We almost turned around and walked out but suddenly a nice lady appeared from somewhere to the left, climbing down into the area that might have once been a counter. "The sign says we're open, you're funny," she said. She offered us a roll "carrot egg" and a plastic clamshell with fried chicken in it. Both items were room temp. No indication of when they were cooked. I asked if we needed to heat them before eating... "if the roll makes it home, you can refrigerate it. Take it out for an hour before eating and it will be fresh again." I wanted to love this place. Came a LONG way to try it today. Based on the photos, the food looks so good. Idk what happened. We each had a slice of the roll. Underwhelming. And I had a bite of the chicken. Darnit! Gave our leftovers to a homeless person rather than toss it. Just wasn't tasty to me and .... when did she cook it? How long was it sitting there unrefrigerated? Maybe I just didn't get it. Nice lady though. Nice chickens out front too. Although the one staring at me as I waked to the car made me wonder if I was holding her husband in my plastic clamshell. Wouldn't come back. But glad we came. Since I was celebrating my birthday I decided to go for the prime rib that many have compared to a steak out of the prehistoric era.
