We're fans of Papa Brunee's. It's a simple and unassuming place, very clean and they are taking good care of customers and staff during COVID. The food quality is very high, the salads, sandwiches and pizzas were excellent and prices are very reasonable. We had a caesar salad and it was crisp and delicious, the dressing was just right, with a hint of anchovy goodness. The meatball sandwich is something I would definitely order again, the meatballs and red sauce were scratch made and outstanding. Pizzas are what they are famous for and justifiably so. We had the Pepp-e-due which was something unique. It has the savoriness of pepperoni, the sweetness of sweet red peppers and just a hint of *honey*, which was a surprising and delicious twist. Wow, I did not expect this place to be SO GOOD. On our recent trip to Idaho, we ate out at about 8 restaurants during the trip, and Papa Brunee's was easily my favorite. The prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. We got the specialty pizza (forget the name) with hot honey and it was just absolutely fantastic. We also got their baked hot wings and I didn't know hot wings could be so good if they weren't deep-fried. They were spicy, perfectly cooked, and with just the right amount of heat. We also tried the cheesy breadsticks - the marinara was spot on, the bread was soft, cheesy, with just the right amount of salty. Came in May, so not a lot open in town yet and this place was hopping...a school bus was just leaving so we did decide to try it out. Full of locals drinking beer from their cups on the shelf. The Pepp-E-Due pizza: Pesto, pepperoni, Peppadew peppers, crimini mushrooms, red onions, fresh basil, Pecorino Romano and hot honey. Pepadew peepers are sweet and mild. On a pizza, wow. This place was so great. It's a comfortable little restaurant the middle of town with very friendly staff and very tasty pizza. We got the Portugeser and a kids cheese pizza and then also a toasted ravioli. Everything was piping hot and fresh. We were never without a full drink and plates were quickly removed. Every once in awhile a place surprises the crap out of you and begin to wonder if you really could be in a super small town in the middle of nowhere having some of the best pizza ever. This is an order at the counter and get a number kind of place but the service was still super attentive, friendly, and quick. We were camping nearby and there is nothing better than leftover pizza at a campsite so we got 2 pizzas and a salad to share and had lots of leftovers. The salad was super fresh and tasty and the pizza was really good! There is inside seating, but they also have a big front porch with tables and we sat out there and enjoyed the beautiful night in a cool old town and enjoyed our meal. Great experience! read more

My husband got the 10" and said it was a lot for him, he ate about 2/3 of it and got really full. I think Papa Brunee's became our #1 choice of eatery in Stanley, Idaho. My friend and I were in the area for vacation to do some hiking and sightseeing. We knew there would be limited food options, since we came during a shouldering season about 5 days before the season closed for winter. I was a little hesitant that we would not find any good food or have to resort to microwavable items. However, Papa Brunee's came to save the day. I'm not sure if it was just the lack of food around us or our deep deep love for pizza, but once we had it for the first time, we always came back the next day for a snack or actual meal. The pizza is delicious with a crisp crust and ability to make-your-own. I also tried their soup of the day (mushroom), and it was so yummy. It was one of those homemade type of soups and it just warmed my insides up right away. Another food item we absolutely loved were the cheese sticks. I could seriously eat those all day, every day. We came rolling in after a hike, on a cloudy day in June. To our surprise, the place was relatively busy. We had the personal size pizzas, one meatball and one veggie. Both were amazing! The ingredients were fresh, the crust homemade, and the flavor out of this world! I'm not typically a fan of thicker crust pizza, but this proved to be a welcomed exception. The pizza here is one of the best I've ever had and having traveled all over I would low key consider myself a pizza connoisseur. we had wings, (not dry and perfectly spicy with lots of meat), the famous sauerkraut Calzone (which I was hesitant about) that ended up being our fav, and the combo pizza. Full of toppings, perfect crust, made with lots of love. The fact that they have beer on draft and wine available puts them at a 10/10. Now I will always dream about coming back just for the pizza.
