They need to figure out a better system of taking orders and who the order belongs to. They dont give you a number and when they are busy its crazy. My order was given to someone else dining in. They proceeded to open the plates only to find it wasnt their order. So when they took it back to the counter, she wrapped it in a bag and said "oh your order". Really, how do I know that other customer didnt touch the food. UNACCEPTABLE!! Give a number or take a name - other places do and it works. read more

good local plate lunch place! whenever i go, i opt for the 2 eggs breakfast with corn beef hash and a side of portuguese sausage. can't go wrong with the price for ~$10 and they give you a decent portion size for the price. the service isn't the greatest. it's always the same lady working the cash register and taking takeout orders on the phone. she is very to the point and will hang up on you after you order! the place overall is very clean and not dirty at all. there's like 7 tables or so to dine in. good place to stop by for a quick breakfast or lunch. read more

Thank goodness Kaneohe has something to eat outside of Windward mall. Pan's kitchen is exactly what I'd call a hole in the wall. I never go into the little area it's in, but after hearing about the good food they make I knew I had to stop by eventually! I learned the mochiko chicken was especially purchase worthy, so that was at the top of my list. It didn't disappoint! I loved the batter they used. It's quite different from other places in my opinion, but that's what made it good. The garlic chicken was also delicious. I love the sauce and would actually recommend dipping the mochiko chicken into it too!! The meat jun was okay, pretty standard, but it was still good to have. The fried rice could use more flavor but overall it hits the spot! And everything was a decent price too. Not one of those $17 plate lunches that I've been seeing from time to time. Which is why.. I'm going to be back here, especially to try more of their specials. Some just look so good!! It's also super nice and clean inside if anyone was wondering. What can I say, the food was hella bomb. A hole in the wall that we stumbled upon on yelp while trying to find some chicken katsu for the kids. Everything here was delicious. Our picky eater loved the katsu and our other son devoured his kalbi plate. The loco moco was good, not the best, but definitely above average. The kids loved it so much we had to order more to go. After 6 months of working in the area, I finally gave Pan's Kitchen a try. We arrived for breakfast at around 7am. There was lots of parking in the lot and lots of seating inside. There were only 2 other customers seated. The woman at the front greeted us. We ordered 1 breakfast plate with 2 eggs and link sausage, 1 cheeseburger and an order of spring rolls. My bf was impressed by the size of the breakfast. They gave not just 2 or 3 sausages but 5! Unheard of. Haha. The cheeseburger was ordinary. I'm very particular about my cheeseburgers and unfortunately I don't think I will order this again. There was something about the hamburger patty I didn't like. I wasn't fond of the taste. The spring rolls were just OK as well. They came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. I didn't realize when I ordered that they were actually veggie spring rolls. The menu board didn't specify what kind they were. It came with 3 pieces. We also chose to eat here on the same day for lunch. I know, I know. Not healthy at all! We ordered the mochiko chicken and battered garlic shrimp. My bf was a fan of the chicken and this time, I was a fan of my plate as well! The shrimp was delicious. It was clean and no peeling involved. I believe this came with about 10 pieces of shrimp ( I ate a couple before I remembered to count). Highly recommend this one. I believe the price on this with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad was $10. We will be back for more! read more

Pan's Kitchen is as good as it gets. I am not on the Windward side that often, however, when I am, I make sure to the Pan. The food here is really good. I have had a variety of items and have been impressed with all. The breakfast items are great! My favorite is the Super Breakfast which is on the "specials" menu and not listed on the regular menu. It has every breakfast meat that you can want included (including roast pork). My favorite non-breakfast item is the garlic chicken. This resembles traditional BBQ chicken, but is thinly sliced and flavored with lots of garlic. The salmon is also go-toif I am in the mood for a seafood entrée. The service is always excellent. I usually call in my order, but they have lots of seating if you are dining in. They also have lots of parking which makes this a convenient place to dine and grind. read more

Hubby & I were in the Kaneohe area for an oil change, and decided to check this place out while waiting(Dodge dealership). Restaurant was nice and clean, condiments well stocked. Our cashier was also very sweet and quickly took our order. We ordered the breakfast special(2 eggs, your choice of meat & rice.) & French toast breakfast(4 pc, 2 eggs & your choice of meat.). Everything was cooked nicely, & came out in a timely manner. Price point is excellent for the portions you receive. Big, clean space with parking. We had regular mochiko chicken, garlic fried shrimp, and gyoza. Overall, everything was clean but meh. The mochiko chicken was unlike any mochiko chicken I've ever had- so fried but somehow not greasy, but also flavorless. The shrimp was ok. The gyoza in the picture on menu was less fried than this, too. Overall, I think this place might be good fast food alternative but I feel like we could have gone to the food court and gotten an equally decent meal. read more

Just had dine in lunch there for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how big, nice and clean the inside is and the customer service was great. They are located in what seems like a semi-industrial area so that's the reason for my plesant surprise. We ordered the Loco Moco w/easy over and the BBQ Mix plate. Both plates had very good portions, cooked well, very tasty, had a neat/clean presentation (not slopped together) and was hot and fresh. After ordering our food it took around 10 minutes to recieve our food which is good per it was at peak lunch hour with alot of take out orders happening. The parking lot may be a little challenging to find a stall during peak hours but there is street parking too. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

Good food but terrible customer service.. they forgot our order and after 20mins my husband asked how much longer because I had a dr appt within 30mins.. the only explanation she had was that they "so busy" but all the people that came in after us got their food - the owner/cashier says oh they were all phone orders - my husband said no they weren't I heard them ordering .. Then when I asked her to refund us she says " just 5 more minutes" - we now are 30 mins waiting at a "fast food" place and I said just refund us (I have to be at my dr in 15mins now) THEN she makes me wait another 5 mins any way so she can find the transaction on her register tape to refund me but has to calculate manual to charge me for my coffee & my husbands juice .. AND THEN while we are waiting for her calculations the fried rice that my husband wanted to order comes out for a customer who just had walked in and ordered!!! **My husband was livid because he was ono for their fried rice and when we got there initially we were told they don't serve fried rice for breakfast and it's too busy .. So as if the owners actions weren't bad enough already SHE STARTS MAKING EXASPERATED FACIAL GESTURES to the customer that was getting the fried rice like WE were being difficult I feel that all the owner should have done at that point is apologize that they made a mistake and misplaced our order - everyone makes mistakes and I understand things happen but the WAY you respond to a mistake can make or break your business - customer service, loyalty to your customer base is just as important as tasty food.. for these guys they came from big island and opened up here we had already gone in there multiple times since they opened about 6 mos ago .. there are places like this that have a reputation for good food but they think their food is so good that they are doing you a favor by allowing you to buy their food and get to eat it and can treat you badly because they have what you want .. BOTTOM LINE .. Food is good - not mind blowing.. customer service IS SO BAD it IS mind blowing .. A sincere apology when you screw up is always going to be better received then flippant excuses. read more

If you like your battered garlic shrimp to taste only like batter minus the shrimp and garlic, this is the place to try! We also ordered gyoza and mochiko chicken, unfortunately we could not tell the difference between the three dishes because they all only tasted like batter. When I saw my dear friend and respected Yelp Mentor review this new Kaneohe hot spot, I knew I needed to place it on my list. That opportunity finally happened the day after Lane was downgraded to a tropical storm. Finding that Pan's was open, I stopped in with the plan to get some breakfast to go. Upon entering, there were three things that instantly impressed me: the peaceful atmosphere, the number of locals dining in, and the nonstop steady stream of locals coming in to either place or pick up orders to go. All the signs of a great establishment! I ordered the loco moco to go (without rice) and settled down to wait. I spied some take out menus by the counter and picked up one to read. I was impressed at the wide assortment of meat choices and was just thinking that I might need to return soon to try their advertised NY strip, sirloin, and meat jun. (Hard to find good steak on windward side, and restaurants that are open late like Pan's). That's about where I saw the "unagi" on the menu. Wow unagi.... but was it good? Only one way to know and that's to try. I ordered some to go (again without rice) and about that time my to go loco moco was ready. Then it occurred to me that I could enjoy the loco moco while I waited for my unagi. After all, what good is a cold breakfast? The loco moco was a bit different than most I've had, in that it featured caramelized onions and mushrooms. While I've noticed that most places are adding mushrooms an onions (not authentic though... original recipes do not contain onions or mushrooms), most usual just serve them sautéed. At Pan's they actually caramelize the onions and mushrooms and then deglaze with a little water. The effect on the taste of the loco moco is amazing. The only critique is that the gravy is not the best I've had... could be more flavorful and most likely comes premade. Still, the addition of the mushrooms and onions more than made up for this. Shortly afterwards, the unagi came out. Again, my plans for s take home Neal rapidly disintegrated with every whiff of the glazed eels! Not thinking I could drive home safely with the aroma of unagi filling up my vehicle, I opted to enjoy that too in-house! The unagi was very good. While not like Japan, it was impressive. Highly recommend Pan's for your next dining outing in Kaneohe. I'll be back again soon myself. read more

Its basically a plate lunch restaurant. The food is pretty good, but they serve everything in styrofoam containers, wether you are eating there or taking out. I didn't like eating my breakfast in a styrofoam container. The breakfast is more in line with McDonalds or Jack in Box. There brochure is misleading, it shows all their food dishes and breakfast dishes on nice ceramic plates, but they serve you the food in Styrofoam container. Very tacky! Coffee could be better, real half and half would be nice too. Good Luck! read more

Decided to try Pan's as it's relatively new and it is always fun to discover new spots as they come in Kaneohe. Read reviews about everyone hyping up their mochiko chicken and as a self-proclaimed mochiko connoisseur, felt I was obligated to give it a try. Went in the restaurant and found the mochiko on the menu, but saw a mochiko/rib-eye jun combo on the specials board and decided to give that a try. My food was ready in a matter of minutes, definitely faster than most plate lunch places in the area which was awesome. The mochiko chicken was pretty good, but not the best I've had (best is also in Kaneohe). But this rib-eye jun was very good! Not Kim Chee 1 meat jun quality when it comes to the batter but the meat was very soft and ono. The sauce it came with was different, but not in a bad way. I'm on a no rice kick right now so any restaurant that can hook me up with a plate lunch with all toss salad always gets a thumbs up from me, as this place did. Family operated new restaurant. There is something for everyone. I would call it more plate lunch style, with a touch of Local, Korean and Japanese, then throw in Prime Rib and All Day Breakfast. I had the Oxtail Soup which is a favorite and an indication of a kitchen with finesse, imho. Before that review, of the plates observed for dine in all looked and smelled very good. The takeout looks quite busy and most folks looked like daily diners from the surrounding businesses. Outside of Mitsuken on King St, this all day, $5.79 breakfast deal is pretty good deal. Even at lunch, quite a few breakfasts were served. Back to the Oxtail... the lack of Star 4 is because of the price. I asked what "Style" the Soup is. The answer was Just Like the Picture (on the menu board). That said, I was willing to take a chance! So it came out with the warning that it's very hot. The soup was maybe a Picasso knock-off of the Original. The Oxtails were very cooked and almost colorless, mostly bones with some greyish meat which when removed, did have some pinkness, albeit very little. The carrots, cauliflower and celery were already too well cooked and were instant purée as you went to chew. So fresh is not the keyword here. It was flavorful and not bad tasting, but had I been in a dream, the soup would be served in an Amish farmhouse in BelleVille, PA. The small bowl and two scoops of rice command a price tag of $16.99. read more

This place is right across the street from my workplace! I love that it's so close and i don't have to go very far if i didn't bring lunch from home. I have eaten here twice the past week! Lol The first time i got the teriyaki chicken bowl. I was disappointed because there wasn't enough sauce on it for me, but i enjoyed it anyway! It also came with veggies which was nice! The next time i ordered from them i got the cheeseburger and the onion rings. The burger was extra cheesy and overall the patty was cooked perfect! I just had to add ketchup. Their onion rings are delicious! It takes just as good as the one's from Burger King! Overall this place may become my new favorite spot!
