I really enjoyed the flavor of the coffee beans and the espresso-to-milk ratio in the cappuccino. The temperature and foam texture could have been a bit better, but overall it was a great coffee experience. The service was friendly and welcoming. I've been coming here for a couple of years, but have recently been a daily convert after moving to the neighborhood. I wasn't quite sure the background of these guys, but learned that they are an experienced roaster based in the Pacific Northwest, who only has a handful of cafés. I find the quality of coffee here to be the best in Miami Beach. The hot drinks, the regular cold brew, and the nitro cold brew are all excellent. The barista and staff are always friendly and even though it's always busy, there is rarely more than a couple minutes wait to get your drink. You would literally have to be insane to use Starbucks over this place. As an added bonus, I recently purchased some bags of their whole beans in both their regular and decaf varieties as I have a nice coffee machine in my new home. They are really excellent. read more

Every coffee I've had here has been superb and the one I thought would be unlikable was actually quite fantastic. And here's how you know it's good stuff: actual Italian-speaking Italians are there getting coffee. Proof it's the real deal. I first discovered this gem of a coffee place in Seattle, which was beautiful with its old school classic architecture. We each bought 2-3 coffees--that's how good they all were. The best coffee shop on South Beach to have a Lavender Latte! If I want the Lavender Latte, I always go specifically to this cafe because I know that its flavor will be perfect! I usually drink it iced, but the hot version is very tasty too. The coffee they use for drinks is very flavorful. Also, this coffee shop has a nice tea selection. They can make them hot or iced, it's up to you. I personally ordered iced Earl Grey tea a few times, and it is definitely my favorite flavor. In addition, this place has a nice selection of pastries. I tried croissants a couple of times, and they were always fresh, soft, and tasty. The prices in this coffee shop are typical for South Beach; I would call them reasonable. For example, for a medium-sized Lavender Latte, I pay $6.80. The cafe is very nicely designed and always impeccably clean. It has a big indoor area, and also a large outdoor area with many tables and umbrellas. The staff who work at this place are sweet and friendly. They make orders pretty fast; I've never had to wait long. Plus, I've never had a situation where I didn't like my drink and had to ask a barista to remake it. I love the crowd at this coffee shop. A lot of nice, good-looking people come there to have drinks, hang out, or work. The atmosphere is always chilled and positive. Unfortunately, the cafe is kind of away from the beach. My only wish for its perfection would be an Ocean Drive/Collins Avenue location, which would be easily accessible from the beach. But I like the fact that the cafe is located in a quiet residential and peaceful corner of South Beach, and it is not very noisy there. I absolutely recommend this coffee shop if you're searching for one in South Beach. And do not forget to try the Lavender Latte! read more

They know a lot about coffee beans, roasting them, and making a solid Americano. There was a little bit of a line on the Saturday morning I visited, but it moved quickly and the baristas were great about suggesting specific roasts for my morning hangover. I spied specialty drinks like lavender lattes, matcha lattes, chai, and even something called Bicerin, but I went with a simple Americano, and it went down real smooth. It's truly unfortunate that the current manager at Umbria is so rude. I have been a loyal customer of Umbria since the day they opened but not any longer. I made one small request - foam on an iced drink - which every single employee including the owner has done for me in the 100+ times that I've ordered this drink but she pulled the "I'm the manager and we don't do that" card. They weren't busy, it wasn't an unusual request & I already paid an uncharge for it. Saying it is one thing, doing it so rudely is another. Umbria Coffee Roasters opened in April and has been a great cafe addition to West Avenue. I have been able to stop by several times this week and the service has been outstanding. From the friendliness of the staff at the register when you order to the barista handing you your coffee. My typical drink is the caffe latte and I know I would be getting a good cup when the barista takes a picture of my coffee. This week I also order a breakfast ham and cheese croissant and the lemon blueberry cake. Awesome quality and freshness. Really cute coffee shop with friendly service. We felt welcomed as soon as I entered the door. The barista answered all our questions and thoroughly explained the difference between some of the coffee drinks on the menu. She was really patient with us which I appreciate. We got a custard donut, iced matcha latte, and an espresso shakerato (both drinks with oat milk). The matcha latte was okay, it was a bit too sweet for my preference, but the espresso shakerato was great especially paired with the donut. COLD BREW (12 OZ.) - 4 The notes were underwhelming and boring. If you don't really care about coffee notes and just want something refreshing with heavy caffeine content, this is the way to go. Otherwise, I would not recommend this if you're drinking for the taste. ICED LAVENDER LATTE (16 OZ.) - 7 Not sure on the price point but that's about how much my friend paid for. She asked for one less lavender syrup shot and one extra espresso and it was actually very good. It's one of the best lavender syrups I've had since there is a nice floral after taste that lingers in your mouth. Getting an extra espresso was definitely the move. However, the drink was expensive and if you want a dairy free milk option, it's even more. It's up to you if you want to splurge! It's definitely a good and refreshing drink. read more

Umbria has been my go-to spot for the past three days in South Beach. Visited twice on one of the days. Their Turmeric Ginger Chai Latte either hot or iced is amazing! They offer milk alternatives such as my beloved oat milk. You can dine in doors or outdoors. They have a pastry case with empanadas & assorted pastries. The empanadas are not greasy at all. I love croissants and these did not disappoint! They have a Pistachio filled croissant that blew my mind. Another favorite was their mini croissant filled with Dulce de Leche. Their Smoked Salmon & Arugula croissant sandwich really hit the spot. I noticed ham & cheese, & egg sandwich options as well. Raul was not only great to speak with but an AMAZING barista as well. He made me feel like a regular & I appreciate that! Parking is limited to metered street parking. There is a parking lot adjacent but I believe it is for whole foods only. A major bonus for me was that it was walking distance from my hotel. I would absolutely recommend this small business to anyone looking for a great coffee or light meal. Both were around $5 which is a good price for a coffee shop in Miami Beach. We also ordered 3 egg and cheese empanadas and a small chocolate croissant. The coffee and chai were delicious and perfect in the flavor. Smooth and refreshing. The mini chocolate croissant was tasty and flaky. The empanadas are good texture but lack a little bit of flavor. They're also quite expensive at $5.25 but still a good addition for a snack at the shop. Happy to come back here and spend time enjoying the drinks and bites. read more

Such a cute coffee spot! Luckily I work close by and can visit often. I saw the blue umbrellas from afar and decided to stop in for a coffee. The decor is so cute with comfy chairs, a long wooden table in the center and a tv. I was greeted by the lovely staff and looked over the coffee menu to figure out what I wanted. They have some unique options with honey or lavender which is really cool. They also have some savory foods like empanadas and sweets like biscotti. We took a walk from the ocean side just to see if they were open yet...they weren't but promised that they would be open around March 29, 2021. Seems the bureaucracy of Miami was a real headache...skip to their hospitality and coffee... We poked our heads in and we're greeted with smiles and enthusiasm of a completely ready shop. The owner and baristas explained that they weren't open but offered to make us coffee anyway. You can find a couple of these roaster/café around the United States. They said they are roasting out of Seattle and have a store in Chicago. Feeling like a unsweetened latte was my personal preference for evaluation of a roaster, that's what I ordered. It was perfectly creamy with a hint of earthy and chocolate tones. I am always pleased when a coffee is in that perfect zone...neither sour or bitter. Well, they rocked it. The atmosphere inside was cool Aqua colors without being pretentious or contrived. There is a small patio area. This is a place where you'll want to enjoy on site rather than take it to go. They have amazing pottery (cups) with Umbrian (northern Italian) motif. Please consider this cafe - it is well worth the walk. I expect that you will be glad you did. read more
