I had a really unpleasant experience with Pizza Express. I called the restaurant with a simple question, and instead of being helped, the person who answered the phone yelled at me and reprimanded me for ordering through DoorDash. There was no reason to speak to a customer that way. If there's an issue with third-party delivery services, that's something the business needs to handle internally--not take out on customers who are just trying to place an order. This place surprised me. After reading comments I didn't expect much, but boy was I wrong this place delivered a solid pizza! Ordered a large supreme pizza, side salad and mild boneless wings. Pizza was great. Toppings on each slice, dough was crispy and chewy, just the right consistency. The sauce had just the right amount of sweetness too. The salad also surprised me it was bigger than it looks and had good flavor. They were generous with the cheese on the salad which I wasn't made about. The mild boneless wings were a let down. I bought a (very expensive) HUGE 28" Pizza and it arrived totally smashed to one side of the box. It was so huge it didn't fit in the car and must have been sideways. BJ how could you? Our go-to pizza spot in CV. Never had an issue with an order. You can call or order online. We usually do pick up but I believe they do deliveries as well. Prices are all very similar to other pizza places in CV. I love how BJ the owner is very supportive of the community and the schools. When my son was in elementary school, I remember him receiving a free slice of pizza for winning battle of the books (reading competition). If you want the biggest and the best pizza in the area, this is definitely the place to go. I remember when I first moved to Castro valley, one of the drivers drove up to the house and gasped when he had learned the old homeowners had moved and we replaced them. Gave us a very warm welcome to the neighborhood -- mind you, the first of our neighborhood to really welcome us, so that was quite a great service. Come several years later, we're still ordering pizza from pizza express as simply put, there's no better. After school is let out kids go across the street to get 99 cent pizza. There is a big sign that says 99 cent pizza. If you specifically don't say you want the 99 Cent Pizza. They will charge you full price. Or the owner's wife will tell you no sales tax. Knowing very well that these kids who are from the ages of 12 to 14. Don't really understand that they are being scammed for pizza. Because the price just went from 99 cents to $4 a slice. As a good business owner went a student walks up and says I would like the student discount you would ask the question do you mean the 99 cent slice. Instead of selling them the no sales tax ploy and or not asking them. So everyone check your credit card statements and ask your kids how much they are actually paying for pizza after school. So I wanted to try something new. Round table has become very expensive and very boring. They hardly even give you cheese on your pizza. It was time to give it up and try something different. Ordered pizza for a party at work and everybody loved it. The next couple of weeks we had a coworker leaving and through a little party. I asked her what she wanted and she said the pizza we had last time. Order a variety of pizza, chicken wings, salad and cheesy bread. Once again it was all delicious. Customer service is great. They no longer take coupons?!!??? - My reaction when I called this past weekend to order and have been getting pizza from this restaurant for the past 20 years. We hadn't gotten pizza from here for awhile but damn.... Our coupon was for the extra large 11 topping supreme for $22. Now they don't accept coupons and the price is $33. We went with it, because we had already planned to get it and didn't have backup dinner plans. But after eating it we can easily see that this is our last time. My pizza cravings have been in full-swing recently, but I didn't feel like ordering from our usual spots and wanted to support a family-owned business, so Yelp led me to Pizza Express in Castro Valley on Center St and I was happy about that. The pizzas were hearty with a good amount of toppings. The homemade thin crust was flavorful, sauce was tasty without being too tart or sweet, toppings were fresh, and there was a lot of mozzarella cheese. I also liked that you could order thin, thick, or stuffed crust with traditional Italian dough, stuffed mozzarella dough, or cauliflower dough, along with different sauces: tomato basil, pesto, garlic, BBQ, or curry. They also had a nice number of toppings that you would traditionally find at a pizza place, but I liked that they were distributed evenly across the pizza. (Some places haven't been as generous or the toppings have been all clumped together.) My only note was that one of the pizzas was supposed to have no sauce at all, however, it arrived with tomato sauce. Was it still yummy? Yes, it really was and maybe that was just how it was meant to be? Possibly! Anyway, still looking forward to ordering from here again! They're currently offering pick-up and delivery. read more
