Like others, I was confused by the pricing until I later realized (from reading reviews here and on Google) that a service charge is included in the final price. First of all, that just feels wrong - tipping should always be optional, especially for a simple cup of coffee. More importantly, surreptitiously including this extra charge without notice (maybe there's some fine print somewhere?) seems unethical (I'd like to believe it's even illegal, but that's probably just wishful thinking). On top of that, they casually ask if you want to add an additional tip (and of course the minimum suggested amount on the register is 20%). Also, what makes their pricing policy particularly irritating is that their beverages are already priced on the high side compared to local competition. I really don't know what happened to the quality of this place. I used to get coffee all the time back in the day but recently I've had two identical experiences exactly one week apart from each other. My friend wanted to check out this place and I'm always down to try a new place. Seemed like a popular place because when we got there, they had a very long line. I ordered an iced horchata and a pumpkin cake. The cake was very dry so wouldn't recommend that. And the iced horchata had coffee in it, so it was probably my fault for overlooking that. The atmosphere is great! I liked that I could order online for pickup so I didn't have to wait in line. My friend didn't have an issue with her online order. However, my order took a long time to make (it was just a drink). They sent me a text almost an hour and a half later that my order was ready. Panther Coffee is located on a quiet corner in Wynwood. We were walking around looking for breakfast and noticed several people outside drinking coffee. If I was casually walking down the street I would probably have passed it. The outside looks bland and I could not tell it was a coffee shop. The inside is very dark and quiet. They were closing early today so that might have been a reason for the lack of ambivalence. I ordered an iced coffee with a breakfast burrito. The burrito came out in a plastic wrap inside a takeout box. The burrito was melted to the plastic wrap making it inedible. The iced coffee was good but way too expensive. There is no way I am spending a lot of money from a tiny cup of iced coffee. I was not impressed at all by the food and drink options. The coffee is good, but I find the pricing absurd and methods unethical. I paid $8.61 for an iced latte with oat milk that was pretty small. The business now adds a service charge to your total without disclosing it, bringing the price up quite a bit. On top of that, they leave the tip screen as well. I am all for employees being paid more, but this seems like a way for the company to pass off their responsibility to pay their workers fairly onto the customer. It makes the customer feel like the asshole for not wanting to pay the charge, when really it is the company's responsibility. Lots of different coffee here, but I was personally the most impressed with the the pour over options. They do Chemex and V60 here of any Single Origin roast you want to try! CHEMEX POUR OVER (12 OZ.) - 6 There were a few different single origins to choose from and the barista recommended me her favorite, Peru Rayos Del Sol (tasting notes: berries, honey, chocolate, vanilla - sweet, silky and elegant). After waiting for it to cool down, the pour over was bright and fruity with deep and more chocolate-y after tastes. Overall, very enjoyable roast with lots of different notes going on. My friend got the matcha latte and it tasted like milk with very little matcha flavor. I wouldn't recommend this drink. Another friend got the cold brew with vanilla syrup and cream that was surprisingly good. I don't typically enjoy non-black coffee, but surprisingly, the flavors helped the coffee shine. They also have a really nice variety of drinks to get, and you can customize with different milks and flavors. My favorite drinks here are a nitro cold brew and the iced vanilla oatmilk latte. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that it is bit expensive. An iced vanilla oatmilk latte is $7.50. Once in a while, it's a really nice splurge, but look elsewhere for your daily coffee fix. As much as I go to Wynwood, this was my first time at Panther Coffee, believe it or not. This coffee chain has grown popularity among Miami locals since they first opened 9 years ago. They're known for roasting their own coffee in the premises and I had a chance to watch the process at this Wynwood location. I just happen to be in the neighborhood so as soon I walked inside, I was immediately hypnotized by the aroma. I ordered a Nitro Cold Brew and just one sip, I knew the coffee was strong and high quality. And that's exactly I needed that morning to wake me up..lol :) The biggest size is 12oz for $7 so it's quite pricey for what I considered "medium" but it's worth it. Overall, I was definitely impressed with the quality and also the friendly "neighborhood vibe" service. Next time I'll try one of their brewed to order coffee. They offer different methods including French press, clever and vacuum pot just to name a few. It's just extremely hot right now in Miami so I may have to wait until November. We ordered a matcha latte with a base of milk, however you can get water based too. Also the vanilla flavored cappuccino we ordered was delightful. Visiting from New York, w just came to Panther for the first time and WOW. My husband, who is very particular about his pourover, got the Ethiopian Chemex and has been sitting here with a little smile on his face the entire time he's been drinking it, saying it's even better than his home preparation and favorite place in Brooklyn (it's also half the price!). As a tea drinker, I appreciate the serious tea selection here too. The outdoor patio is an added bonus -- a lovely spacious and shady respite from the heat and crowds around Wynwood Walls area. WHOA (as in stop, not as in wow). The P in this Panther Coffee maybe stands for pretentious. Beverages 4 stars, service 1 star. Convenient if you're in Wynwood, but with a clientele (and serving staff) of hipper-than-thou types. The service but not the food was problematic at this particular outpost of Panther. First let me say I admire the authentically hip. People wearing a hipster porkpie hat, plus tight spandex, and rockin a lotta tattoos, are the folks who make Miami unique. If you're an obnoxious tourist, or think the way to be cool is to silently avert your gaze when a customer says "good morning, I'll have ____" then I'm gonna check the nitwit-wannabe-hipster box. What was strange to me was not the obnoxiousness of the other customers here; you run into that in any tourist-y spot. Panther also can't police the annoying unless they get really out of hand. It was the even stranger you're-lucky-to-have-ME-making-your-coffee vibe of the staffers here. Maybe because it's in such a heavily touristed area, who knows. It was genuinely odd: on more than one visit, the oddly unfriendly staffers never spoke back (one even just pointed to the number on the cash register without ever speaking, AT ALL). The same one later practically snarled when I asked what the wifi password was, forcing her to speak. I phoned up Miss Manners and she says: in a service profession, welcome your customer, speak back at least as many words as they speak to you, and always say thank you. Like all Panther Coffee locations, the coffee here is consistently better than the average chain. They have the full complement of teas and coffees with variations.
