I had never been to this breakfast and lunch place and decided to give it a whirl as they have a fried egg sandwich on their menu. It's super local except for what I guess are the occasional tourists that are visiting the temple and nearby campground. The lovely server took my order and promptly brought my decaf coffee. It was very much an old-school diner cup o' joe (weak) but at least it was fresh. I switched to regular caf later thinking it would be stronger, but it was the same. Not a dealbreaker, (but kind of expensive at $4.75 per cup- free refills). My sandwich wasn't stellar because they forgot the cheese that I requested, but I also forgot to order it on a bun instead of regular toasted bread, so it already had one strike against it. But that was my bad. Service was great and local vibe really nice. And speaking of camping, the café sells 20 pound bags of ice for $5. I think that's a pretty good deal and convenient if you're already having a meal there. Not sure how much they sell them for at Times Market next door, but I discovered that they have a small section of camping and fishing gear at the market that's very convenient to the area. This is a little hole in the wall place that I found because I was stopping at a place nearby that wasn't open yet. It is a little dated and needs some updates, but it didn't hurt my experience. My waitress was very friendly and the food came out quickly and hot. One minor gripe is my scrambled eggs were cooked more like an omelet and they were bland, but I have had worse. The orange juice was much larger than expected. I ordered a jumbo because I always get such small servings. It was not the case here. I would stop by again next time I am in the area. It was kinda dead when I got there at 7:30am, but soon there were more people that showed up. The prices aren't bad, especially for Hawaii and compared to the mainland. read more

Brother and I wanted to get breakfast somewhere in Kaneohe after dropping flowers at our parents' gravesite at Hawaiian Memorial Park. I really wanted to try Times Coffee Shop but only knew the one in Kailua and i wasn't in the mood to go to Kailua. But then decided to check Yelp, and by luck found Times Coffee Shop was also located in the Koolau Shopping Center across Valley of the Temples! So that is where we decided to go... never drove onto that shopping center my entire life until now...and found it somewhat easily. We got the parking stall just directly in front of the coffee shop, what luck! As we got out of the car, it was about 9:30 ish and we walked and looked into through the front doors and to the BOTH OF US, it looked like it was closed! Even though we see a handwritten sign saying they would be closed beginning on May 26th for a period, we both thought 'from just peering through the doors' that the coffee shop looked closed. We walked to the left thinking maybe we looking at the wrong place, but it was another establishment, so (don't laugh) but we then walked back to the front and looked again at the signage and don't know if light hitting at the right angle, or some type of secret agent tinting but it 'appeared closed'. My brother who was closest to the door saw the door move (due to the a/c pressure inside) so he pulled on the door, and the door opened! Oh my, what a moment! The waitress who was near the back side near the kitchen saw us and said we could sit anywhere we wanted, but we decided to go to one of the booths and settled on the left rear most booth that was near the kitchen. There were about 12-13 booths that were along both left and right walls and back side just before the kitchen, while the inner section were wooden tables with wooden supportive old style chairs--- reminiscent of Original Pancake House in Kalihi. As I sat down, i was (really) amazed at how much space between the table and the booth seating as it would easily allow larger sized people (like me) to sit comfortably===if you been to some other places with fixed booth seats that were tight as one's stomach would make contact upon seating-you would know what i mean! This has to be the most comfortable and spacious booth seating I ever sat in at any restaurant on Oahu! Our waitress was so on to us as customers... told her we were first time customers as we wanted to eat here after leaving Hawaiian Memorial Park. She gave us the menus and my god, she was busting ass servicing the few people in the booths in this spacious, deep front to back side diner. Found she and the other waitress were attending WITH SO MUCH ALOHA and attentiveness with filling coffee cups (often) that it just brought attention to me while we were waiting for our foods to arrive. I found out they don't have combination omelets like OPH where we can also get pancakes instead of rice, potatoes, toast, etc. we had to order ala carte. I ordered the All Time Favorites' selection of Portuguese sausage with American cheese w/green onions with the fried potatoes and buttered toast ($14.50) Brother ordered the hamburger patty omelet with same fried potatoes and buttered toast ($15.95). We also ordered a full stack (3) of banana pancakes on the side to share. As we waited, it was enjoyable as our waitress (who I had to ask her name, which was Maria) tell her about the spacious room seating for the booths and she said that others have said that comment too. I have to say, these two waitresses deserved so much for how they kept walking about filling water or coffee (regular in one hand and decaf in the other) and taking orders. With this much spaciousness in these booths, i could easily see the floor (ha, ha) ... which looked like some areas in the corners were missed as they were small pieces of food, etc. Not a lot, but noticeable enough and be the only negative comment I could mention in this review. About 15+ minutes later, Maria gave us our foods... she provided a separate plate as she knew we were going to split the hotcakes. Everything looked so delicious... we both had the buttered toast (2 slices sliced diagonally) with 2 packets of Smuckers' brand jams (I had the mixed jelly and concord grape while he had another flavor). Yes, prices have gone up... like any other place, but the portions were reasonable and could not complain. My omelet had finely chopped pieces of Portuguese sausage with the cheese and green onions and nothing to complain about. The banana pancakes were good, definitely above average with a fair amount of chopped bananas pieces mixed into the batter (no additional banana topping was included). While having our breakfast, many more people started to come into the diner, some looked to be regulars as i could see the interaction between the waitresses and the party. The hamburger was thin and probably frozen Costco meat because it was flavorless. Also, they complained that the gravy must have been out of a can because it was weak with no flavor. The other two meals were eggs and corned beef hash with eggs. The corned beef hash must have been cooked earlier then reheated. It was burnt and dry. They forgot one water and one utensils. I had a bite, and both of us couldn't figure out what was missing. We both remembered that the fried rice at the old Oneawa location in Kailua was excellent. This location has since moved to Hamakua Drive. The flavor of the fried rice did not go with it. I ordered the fried pork chop and onion without gray. The chops were thin cut. I got one center cut and one end cut pieces. The onions could have been fried longer.The chops were cooked well done. It didn't have the crispness that I like on the outside. My friend came here to eat and wait while I took my road test, and I came to join her when I finished. The restaurant was less than 15% occupied, I'd say less than 10 customers. The server immediately brought me a cup of water but did not ask if I wanted to order food or communicate she'd be back with a menu. I ordered the special with 2 eggs, Portuguese sausage, and potatoes. About 20 minutes passed, and the food had still not arrived, so I asked them to make it "to go." The food still took about 10 more minutes to arrive, making it a 30 minute wait for 2 eggs, Portuguese sausage, and breakfast potatoes. My friend who was there waiting for me and received her food prior to my arrival, had stated that she waited a while also for her order... in conclusion, even if the places looks empty, your food is still going to take a very long time. My wife and I dined at the Kailua Time's Coffee Shop before. I liked it but my wife didn't. So now, I was on the Kaneohe side and was all by myself and came upon Time's Coffee Shop in Temple Valley so I went in. The restaurant was half full at 10:00 AM and I was told to seat myself. Grabbed a menu so that when the server returned with my water I already knew what to order. I opted for the hamburger steak because I think all coffee shops like this has to have good hamburger steak. First I was served a big portion of mac/potato salad and it was topped with one side toasted with toast. A little strange but good. The salad needed a little salt and pepper but, I ate it just as they served it. Then I waited for quite a while until I was served my hamburger steak. They make their own patties here but, it was a little dry to me. There was also a little sweetness to the burger. They put a generous amount of grilled onions on the burgers and the gravy was very good. The bill came out to just over $15.00 and the service was friendly and efficient. 5/15/22 @12:45pm There was a standing "A" frame chalk board outside this place and on 5/15/22 my friend and I had the Swiss Rueben sandwich with the choice of French fries. I've written a few reviews for places that has similar feels like this and if you had read my review for a place called: "Embassy Cafe". But and hopefully they are still Open cause one thing that made them special was that Family owned feeling... I wanna believe that... I hope it's a family owned business cause the food has the sentiment of that feeling and normally these are the types of places that I call: "Taxi Joint" where the food is not too fancy, it's fills the stomach, and it's open Late - but in this case I guess Times coffee Shop can be considered a "go to" I'm not sure it's open late, but it sure has potential for that. I Loved the Rueben Swiss I had there is a good ratio of meat to cheese and it wasn't overbearing. It had the satisfying bite that is deserved for a hungry individual PLUS The most delicious part to my Rueben is the pickles which for a change was not a sliver of dill or the petite dill. In some places they place a small pile of 4-6 petite dills. The most common is the long cut sliver of dill kosher- sometimes the Kosher dill makes its way to plates too BUT--- for this plate it had the pickle "slices" that you find in the middle of the McDonald's burgers... just so we are clear - I know for a fact that the pickles in the burgers for McDonald's are not for sale in stores... but these pickles on my lunch with my Rueben sure looks like the same pickles and they look the same as those pickles!! Just to finish off this. I'd come back again. Little rustic on the service, but overall.... Great people. We were in the Windward side of the island, going to Byodo-In Temple. But first we had to eat. TCS is across the street in the mall, so it was the perfect setup. They serve breakfast and lunch, and one of their sig dishes is the iconic loco moco on top of fried rice. I luv loco moco, so I ordered it w/ fried rice. It comes w/ a hand ground patty and one egg. Combined w/ the fried rice & toast, it was plenty of food. The burger was silky smooth vs a lot of places that have frozen or pre-made patties. Secondarily, the gravy was nicely seasoned and didn't require pepper like a lot of places. Lastly, the fried rice was packed w/ bacon, spam & sausage: It was so ono! Regarding the ambiance, the decor is old skool AF. I noticed a lot of regulars. Likewise, the service has a lot of Aloha. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. Buddy invited me to meet up for breakfast and came for my first visit. Breakfast was pretty standard fare with several varieties of omelettes, pancakes and waffles, as well as a combo of 2 eggs and meat with a carb side. I ordered the everything omelette with house potatoes as the side. Flavor wise, this omelette tasted better than the omelettes from Kaneohe Pancake House but is smaller since this was a 2 egg omelette. But on the other hand, the potatoes are more flavorful at Kaneohe Pancake House. Will definitely be coming back to try out their fried rice since that seems to be the most popular. Ample parking and not too crowded. There were 2 servers on hand, and the food delivery was pretty quick, as were coffee refills. However, for some reason, water refill was very slow. Atmosphere reminded me of old school 70s style diner with a lot of Hawaiian prints and art on the walls. Lastly, they do provide a physical menu and you don't need to scan a QR code to look at the menu. I say this because owner/management at Brick Oven Pizza in Kapolei thinks it is common for restaurants not to provide physical menus when in fact, Brick Oven Pizza is the only place I have visited in the last 90 days that did not provide a physical menu. read more

Still the best "old school" coffee shop and breakfast-brunch-lunch establishment on the Windward side and in my opinion, quite possibly on Oahu. Have been coming here regularly (minimum once a week, sometimes more) for going on 11 years. I'm a big "cause-and-effect" type of person so I believe There's a reason for everything... nothing happens "just because".... as Sir I. Newton stated in his third law of motion: "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". As such, the reasons why I keep coming back week after week are: 1) the aloha and friendships that the staff and manager Sharon always extend to me. No matter how bad my day or theirs, they always greet customers with so much aloha as if we were ohana. And I guess in a way we are ohana... the Times-Hanai ohana. Anyone who comes here frequently fully understands what I'm talking about. For those who don't come here frequently, no further explanation is possible. 2) ono grinds: their famous Loco Moko is second to none. Made from scratch, they even fry the beef patties in coconut oil giving the dish a unique island taste. That, and the perfect caramelized onions and gravy, give this Hawaiian staple dish, an authentic authority all its own. 3) Grilled Mahimahi: always fresh and flaky. I suspect they use only the freshest fish. Turns a simple protein infused breakfast like grilled mahi and eggs into a treat for royalty! 4) Kona Coffee: 100%.... strong, rich, smooth. No need to say anything more. 5) All-Veggie Omelette: features, eggplant, zucchini, and both white and green onions! So ono! Awesome location right across from the Ko'olau range, this location is the true crown jewel of all Kaneohe dining restaurants. I am giving this spot 5 stars because of the unique decor. This is a traditional Hawaiian breakfast spot and it gets very busy here. If you love traditional Hawaiian food you will love this place. My favorite thing was all the beautiful art work and pics of Hawaiian History. It felt like a museum. I wanted to look at the art work more than the food.
