a papa specialty pizza family size as last time I went, I ordered a large pizza. The pizza was so small I thought they had given me a medium size instead. Tonight when I got home my Mediterranean pizza had bacon instead of Roma tomatoes and sun-dried tomatoes. It looked gross not what I ordered. I called the store since it was near to closing time . The phone just rang and rang, then they started picking up the phone and hanging up. So unprofessional! I am sad that there's no longer a Papa Murphys in the trivalley area so I ventured out to Castro Valley to get Papa Murphy's! This is located near/same complex as the Lucky's complex. However, I found that parking is a little more tight closer to Papa Murphy's. It was pretty busy and not that many parking spots. Luckily, there are some green zoned spots (20 minutes) right in front of Papa Murphy's since I knew I'll be in and out with my pre-order. I came in and told them my name, they were able to give me my pizza right away, pretty much no wait. I was excited to finally enjoy my stuffed crust pizza with white sauce. I baked it to directions and it was exactly what I expected. They did a good job with the sauce and toppings. I've been to other locations that skimped on the toppings and sauce. I will take Papa Murphy's over any other store bought pizza though, including Round Table. There's is no beating Papa Murphy's at the value you get. The only reason it's 4/5 is because this particular location does something with the dough that gets it stuck to the tray and makes it hard to transfer to the pizza stone. Take an bake may not seem like the most elaborate pizza and movie night but I really enjoy the convenience. Extremely affordable, cooked to your own preference and easy to order. Since my wife and two of my children have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease( can't have gluten) Papa Murphy's has become our go to neighborhood pizza spot. My wife always orders the pizza online. Pickup is always quick and seamless. The pizzas we've tried always have great flavor and fresh toppings. As far as the gluten free crust goes they have one of the better ones that I've tried. It's a thinner crust and when you bake it at home you get a slightly black char to it. Very similar to how a pizza looks when being cooked in a wood fired pizza oven. And I'm a huge fan of wood fired pizza. We always get friendly service here and my wife/kids never feel sick after eating here which is always a huge worry when eating out while dealing with Celiac. Order online not in store or over the phone or you will be over charged! This was a go to until recently. Other day I called in for a question, then I was going to place my order online. Guy on the phone offered to take my order so I figured it'd save me time, I did that and when I paid and went home I felt like the pizza was way more than usual. He charged me $22 and online the exact same order was 17$. $22 for a pizza that ain't even cooked is wild to me. I've notified them multiple times and they've done 0 to resolve it. If I could give them a negative review I would. I ordered a Veggie but subtracted onions and mushrooms because I'm allergic. I also added Canadian Bacon which I paid extra for. I picked-up the pizza on my way home from the airport after traveling all day as I was going to pass by this location and the one by my house closed a few months back. When I got home to Pleasanton the order was completely wrong. They left the mushrooms and onions on the pizza and didn't add the Canadian Bacon I paid for however that did add the sauce I asked for. When I called the store they didn't apologize. They told me my only option was to drive the 20minutes back to the store to replace it. I said that wasn't acceptable and asked to speak to a manager. They told me no manager was around and hung up on me. No wonder why all these locations are closing permanently. With terrible customer service and not getting items you paid for. Being getting take and bake here for some time. We've had pretty consistent service from them all along. There salads are pretty good and compliment their pizzas. Today, I ordered online and when I picked up my pizza, it had NO CHEESE on it! I thought it looked funny when I picked it up but really didn't notice until I got home that the cheese was totally missing! Who has to request cheese on their pizza? This is our "Go-to" spot when we want an easy, quick, and delicious meal. We have never been dissapointed, so this review is long overdue! Today, we were craving pizza, so we were very happy to hear they were still open during this "lockdown" due to COVID-19 virus. Not only are we trying to support local businesses through this time, but we were really craving some Papa Murphy's. Evelyn helped us out today. She was wonderful and VERY attentive to being sanitary. Many may not notice such small details, but the phone was ringing while our pizza was being made and I watched her stop making the pizza to pick up the phone in the back. Once she got done on the phone, I was paying close attention to ensure she didn't walk straight over and continue to work on our pizza without changing her gloves. While she couldn't see me, I could see her and she immediately took off her gloves when she got off the phone, and put on clean ones to continue on with our pizza. While this was a "small" and "expected" gesture, it doesnt happen as much as it should nowadays. It really shows she cares to maintain a sanitary environment, not only for the company, but most importantly, the customer. It also shows she does the right thing, even when no one is watching. I loveee coming to Papa Murphy's for my family's weekly pizza. It's been especially hard during the COVID-19 to make sure the food we get outside is being handled properly by others. The staff member Evelyn is always helpful whenever I come and is very careful about sanitation. She is very careful about where she places her hands and switches out her gloves if she needs to leave the food. I am very anal about my the sanitation of my food especially when it comes from outside but she and the rest of the staff always ensure great quality pizza and cleanliness. Though it can be very busy, the girls working are very quick. Five stars!!!! read more

Time for another scathing review! Well, luckily for them, not too scathing since sites like Yelp love to be controlling and not allow you to express your true feelings (what ever happened to free speech?? Smh) but after my last experience with them, and pretty much finding out there's nothing to be done to reprimand this location since technically it's an independent franchise, blasting them everywhere is the best course of action. As a brand, of course I love the Take N' Bake concept, and the pizzas overall have great flavor. It's the damn SERVICE that's a major issue. This location is nearest me and I have frequented this place over the years for quite a long while now, which is also how I've noticed the quality has gone down significantly because they skimp on the toppings a lot. I believe there's a newer owner, I'm not too sure because I don't see the same big man I used to see there. Now it's another smaller dorkier man, and a woman that's there sometimes I think. The workers there have REALLY downgraded to the most basic, arrogant, no-future having, worthless, unprofessional "service" people ever. I usually have to bite my tongue cursing them out because the location is so close to me. So anyways, for the last experience recently that was the last straw, I called to place a phone order as I usually do; Family Size half and half pizza (won't say exactly what just in case they are watching), and since it was a signature pizza, I ask to switch out one of the veggie toppings (green onions) for another topping (bell peppers) as I do occasionally. Tell me why this rude harlot-sounding girl tells me in a rude voice "There's going to be a 1.50 charge still". I'm like "Why? I'm switching out one topping for another--" she cuts me off and snob-ily says "It doesn't matter what it is, we do not do substitutions". So to make a long story short, I had to get into a screaming match with both her and another worker who claimed to be the manager for 1) lacking customer service over the phone and 2) trying to tell me it really costs 1.50 even though I'm TAKING OFF an item and REPLACING it with a similar item that's NOT a "gourmet topping". I hang up, call corporate to make complaint and they basically tell me it's the franchise owner who can only handle the issue and they would have him reach out to me.. Well that doesn't help me because if there are rude people working at the location, most likely the owner is rude as well which is why he hired them. Fast forward to me having to call the store back since I NEVER received a phone call from the Franchise owner after THREE calls to corporate and going in circles, the same rude trick answers the phone, so I question the stupid "policy" yet again. She tells me that since "they do not charge for onions, they cannot substitute any veggie topping for onions." Seriously, WHAT TYPE OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE???? SO YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR A SIGNATURE PIZZA, PLUS AN EXTRA $1.50 EVEN THOUGH I'M TAKING A TOPPING OFF AND REPLACING IT WITH A SIMILAR TOPPING?? AND IT'S A REGULAR VEGGIE?? NOT "GOURMET" VEGGIE??? IT'S NOT EVEN A MEAT!!! Fast-Fast forward to the owner finally getting in contact with me, and of course he has the same unprofessional, rude, immature attitude as his staff right at the beginning of the phone call when speaking to me. I swear he thought he was Kanye or something because he was really feelin' himself for no reason, trying to talk over me and scold me for "being upset over toppings." He didn't even let me explain how I have gotten substitutions before and how I was just trying to understand the exact policy, and he kept saying "It's just a topping"--YES MOFO, IT'S JUST A TOPPING. SO WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING WITH THE CUSTOMER OVER A TOPPING INSTEAD OF BEING A GOOD BUSINESS OWNER AND PROVIDING A SOLUTION BY JUST GIVING ME THE DAMN TOPPING WITHOUT AN EXTRA CHARGE??? Honestly, had they not been so g'damn rude about the whole situation from the get-go, I would have just paid extra. I just wanted clarity about the "policy". So in other words, after tearing down the owner's pride, he hung up on me and I'm sure he went to go cry in a corner after my verbal smackdown in response to his highly inappropriate behavior speaking to me. I won't be returning to this location so I can avoid going 51/50 on everyone and catching a case for having to put crass mofos in check. I swear, it's like anybody thinks they can run a business just because they took a semester of Business 101 even though they probably dropped out because they all a sudden thought they knew everything based off one class, but they completely lack real-life conflict resolution skills!!! We used to patronize this Papa Murphys at least once per week, The staff was friendly, efficient, handled substitutions (bell peppers instead of black olives) on the Cowboy without any issues. Topping were generous, service was good, and the results were delicious! Now, they no longer do $10 Tuesdays. And the price for the same exact large we always order has steadily and quickly gone up without explanation. It was $12.50 for years, and suddenly went up to $13.25, then $13.50, then $13.75, all within several weeks. Last night it increased to $14.75, again the only explanation I received was "the price was increased." And that's not outrageous for a really good pizza, but there have been so many mistakes lately (overcharging for half and half - full price for both toppings), wrong size, all toppings only on one side of the pie, skimpy amounts of toppings, etc,, that I'm no longer coming back to this location. No big deal. As I work in Livermore, there's a good PM on my way home, where they still do $10 Tuesdays and charge the old prices I'm used to on other days. Best of all, they still care about their customers. It's really too bad. The Castro Valley location is much more convenient, but I'll drive the extra distance to get more consistent results. read more

My first experience here was just a few days ago when I placed an online order in the morning before they were open. The one female employee was in the middle of making a pizza for a customer. She said under her breath when I walked in, maybe a greeting? She asked if I needed to order or was picking up. I told her an online pick up and my name. About 30 seconds later she went to the rack, grabbed the pizza and put it on the counter. Then went back to making the pizza. I asked if she needed anything, she replied with "no". I asked if they had stamp cards. She said "yes" I waited a few minutes for her to grabbed more product from the back to finish the pizza. Then after the customer left she gave me a stamp card. Customer service was meh. I felt like a burden. The pizza was okay. The toppings weren't spread out and the request for light cheese wasn't done. No biggie. I fixed it before baking. I will be going back to the San Leandro location for here on out even though it's further. They have always given me friendly, efficient service and great pizzas. read more
